This place is insane..insanely small and insanely busy. Insanely expensive and insanely good.These guys were literally working on top of each other. Three dudes. How the hell they manuvered was besides me. The coffee beans were ground fresh for each order! The customers were so patient. The average wait was well over 3 minutes for each customer and there were about fifteen people in here. There was a nice selection of pastries and baked goods-- chocolate croissants, butter croissants, cheddar scallion biscuits, salted peanut butter cookies, brownies and muffins. I had an Americano medium. I'm a simple guy but the choices are endless. The coffee was the best I have ever had superseding Philadelphia's La Colombe. That's saying a lot.

Excellent neighborhood cafe that has been here for over a decade. Espresso drinks are great. But what's truly outstanding are the croissants! Always fresh out of the oven, and perfectly buttery. Friendly young staff.

The cappuccino is really good especially when you have it Early in the morning, the coffee is so fresh and tasty. It's like the perfect cup of coffee to have in the morning to wake you up!

One of my all time favorite spots for a delicious cup of latte! I love the atmosphere inside with the sun getting through the windows and sitting on the bench outside is lovely too!

Travlled to Brooklyn for work. Stopped here for a hot tea - Earl Grey. Service was excellent and very friendly. Nice location.

Tasty pastries and they have almond milk! Latte was on point. Not too hot, not too cold. Great way to kick off the fall season. If it's a week day morning and you got somewhere to be leave yourself some time. If you have time there are places to sit and do work.

I love this coffee shop. They have oat milk (a lot of coffee shops still don’t carry it). They also carry vegan and gluten-free pastries. So there is something for everyone. The coffee shop is a little small but there are enough tables to sit at. There is also a bathroom for customers which is great. I got the vegan carrot muffin which was tasty and coffee with oat milk.

Just delicious oat milk latte. That's it. That's all I had. No gluten free foods were available to eat with it but the drink was tasty.

Love the matcha coffee! Great service. Got a Madeleine too!! Look forward to returning!

Great place to come and study for a few hours, drink was ok, croissant was tasty, service was fast. I got a good chunk of one of my school assignments done and had a nice interaction with a fellow customer. The chair I sat in by the door made me feel like a supervillain.

I had a taste for iced coffee and I went to Door Dash Kitchens first but they didn't have simple syrup. Nowadays, I can't drink my iced coffee/cold brew without some simple syrup--the granulated sugar just sits at the bottom. I pulled up my Yelp app and found Hungry Ghost. There's no seating inside, just a bar, I guess to fix your drinks and I think there's a bench or some sort of seating outside. Basically, it's a grab and go place. They just give you the coffee and you pour your milk of choice and sweetener. While I was in there, another customer saw me pouring the syrup--he didn't even know it was there because it's not marked. Overall, it's nothing memorable but it will do the job.

Serves Stumptown, coffee choices include espresso machine and slow brew. Walking distance from my friends' house. Really need not add anything more here, though the baked foods are of the high caliber you'd hope to 'pair' with your fancy cuppa.

Pretty standard coffee shop. Good amount of seating in a fairly open space. I had a matcha latte (not bad, not great) as well as a really good olive oil loaf. Service was standard, quick and simple

Eh. The place is clean and pretty. I'm sure if you get a fancy latte you may enjoy it...if you're stopping in for a regular coffee? Ehhh. Coffee was bland, milk looked like it was sitting out for too long. Others have commented on the service and I'd agree, it's not outstanding. Too many other places around here to go back.

I got a cappuccino yesterday that was amazing!!! However I wish I went on a different day bc it felt more like a daycare than a coffee shop. There were what felt like over a dozen kids in such a small space running around, strollers blocking walking walkways and oblivious parents talking to each other. I give it 5 bc obviously it isn't the baristas fault that it was like that and the coffee was delicious. However if you walk up to the shop and you see kids in there, I'd come back later when there's less chaos

Ordered a mocha latte. The space is small but cozy. They play music so it is a bit loud. They have chairs, tables and benches to work. The service is quite fast and the staff is polite!

Delicious oat milk latte and nice interior. Right by the subway so super convenient. Love that they have multiple vegan muffins and I'd love to see other vegan baked goods as well.

Stopped by this cafe today for a quick coffee. I ordered an iced oat milk latte and honestly wasn't that impressed. It tasted sour and didn't compare to coffee I've gotten at other hungry ghost cafes. But hey given the other reviews this may just be a one time thing. One pro is that I did notice they have nitro brew and kombucha on tap! The place is clean and minimalistic, although my latte even for a NYC cafe was a little expensive ($6.80)!

Coffee is fine, but company is unprofessional and unfair to workers. There are no women in management or leadership, despite having a majority female staff. They also tend to let staff go without citing any specific violations of grievances other than "a change of culture" which seems to be linked to removing long term staff in favor of young, impressionable workers who can be paid less. I was a regular at one location where I enjoyed the professionalism and kindness of most of the workers. Within a couple of months, I noticed that none of the baristas were the same and discovered this to be the reason upon investigating. I was aghast to hear that such professional employees were let go. I will not be supporting this company again. Too many good coffee spots in NY to support ones that do not care about their staff!

If I'm paying $6 for a 12oz of coffee can you please give me a greeting, smile, hello. For a bunch of people on cafine this was most depressing soul sucking place to visit. And apparently there's a trick to putting on the tops to your coffee. It took me 5 minutes to put the top on my coffee and a guy came over and said yeah. You need a degree for this! Oh and the coffee was not that good!

You get what you pay for. A (small) chocolate croissant and mocha latte cost almost $10 however they were perfectly delicious. The place is clean and orderly inside and the staff keeps things moving in a pleasant way.

Clean store and great coffee. Very fast prep and serve. There's multiple HG locations. I definitely recommend this location.

I felt robbed...on the wall the price was five dollars...in hand it was six seventythree...urghhhh not coming back...

The staff appeared disinterested and lacked enthusiasm when interacting with customers. Moreover, they seemed almost purposly mean struggling to answer basic questions about the available options. unwelcoming atmosphere! No internet. Not clean.

I had an Americano medium. I'm a simple guy but the choices are Starbuck's endless. The coffee was the best I have ever had superseding Philadelphia's La Colombe. That's saying a lot. Must be nice to be rich and able to consume these artisian drinks on a regular basis.

Some of the best coffee in Brooklyn. Knowledgeable and skillful baristas. Also delicious pastries and cookies. Try to get them hot out of the oven.

Good coffee, unfortunate croissant variety. They're going for multiple croissant options (which I highly approve of) but miss the mark by just making regular croissants and stuffing or rolling them in whatever flavor they're going for instead of designing them specifically for the flavor.. day ruining? No. Disappointing and messy? Yes. Bottom line: If you're going to go croissant here, go regular.

I came here after a workout class to catch up with a friend, at first I wasn't sure if there was going to be a place to sit but luckily people don't crowd around for too long. I really enjoyed the salmon toast, the salmon was very fresh! I also got there chocolate croissant (not the most amazing but still tasty). Their matcha latte with oat milk was sooo good. I always assess a cafe by how well they make that drink and they did a great job. The bathroom was also very clean. You order at the counter and then you sit down and they bring you the food, it was cool how they remembered me- great service' the decorations make you feel like this is truly a brooklyn cafe!

I stopped by here twice because I just love the coffee and lattes here. Its a pretty neat spot with great ambience for a relaxed vibe. It has ample seating and tables for you to get work done or just have casual talk with some friends. I definitely would come back just to do a little bit of studying while enjoying a great roast. I personally love any place that uses Stumptown coffee and does it right since its one of my favorite roasts so its no surprise that I love the coffee here. Its also a plus that they offer oat milk here as well which is one of my personal favorites to put in coffee. Staff here is quite friendly and will be sure to pay attention to your requests. From what I've seen, the food here is also good so next time I stop by I will give their breakfast options a try.

This afternoon I went to this location for a coffee. It was busy and there was a long line so I was able to observe the people before me being helped. When I was in the store I was one of about 15 other white people. There was one black woman ahead of me with her two children who ordered, paid, and went to sit and wait for her drink to be called. During the time I was there drinks would be called out when they were ready and placed on the counter to be picked up. I watched about 9 people grab their drink before the black woman went to check on her drink and was told it would be up next. She returned to her children and went back up to grab her drink 30 seconds later when it was called. As she grabbed the drink the manager behind the cash register stopped her and asked if that was her drink. Understandably she was offended given that he had not asked any of the previous customers and she was the only black customer in the store. Instead of apologizing the manager became defensive and denied the accusation stating that he asks everyone. Even after she plainly explained to him how his question came across (i.e., accusing the only black customer of taking someone's drink) the manager denied the claim and dismissively told her to enjoy her drink. If you don't like your coffee with a side of racism, get your oat milk latte elsewhere.

Manager rudely and accusatorily asked the only Black person in the store if that was her drink she'd just picked up. When she didn't let him get away with it he argued with her but did not apologize. After putting her drink down by her children, she even went back and tried to explain to him in a calm and reasonable tone (something I'd have been too shaken to do) what it looked like, he still did not apologize.

I'm often at this location but after today's interaction with the barista in charge of the espresso machine I no longer wish to visit the Fort Greene HG. I know not all the baristas there are jerks but this guy (dark blond/ginger beard, glasses, anger issues, working the 5pm shift on Saturday) sure yelled at me because I simply asked him about my coffee. Excuse me!!! A simple "it's coming up" would've done the trick but no he had to yell that he had two lattes coming up and made me feel super uncomfortable & stupid for tipping. Other clients (you know those people that give their $$ to the coffee shop & TIP too BTW) looked at me just as shocked as I was with his reply. Someone with such poor anger management ability should not be working with the public!

Good coffee, stressful staff. It's not a nice coffee run anymore when four (!) different baristas ask me how I like my coffee, which bean variety I'm about to pick from the shelf across the store ("please just give me a moment to look, I haven't made it there yet"), and snap are me in the process. First, coordinate among yourselves please, and second, calm down -- it's just coffee -- and third, try not to roll your eyes at your sleepier-than-usual regular customers on a Sunday morning. I work in service too, and get that jobs are stressful. However, there's no reason to treat neighbors like they're an inconvenience.

Great alternative from the shops on a Saturday morning walk through the park. The weekend staff is busy and willing to have more personality than the opening cashier on the weekdays (Wednesday 10/8). The experienced morning weekday staff have excellent customer service (Barista) asking if I would like additional items. The cashier looks stressed and just there for the money. Sorry, Pass in weekdays come stop by weekends, folks!

My absolute FAVORITE place for an oat latte. I pop in before work frequently and the disconnect from WIFI is so useful for morning journaling and reading the newspaper. It's insanely busy, but I always manage to find a seat.

The chalk board menu, Cow skull, and other decorations give it a hipster French cafe look. They have one high top communal table and 5 two-top tables, and a bench seating outside. I had a Large draft Kombucha using my Cups App. Use promo code 25pn5 for a $10 credit and ability to drink discounted coffee. The Kombucha was effervescent, citrusy, and really refreshing. This is definitely place that I will continue me back to.

Lovely corner coffee shop which has an array of local craft beers for sale individually or in a six pack as well as a moderately sized cafe drinks menu. I love that they have bench seating built into the exterior of the shop. Perfect for COVID safety and for watching the world go by.

The Baristas are very rude and all have a nasty attitude including the Cashier person. Two of them had Blue eyes, one of them had brown eyes. They were all Male. No Hello Good Morning, the barista basically threw my drink at me. On top of that this place is very racist towards African American people. Do not support them if you are African American. Go where your business is appreciated!! Learn Basic Customer Service Skills it will definitely Help your business!

Neighborhood coffee shop always busy with a line and people working/chatting inside this small 400 sf place. Nice place to sit outside to watch the sunset in fort Greene. Lovely staff. The new beans come in every Thursday so best to pick up your bag on Thursday/Friday. It comes with a free cup of coffee. I go for the iced coffee and they charge me 50 cents to a dollar to make it a large.

I've been looking for a go to spot around here for coffee AND iced tea (I find places are usually not strong in both) and finally I found it! Friendly and helpful barista explained that they make a large batch of black iced tea and will make any other kind to order. I got the jasmine green and it was delicious! Not watered down at all-great flavor. My guy got a nitro cold brew (how can you resist such a trendy drink?)- he didn't love it but I did! So smooth and creamy-you could literally drink it all day-dangerous. Found my new spot!

Lattes are always great, hot chocolate is amazing as week. Service has always been exceptional every time I've been here. Music gives a nice vibe. Perfect for a coffee date. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

I order an espresso with a little cream and guy at counter repeats my order then charges me for a macchiato. He gets more clarification from the barista that I only ordered an espresso and tells me he still charged me for an macchiato and makes no attempt to correct the overcharge. Since when are things like this ok? Arrogant and dishonest.

Awesome coffee shop with AWESOMER AC! Perfect for a mid summer day drink. They have nitro brew coffee on tap. They even have kombucha on tap!!! I need to get one of those in my future house. Great coffee and great vibes!

I got a cold brew and scone for breakfast. Service was fast and food was good. I also got to sit on the outside bench for a few minutes and people watched. No hassle place. Would definitely stop by next time I'm in Fort Greene again

Solid coffee spot. Clean. Great presentation usually. There hot chocolate used to be the BEST ever but now they have different baristas that make it taste like literal Ovaltine sometimes.

Cute little coffee shop. I went there before going to a movie at BAM and downloaded the CUPS app, which saved me a few cents on my Chai Latte. I also got a chocolate filled croissant although you can't pay for food items with the CUPS app. There's some seating, maybe half a dozen tables and I did manage to grab a seat on a Saturday afternoon to get some work done. Family friendly. Would 100% go again.

Wow, this spot was super busy on a Sunday morning. Everyone there seemed to expect that already, knowing how to weave the line around the space and even out the door. For $5, I got an egg and cheese sandwich. It did the trick but was more expensive than a bodega egg and cheese sandwich. Cute spot, though, with a lovely tiled floor and a few spaces to sit. I also appreciated the outdoor benches along both sides of the coffee shop.

In town from Seattle for a quick visit, one of the best Mochas I have ever had. Great chocolate to milk ratio, latte art was done well. Croissant was great, (they don't have an oven to warm anything up FYI)

The coffee is still good but I still feel like the staff hates me for existing. The drinks remain overpriced by about 50 cents.

A perfect cappuccino, (4.50)our barista was pleasant and they have a loyalty card they stamp eventually you can get a cup for free! Conveniently next to Boqueria which we stopped for tapas but I wanted coffee from an actual cafe, relaxed atmosphere would return!

Excellent espresso drinks for reasonable prices, 75c extra for soy/almond/oat milk. Gender neutral restroom. Great place to sit outside in the summer and watch the world go by. Sandwiches and pastries galore, with enough to keep vegetarians satisfied.
