The Wonton soup is watery. The wontons taste homemade, but a bit gummy, not as good as the wonton soup at Hunan Wok III in Westfield. The homemade spicy egg rolls were good, but the veggie spring rolls were greasy. The homemade crispy noodles are crunchy and delicious, the real deal, served with homemade mustard and duck sauces. Watch out! The mustard is very strong.
The flourescent, day-glo sauce on the citrus chicken was over-thickened with cornstarch, but had a pleasing orange-pineapple taste which wasn't too sweet, and the breaded chicken meat was tender and not greasy, with a subtle citrus flavor of its own. The cubes of homemade firm tofu were pretty shriveled up after wok-frying, but still tasted delicious, however the brown sauce was just a little too rich and thick for this delicate dish. Young Chow white fried rice is just right, with tender shrimp, ham cubes, nicely-cooked egg, and vegtables. The Mongolian beef was pretty good. Tender, with flavorful sauce and plentiful mei fun noodles on the bottom.
The double cooked pork had a spicy kick, but the meat was a little chewy, and it needed more soy sauce to balance the heat. The chicken in black bean sauce was very bland, almost tasteless.
The family that runs this place are very nice, and sevice is quick. Maybe not the best Chinese food I've ever had, but a bit above average for around here.
