Simple, all-day cafe with a menu emphasizing health-focused Californian fare, plus a full bar.
"Hugo’s in Weho has been serving “whole food” meals long before it was trendy—we’re talking since the ‘70s. It’s managed to avoid all the nauseating pretension that comes with having a health bent by serving unfussy dishes like pan-seared salmon bathed in a white wine sauce, turkey meatloaf, and veggie patty casseroles with a cap of melted mozzarella on top. It’s conveniently open daily from 8am through dinner, so head to Hugo’s if you need a light breakfast, lunch, or dinner in Weho. Also, if you are of the gluten-free variety, this is your El Dorado." - sylvio martins, brant cox
"We love Hugo’s because it’s basically a diner, but one that also happens to serve really delicious vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Open since 1975, this neighborhood staple can get a little crowded on the weekends, but the atmosphere will always be more laid-back than the mimosa warzones happening elsewhere on the block. Whether you’re in the mood for chilaquiles, avocado toast, or steel-cut oatmeal, everything at Hugo’s is somewhat healthy, but will also fill you up and leave you happy until dinner." - brant cox, sylvio martins
"Hugo’s in Weho has been serving “whole food” meals since the ‘70s and has managed to avoid all the nauseating pretension that comes with having a health bent. They serve unfussy dishes like chicken tacos in spinach tortillas, turkey meatloaf, and gluten-free macaroni and cheese from 7:30am through dinner. So head to Hugo’s if you need a light meal in Weho or if you're avoiding wheat or dairy." - sylvio martins, brant cox
"This all-day spot in West Hollywood has a solid menu of sandwiches, pastas, and salads. But the reason we’re writing about them right now is because they’re offering free meals for kids 12 and under while LA public schools remain closed. That means you can get your shepherd’s pie and turkey burger, and your kids can get (free) chicken nuggets and mac & cheese. They’re open for delivery or pick-up." - brett keating
"Hugo’s is a West Hollywood mainstay, and one of the original healthy restaurants in LA - they’ve been around since the ’70s. But despite whatever nightmarish vision a “healthy cafe in Weho” conjures in your mind, Hugo’s is surprisingly unpretentious and easy to get in and out of for a weekday lunch. There’s no scene or gross in-crowd, just your everyday neighborhood spot (frequented by actual locals) that also happens to serve healthy food." - jess basser sanders, brant cox
