The Holiday Gift Guide for New Orleans Food Lovers | Eater New Orleans

"The beloved local sweet treat made a celebrated return in late 2022; a box of a dozen mix-and-match pies — now including the recently returned blueberry and sweet potato flavors — makes an excellent gift for New Orleanians who’ve moved away or friends in town who don’t want to hunt down favorite flavors." - Clair Lorell

‘Queer Eye’ Drops New Orleans Trailer Featuring Local Sandwich Hero Dan Stein | Eater New Orleans

"I learned that Hubig’s has confirmed limited quantities of chocolate Hubig’s Pies have hit shelves in New Orleans about six months after the first two flavors, apple and lemon, returned; chocolate pies will begin being delivered to stores in greater quantities starting Monday, May 8 and will soon be available online. The company resumed production in late 2022 after a five-alarm fire destroyed its Marigny factory, and coconut, peach, and pineapple remain to be re-released." - Clair Lorell

Hubig’s Pies Are Hitting NOLA Shelves Sooner Than Expected — Here’s Where to Get Yours | Eater New Orleans

"I was shocked when Hubig’s owners popped up on South Carrollton Avenue, just blocks from the Oak Street Po-Boy Festival, selling lemon and apple Hubig’s Pies — two of the brand’s most popular flavors — and reportedly sold out of at least 9,000 pies that day (an initial run of 7,000–7,500 by 12:30 p.m., plus another 2,000 rushed from the production facility). Founded in 1921 and long considered a New Orleans staple alongside beignets and pralines, Hubig’s suffered a five-alarm fire that destroyed its Marigny factory in 2012, and Otto and Drew Ramsey (and family) have spent the last decade trying to revive the brand amid several false starts that left residents skeptical, making this pop-up especially surprising. The company debuted a new website where customers can order a box of a dozen lemon, apple, or mix-and-match pies for $60 (boxes were available for order Monday morning), with other flavors like chocolate, coconut, peach, and pineapple and seasonal varieties such as sweet potato, blueberry, and cherry to follow; however, planned deliveries to Rouses, Robert’s, Winn-Dixie, Dorignac’s, and Zuppardo’s were delayed after the factory reported a “production error” and a machine breakdown, so some stores had not received shipments as of Monday morning." - Clair Lorell

Hubig’s Pies Hiring Post Sparks Fresh Hope for Return of Famed Hand Pies | Eater New Orleans

"After the Dauphine Street factory was destroyed by a fire, I’ve been on a decade‑long emotional rollercoaster with Hubig’s Pies; recently Hubig’s devotees were buoyed when a Reddit user spotted an executive’s Facebook post about hiring and owner Drew Ramsey confirmed the company is indeed assembling a team for a new production facility, though the job listing has since been paused after an overwhelming response and some customers remain skeptical—“I’ll believe it when I eat it.”" - Clair Lorell

Always love a Hubig’s pie! We have had more since their comeback than all the years combined before the fire. The team is always helpful with mail orders( especially when we recently had a problem at the delivery site). The personalized pies are huge hits-so fun! We proudly wear our Hubig’s merchandise-especially the pie costumes during Carnival. The cafe au lait was enjoyed by the coffee drinkers in our circle.

I fell in love with these delicious little hand pies while visiting the region. I have since ordered a box a few times for delivery to California. They're amazing. The seasonal cherry and peach pies are probably my favs, but the coconut and chocolate are truly incredible. Highly recommended

Having grown up with Hubig Pies I have developed a great fondness for them. Whether Lemon, chocolate, berry, coconut or the other flavors I find my favorite is the one I am enjoying at the moment. I am thrilled they have returned after the fire that decimated the old plant and hope they continue making their wonderful pies forever.

These pies used to be so good. Now it’s just a sad excuse to try to revamp such a great name. First of all the shelf life of the new pies are way to short. Second. It’s too much crust. Not enough pie. The apple filling is too thick and nearly a jelly or a paste not a pie filling consistency. The lemon isn’t nearly as bad but it too is too much crust. Third is the consistency of the crust. It is too hard. Even after placing in the microwave still there is no way I can enjoy this brick made hand pie. Forth. The glaze used to be thicker it is almost like sugar water on them now. This means more flake and fall off and the pies become even more less enjoyable. I honestly hope the HUGIB’S can correct these issues that will be the demise of there brand. Many many people agree and have more issues that need to be addressed because you can’t rely of the nostalgia to sell a bad product.

Earlier this week bought 2 Hubig's cream cheese flavored king cakes and there as no cream cheese filling. No filling at all. Neighbors are reporting the same. Bought from Roberts.

Tried four different flavors this weekend :coconut, peach, and a couple other fruits. Not at all impressed by these pies. the pastry was dry, extremely dense, and tough. I tried them right out of the package and then I heated in the microwave per instruction. I ended up throwing them away. I would not recommend these little boat anchors.

I made my first order of a dozen of their pies and couldn't be happier! Not only were the pies delicious, but their customer service was top tier! I had a problem with my order when in arrived, so I contacted Hubig's and they were very friendly and helpful. They fixed the issue right away and were a joy. I will DEFINITELY order from them again soon!!

Recently, we visited Nola and were excited to find some pies in a convenience store. We used to get them before the fire whenever we visited from New York. So we bought a dozen to bring back home. They were as good as we remembered! After eating them all, we ordered a box to be shipped, including the seasonal cherry pie. Yummy! When we called their customer service with some questions about freezing and shipping time, the person on the phone was very helpful and courteous. Can you give Marc a raise? Now we are about to order some more. How am I ever going to get on this diet?!!
