"Humpy's Hawaiian Location Originally an Alaskan favorite, Humpy's has a satellite location on the Big Island in Kona. The open-air restaurant serves up the same great food with a speciality of seafood. The fish tacos will wow tastebuds, as will most of the menu. Humpy's serves a full menu of beers, many sourced from local breweries. If beer isn't your thing, the cocktails are quite delish. Humpy's location in Kona is right across the street from the beach and the perfect place to relax and watch the sun go down."

Humuhumunukunukuapua’a Review - Wailea - Maui - The Infatuation

"Named after Hawaii’s state fish, this open-air restaurant is right on the water at the Grand Wailea Resort. Expect at least two surprise marriage proposals per meal and some of the best sunset views on the island under the Polynesian-style thatched roofs. Like most resort restaurants, it’s pricey, but the food and the atmosphere at Humuhumu make it worthwhile. The menu is made up of upscale takes on traditional Hawaiian dishes, like the glazed octopus - a twist on classic luau food - and a Kona lobster ramen that’s probably the fanciest bowl of noodles on the island." - Leah Ponichtera

Had a really nice lunch on the deck. Waitress was pleasant and answered questions without any issue. Drinks were great and watching the birds and the waves was so nice. Previously was Humpy's but now is Laverne's bid island alehouse but had the same great menu as 10 years ago! Waitress said the head chef is the same and it shows, great time!

We visit Kona sometimes twice a year and we have a favorite oceanside eatery but this trip we tried a new place and were very pleased. There are several restaurants along the waterfront in Kona and we chose to have dinner at Humpy's (now Laverne's) Big Island Ale House. They have a downstairs seating area but we elected upstairs (there's in and outside). We were seated quickly and the server was friendly (there's validated parking at Coconut Grove Marketplace- make sure you give your license plate to the staff). We sat right along the rail and looked out over Kailua Harbor. And started with delicious cocktails - I chose the Blue Hawaii and my wife their Pina Colada. Both were tasty and refreshing (my wife loved the drink so much we came back another night). It was a late night meal so we wanted something lighter - I chose the Blue Cheese Wedge Salad and my wife ordered the Hummus Plate. It wasn't long before our plates came out (but long enough to believe they were freshly prepared). The salad was tasty and had plenty of variety in the ingredients. My wife also really enjoyed the Hummus plate with pita wedges, hummus and vegetables. As I mentioned we came another night and I enjoyed the Kalua Pork Sliders (with Likikoi Cole Slaw) while my wife really enjoyed their Aloha Spinach Salad (with goat cheese, avocado, caramelized bacon, and Pineapple chunks). The service was prompt, food was delicious, and prices reasonable compared to Kona prices. We'll be back

Google
Great sports bar! Went here for lunch with our family on vacation. The service was not the best as they only had two waiters working the floor, and one had the entire bar area as well. We had to call for their attention and order all at once or risk being delayed in service. The food came out was VERY GOOD! We purchased the steak sub and Kailua pork sub, both were superb!!! They are pretty large, so you can share them if you want too. No sides given, or needed. The bar drink options were good, we sampled some different beers. The atmosphere was great as it’s above ground, so you can sit near the edge and see the ocean and feel its breeze, it’s very nice. Plenty of TVs, good amount of seating. Check it out!

Google
Late on a Sunday and short on time to get to the airport, the staff was very accommodating! They have an upstairs and downstairs dining area overlooking Alii Drive with a great view of the ocean. I'm sure it's amazing for the famous Kona sunsets! The lilikoi drinks are good, it's very spacious and comfortable.

Google
Enjoyed a nice lunch here, just chose a bad time to visit (between 10:45a and 11:30a), as apparently it’s between breakfast and lunch and the menu is more limited. That being said, what we ordered was really good. The kahlua pork sub and the steak bomb sub were delicious. The service was top-notch and the view is hard to beat. I’m looking forward to getting there in time for breakfast one day.

Google
I ordered the fish sandwich, blackened, with a side salad. I was told the fish was fresh caught which is good. But the blackening was sparse and the fish itself was a bit dry and dense. The fries were good and crispy. The side salad and house made dressing were okay. The coffee was standard fare, not bad, not great. The best thing about this restaurant is the view and location. The ocean breeze is phenomenal.

Google
Looking for a place to eat, we came upon this place. I have to say it was absolutely amazing. First, there was seating where it looked right out into the ocean. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the 10-oz New york strip seasoned to perfection. My husband had the vegetarian lasagna, which he loved. Our friends had the grilled chicken sandwich and was not disappointed. This is a place that you must not pass up if you are in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Google
Plenty of parking, we were seated right away and the food was fair priced. Our group ordered appetizers before our flight. The food came out quickly and we had a gorgeous view of the ocean while we ate!

Yelp
Dinner after an awesome Manta Ray adventure. Monday night. It was a slow night. Sat upstairs at the bar. It took a few minutes but finally had the bartender come over to take a drink order. It's Hawaii and we were not in a hurry. Fried pickle appetizer - excellent. I had the fish sandwich - again, good choice. Overall - service average but friendly. Food was excellent.

Yelp
We dinned here because of the Humpy's in Anchorage. Wasn't the worse meal of the trip but wouldn't return. Paid parking lots surround the building and they validate the one behind the buildings. Waitress took our license plate but don't know if it was ever entered as we never received confirmation. No ticket on the car though. We were seated along the second floor patio so the views of the ocean and the sand volleyball court were entertaining us throughout the meal. Service was slow. Food was meh and the drinks finally arrived after the meal. The bartender stepped out and our server had to go make them herself.

Yelp
Cool spot. Breakfast with a view. Food was good and service was good. Prices you'd expect to pay in tourist area. I got the mahi bene and wife got traditional bene. Very good. Great view of the ocean. They also have upstairs lanai to sit and eat.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying this restaurant is no longer the Humpy's associated with the Anchorage one. I was looking forward to coming in and having their delicious fish tacos that I have been craving for over a year! We arrived during happy hour and got a nice table with a view. No need to go into detail about how bad the service was. Let's talk about the new menu and lack of fish tacos. We decided to order the smoked marlin dip, I was speechless when I saw the plate come out. Imagine an ice cream scoop of what looked like tuna fish with mayo on the center of a plate with canned pickled jalapeños on one side and two stacks of ritz crackers lining it on the other two sides. Maybe it was marlin, maybe it was cat food? Regardless it was terrible. I probably wouldn't have asked either way; but I never got the opportunity since our server only came back to swipe our card, not show us the actual tab and put the tip choice to %22 before we could choose. If I was the original Humpy's in Anchorage I would ask to have my sign removed from the outside of the building.

Yelp
Great food, Great service and great views! We will be back! Yummmmmmmmmy Delicious Views

Yelp
Good food, good service and free parking in Kona. What's not to like? Stopped in again for sunset and had a great server. For a "sports" bar atmosphere, they do a lovely Mahi Mahi, not overcooked. I think the biggest bonus of this place is the parking. You give the server your license plate and phone number. You get an hour and half validated with a text when your time's up. (Screw Diamond parking)

Yelp
Was sad to see the menu on the website was not the same one at the restaurant. We decided to stay as we were there and try it out anyways...sad we wasted a dinner outing here. No refills on water or ice tea, meals were plain and not appetizing.

Yelp
The appetizers were great I liked the calamari and the fried pickle was really, really good. My husband ordered the steak and said it was alright not great. I'm surprised he would order a steak in Hawaii considering we ate at some of the best steak houses in NYC. On the other hand with all the cattle ranches on the island why not have a kick as* steak. I ordered a fish dish and it was good in flavor but the portion was small. If I returned I would only eat from the appetizer menu keeping it simple and have a cold beer. But we won't be returning.

Yelp
This review is not for Happy Hour. Humpy's has happy hour and it is a great place for that. You can see whales, dolphins, etc. out the front of the bar. This review is about their sandwiches and.I assume equally good pizza. Every day at lunch they have these phenomenal sandwiches made with fresh pizza dough for the bread. We like the Italian one so much that we haven't even tried a different one. The only problem is that there is no overlap between happy hour and sandwich hour. We have been given different reasons - there's only one guy who makes them and he only works lunch, the pizza oven is too busy (doing what I don't know) during dinner, the dishes take too long to make during peak hours. Don't miss this, though. It's worth paying an extra dollar for your beer to get this sandwich.

Yelp
My food came out half cold and half hot, when mentioning it to the bartender all he said was it's his favorite meal. The service lacked, had to ask for my drink 3 separate times and then had to wait 5-10 mins before it even arrived. The restaurant was not busy only a handful of tables being used. I frequent the island for work and will not return or recommend this establishment. Only reason for 2 stars is they had the game on.
google avatar

Glenn C.

Yelp
Great location. View from up top is amazing. Food is average at best. Service was adequate but not great even for island time. Probably wouldn't go back with all the other options close by. We heard later that happy hour was decent but missed that.

Yelp
My 3 children 7 and under and I went for new years breakfast which said ended at 1045 but we walked in at 1046am and were denied any breakfast service. the lunch menus never even came out till 10 minutes later. No ALOHA at this establishment.

Yelp
Didn't have to wait for a table around 7pm. Started off with big mozzarella sticks that were good. Entree was even better. I got the kalua pork and cabbage with mac salad and rice. It was delicious I ate every bite. My mom got the shrimp and it was good as well.
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
The happy hour menu literally says $2 off all bottles and yet they verbally told us the menu was incorrect and that happy hour was $one off. Only one dollar off is not really a discount at all. Additionally I asked another waiter for confirmation about the price of the menu and he said ask your server and refused to respond. The calamari was unseasoned and bland. Do not come here... food is trash

Yelp
This restaurant caught my eye online due to the number of on tap beers they have - they have a wonderful and wide selection. We nestled into the bar and had a fantastic view right in time for sundown. The dip sounded so good, so we got that an an entree each. The fish sandwich I had was one of the best in Hawaii. It was perfectly cooked and the mac salad was out of this world. We had a great bartender who was attentive to us and kind - I always like to note that in a touristy area because tourists can be difficult! Would recommend for bar food vibe.

Yelp
Great variety like calamari and salads to more gourmet sliders and pastas. We started off with the calamari and for our main entrees, the ribeye steak and seafood pasta. Unfortunately the calamari reminded us of frozen calamari sticks. The ribeye was cooked well, came with a baked a potato, and veggies. The pasta was delicious! It had shrimp and chicken, can be overwhelming after a while since it's so heavy. Our waitress and bartender were friendly. We went during dinner and had live performance which was fun to listen to while eating. A view of the ocean is a plus!

Yelp
Solid basic breakfast with great views. I had the eggs Benedict with a virgin Bloody Mary for breakfast and was pretty satisfied with the meal and service. The eggs Benedict came with a side and I chose the potatoes. The potato's were good and had a nice seasoning to give them flavor. We sat next to the ocean view and it was fantastic. A pleasant experience over all.

Yelp
We loved this spot. It is on the main drag, so it is tourists galore (us included) and the prices are high, but they have a terrific view (both street side and upper balcony). Tons of beers on tap and they have pretty decent food. We tried their pretzels with cheese and on the surface they seemed basic, but they use their pizza dough for the pretzels and they end up so soft and airy - just wonderful for such a basic bar item. They also use the pizza dough for their sandwiches and it ends up making them a cross between a calzone and a sub sandwich. I LOVED these! I tried both the BBQ pork and the Italian sandwich and loved each! Service is OK. They never have quite enough people working, so pack your patience. Prices are tourist high, but it is Hawaii so it is expected. All in all a solid spot for beer and bites!

Yelp
We were hungry around 9pm and found Humpy's to be still open. GPS: The bizarre thing is, our gps took us to the Kona Reef hotel. We kept circling around wondering where it was. We decided to drive further down and found it. Parking: back parking lots. One charged and another gave 3 hours free. Food: 1) Teri Beef plate- very basic 2) "North Shore" garlic shrimp. DON'T order it. It wasn't crispy but mushy on the batter. Not much garlic taste either. 3) Pina Colada- just "'mid" as in not very memorable flavor

Yelp
Came for happy hour! It lasts from 3-6pm, well drinks are $5. None of their cocktails are on the happy hour menu and appetizers are $2 off making them about $11-$20 depending on what you get. Better than a lot of the regular prices you'll pay outside of happy hour and they have a nice view from their balcony. My friend got poke and I got the pork sliders which were tasty but definitely like something that came out of a premade bag, none of it seemed particularly fresh. Server was attentive and checked on us multiple times. Points for service and view - food and drinks left something to be desired.

Yelp
Had high hopes for a great lunch but quickly realized this place is a disaster. Should have looked at reviews before going. My daughter ordered the fish sandwich grilled and the fish was mushy, flavorless and was clearly not fresh and was definitely frozen then microwaved. She had 2 bites then found a bug in the lettuce and was done. They did comp us for her food, thankfully. My sister ordered the smoked marlin dip, while the dip was fine, it was served with Ritz crackers. I don't think I've ever seen Ritz crackers served at a restaurant that should be high quality seafood beach view dining. Ridiculous. Such a shame given that this place has a prime oceanfront view and so much potential but it was like something out of kitchen nightmares. I'd love to see Gordon Ramsay fix this place. I'm scared we'll be sick later from the food, in all honestly. Advice to owners and management, take a long hard look at the potential you've got with this place and start over. The only positive I have is that our server was a friendly young lady who was very apologetic about the terrible fish sandwich.

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick dinner later at night because my husband had enjoyed their fish and chips years ago. Fish and chips were just as good as he remembered them! Fresh and flaky with a good crunch to them. Great drink options - the bartender was great at coming up with a drink that had POG in it - delicious. Lively area at night. If you're looking for food, definitely call first because they stay open later than their kitchen does. That being said, this was still one of the restaurants we found that kept their kitchen open the latest. Great stop for good food and drinks whether you're in a group, as a couple, or riding solo.

Yelp
5/11/24 Parking is unexceptable, employees are very rude they need to learn about customer service been here many times. Rude employees up.and downstairs, ver unprofessional!!!

Yelp
View is better than the food, which was only just ok. Bartender must have had an off night. Ordered a virgin daiquiri for my 17 year old daughter. She took one sip and knew there was alcohol in it. We asked our server to confirm it was a virgin and the bartender admitted that it was not. Shot us a dirty look when we asked her to remake it as a virgin. Funny that both versions (alcoholic and virgin) made it onto our bill. Would not agree to comp the first drink (ahem, served to our MINOR child) in error. So I drank it myself even though I don't like daiquiris. Want just ok food, mediocre drinks with a GREAT view: give it a try. Want more on a night out with your kids: try elsewhere.

Yelp
Humpy's has always been a favorite of mine for a breakfast of Egg's Benedict and a Bloody Mary. But be aware...the prices shown on their online menu are not updated to what is charged at the restaurant. I am a fan of the food at Humpy's, the breakfast was great and the view as well as service was excellent, but if cost is a consideration in your selection then you might want to recheck prices you see on their website.

Deanne J.

Yelp
We had such high hopes. Great location, basic menu, a bar. Service was fine, not great. Menu was basic. Bathrooms were sketchy, obviously used for several busineeses/homeless, etc. Food was awful. Bug in the lettuce, not fresh fish, Ritz crackers (Really! When was the last time you were served Ritz crackers at a restaurant?!). Basically, it was an awful lunch experience. Go to Hugo's on the Rocks or Quinns' Almost by the Sea. We should have read the other reviews first.

Madi P.

Yelp
Our server was kind and sweet but the food was TERRIBLE. There were 4 of us and we got fish and chips and burgers.... It was all so greasy, low quality and gross! We got 3 drinks and it was like $180 with tip!
google avatar

Carlos S.

Yelp
I only had the calamari appetizer and it was a ok. I'm sure they have better dishes. Great location right across the shore. Good service.

Yelp
Unfortunately Humpy's is our "backup" kind of restaurant, whenever we can get into other restaurants, our friends generally suggest here as they can accommodate 6+ people. Food is alright, on the Main Street with view of the bay, and convenient for breakfast, lunch or dinner but service could be slow. It is a busy tourist spot so I understand that they're "busy", but today it took my husband 20 minutes trying to catch sever's attention. Felt like servers just avoided meeting our eyes, never asked if we need anything else, or how the food was. If you have a busy schedule planned for the day, or catch your cruise ship or have close flight departure time, be very careful.

Ellen M.

Yelp
Best kept secret in Kona: Humpy's. The name, the casual vibe, and the reasonable prices will make you think that it doesn't rate as one of the better restaurants in Kona. Guess what? It is. We've been to the better known, high price restaurants all week and we had the best meal of the week at Humpy's. It is right on the water and the views are incredible. Our server was accommodating, friendly, and very efficient. And the food was both affordable and VERY GOOD. We had a fairly large party and ordered nachos, calamari, and mozzarella sticks. For entrees we had the fresh catch, blackened, teriyaki steak, the pesto seafood pasta, the soy sauce marinated chicken, and several other things --- all VERY good. I am so impressed. We will be back.

Yelp
6/18/2023 Humpy's 75-5815 Alii Dr Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 I went there for an early dinner in search of fish and chips. I was seated promptly on the upper deck balcony with a nice view of the bay sunset. Service was fast and attentive, the waitress brought malt vinegar without my asking. The Ono batter was nicely hot and crispy. The fish was moist. The tartar sauce was okay as were the fries. One of the better F&C's I've had. I recommend and it's repeatable.

Yelp
The Kona free Trolly never arrived on time to pick us up. We walked to the next stop which was directly in front of Humpy's. We were seated at the open air balcony, right in view of the Trolly stop. It took a little bit to place our drink order. I asked the bar tender, and then she sent a server over. We ordered 2 Pina Colada's. They came fairly quickly, but they tasted like Virgin Colada's. we couldn't taste any alcohol whatsoever.. I had asked for the bill when she dropped off the drinks. I wanted to be all paid up in case the trolly happened to come early ( which was exactly what happened)? The drinks were very expensive, considering how they tasted. 12$ each plus tip = 35$ Canadian. I paid, but if we would of had more time I would of sent them back l. Very disappointed. So when the Trolly came early and we had barely drank anything, we just grabbed our drinks and off we went!

Yelp
A nice spot on Ali'i right on the waterfront. Humpy's beer selection is extensive with a good selection of Hawaiian choices. I opted for the Maui Big Swell IPA, while Patty chose the Longboard Lager. We were originally going to go to Quinn's (my tour book said Quinn's had the best fish sandwich in Kona-Kilauea), but they were on vacation. That said, we sat at the bar (downstairs). Patty got the fish sandwich, I opted for the garden burger. Patty gave her fish sandwich a so-so review. She said it didn't come close to one she enjoyed at Hana Hou Restaurant in Na'alehu that included cole slaw. I was happy to discover that the garden burger is made in-house. It was messy, but very good! The potato/mac salad was good. I was hoping for a little more Hawaiian flavor (carrots?), but I ate every bit. Patty's fries were solid. The thin-sliced Maui onions were a welcome surprise!

Yelp
We came here for breakfast, along with all of the other tourists. The views are amazing (we sat on the upper balcony). It is hard for me to be too upset about anything while enjoying views of ocean. Food prices were rather high, but drinks seemed reasonable. I had a mimosa with POG that was great. For breakfast, I had the loco moco. It was tasty. My spouse had banana mac-nut pancakes that were also pretty good. The service was adequate--our orders were correct and came out reasonably quickly. I'm not sure if it's the "best breakfast" as advertised, but we were happy with it.

Yelp
The views from this location really sell! But, the food is good- not great. The Oni fish and chips weren't the best I've had, but I did like the ratio of fish to batter as well as the tartar sauce had great flavor! Right upon order we were told that the restaurant was out of pizzas and subs, which takes a huge chunk out of their island favorites menu.

Yelp
We were in Kona to go to Walmart and decided on breakfast by the ocean. This was the first place we came to and while the food was just average its such a fun funky place that makes up for it. Their breakfast menu isn't huge but think there is something for everyone. I opted for bacon and eggs with a side of fruit instead of potatoes. Was disappointed that it was the typical melon and pineapple. I had hoped maybe to have a little papaya or guava mixed in. There was no jam on the table for toast and I could never get the server's attention to ask for some. My hubs had a Benedict which he said was good but they say their sauce is the best on the island and he said no. Would like to go back and try lunch, am thinking their fish tacos would be pretty darn good. The view is wonderful, with the ocean just across the street and that alone makes up for pretty much everything else.

Yelp
Been trying to call this place for the past 2 days to make a reservation with no luck phone always going to voicemail (does not even ring) on their website it makes it look like you can make reservation on open table but you can't they are not on the open table network... why would you list a phone number if you never pickup or it's always going to voicemail? Also website needs to be updated to remove open table option to book because they are not on that network.

Yelp
"Gimme some birds" says Wayne Newton in Vegas Vacation. Theres a sign posted to not feed the birds, but too late. They already learned and get close like really smart people fed them by hand in the past. Other than that, the setting is open air and pleasant with so e 90's country playing. Early breakfast on a Monday is August. Sat right down. Service is friendly and about normal here. Food came pretty quick. Bambucha burrito is a normal breakfast burrito served with very mild salsa, sour cream, and something like guac. Pretty mild flavors, but descent. $15 seems high. The frech toast is lightly battered and sweet. Side of bacon is 3 strips for $6. Overall, not bad. Might come back.

Yelp
If you're Mexican black or a person of color you're better off going somewhere else. We waited about 10 minutes without even a greeting. I watched the servers mess around and purposefully avoid us hoping they were just busy. Another family that looked like locals, walked in as we were walking out and were instantly greeted with smiles and menus. Support if you will we just walked down the street to another restaurant. Support those who want your business.

Yelp
Visited Humpys in June. Chose this restaurant mostly because it had mud pie on the menu and that it was open somewhat later than other places. When my friend and I first got there around 9pm we were confused about seating cause we didn't see a host or an obvious sign to seat ourselves. I ended up asking a random person if she knew if we're supposed to seat ourselves and she said yes, so we did. We shared the caesar salad, onion rings and the chicken and mushroom alfredo. I thought something tasted different but good about the alfredo, my friend thinks it was rosemary? not sure. We were excited to get dessert but when I tried to order the waitress said that the kitchen was closed. She said she didn't think we would have wanted dessert so she didn't tell us it was last call so we were pretty bummed. My friend (who's a restaurant manager) and I (with years of serving experience) can't imagine how hard it would be to get a slice of mud pie from the freezer and plate it despite the kitchen being closed especially when it was the server's fault for not telling us when it was last call.

Yelp
This place has an excellent location. We went there for dinner. Our waitress Emily was a very nice young lady that did her job as best as she could. The "Fresh Catch" had a bad taste suggesting it was not so fresh. The upstairs bar was dead empty. The 1990's music they were playing was possibly the cause. I asked Emily if they could change the music to something a little more up to date. I suggested Lil Dickie radio on their Pandora. The manager changed to some equally buzz killing old genre. Humpy's come on man if you want your nice bar full of patrons, try playing some better tunes. And Fresh catch doesn't taste like that There, I fixed it.

Yelp
The banner hung over the building caught our attention- the best breakfast in Kona. Otherwise I would assume it was bar restaurant. We went there for breakfast on a week day, off season, so it was not too packed. We found parking space right away, the food was tasty, service was great and the view is amazing.

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin. We came here for dinner around 830pm. We basically seated ourselves and waited for someone to take our order - 20 mins later, no-one showed up so we went up to the waiter on the other side of the room who was wrapping the silverware in the napkins. He came over, took our order. Fish and chips was okay but the rest of the meals were below standard. No water was served, no-one checked up on us after the food showed up. After the food, no-one to showed to give us the check either... do not think we will be returning to this place. The view are phenomenal though. Upper balcony view, please clean up bird poop.

Yelp
Excellent view! Directly across the street from the ocean! Beautiful sunset experience! Prices are fair, pretty reasonable for Kona! We had the health not plate, $17 it was Mahi-mahi and we both ordered it blackened. It was served with white rice and tartare sauce and the combination of the three was absolutely delicious! I was not a fan of the pickled cucumbers. Waitress was excellent! She was attentive but not intrusive, checking in on us periodically to see if we wanted more to drink or refill our waters. We also had fried calamari for a appetizer. It was delicious but very small. Not worth the $15. I prefer it with the red cocktail sauce over the tartare sauce. We had two ipa drafts on tap, delicious! I had one mixed drink too. Delicious it was absolutely was but I didn't taste the alcohol nor did I feel it! All this was under $70 total which is a steal of a deal on the big island with an outstanding view of the sunset!

Yelp
On our last night in Kona we were looking for a spot to get some dinner that was within walking distance of our hotel. We had passed by this spot on our walks several times and figured, with that view, what better place to grab dinner? It's a seat-yourself kind of place so we went upstairs and found a table outside. The place wasn't fully packed but it was definitely busy. We waited about 5 minutes before we were greeted by our server who dropped off the menus (though I already knew exactly what I wanted). I ordered the Kalua Pork with Rice and Macaroni Salad because eating it at least 6 different times during my 8-day Hawaiian visit was not nearly enough. My boyfriend, on the other hand, was a little undecided and and asked our server what she would recommend. She suggested the clams saying that she absolutely loved them and that the portion was sizable enough, even though it was technically an appetizer. He had been eyeing those so he took her word for it and went with the clams. The food came out pretty quick and we were both really impressed by our dishes! The pork was amazing. I like to mix all the rice and pork and macaroni salad together into one big, messy casserole on my plate so I can get a little bit of everything in each bite. I think I ate the entire plate in a matter of minutes it was so good. My boyfriend LOVED the clams as well. I tried the sauce and it was seriously good (and I don't like seafood at all). By the time he'd eaten through every shell and sopped up the sauce with the bread, he was ready to lick the bowl clean! We got the Mud Pie for dessert and the slice delivered to our table frozen solid. At first I was bummed, but it thawed quickly and was a nice refreshment on that warm night. Overall, the food, the service, the view, the drinks were all amazing. I would definitely come back when I'm in Kona again!

Yelp
We were hungry after having drinks next door at Lavernes, and Humpy's was still open. They were getting ready to close but were very nice and let us in. Our waitress, Dot, was extremely friendly and helpful. There was a singer just below where we were sitting, and Dot asked her to sing happy birthday to my girlfriend. The food was outstanding, and the staff was extremely friendly. We will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Took the short flight from Oahu to The Big island to snorkel at night with the Manta Rays. We met a friend there for lunch at Humpy's. We picked it because it was close to our motel and has a view of the bay from your table. We picked a table on second floor at the railing. Arriving at 11:00, we found out they do not offer the full lunch menu until 11:30. Ended up ordering three of the sandwiches and a spinach salad. I was very disappointed with my salad. Plate full of spinach and very little toppings. Just a few small chunks of pineapple, two cherry tomatoes, just a couple small chunks of avocado, ball of goat cheese, , just a few onion slices and 3 or 4 carrot slivers. Even tho there were different items on it there was not enough to make it tasty or interesting. I gave the place 4 stars because everyone was happy with their sandwiches. They were so large they had left overs. Husband liked the bread dough. The view was pleasant and the service was friendly and attentive.
