The 12 Best Restaurants At George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)

"Gate A26 We know you might not think you need a burger topped with a Philly cheesesteak and smothered onions between flights, but you would be wrong. The tiny outpost of Hubcap Grill—while the original Heights location closed, you can find other Hubcap Grills in Pearland and Galveston—in Terminal A offers this addictive Frankensteined burger that we would possibly square up to someone over. Order up a milkshake or a beer on the side and indulge." - chelsea thomas, gianni greene

Where to Eat at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) - Eater Houston

"There’s no better way to prepare for a flight than downing a big greasy burger and plenty of beer, and this Houston favorite is the perfect spot to do just that. Park your luggage and enjoy bacon-topped patties served on locally baked buns and killer hand-cut fries. Add a boozy milkshake if you’re looking to get festive." - Brittany Britto Garley

Google
Waiting for the plane after the snow storm. Decided to give Hubcap a try. First thing, please update your menu that is on the airport website. Two totally different menus between that and what is offered onsite. I ordered the Crawford Bock. $11.50 a pour. Very tasty Bock. Very surprised for a local beer as a bock, to me, are not something I usually see from a local brewery. I thought it would be darker, but it was on the lighter side. Ordered the bacon cheese fries with ranch and jalapenos. Food came out fast and it was hot. Perfect. Could not ask for anything better today. Lastly, I know you may be saving money using the solo cups for serving beer, but it gets warm pretty quick. I recommend getting some pint glasses and chill them.

Google
The Philly cheese steak burger is super tasty. Service is great and fast. Monica is a real pro as bartender -- thank you! I only wish the beer didn't come in a plastic cup.

Andres Zapata

Google
Great spot for a morning breakfast right before flight. Staff were friendly and very fast. Had to take it To Go and eat it on plane but the Breakfast platter hit the spot onboard flight. Highly recommended will be returning here prior to all morning flights.

Google
Bartender and management were excellent. We were all dealing with delays and one woman decided she was more important than everyone. She was taught that she was not and encouraged to leave. Excellent experience, Monica deserves an excellent tip on any visit.

Angel CR

Google
Good experience. It was our first time eating in, as I usually get breakfast tacos to go. Angel, our server, was very pleasant. Great service and he checked in on us regularly. We got The Hangover Burger and the Bacon Cheeseburger baskets. Everything was cooked well and presented well. Overall, A+ service.

Nelly

Google
Better than the other food places at the airport

Google
Had a delayed flight in Terminal A. I decided to grab a drink and snack. The service was wonderful and quick. My Bloody Mary was delicious and looked like a salad. Just ordered cheese fries, but the portion was generous.

Google
A nice spot in terminal A! We stopped in for a drink and some fries on a Tuesday AM flight home. It was the only full-service restaurant open at 9:00. Quite frustrated with other restaurants for not being open, but this place didn't disappoint. The server was phenomenal, the beers cold, and the fries piping hot. We'll be back next time United sends us to terminal A :-)

Yelp
These guys do almost as well at the airport as they do at their regular locations. This is an airport stop. It should be fair to compare it to the regular joint, but I tend to give airport restaurants some grace. The burger is fine. Not as good as good as an actual (non-airport location. The staff was wonderful on my visit.
google avatar

Kristen H.

Yelp
Not bad it was just the first restaurant in front of me after my flight. Ten dollar loaded Philly cheese steak fries were fine and kinda affordable for the airport. Mostly carbs. The fries weren't great tbh but the steak was good. Super greasy. Ingredients seem kinda basic. Not much in the way of service but they were about to close. I dunno. Solid average place I guess.

Yelp
Better food than getting fast food in terminal A by gates A26 and A27. Monica was very pleasant and the hamburger was made with fresh ingredients. Sweet potatoes fries were cooked perfectly, not soggy or too crispy. Great stop before, after or in between flights.

Tanesha M.

Yelp
We were not able to eat here because they closed the grill down 40 minutes before closing. Just seems like something that should be mentioned before letting us order. We left but had to pay for the drinks we got since we had already opened them.

Yelp
Cute little spot in the 25 - 30 terminal. Exceptionally clean and cheery. Service was fast and friendly and my Philly Cheese Steak Burger was great. A great experience, in a place that they usually are not!
google avatar

Yolanda M.

Yelp
I ordered a breakfast burrito with sweet potato fries. They brought me the wrong fries. The next thing was I found pieces of chicken in my fries . The manager said they use one fryer. While I sat at the restaurant the manager ate her meal next to me and went back and forth serving plates. I wouldn't eat here again and I'll be contacting corporate to get a refund. The waitress service was also subpar and she was not friendly at all. They need more vegetarian options.

Yelp
Location Between Gate 25-27 in Terminal A. Ambiance Airport bar-dare I suggest that it's the singing server bar! Sports on three large tv's Seating Bar, long bar across from the bar. Service Erica rocked it! Especially enjoyed watching and hearing them sing along to the tunes! Menu We were so very hungry-hadn't eaten all day-so did not take a pix of the Philly burger. It was very yum! Huge burger- bun was adequate-could have been better but okay. They should offer lettuce and tomato! The fries/tater tots were inviting but keto calls. Summary What a treat to meet Erica and her team of singing servers! Outstanding service and food!!

Yelp
One of the better food choices in terminal A (which is pretty sparce) in my opinion. It did take me some time to find as it's tucked away by gate A26. But I'm glad I took the time to find it. The walk allowed me to explore more of the terminal and see some of the art displayed down the halls. The staff is very polite and helpful which is always appreciated (especially since I imagine working in an airport restaurant with heavy drink options can provide challenges). The menu isn't too diverse but does have something for everyone. I really appreciated being able to get a normal sized burger with only regular toppings (which seems to be rare these days). The meat was cooked well and was juicy, though bland. It was a bit frustrating that the fries were a separate side order As far as drinks, they have a huge range of alcoholic options. However they only have one cider option (and the blood orange flavor at that). As someone who doesn't drink beer, it would be great to at least have a plain cider flavor as an option. I did opt for a ranch water which was more "aggressive" than I would like but really one of the only drink options aside from beer before jumping up to liquor. There's 2 rows of seats that I imagine get filled up quickly. One row faces the bar, the other out to the terminal. All are stool height so no normal height tables fir those that may have trouble using stools. I do appreciate the bag hooks at each seat and the plugs at each seat as well. The tvs were all playing sports when I was there. Not surprising but nothing tht interests me personally. Another thing worth noting is at one point the music overpowered the flight announcements. It did get changed/turned down but it's worth noting so no one misses their departure.

Yelp
THE NEW SPOT: The Hub Cap Grill in Santa Fe, Tx. The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding, the prefect place to enjoy a delicious burger with an ice cold beer. I ordered the Jalapeño cheese burger with golden panko crusted onion rings. The burger was perfectly seasoned and grilled with melted cheese and the buns were grilled, fresh and hot, it was topped off with long slices of pickled jalapeños. It was delicious and will definitely revisit. They have a very good selection of burgers, fries, appetizers and house sodas. And the icing on the cake, they have a full bar and a good selection of beers.

Tony N.

Yelp
For $75.00, 2 micro sliders. Burgers are smaller than a child's burger at McDonald's. This place is an overpriced joke. The waitress was awesome !!

Yelp
We stopped here for breakfast before a flight. I'd rather have gone hungry. We each had the All American Breakfast Platter, which featured underdone French Fries, bacon that was not cooked crispy as we specifically asked, and two fried eggs that actually weren't bad. Overall, the food was forgettable. The service was fast, though, which helps in an airport. It just irritates me that the selections at IAH before 7AM are sooooo limited. Next time we'll bite the bullet and fast food it!

Amy W.

Yelp
I am from Houston and familiar with Hubcap grill which is normally delicious. This airport location is not the Hubcap Grill that Houston knows and loves. The service was fabulous. The food...terrible and misrepresented. Tots came out cold and the Sticky Burger was supposed to have crunchy peanut butter but had creamy. You may think that doesn't make a difference but it 100% does. The server asked and the kitchen staff stated they don't have that. You can see from the photos what little I ate if my entire meal. No one said a word...no one offered to discount my meal. I will never return to this location. Disappointed.

Yelp
Service-4 Got my order on quickly. FOOD 3- Burger-dry and gritty. (Skimped on the cheese-not with the extra$$). all served on yesterday's dry bun. Ok in a pinch when your flight is delayed by 9 hours.

Sharalee G.

Yelp
Burger was overcooked and dry. Fries were cold and limp. Service was slow and they were more interested talking to each other.
google avatar

Thomas H.

Yelp
If you're looking for a place to have a drink and some food, then this is your place. If you're just looking for a burger, go to Wendy's. It's in the same terminal and it'll probably be cheaper as well. There's other options as well. Burger I had was dry for the most part and flavorless. Service was good. The staff did a good job. Food was just blah.

Yelp
I visited this establishment in Terminal A Houston Bush Intercontinental before I went to the gate for work. I looked at the menu and I didn't see any vegetarian option for burger/sandwich, so I asked the young lady at the cashier if she had plant-based burger and she said no. I did in fact mention that oh, your restaurant doesn't cater to vegetarians, bc most restaurants, especially national chain restaurants do have plant-based options. I placed my order at 12pm on 7/17/28 and I had to be at the gate at 1235. I asked the young lady could I get my fries and she said she'd check on that and in the meantime, other people's multi to go orders had come out and gone, but no fries. I'm not gonna lie, I was annoyed, bc fries should been very simple order to prepare in my opinion. She finally brought out my fries and said, "It took 19 minutes for your fries, ma'am and have a nice day!". I didn't say anything, bc I had to report to my gate and the fact that she was holding out on my fries on purpose for what reason, I really don't know. I didn't tip her, bc she was neither prompt nor courteous. I thought she had a very poor attitude to say that and took out her anger/bitterness out on me. It left me a very bad lasting impression. I don't want anyone to lose their job, but if you're in a service industry and you pick and choose who you want to treat fabulous and not treat fabulous, maybe, you need to find a different profession. What she did and said to me was rude. I'm a grown professional woman and I'm not going to engage in a petty nonsense with a child, but I will definitely write a review about my experience with your staff at your establishment. By the way, after what she said to me, I didn't even eat the fries, bc I didn't know what she did with them and I didn't want to find out. I got something to eat when I landed in Miami Airport.

Yelp
Nice waitstaff, but the food was ok at best. I will say that the prices weren't bad - they were about the same as Chick-Fil-A.
google avatar

Rozalynn B.

Yelp
Airport food as we all know is usually bullshit... Welp, they did a great job! I ordered a burger w/bacon and a fried egg w/fries & a fender bender drink. The prices for airport food was great too. Can't beat the prices SERIOUSLY! Quick & very friendly service too. Space is limited and they were packed when I walked up but the service was so quick I was in & out. My food was delicious by the way! Everything was fresh which I appreciate the most!
google avatar

Amir M.

Yelp
They charge for tap water, the burgers are basically like burgers you'd make at home with frozen Pattie's from the super market, and the place isn't cheap.
google avatar

Raymond S.

Yelp
Stay away, far far away. The place is dirty, no COVID cleaning or even wiping down the tables at all. Staff went out of their way to ensure the customers knew they were not welcome and didn't want their business. I left in less than 10 minutes. Based on the low hygiene standards I'm sure I made the right decision.
google avatar

Ra'Quel B.

Yelp
The white lady that's working today needs to have more people skills for ALL people ! Managers you need to check your schedule and see who you have working 6/27/20 at 1pm. I was ordering wine and my husband was going to sit with me while I drunk my wine and she basically urged us to leave. Meanwhile she just spoke very rudely to a older elderly man trying to enjoy his mean he just purchased from this place, telling him he had to go. She needs to find a NEW JOB! Learn how to properly talk to your customers but with the reviews from this place already I see why they are so low.

Mike E.

Yelp
Terrible service. Made an order to go. Cashier screwed it up. Late for plane Not sure I will even be able to get the meal.
google avatar

Mark D.

Yelp
Just another overpriced MEH airport dining experience. Redeeming feature was it's proximity to American's domestic gates at IAH, A-27 to A-30. Patty melt was totally unremarkable, as were it's accompanying fries. I tried to be adventurous with a sticky burger ( a bacon cheeseburger topped with peanut butter) but the heat of the sandwich just turned the PB all soupy, and it didn't do anything for me at all. The lack of room with all the customers with their luggage made it hard to get comfortable. The only good things were they had Lagunitas IPA and the server, although not of an upbeat personality, was at least efficient and available.
google avatar

Tessie E.

Yelp
In Houston's airport. Breakfast was pretty decent. I enjoyed the sweet potato fries. The sandwich was good too. I really wish it was not on a bun.
google avatar

Brittany M.

Yelp
In my experience yesterday, the service was great. I sat at the bar and ordered a cheeseburger and a beer. The burger meat was a little salty and the bun was way too much bread, but it wasn't terrible. This is probably the best option for food in terminal A.
google avatar

Bradley N.

Yelp
since Papa Brothers lost concession contract at Houston Hobby airport, the new company has brought in these new restaurants! Needless to say, this one is horrible! Chicken on the chicken sandwich was rubbery and hard to chew! The burgers couldn't even beat a Sonic burger. Service was ok but unorganized. There seemed to be a lack of leadership present to help run things efficiently! Food at Wendy's in food court is better! Go there instead!
google avatar

Katy R.

Yelp
Located in the airport, near gates A27-30 so there are other options but when your gate is here - you are here. I have seen it packed beyond belief before but today was easy to find a spot on the rail. Ordered quickly, wasn't super impressed with the menu but what I picked was great. So what they lack in healthy options they at least make up for in taste. Quick service, easy lunch and on my way so can't complain!
google avatar

Edward D.

Yelp
It's OK, If you in between flights, or wanted to grab something before your flight. This is a perfect place to eat. Burger is OK, you can't expect to be great. Service was good, and really quick. Again, what do you expect at the airport.
google avatar

Greg J.

Yelp
Took our seat and waited 10 min to be greeted. We were placing our order, and the waitress walked away mid sentence. She can back a few minutes later for our drink order and 20 min later my Bloody Mary came out. Nobody ever took our food order, so I left for my plane
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
Stopped here to grab a sandwich and a Bloody Mary. Got through my sandwich and still waiting for Bloody Mary. Waitress, nice lady said she was waiting for it. I told the lady behind the bar who turned out to be the Manager Mary to 86 the drink and that she is to blame for the waitresses lesser tip. I could here her bitching and complaining typical hood rat about my comment. Shared my concern with nice waitress how surprised Manager Mary so unprofessional. Will recommend that people stay away from here.
google avatar

Jeannie W.

Yelp
Cute lil bar. Service is quick and friendly staff. They offer local h town fave craft beers. Prices are decent. Ordered the grilled mushroom chicken burger with taror tots. Fair tots were good. The chicken was overly seasoned, very salty. Overall for a quick bite this place is decent, I'd at least probably stop in for a drink and tator tots again

Angela S.

Yelp
When I arrived I requested take out service but was told by the attending cashier that her shift was over and I would have to wait for the incoming cashier to take my order. She indicated that he was already 30 minutes late. A few minutes later the Manager/cashier arrived and went to the back. There was no acknowledgement of the growing line of customers awaiting service. Very poor management.

Shakil K.

Yelp
Food is great! I got the burger and tater tots and they were amazing! Would definitely come back here. The service is solid as well. Great vibes and would come back next time I'm flying from IAH
google avatar

Robert L.

Yelp
The best part of this dining experience is the prompt friendly service. For the size of this airport food stop they have a reasonable selection of craft and commercial beer. A plain 1/3 lb burger cost $6.95 add regular basket of fries for $3.29. The burger did not hold up start to finish and was forced to finish with knife and fork add the bun fell apart. The burger was overly seasoned. If your shoddy on time my service experience was quick in and out in about 20 mintues.
google avatar

Ian G.

Yelp
Just my luck. My flight was delayed and spirit offered no food. We went to Hubcap Grill and there food was priced right and very tasty. The waiter was friendly and service was awesome
google avatar

Clarissa K.

Yelp
Location, location, location can't get much better across from my gate where my flight was leaving from. They have a counter to sit and look out at the gate so you won't miss your boarding group. Service was a 5+ excellent quick and once you order the food comes quick too. As for the food and drink quality well no hot tea for breakfast. But server brought a to go cup with ice water. Had a fried egg and cheese sandwich served on a hamburger bun. I guess they like to multi purpose with their bread items. The large bun sopped up the grease from the fried egg. I was hungry so it fit the bill for breakfast. If I knew better I would have planned something else. But it was an early flight so this worked out ok.
google avatar

Cathy G.

Yelp
Fast and friendly service and better than the normal airport fare. I would visit snd partake again.
google avatar

Rachel P.

Yelp
Ehhhh not much to say about this place. Very crowded and food was ok. Considering that you are limited on options since you are in the airport, it's ok. I would've rather tried the mexican place down the terminal though.
google avatar

Mcgrubbin S.

Yelp
Cool spot to have a few drinks/food before your flight. "IZET" was very attentive to all customers needs. I'm glad I stopped by.
google avatar

Jeremiah M.

Yelp
I was so excited to have a "Hubcap" at my place of work. I've been a huge fan of the Downtown and Heights locations. This location falls very short on quality. My coworker and I picked up two burgers for lunch. We both had the same complaints. 1. The bun was "off". Brand? Stale? Not sure. 2. The burger was over cooked. Very dry. 3. SO SALTY!!! I left half of it on the plate because it was so salty.
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
Grabbed a to go snack pack. Was surprised by the decent quality and the fast service! Atmosphere: bar restaurant Service: fast and generally friendly Food: snack pack I got had grapes, cheese, dried fruit and some crackers Overall fine for what I was looking for. Definitely not fine dining but edible
google avatar

Kayla N.

Yelp
Surprisingly decent bacon cheeseburger. We were at the gate right across from this place at IAH.
google avatar

Darris J.

Yelp
It's ok, lay out is bad. Wheel chaired need not stay and dine you won't fit through the aisle as you almost have to turn sideways to navigate to the high top counters. Bartending staff socialized too much be it with each other or drunk patrons. The food, it's alright nothing spectacular.
google avatar

Joel H.

Yelp
Stops serving food at 4 pm. Give me a break. Only good near my gate. Eat before you get to airport. Half of restaurants closed. I arrived at 4:01 btw.
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
Ordered fries to hold me over for the flight. The attendant at the to-go podium was more interested in chatting with her co-worker rather than helping customers. I expect so-so service at places like these in the airport, but I was also looking forward to freshly cooked, crispy fries. Instead I was disappointed with bland, soggy, mushy ones. I would suggest going to Wendy's on the other side of the terminal unless you're going to have a beer... Then again, there are also other options at this airport with more drink choices.

Ashley C.

Yelp
This little ball of sunshine, Jessica, will be the reason I return to this grill when traveling. She was quick, efficient, polite and so very personable. We stopped in for a delicious breakfast and I was so happy to try the fresh tater tots. Highly recommend.

Kay K.

Yelp
I did not even get to try the food, while standing in line 2 rats ran out of the kitchen in the back. Just wanted to let others know before dining here. The host wasn't even shocked as if it was normal to this establishment, nasty work!
google avatar

Heather F.

Yelp
Great location right across from my gate. The service was fantastic. Rick was very attentive to everyone there, making sure everyone had what they needed. I had a Salted Caramel shake, cheeseburger, and sweet potato fries. The food came out quickly. The burger is bigger than the bun. The food was good, the service was great, the prices are great. The woman next to me ordered a spicy Bloody Mary. I added the photo of that magnificent drink!

James L.

Yelp
Extremely rude waitstaff that act as if they have something more important to be doing other than taking care of you as a customer!!
