It was my first time visiting this place and I was absolutely blown away from the moment I walk in and sat down. The atmosphere was as absolute welcoming, the customer service experience was definitely 💯, the food was insanely delicious and amazing. All together everything was perfect and I definitely recommend this place to anyone. 9.5/10

The food here is so fresh and flavorful. The lunch special was substantial—butternut squash soup was delicious, and the eggplant sandwich was large and packed with flavor in every bite. The pita bread was warm and soft. And the staff were very accommodating!

Rumored to be the best hummus and falafel in New York, we had to check it out. We are convinced of the truth of this assertion.

Great food! The best hummus I’ve ever had, and very vegan friendly. I like to get the falafel platter with assorted meze (see photo). Great for two to share. Been going to this place for years and every time it’s fantastic!

If you're craving for hummus, this is the place to go. It's one of the best I've ever had. The falafel was also delicious with a lot sauce. I'm not usually a fan of it, but this one made we want to have more. It was a great find for us since just found it off Google Maps as we were looking for a place for Hummus. We're so happy to have found the Hummus Place. One of the highlight or our trip. Thanks to the staff for the friendly service!

This place was a random pick for dinner and was disappointed when there was no meat on the menu. Surprisingly all the dishes were delicious and we just ordered more and more. Tried Eggplant shakshuka for the first time and it was good and it is similar to Indian eggplant curry with eggs. Even though their fresh juice seems pricey, it’s totally worth trying.

Basic but serviceable atmosphere. Staff is friendly and efficient. I got the hummus platter. In description it sounds more modest than it is. It was huge. It's about an hour after eating and I'm still super stuffed. And I didn't even finish it. Anyway, if you want your hummus fix head here

we came here to eat lunch on a Sunday afternoon they had a spots available and were very fast to let us order. We ordered eggplant sandwich, and from the brunch menu we ordered the egg Florentine. the brunch menu options and included hummus pita orange juice, coffee, or tea salad and house fries. The food was excellent and very fairly priced.

We love Hummus Place! Super solid option for take out or delivery. Great Hummus, great falafels, I also loved the cauliflower appetizer we tried and the mint lemonade. Service is always very warm and attentive without being overbearing. Seating for 2 is usually manageable but the place is small so for larger parties I recommend take out and bring into the park for a picnic

I've been coming here for years, and has been consistently good and maybe has even gotten better-- given the fact that everyone else in the neighborhood has substantially raised their prices. There are a variety of soups on the menu, and the carrots with ginger is particularly good. The soup is essentially free at lunchtime if you order an entrée, so you're getting soup, entree and a pita for under $20. And it's all fresh and tasty! Unbelievable in this neighborhood.

I came here on NYE for lunch. A tucked away spot with great hummus and fresh food. Service was steady and adequate, ambiance is more casual, wouldn't be uncommon to see solo diners. I came with my husband and we shared the hummus app and I ordered the falafel. Really solid food all around, no complaints. Note: the entire menu is vegetarian which was surprising but not an issue for me. Would definitely come back again.

Wow! The food was amazing. We came for brunch during the weekend and ordered their brunch special - a lox Benedict and a shukshuka. To be honest those were alright albeit salted but the HUMMUS and PITA was amazing! The pita was pillow soft and the hummus was the best I've ever had. They also had this fresh orange that came with the meal set that was the chefs kiss. Would recommend skipping the other items and going straight for their name sake hummus.

Love the Hummus Place! It's a delicious, affordable, vegetarian Israeli place in a cozy underground space on the UWS. When I want cozy Mediterranean food with no frills, I know Hummus Place is a solid option. My friend and I split the eggplant shakshuka and the falafel platter, and it was excellent. I've never had eggplant in my shakshuka and I'm so glad I got to try it here. The eggplant slices were large but soft and absorbed the flavors and spices of the tomato sauce wonderfully. My friend and I were waffling between a few falafel options, but I'm so glad we decided on the platter! It comes with a bunch of different sides, salads, and veggies, and I appreciated the diversity. The falafel was fresh and crunchy on the outside while being bright green and steamy on the inside. It was fun to assemble our own pita sandwiches with the hummus, smashed falafel, health salad, cabbage, and even some shakshuka on top. So simple and delicious! Also, between my friend and I, we only spent $20 per person which is great for NYC!

Really good weekend brunch spot! The food was fantastic and beyond reasonably priced and the service was quick! The brunch menu came with multiple sides and drinks and it was honestly too much for me to finish but so tasty. We came on a hot Sunday morning and the AC was a welcome respite from the heat.

Came here for brunch on a Saturday a bit after they opened. The inside seemed to be full when I went to the bathroom but my sisters and I opted to sit outside in the little outdoor structure. It was extremely cute outside. It felt like we were sitting in a small greenhouse because of the wooden structure, the white doors with windows, the plants lining the side, and the flowers on the table. The service throughout was quick and friendly. We never had to wait long for anything like ordering, bill, etc. We were even given the option to refill our coffee which is free. We decided to get the traditional tomato shakshuka, the brunch option of aubergine eggs which comes with orange juice, coffee, salad, humus, and potatoes, and we got the labane cheese which comes with pita. The orange juice was freshly squeezed and my sister was satisfied with the coffee. The shakshuka was my absolute favorite. It was so savory. The eggs were cooked perfectly. 0 complaints it's a must get. The aubergine eggs were pretty good. They were served almost Benedict style. The potatoes and salad were good to eat when dipped in the hummus or shakshuka. The hummus was bomb! The labane cheese was creamy and savory. It was delightful with the soft and warm pita. It was great to mix different ingredients together to eat with the different spreads. I would mix hummus and labane, labane and shakshuka, etc. Flavor explosions!! Prices were reasonable for the location. Would 100% come again. I immediately shared with my friends who love Mediterranean food. They were extremely jealous.

First, the good. The food here is legit: Falafel platter (8.5/10): salads were fresh, cabbage was acidic, complementing the heavy hummus/falafel well. Hummus was good, not great, needed lemon juice/spices and id prefer it to be served a bit more chilled. Falafel was very good. A tad too mushy inside (falafel insides should be a perfect hybrid between mushy and crumbly imo), but outside was crispy, flavor was great. Over all, you'd be hard pressed to find falafel that match this in the area. The falafel here is better and cheaper then Miriam across the street.... That being said, the place was a bit dirty. Napkins all over the floor, tables need to be wiped down asap. Nothing gross, but just past the point where I felt the need to comment :) the service was also fine, nothing excellent, but who needs it when falafel is that good. Over all, legit af middle eastern in UWS.

their brunch platters are amazing -- generous portions for just $25 per person. the place is small in a partially underground space. came in on sunday at opening time and there was plenty of tables and fast service. got the shakshuka with eggplant and spinach and it was divine. excellent hummus as well.

They still have the best hummus on the UWS and the roasted cauliflower is amazing as well but skip the Brussels sprouts because they're mushy.

I didn't realize this was a vegetarian spot until we sat down and got comfortable ... but then I was all in! The falafels were crisp on outside and soft and fluffy on the inside - and the flavor profile was spot on. The hummus was creamy and flavorful. The za'atar seasoning on the pita was perfect to dip in the smoky babaganoush. Also got the red sangria - taste was great but could have had more of the drink and less ice! Service was attentive and friendly. Good spot to get a quick lunch!

This place is the best! Cute and casual atmosphere - great spot for lunch with a friend. They have a variety of Mediterranean dishes, and delicious hummus is served with most things. Definitely recommend the Mediterranean omelette for brunch. Love the falafel, too. Service is great - nice staff, and food always comes out relatively quickly.

This place was phenomenal!! It's a small little store but the food was truly amazing. We got the Mushroom Hummus, Pita, Falafel Sandwich and Shakshuka with Mozzarella Cheese. This was a LOT of food for 2 people as most of the entrees come with sides/drinks so we had plenty of leftovers to take home. The hummus was unique and the flavors really came through. The falafel sandwich was also great and the fries were thin/crispy which we loved. The shakshuka had large slices of eggplant and was cooked so well. The cheese add on is a must! Overall, one of the best hummuses I've ever had and I'll definitely be back.

I came here with two friends and we all shared the hummus sampler, falafel platter, and shakshuka, and we each paid $25 after tip. It was a lot of food! We ended up mainly eating the different types of hummus with pita and the shakshuka. The hummus here had a very interesting taste. It wasn't quite as tangy(?) or hummusy as I would've expected. It was very mid hummus for a restaurant called Hummus Place. The shakshuka was pretty good and so was the falafel. Overall, the food was good but not spectacular. The restaurant was cute and the servers were nice as well. Not sure I'll be coming back anytime soon, but it was good.

I ordered a regular hummus bowl with veggies to dip for a long car ride. My parents also ordered hard-boiled eggs to go with it. The hummus was great although it definitely could have used a little bit more spice. It was also filling and did well in the car. I should have ordered falafel and eggplant to go with it but now I know what I'll do next time. I'll also think about ordering the Shakshuka again because that was pretty good. I look forward to my future visits.

Please come to Houston. I miss this place year round til I visit New York once a year. Everything is soooo good. Soup, brocolli, hummus, other vegetables, meat. 10/10!! I wish I didn't have to go to NY to have such amazing mediterranean food!!

Staff was not friendly, not even a hello, but hey who knows what's going on in their lives. Hummus was really good Pita was good Israeli salad was not fresh Beets were not great Food quality has gone down in years, will not return and I have been eating here for 10+ years.

My boyfriend and I on a Saturday afternoon scored an outdoor table right away - a jackpot for any city dweller. Even though our waitress wasn't an example of great service, literally handed us napkins and spray to clean the table as we got seated, we didn't let it ruin our experience. Surrounded by friendly folks, the sun took the spotlight, officially marking its territory as brunch heaven. I opted for the Mallawach dish that won me over at $20 - an edible treasure trove. My boyfriend went for the Shakshuka thrill at $18 - eggs and spice galore. Each bite was full of flavor. Healthy and affordable - Free OJ and tea with your entree, what a bonus! NYC's secret culinary gem. Quick as a New York minute, The Hummus Place is a NYC must!

I came in Saturday opening time at around 11:30. It was an underground type area that was fairly small, but it was not overly crowded. The brunch on the weekends is the best. I ordered the aubergine eggs at $20 and it was amazing - it comes with home fries, salad, hummus, as well as juice/coffee. My friends ordered the shakshuka and the mallawach and they also enjoyed their meals. Although there was only one waiter when we were there in the morning, he was attentive and refilled our coffee/waters and cleared our table as we finished eating. Overall the service was great and the food is a great value as you get to sample many small plates.

The food is very good , the place is always busy I only order for pickup since the seating area is kind of small .

Delicious! This is one of our favorite places to eat in NYC. We love ordering the different vegetable dishes and eating it with the soft chewy pita (after slathering the yummy spicy green sauce all over it). The dishes are simple but sooo good. Hummus is very tasty, with lots of great toppings. Highly recommend!

Good vegetarian Mediterranean food. Generous portions. The falafel with hummus was excellent. We went got the couscous with vegetables and it was good, the roasted onions and almond provided good layers of texture. Service was good, order taken just as we had decided. Place is a bit cramped, down a few stairs, but very clean.

Wow. This place has some of the best falafel and shakshuka I've had! I highly suggest going for brunch on a weekend as they have some options that come with a combination of several things. We got one of their brunch shakshukas (2 eggs in a tomato sauce) as well as a side order of babaganoush (eggplant dip) and falafel (fried chickpea balls). The main dish came with sides of salad, hummus, pita, roasted potatoes, orange juice, and your choice of coffee or tea. It is a great value for what you get. The hummus is excellent - so smooth and lightly seasoned so you can enjoy the freshness of the ingredients. Paired with pillowy-soft pita, it's an excellent side. The salad is good - nothing too special about it. Roasted potatoes are good - nothing special about this either. Shakshuka is amazing. The eggs are served over easy, and a generous amount of piping hot and chunky tomato sauce are spread all around. I highly suggest cutting the eggs to let the egg yolk mix with the tomato sauce and cook a little with it. This dish doesn't have too many spices as you are really supposed to enjoy the simple flavors of the eggs and tomatoes. The falafel was excellent. Some of the best falafel I have had. So soft and moist on the inside and excellent flavors, including the little sauces they put on the plate itself. The babaganoush was good. Nothing to mind blowing from other ones I've tried around the city. Personally I don't think the quality of this that you get is worth the nine dollars that you pay. In the end, this was an excellent restaurant to enjoy some really good food. I definitely recommended if you are in the area!

Delicious and creamy hummus, quite close to the one we had in Israel and one of the best in the city. The spinach shashuka was yummy, too. Pita bread was also great. We came back today after 5 years! Loved the meal. The Turkish coffee had a super lovely cardamon taste that was so aromatic. Liked the zatar pizza too had lots of nice flavors.

I know it's called the Hummus Place, but order the grilled eggplant and you wont regret it! Whole wheat pita and hummus very good, but the eggplant is CHOICE. Always nice servers, and this place has survived many years, well deserved. The carrot ginger seasonal soup is good, and the shaksuka is delicious (comes out HOT, so order it if you have time for it too cool down enough to eat.

We have been going to this small restaurant every time we come to NY for many years and truly never been disappointed. We often stay at the Lucerne, and it's walking distance for lunch or dinner.Yes, the hummus is amazing, but so is the falafel, the wine, and all the vegetarian offerings. It's the first place my daughter wanted to come off the plane from Atlanta when she was pregnant. That should tell you something!

This meal was upsetting. Tried to enjoy what I could when they have a MOSQUITO INFESTATION inside the restaurant. I got bit all over my face and my arm. Worst place to have dinner ever. I am still itching the next day and this is not cool. Why have diners realize there's an infestation after they have sat down. It's uncomfortable to constantly swat mosquitoes away from food and from yourself. It's a ridiculous way to have dinner. Close the restaurant and get rid of the infestation instead of staying open and staying greedy. A lot of the items were missing flavor and I was in search for some more flavor. I will never return. NOT COOL.

Small vegetarian restaurant with delicious Israeli food! I shared the hummus platter and got a falafel sandwich for myself. I definitely recommend splitting the hummus platter with a few people since its a lot of hummus for just 2. My favorite flavors were the tahini and mushroom. The falafel sandwich was super tasty and the fries on the side were very crispy. I also really liked their house hot sauce, which was a green herbs paste. For dessert, I got the vanilla rose flan which was plated nicely but unfortunately tasted a bit too artificially flavored. Overall a great spot if you're looking for a quick and filling meal in UWS!

Amazing service and food. The falafel was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. The hummus was also fantastic! I had the falafel plate and baklava dessert Next, I am going to try the rosé flavored flan. On my second visit I had the Shakshuka lunch special with a side of hummus and whole wheat pita bread. For dessert I had the Malabi which was good.

I had the falafel, hummus, lentil soup, pita, and fries here. All the food is great! It's usually not too busy around lunch time, and the service was great. It's a little on the pricier side for the quantity, but the quality is good.

I don't think I can ever eat store-bought hummus again without thinking of how much better the hummus is here. I visit NYC 3-4x a year, used to live there, so I have dined in restaurants as a resident and as a visitor. This is the only restaurant I've eaten at twice in one visit. Before I visited, I thought, "A hummus restaurant? What else they got?" I wasn't thinking that when I left, with a smile on my face. It's not much more than a hole in the wall, a few steps down from the sidewalk. Mainly locals are there, so don't act like a tourist, OK?

Great food. Excellent hummus and sides. Laid back atmosphere. Pleasant service. I really miss the other locations.

My husband is Israeli so expectation was high but honestly I expected much more of this place. The pita didn't taste homemade or fresh. The hummus and babaganoush was ok. The one thing we liked was the falafel. It's more of a quick bite if hungry type of place.

Such a gem in the upper west side. We were hungry after spending the morning in Natural History Museum and decided to look for a place nearby. It's a small and cozy restaurant with wonderful outdoor seating! We got the eggplant shakshuka and a brunch option. They were quite generous with the portions and it was delicious! I really enjoyed the shakshuka and the Turkish tea. It's very popular, so the staff be get quite busy and service can be on the slower side; be sure to have some amount of time to eat. Alternatively, you could do takeout. Wonderful experience, would come again!

I have not been to Hummus Place since before the Covid Pandemic, but on a recent trip to the UWS I decided it was time to return for a meal! For the most part, the restaurant is the same as I remember it. Some of the wall decorations are different, and there are now plastic barriers between the tables and booths, but the feel of the place is the same. They also have outdoor seating now, increasing their total number of available seats. My girlfriend and I ordered our "classic" line up of dishes including the mushroom hummus, shakshuka and falafel. All of these dishes are still every bit as good as I remembered. The mushroom hummus is wonderfully savory. The shakshuka is savory and tangy and the falafel is fresh and crisp. It was both a pleasure and relief to see the quality of the food has remained the same. Now let's talk about the service. The day we visited, there had an unfortunate staff shortage. I don't know if someone got sick or if they needed to hire someone (I didn't see a "Help Wanted" sign outside) but they only had two waitstaff on hand to cover all the tables inside and outside so they were hustling the entire time. All that said? If they had not told us we would not have noticed. The service was excellent and I thought the staff was very attentive. That said, after they told us I realized just how MUCH the two waiters were running around and I made sure to leave a nice tip to show them my appreciation. Hummus Place is one of the best places around for this kind of food and I highly recommend it!

I loveeee myself a good Mediterranean dish with hummus and falafel and this place hit it right on the spot! We got a bunch of different things including a shakshuka, falafel platter and mushroom hummus and everything was so delicious!!! I'm craving it right now as I write this review :) I'm sad I didn't get to take a picture - probably happened because I was too excited to eat I'll definitely be back for more.

I came to Hummus Place for brunch on a Sunday at noon without a reservation (not super sure if they even take reservations in the first place but might be worth looking into if you want to get a table at a specific time and not have to wait). This is a small restaurant and it was raining so we had to wait around 15-20 min for a table to clear up. Once we were seated, our waiter came by to take our food and drink orders. I was with a group of 4 so we decided to split a few dishes. My parents each ordered a lentil soup and split a mushroom hummus. My friend and I shared a falafel hummus, and then I got the butternut squash soup and she ordered the tabouli salad. In addition, her and I both ordered apple and ginger juice. The juices came out first and they were super good. They were freshly made and had no added sugar which was nice. We then got our soups for the table. My parents really enjoyed the lentil soup, saying it felt very hearty, filling, and healthy. I have always been a giant fan of their butternut squash soup since its very comforting and has amazing flavors of butternut squash with a hint of cinnamon. My friend really enjoyed her tabouli salad which came out a bit later, she said it was very refreshing and lemony. The hummus came out soon after with 4 fluffy pieces of regular pita. The pita here is truly to DIE for! So fresh and warm and fluffy, one of the best pitas I have had in NYC. The hummus also has a wonderful creamy consistency that has just the right amount of tahini and spices. I usually get the mushroom hummus which I love now that the mushrooms are super tasty but this time I opted to try the falafel one and I do not regret it at all! The falafel here is very crispy on the outside yet tender and not dry at all on the inside. Hands down some of the best falafel I have had. Prices are pretty fair too. This is a cute casual place to come for a quick mediterranean food/hummus fix. Can't wait to come back again and try one of their brunch specials (generous portions with sides of hummus, salad, and fries!)

OMG! We had a deeeelicious meal here. The pita bread was the star--hot and soft and chewy, the hummus and falafel platters made us feel like we were back in Middle East and the space is cozy. Can't wait to go back!

This place was a solid little restaurant. We would definitely pass on the Brussels sprout appetizer as it was steamed a bit too much and just tasted like the olives it cooked in. But the falafel sandwich in a pita was very tasty, with fresh veggies and fries. The hummus and falafel plate was also nice. Their hummus was smooth and flavorful (which I suppose it should be as the restaurant is named "The Hummus Place." Their homemade lemonade comes with a sprig of lemonade and is delicious! Not too sweet or tart. We will order a carafe next time!

Vegetarian's dream come true the Shakshuka is amazing everything is delicious. Trust me you will love it don't forget to ask for extra hot sauce. It comes on the side you'll love it. Trust me.

I was so impressed by this restaurant! It's pretty small and unassuming from the outside, but the food and value here is really great. I ordered the shakshuka brunch platter and it came with so much food. Each platter comes with salad, potatoes, hummus, pita (your choice of white or whole wheat), orange juice, and tea or coffee, all for $20. The shakshuka came steaming hot and was so hearty and delicious, definitely the best I've ever had. The hummus was also really delicious, super rich and creamy with a nice mild flavor. We will definitely be back anytime we're in the upper west side!
