Hudson Garden Grill

We were visiting the Botanical Garden on Mothers’ Day and got hungry so decided to try this place for lunch! We didn’t have a reservation but were able to make one for about an hour & 15 minutes later for outside dining on their patio. The outdoor dining vibe is more casual that indoors, but it actually suited us better since we had little kids dining with us and they were free to go and chase some squirrels or run around while we waited for our food! The food was great, the burrata was our favorite, even the kids loved it! I could have licked the plate to be honest, loved the cheese and all the sauces and veggies! The kids meals were good enough, they’re about $15-19 each and include a beverage. One my kids had the pasta with butter sauce which they liked and the other had the chicken tenders with French fries. I had the salmon dish, the salmon was amazing but I did not love the accompaniments, the grains were fine but the carrots were basically raw, I would have preferred them more cooked. The service was great, the food came out quickly and overall this was a great dining experience for us! It’s def on the pricey side (almost $200 for lunch with tip included) but in my opinion def worth it!!

The ambience is great--- such a beautiful space! The service was a little slow but what place isn't these days. They were at least nice! Took a while for our food to come out but we weren't in a rush so it was okay. The burrata was amazing--- definitely order it! The veggie burger was disappointing --- thought it would be more than just a frozen patty. The salad we got was just okay. We had a great lunch experience overall ($100 for two with two drinks). We'd recommend!

We love going to this restaurant on visits to the NYBG. I don’t know if the staff had been prepped to go fast because it was Father’s Day but everything arrived too quickly. Our apps arrived before our drinks. Our entrees arrived whilst we were eating apps. Then when we wanted mayonnaise and a glass of wine there was no one to be seen. It’s a shame because the food is excellent. Let people enjoy it.

Having been a longtime NYBG member, I've seen the changes at this restaurant and despite other snobbish reviews that this place went downhill, I totally disagree. I love the inclusiveness of diversity in the staff now which adds another flavor to the food that wasn't there before. I saw that the staff was managed effectively to serve in a very seamless way. In fact, the manager, JC came in to check on me and I also witnessed him eager to serve the customers and asking how their experience is - nice added touch to the dining experience. I had a variety of food because I was entertaining an important guest from out of town and he found the food and experience absolutely exquisite. He probably also felt right at home since he was from Madrid, Spain and conversed with JC. It felt very welcoming. I believe those previous reviews that mentioned the food or staff wasn't up to par had too much starch up their shirts. Nowadays it is difficult to find how "the old days" had been and time to adapt to the new modern embrace of the beauty of diversity. Food was just delicious!

NYBG Hudson garden grill visit on Saturday, April 6 the New York botanical gardens is my go to place to relax and enjoy the outdoors in this majestic environment of beauty and nature. One of my to dos, is to dine at the Hudson Grill. I have enjoyed the food but sometimes i think the chef is plating for me a smaller portion of chicken or maybe I love to eat great tasting dishes and want more. I constantly order the roasted chicken with string beans and potatoes. the string beans is cooked in tomato sauce, the potatoes has a lemon flavor while the chicken has herbs. I wasn’t sure about the combination with the tomato and lemon flavors but this dish works. I can’t wait to try the new spring/summer menu.

Quick summary: Horrible service, cold bread, tasteless salads, mediocre food, not worth the price, do not recommend. Please visit the garden but don’t come to Hudson Garden Grill to eat. My partner and I are big fans of NYBG so we were very excited and eager to try the Hudson Garden Grill. Unfortunately, our experience was pretty disappointing and put a damper on our night. We thought it was a nice restaurant, but we were proved wrong. The dining experience was way below our expectations, and frankly quite frustrating and upsetting. NYBG is so amazing and incredible that having such dismal quality food and service at Hudson Garden Grill is almost embarrassing. I’m just grateful we didn’t come here for a special occasion like we planned to because the dinner would’ve ruined our night. The service was absolutely abysmal, and it was so difficult to get a hold of our waiter. It took some time for us to get some water after we sat down and when we asked what the vegetable of the day was, our waiter left to check and didn’t return for another 15 minutes. When we finally got our appetizers, I cut into the focaccia and the center was cold. I would’ve asked if we could have the bread heated up, but we couldn’t get ahold of our waiter. We gave up trying to ask our waiter for help and when he finally came to check on us, we had long finished our entrees and the plates were cleared. Also, quick note on the focaccia, it was dense, not airy and bubbly at all like focaccia should be, but maybe I would’ve enjoyed it more if it weren’t so cold. The kabocha squash appetizer was mediocre and somehow very dry and not flavourful. I love kabocha squash and this was the first time I’ve had it prepared in a way that I didn’t like. The beet salad was fine. Since it was a salad, we expected there to be more greens. We also added the tofu for an extra $8 and it was not worth it because the tofu is seared on two sides and then cubed, so some tofu cubes looked cooked and others were just a plain cube of tofu. Regardless, it lacked flavour and didn’t taste as fresh as we thought it would. The salad also just looked a little sad. The lamb tagliatelle pasta was good, but over salted. Pasta was cooked well but the lamb was too salty. The flourless chocolate cake was fine, the ginger and fig on top didn’t really pair well with the chocolate cake in my opinion, but the presentation was nice. I didn’t like eating on the piece of paper covering the cloth table cloth, but I guess it’s easier to clean so I understand. I also tried the blueberry smash. I wish they gave me a straw or a stir stick or something to stir my drink so that the blueberry syrup/flavouring wasn’t all at the bottom and the soda all at the top. It made the drink tasteless in the beginning and too sweet at the end. But again, I couldn’t get ahold of the waiter to ask. I really cannot recommend any of the dishes I’ve tried and I do not recommend coming to the Hudson Garden Grill. I really wish I had better things to say but this was such a disappointing dinner experience that we will never come back nor will we recommend it to our friends.

I recently visited this restaurant with high expectations, but unfortunately, I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. While the atmosphere and staff were pleasant, the quality of the food didn't quite meet my expectations. The dishes, though presented nicely, lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping for. It seemed as if some of the ingredients were not as fresh as they could have been, which impacted the overall taste. Additionally, the portion sizes were smaller than anticipated, leaving me still feeling somewhat hungry after the meal. In summary, while the experience wasn't terrible, I believe there's room for improvement in terms of food quality and portion sizes. I hope the restaurant takes these comments into consideration and makes the necessary adjustments to enhance future dining experiences.

I came here for the orchid show and we made reservations to the Hudson Garden Grill which was a beautiful venue with decent food! Food: we ordered the burrata and an apple beryy cake to share and I got the chicken sandwich! We never ended up getting the burrata, which was actually kind of great bc the rest of the food was filling! The chicken sandwich was a glorified fried chicken sandwich that honestly was too greasy for my liking! I got the salad on the side which helped. Overall, the food was fine but nothing to rave about! Ambience: this place wins bc of ambience! It's beautiful inside and it is very upscale and classy! Service: service was good and they gave us a free dessert for my friends birthday! Price: for what the dinner was, I think it's very pricey - the chicken sandwich was $26 not including tax or tip!

Great place to come for food. We are garden members who attend nearly every NYBG show / event in a given year. I was excited about the new Alice show and, as a fan of afternoon tea, was especially looking forward to themed dining at Hudson Garden Grill. I'm writing this review to help folks with a similar mindset to manage their expectations. The non-themed food items were delicious and consistent with our other garden experiences. Their tea service, however, was profoundly disappointing. Here's a list of things I had to request: cream, enough pots of water for everyone in my party, SAUCERS for our teacups, a knife to spread jam (because we were only given spoons too big to fit into the jam jar), and lemons so that the advertised color-changing quality of the butterfly pea flower tea could actually be experienced. I had to literally explain why we needed lemons: without lemons, the tea wouldn't change color. We never even got plates for tea, so everyone just tried perching their treats on the end of the saucers, because, at that point, I was too annoyed to ask for one more basic item. I'll also note that sugar is presented in packets like you're at a diner, and the tea is offered as a mix of individually sealed teabags or loose teabags for you to brew by yourself at the table. These are just casually tossed on the table. And, the sugar cookies were visibly over baked. This component of our dining experience was just jarringly out of step with the rest of the meal. The salad was presented like a work of art! The tea and desserts were presented like a sloppy afterthought. In short: gardens, great. Alice installation, wonderful. The rest of the menu, lovely. Avoid the tea experience.

We were there for the Orchid Show early April, and made a reservation here b/c there were no tables available when we visited NYBG last yr. The interior was beautiful. We wereOctopus seated quickly by the wall, the view through the windows was just gorgeous! The food and cocktail menu had good variety. I ordered the pulpo, and it was grilled to perfection, tender and flavorful. My husband had the Hudson burger, and it was delicious, too. The service was good and friendly. Don't forget to make a reservation here when you visit NYBG next time

It's a welcome respite when touring the gardens. Nice surroundings. The food is very good. The service can be a bit spotty, but overall a good experience.

I had a lovely experience at this restaurant earlier today. Host, Carlos is incredible and very friendly and accommodating Waiter, Luis was great & made our meal very pleasant! I was really stunned at the unique Alice & Wonderland menu, it was so cool & all the food & drinks were delicious!!! The service here is wonderful & so is the decor. It's a lovely place in a beautiful garden

Great food in a peaceful dining experience. The short ribs were really cooked well and tasty.

Located inside the New York Botanical Garden, it is one of the pricier dining choices, but it's very convenient and air-conditioned on a hot summer day. The quality of the food here is mediocre at best. The grilled chicken was overly salty, the fries tasted like it was fried in old oil, and while the burger is passable, it's overwhelmed by an excessive amount of bacon bits, making rendering every bite quite salty. The beverage glasses for our drinks were visibly dirty, with unidentifiable black specks. Even the water they served us in the blue cups was tainted with oil. On a positive note, the ambiance was pleasant, and the service was friendly.

We strolled in without a reservation after visiting the daytime holiday train show. The inner dining room was beautiful and quiet. Everything was decked out for the winter season. We were 4 adults and 2 kids and were seated promptly in the outdoor covered and heated patio. We were politely notified that we only had until 5 to dine. We had no issues with this, and to the staff credit they worked hard to get us seated, watered, and fed in the allotted time frame. We got the kids menu items first, because nobody wants hangry little folks. We had the burger, soup du jour (clam chowder), and salade nicoise. Everything was right. Kids portions and adult portions were generous and most importantly tasty. They checked on us throughout and everything went smoothly. This place exceeded my expectations, I didn't expect much since I figured they would cater to a captive audience, and I am so pleased and hope to be back.

Three stars for the beautiful room. 1 star for food. The Hudson burger was impossible to pick up to eat with a roll that was drenched and falling apart. The country salad was drowning in the dressing. No one came over to see how everything was.

The first time I was here I loved the place but I can't say the same this time. Our salad and pasta was a little too salty. Our waiter left us for 30 minutes after our food was served. We were literally sat there waiting for him to take our coffee and dessert order. We had to waive down another waitstaff for help. It sure can't handle the volume of customers when we were there. The place is always nice and clean. It is a very relaxing atmosphere.

I didn't want to go to the take out places to eat, and so I found this place through Yelp and decided to find my way here when I was here for a winter exhibit. I like their burger better than what I ordered, which was the crispy chicken sandwich. It was just too hard to eat. The fries were good and I ordered their Ginger Smash drink that was so refreshing.

Love it here! When visiting the botanical garden, this is a must!!! The open kitchen space is very inviting and the sitting area is also very cozy and comfortable! The food is fresh and delicious. We ordered the burger, mahi mahi and the sweet potato fries.

Honestly wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved the Spring Pappardelle, which had all the punch, richness, tartness, and textures you could want from a well-executed vegan pasta. This dish alone would be a 5 in my book, but the rest is a 3, averaging to 4. The Farro Salad was underwhelming but not necessarily bad; the best part was the smokiness of the grilled peppers, but the texture and balance of ingredients could be greatly improved. Really pretty place but rather overpriced.

Every time we visit NYBG we stop by Hudson Garden for lunch. It is expensive, hard to find seat but they make really good food. This time I tried the Hudson burger and it was amazing!!!! Didn't have such delicious juicy perfectly cooked burger in a long time. They perfectly balance it with remaining of the ingredients like lettuce, cheese and sauce. Some of their other items like half chicken under a brick and lamb pasta are also so good. The interior of the restaurant is very nice, I should say artistic. Reservation is highly encouraged.

Very good fresh tasting food and ingredients, just like farm to table. Nice menu for fish, meat and veggies, nice vegan dishes as well. Service is nice and friendly, no rush to get you out, servers are very professional and will make great selections as well as explain the menu if you need. Great Ambiance, well lite, nice bright decor, with beautiful live orchids on each table fresh from within the garden, the manager was explaining to us. We go for late breakfast or early lunch, and even brunch. Very comfortable environment, staff is great, chef is great and top notch management. They aim to give you a nice relaxing dinning experience

I went here with my partner. We walked in. Inside the room is mostly wood. There are a few seats in the middle of the room, bench seats by the window, and bar seats. We were a bit surprised to see it was not a typical restaurant. You order at the cash register and sit. Our food was brought to us.We ordered the three meat weekend special that included brisket, BX bomber wings, and rib tips with a side of collard greens and Mac and cheese. The food was subpar. Everything lacked seasoning and depth of flavor. The Mac and cheese tasted like plastic. The collard greens tasted overwhelmingly sweet, the brisket was dry and the wings were the best thing. In contrast to the food, the service was great. The cashier and front of the house staff were friendly.

Like everyone else, came in for lunch before the Orchid Show. We didn't have reservations but was lucky enough to snag bar seating for three with a fantastic view of the kitchen, which I prefer tbh. We ordered the tuna tataki, mussel toast, lamb tagiatelle and the roasted cauliflower. I thought everything was presented well and tasted super fresh. My mom loved everything she ate and as long as she's happy, we are happy. So, great mom spot!

Had a really great experience with being well taken cared of by Juan Carlos and his staff. The gnocchi and the short ribs were amazing. The short ribs were not your ordinary bone in short ribs. These was a melt in your mouth experience. I recommend the short ribs and you will have a new way to make short ribs. The pear dessert was fantastic as it wasn't too sweet and full shaped. Top it off with a cup of coffee and you can not go wrong. Make sure you ask for Juan Carlos. He will give you his personal touch.

Sophisticated cafe with a scenic view of the NYBG. It's not cheap, but the food is fresh and the dishes are well cultivated. I loved the burrata appetizer and the quinoa salad! Service was fast and the waiter was calm enough to put up with my needy grandma. My only complaints are the overly salty fries and the $14 glass of wine. Truthfully, if I could, I'd give this place four and a half stars, but I'll round up to five since the overall experience was a good.

Wonderful food. My girls are foodies and they ate all the grown up food we ordered and shared as a family. I was even asked to make the black rice tower at home . Not cheap but nothing in NY is cheap and we ate pretty expensive meals. This was one of the best 3 restaurants we got around to in a week vacation of eating out twice a day. Clean bathrooms. I know it's sounds like I'm a germaphob but NY bathrooms are just disgusting! Hope as you use them, you don't get a horrible something. This place had wonderful and helpful waiters. Well dressed, well spoken. Just seemed a bit timid from the clientele or to make a mistake in a notable way. Managment should ease them a bit since you can feel their fear to mess up and the stuffiness of the place. We wore casual and it was just fine. They have the nicest outdoor seating. I highly recommend that on a Rainy day. We were FREEZING inside due to ac turned down so low on a not so hot day. Free parking in the botanic garden if you are going to the restaurant, just mention it when you go in. Easily adjusted our dishes to gluten free dairy free diet and it was delicious

I had a glass of wine with a friend so the charge was $29-30 plus I added a $5 tip. When I got home I saw they charged me $65.00! Save your receipt or, better yet, don't go there! Cheryl

Unfortunately not a good experience. Service was extremely slow even at a low time. After 10 minutes I had to find someone to at least get us water while waiting for the server. The food was mediocre at best, the squash appetizer was extremely dry, the prawns were just ok. The only really good thing were the zucchini chips. For the price point I expected much more re: service and food quality.

Nice restaurant inside NYBG. Must have a reservation. Vaccination card and ID are required. Decor is very nice. Service is excellent. We had lamb pasta, chicken breast, Spanish octopus and house burger. All are very good. Even the garnish come with the dishes are flavorful.

This is a lovely restaurant while visiting the NYBG. Food was good but they ran out of the one item I wanted. Apparently it was a very busy weekend with the Kaleidoscope show. I guess I will have to come back for my crispy fried chicken sandwich. Instead, I had the burger which was tasty. Needed a pinch of salt, as did the fries. It came with a bacon jam, which was tasty also but I didn't think the burger needed it. My friend had the couscous salad and she said it was very good. The service was great!! Our waiter was very funny and very warm and definitely the highlight of my experience. His name was Eduardo. My only bone to pick about our meal was paying nine dollars for a small serving of homemade potato chips, which were good but not exceptional and certainly not worthy of charging $9. Otherwise, it was a lovely dining experience. I would come back and hopefully the crispy fried chicken sandwich will be available.

I would think if you look at a list of the best places to eat in the Bronx, you'd see a lot of Italian, a lot of pizza, a few subs. Am I stereotyping? Well, Jamie W. and I would've gone to Louie & Ernie's for a slice if we had the time, but since we were already at the botanical gardens, why not try this restaurant? It's a nice spot with a large veranda from which they could serve people and uphold social distance restrictions. They appreciate reservations, but we were just tourists so what did we know? They were nice enough to accommodate us during a slow period. The menu was upscale brunch fare - heirloom tomatoes & burrata, lobster club, dishes you wouldn't put together at home. Am I stereotyping again? Anyway, we started with iced teas because, hey, we were on a veranda (photo: https://bit.ly/3xk3vqk). Jamie ordered the $22 Crispy Chicken Cobb Salad. It's da Bronx, y'know. Am I stereotyping? I was good (sorta) and ordered the $17 Greenhouse Power Salad which consisted of kale, spinach, dried cranberries, almonds, frisée, pomegranate seeds, and get this, Cabernet-poached beets, topped off with an Asian vinaigrette. Everything was so fresh and delicious! A fun stop while at the Bronx Botantical Garden. It's a little sleepy and closes very early, but for a lunch or early dinner, it's a great option. Additionally, the staff was very knowledgeable for gluten free options and dietary restrictions! We had the salmon and the quinotto, which was a fun new take on a risotto-like dish. The vegetables on both of the dishes were fresh and cooked perfectly. The restaurant is bright and quiet, and is probably perfect for lunch or brunch as well.

What a delightful lunch! Not only was every bite of the food heavenly, but each plate was also like a piece of art, matching the beauty and elegance of the Kusama Cosmic Nature Exhibition here in the Botanical Garden. SENAT FARM CHICKEN BREAST: A perfectly roasted chicken breast was lying on a bed of fingering potatoes, which were lined with sweet potato puree and topped by a layer of delicious sauteed kale. More sweet potato puree decorated the plate, and drizzles of honey thyme glaze added the finishing touches. The chicken was tender and moist; the Dijon chicken jus was richly flavorful. ATLANTIC SAPPHIRE SALMON: A nicely grilled salmon filet was lying on an assortment of Romanesco broccoli and cauliflower, which were accompanied by large pieces of wild mushrooms and a creamy cauliflower puree. The grilled scallion acted like a center piece that added the final touches to this piece of art. Beurre Blanc - French white butter wine sauce - which was decoratively sprinkled with fish roe was served on the side. Note that the fish is served medium rare unless otherwise requested. The place was completely full and was turning away people without a reservation even on a weekday in summer. To avoid disappointment, secure your reservation on Open Table.

Best burger ever. Newer menu kept the classics and have nice additions. Very good for quick lunch or reserved dinner.

3.5 stars, but rounding up because it's really not bad considering it is a restaurant on the premises of a park/garden. You likely need to make a reservation for this place if it's a weekend, unless you come right at opening. My boyfriend and I were lucky and came here right as they opened without a reservation and were able to get an outdoor spot. The view is really nice, we could see one of the Kusama exhibits from where we sat outdoors, and they have umbrellas to block out the sun. The food itself was fine, really not bad considering this place is inside the garden. I got the chicken Cobb salad. It had a bit too much dressing, so would request a lighter amount of dressing to probably be equivalent to a medium amount in most shops. The dish itself was super filling, and I'm glad I didn't get one of their chicken sandwich because it is massive. It might put you in a food coma. I did try my boyfriend's burger, and it tasted good - medium rare and pretty thick, so would recommend this one as well. Seems like their menu changes seasonally, but the burger is always offered. Overall would recommend if you can get a seat and are hungry in the gardens. Come early or make a reservation though.

Amateur hour. We three each ordered one dish, but because mine was a appetizer it came first. I sat there very slowly eating it, but it was a full twenty minutes before the other two "mains" came. About fifteen minutes after that the waiter came and said "I forgot to bring you [my wife] the ginger ale you ordered," My dish was Santorini prawns, which came without a dish for the shells (it appeared with the mains), and without a soup spoon for what is essentially a seafood chowder. But my biggest objection is that the texture of the prawns was abominable, as though it had been refrozen and then rethawed. Never again. I'd rather forage for food in the Botanical Garden woods before I go back to this joint.

We were happily surprised at the good lunch we had here on a Thursday afternoon! In my experience, farm-to-table restaurants, especially when they're the only restaurant available on the premises, tend to be overpriced and often good but nothing special. We treated our son and DIL to a day at the Botanical Gardens and lunch out, so we didn't want the cafe's generally pre-packaged meal. Made a reservation; we were early, they had the room and seated us right away. Everyone easily found something to choose. Son and husband had the crispy chicken sandwich. No problem at all to eliminate the bacon from one of them. Each came with a generous portion of really delicious crispy fries. The sandwich itself was tall and ample. DIL had the Senat Farms Crispy Chicken Cobb salad (I guess the chef's into frying?) and she enjoyed it. It came not like your usual Cobb, but sort-of a tower, each element separately piled on, and she just cut it and mixed it. The only thing I thought could have been better was there appeared to be plenty of dressing left at the bottom of the bowl with a few soggy lettuce leaves. I can't rave enough about my quinoa dish, though! I thought it was absolutely freezing in the restaurant so I wanted a hot meal if possible. The Harvest Vegetable Quinotto, creamy quinoa risotto with fresh vegetables, called my name. I don't know what variety of cheese made it creamy, the menu didn't mention it, just Arbequino olive oil (but I'm sure there was some cheese in there!) and I should have taken a picture. The vegetables were artistically arranged on the cheesy quinoa. I enjoyed purple and white cauliflower florets; strips of carrots and parsnips; maybe something else as well. All I can say is that the meld of flavors and textures made this dish amazing! Our server was a friendly and competent young man. He was understanding when instead of coffee/tea and dessert we asked for the check so we could see a bit more of the Gardens before the skies opened up. So if you want a beautiful ambiance (there's plenty of outdoor seating as well, but in midday we didn't think the umbrellas would provide enough shade for all 4 of us) and a thoughtfully, deliciously, prepared lunch, with pleasant service, I recommend this place.

One of the absolute worst dining experiences in our lives. The food, when you do get it, is great. However, the entire wait staff from the hostess to the waiters and support staff are absolutely atrocious. Time to get water: 10 minutes; Time to get drink order: 20 minutes. Time for food after order: 97 minutes (and they brought our appetizers after our meals). At one point the hostess started screaming at an older guest. The New York Botanical Gardens are our oasis, and this restaurant is supposed to mirror the tranquil and pristine settings of it's surroundings. It is the absolute opposite and will leave you anxious and frustrated. Short recommendation: fire everyone except the kitchen staff; hire a real restaurant manager to turn this place around without delay. P.S. On our departure, in speaking with many guests still there, they were as frustrated and disappointed. It is for this reason we decided to write a review: they should be better.

Came here for an early dinner, last seating of the day. My friend and I shared a local ricotta appetizer. Then we both had the salmon, which was perfectly done (not overdone) along with oyster mushrooms and cauliflower puree. We also shared a bottle of wine that wasn't too expensive. Everything was delicious. The food is meticulously prepared. The service was attentive. No wonder it's hard to get a reservation.

What a gem right in NY Botanical gardens The food was terrific the service was excellent A really nice way to finish the day at the Gardens. The Butternut squash soup was delicious. The whipped Ricotta appetizer was fantastic and The burgers were great. Also very nice craft cocktails.

Delicious food, excellent service, lovely relaxing ambiance and some gluten free offerings as well = heavenly lunch experience!

Had a great meal here on Labor Day while enjoying the garden and the Kusama exhibit. The gazpacho was so elegant and a unique blend of sweet and herbaceous and paired well with the sparkling wine. Service was fun, attentive and friendly. The burger was super juicy and delightful. The onion jam was a wonderful surprise.

Food and service is subpar. Location is pretty. The whipped ricotta appetizer was solid. The chicken sandwich and chicken Cobb were just bad. Soggy. Overdressed. Missing ingredients. Iced tea doesn't get refills. Bill was tossed on the table Food was mostly uneaten. No one asked how the meal was or why it was uneaten $73 without tip

At least 15 tables were available but the hostess insisted she had none. This was because my person of color friend was the one who ran up earlier to ask them. She also said they were closing in an hour. We found out after that it was actually two hours. Clearly even if they were booked out, many of the reservations were not showing up and she could have easily accommodated us. She just didn't want to because of who asked. Racist, classist establishment (or at least that particular hostess was - this was at 1 pm on Friday, April 7th).

Hudson Burger- The burger was absolutely amazing. It was cooked to the correct temperature that I asked for (medium rare). The flavor was on point! It had pieces of applewood smoked bacon in the some type of onion jam. I've never even heard of that but it was divine, I devoured that burger. Highly recommend.

Excellent sandwiches, salads and burgers after a king stroll through the Kusama exhibit at NYBG. Great venue and the food was tasty (and we were VERY hungry)! Open kitchen concept was a nice touch.

Made reservations after a day of touring the grounds. Ordered the burrata and ricotta to start. Both beautifully plated and delicious. My boyfriend had the chicken sandwich and I had the crab cake. His sandwich was so good crispy and well seasoned ... the crab cakes were delicious also. Crispy around the edges and the pickled veggies gave it a nice crunch. The place is beautiful inside. We sat outdoors in front which was also great.

Huge....HUGE portions. Delicious burger and something called bacon and caramelized onion spread. Pretty great hosts and interesting decor considering that it is in the middle of a garden. It was cold and wet outside today so this is just what the doctor ordered.

Lamb pasta - wasn't as spectacular as I expected. The service was average. Interior was gorgeous and soothing. The lemonade was refreshing. The food overall was average in comparison of the not so regular prices.

One of the two dining options within NYBG which is a restaurant, while the other is a nice cafe. I made a reservation online ahead of time as it was the weekend and was afraid there would be a wait by the time my friends and I would want to get food. Upon arrival, one could see that there was both indoor and outdoor seating available. We choose to do outdoor seating as it was not too cold outside and the surrounding was quite quaint. Based on my cousin's recommendation who had dined here, I ordered the burger and my also followed along so we all got a burger and fries. The food arrived not too long afterwards and we all thought that the burger was very delicious as well a big. Overall, the portion was big and we were not able to finish everything, but tried our best. The Hudson Garden Grill is definitely an option to considered without leaving the garden as the food is delicious, however it can be a bit expensive.

I didn't know what to expect from a restaurant inside the garden (I generally don't eat in these types of places), but this was a pleasant surprise. We got the iced tea (unsweetened) and lemonade to drink - I really enjoyed it because the flavors were more mild but still flavorful, but girlfriend thought the lemonade should be much more tart. I got the garden burger, which I didn't realize until after I got it that it was a VEGGIE burger (stupid me....). With that said, we thought it was the best veggie burger we've had - nicely seasoned although it did take some getting used to the veggie chunks in the burger (carrots, edamame, etc.). Came with a side salad, that was nicely dressed (I generally hate dressing, but this was mild enough that I enjoyed it - some sort of balsamic vinagrette?). Girlfriend got the chicken breast, which was juicy with crispy skins. The accompaniments like the sweet potato puree worked well with the dish. I think I might give this a 4 generally, but given the location and my lower standards, raising it to a 5.

I always love coming here when I go to the gardens, a lunch reservation is perfect before walking the grounds and exhibits. Highly recommend the burgers/sandwiches, and they have seasonal menu items as well. Always enjoyable, good service and lovely atmosphere.

Light. Airy. High ceiling. Arched doorways and windows. Great food, good service, nice looking table ware (not utensil tho) and not to mention it rained while we dined - good timing for us. The lightness reminds me of Coco Bistro which we just went last night but this is far better: high ceiling and better food. The open kitchen by the entrance is a great feature. Wish the bread could either be lighter or warm. We've three appetizers - the portions are pretty big. The five pieces of avocado are great but more than we could stomach - this is without a main course. Many patrons chew on burgers - they must be good, will try next time. The Spanish Conde Rosé is delicious.
