I was initially hesitant to try the braised pork belly rice here after reading reviews that the rice they use is not the slightly sticky/gluey kind that I prefer, but I’m so glad I gave it a try! The generous serving of sauce and layer of well seasoned minced pork went surprisingly well with the short grain rice which soaked up the flavours while remaining discrete and yet surprisingly moist. The braised hard boiled duck egg was a really great add-on as it was unexpectedly flavourful. As is to be expected for such popular eateries, I arrived around 1225pm on a weekday and waited till 1240pm before I got a table. The nice lady at the entrance made the system of ordering, getting the queue number for the table, payment etc, very easy even for a first timer.

Seems to be really popular with the locals. I was there at an off peak hour, 4pm and while there isn't a snaking queue, there were 5 orders before mine and a constant flow of diners. I ordered a 鲁肉饭便当 which comes with 3 sides and got an additional braised egg. The rice is not as sticky as I would like (not the pearl rice texture) but the braised pork is really good! I like that you can really taste bits of meat and not just fats and a good portion that covered the rice well. The braised egg was also very well braised through. Even the marinated seaweed side was good. A good 鲁肉饭, worth a queue if you are in the area, but not something I would travel all the way for.

Despite opening at 11:30 a.m., the restaurant already had a queue of ten tables by 11:40. Dine-in guests faced a 20-minute wait, while takeout orders required about 30 minutes. Humble in appearance but rich in flavor, this spot lets its classic Taiwanese staples speak for themselves. A well-balanced mix of locals and visitors filled the space, all drawn by the promise of authentic tastes. Among its specialties, the Braised Pork Rice(控肉饭)stood out—the pork was so tender, it practically melted in the mouth. It's the kind of place for someone who wants to eat like the locals do—without frills, but full of hear

Hands down one of the best bowls of braised pork rice in town. We’ve tried many and we unanimously agree this was the best we had on any trip to Taipei. Highly recommended! all of the positive reviews speaks for itself!

SO DELICIOUS Definitely one of the best braised pork over rice we’ve had in town. We arrived around 12:30pm and there was already a line. We got their queuing ticket but it was a little confusing so we asked the local in front how it works. The aunty that manages the queue was kind and understanding. Super clean space, affordable price, and very very delicious, highly recommended!

Their Kakuni (big dice chunk braised) Pork meat is the best. My wife doesnt like the smell but the meat is tender and juicy. Blend well with the soy sauce on top of hot white rice. My recommendation to accompany the kakuni rice bowl will be Radish Soup (with chunk of meat bone as well) and stir fried veggie with rice noodle and meat. Its really good. A lot of japanese came visiting this stalls as well they even prepared japanese menu. This stall also recommended on Michelin’s Guide for B gourmet. Do try it!!! You will be surprised with the quality and waiting time. Hahaha

Google
Definitely one of the best braised pork rice i try while in Taipei. The 卤肉饭 sauce goes really well with the rice. Expect a queue if you come late, and some items may be sold out if you arrived late. Never miss this if you are around the neighborhood!

Google
Must try their house special braised pork mince rice, aromatic and full with flavour, saltiness from the soy sauce plus all the Chinese spices to build the layers of complexity, then the grease from the pork smooth every out before it goes down the hatch, delicious and highly recommended.

Yelp
The first day we came, they were randomly closed for the day. Luckily our hotel was around the corner, so we were easily able to come back another day! I would've been so sad if we had missed out on eating here. Their pork belly is so juicy and tender! I usually like smaller pieces of pork belly with rice, because I feel like the juices soak in the rice more and it's easier to mix in and get a perfect bite. So we ordered a large bowl of the lu rou fan, and then a small side of the pork belly slabs. We should've gotten a large, because it was so delicious we ended up ordering another one! They have a basic selection of veggie sides to help cut some of the fat from your meal. There was a decent wait when we came, but you fill out your order sheet while waiting, so once you're seated everything comes out pretty quickly. Overall, if you're on the fence about coming here, definitely check it out. And if you think you want a small, get a large!

Yelp
Delicious lu ruo fan! Some of the best I've ever had. And it's so cheap too. You can get a lot of small dishes for just a couple of bucks. When we arrived there was a decently large crowd in front of the shop but the line moved pretty fast. Depending on if you're dining in or taking out, you'll get a line number. They have menus in Chinese and Japanese but I didn't see any in English. Order before you're seated and pay as you're seated. The meat in the lu ruo fan was so flavorful. And I loved how it had some pieces of fat mixed into it. Every bite with rice was delicious! You can even order extra pieces of meat. Bigger pieces than the one in the rice bowl and you can order different cuts of meat. You can also order a small or large order. Wash everything down with a spare rib radish soup. This was a perfect way to end the meal. The radishes were cooked long enough for it to become soft. The broth is super clear and clean.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite braised pork over rice spot in Taipei. Ordered with a bowl of soup. It's a hole in a wall place, near a park. This dinner cost $3 - 4 per person.

Yelp
Found this restaurant randomly on yelp and decided to go as my first option was too far. I'm so glad this happened though because this was probably my favorite restaurant in Taipei!!! The braised pork is to die for. We went a little before opening (PLACE OPENS AT 12PM. Yelp lied to me..) so we decided to walk around, get a pre-appetizer (this was going to be our appetizer to our actual lunch lol), and come back. When we came back at noon thinking we'd be the first and only people there, we were shockingly wrong. There were already so many people in the restaurant and many outside waiting!! They don't have an English menu so my friend and I struggled to order. We just ended up showing pics on yelp lol thankfully, we were seated right away. The food took awhile to come out due to how busy the place was but it's definitely worth the wait. We got the braised pork rice and another plate of just the braised pork. The pork literally melts in your mouth!!! Flavored so well too. Drooling as I'm writing this... they have some sauces on the side and we tried their red peppers. Spicy and delicious ~ I'd highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Taipei. Get there at noon and order the large!! Not doing that was our only mistake :(

Yelp
One of the first luroufan places I went to in Taipei. Really happy to eat here again after more than a year! A little hard to find, it's on a side street by a park. The luroufan is juicy, the pork is tender, and the veggies are fresh. This luroufan didn't come with a fried egg, but I still enjoy the flavorful sauce.

Yelp
Stayed at the Aloft hotel and this place was nearly a block away. This is your typical Taiwanese restaurant. There is indoor seating but no A/C. If you are targeted by mosquitoes like me, not a good place to chow. But the food is really good. Come here for the takeout, eat at your hotel room. Awesome stuff. I got the chicken shredded rice which was good. Recommend getting a stewed egg as an add on. For foreigners, make sure you come with someone who speaks Chinese. They definitely do not speak English here. Menus are in Chinese as well.

Yelp
Pretty authentic Taiwanese cuisine, famous for their braised pork rice / braised hock. Always a line for take-out during lunch/dinner. I usually order their lunch box for take outs. There is A/C now if you dine-in.
