"Humble Pie is a recent addition located on the neighborhood's boundary off Rainier Avenue to the East. Sustainability, local beers on tap, and artisanal wood-fired pizza at its best. We love the makeshift structures of repurposed shipping containers and the chicken coop." - Shore
"Humble Pie is the epitome of the Pacific Northwest. It’s catty-corner to a chicken coop, the plates are compostable, many ingredients are organically grown on-site, and the patio is loaded with picnic tables under string lights. You’ll have dinner and cans of hard cider while listening to the ambient clucking of the hen whose egg is on your arugula pie, but it totally works. Plus, the pizza, with a yeasty chew and charcoal-dusted crust, is excellent. Get the margherita with fresh mozzarella if you’re feeling classic, and the Whole Hog (with prosciutto, bacon, and pulled pork) if your overall mood is “salads are for tomorrow.”" - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente
"Humble Pie is where to partake in the joyful activity of eating pizza after completing some outdoor physical activity. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they have great picnic table seating, or maybe it’s related to the chicken coop that’s in the yard. Keep that vitamin D absorption up and grab a picnic table as well as some pies involving toppings ranging from four types of pork products to apple and Beecher’s cheese. The whole experience is just like your hike, only instead of serene babbling brooks and leaves swaying in the wind, you’ll hear a lot of rustling napkins and ambient clucking." - aimee rizzo, gabe guarente, kayla sager riley
"There’s no such thing as “Seattle-style” pizza, but if there were, it would be Humble Pie in the CID. That’s because the whole space is on a little gravel patch complete with an urban garden and a chicken coop, and the wood-fired pizzas all contain local or homemade ingredients—you’ll probably hear the clucking hen whose egg was cracked onto your arugula pie. Grab a patio picnic table, can of beer, order the Whole Hog (topped with pulled pork, prosciutto, and bacon), and contemplate buying a Patagonia half-zip." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"If REI opened a pizzeria, it would be Humble Pie. The plates are compostable, the ingredients are local, and there’s a chicken coop on the patio full of eggs that’ll eventually make their way onto a pie with arugula and mushrooms. Show up for a late lunch of margherita slices and cider tallboys after hiking in head-to-toe Eddie Bauer gear." - aimee rizzo, carlo mantuano, kayla sager riley
