The Best Hot Dogs in Portland, Oregon | Eater Portland

"Vegan breakfast corn dogs may sound like a hallucinating Portland food generator algorithm, but rest assured these are very real — vegan breakfast sausages fried until crisp in pancake batter and served with maple-mustard dipping sauce. Those sipping at the funky Hungry Tiger later in the day can enjoy more conventional vegan corn dogs with a wider array of dipping sauces. While vegan bar treats are the focus here, there are some animal protein options for meat lovers in the party, including a beef burger and fried chicken sandwich." - Nathan Williams

Where to Find Tasty Totchos and Other Loaded Tots in Portland - Eater Portland

"There’s no shortage of vegan junk food in the city. Black Water does totchos made with ground seitan and cashew cheeze, while vegan-friendly dive bar, Hungry Tiger, makes theirs with black beans, pico de gallo, and pickled jalapeños, topped with sour cream and nacho cheese (either vegan or dairy). For a heartier version, proteins can be added, including Beyond Beef. Hungry Tiger has an outdoor patio and is offering takeout and delivery." - Krista Garcia

The female bartender that took our order did not have the best attitude but The food was very good. The corn beef and hash was scramble on top of hash-brown patties with faken on top. It was not corn beef and hash but was delicious nonetheless. The vegan breakfast corn dogs were fire 🔥 .Definitely will be back to try more of their vegan options.

Google
Great food and drink specials, selection of NA drinks as well. I come for the vegan food, which is expansive and delicious here. When I go to concerts at Revolution Hall, this is my go-to spots beforehand. Indoor seating along with an outdoor patio, the interior boasts a bar with seating, a pool table with tables and chairs for eating, cool posters lining the walls.

Google
Fun, funky little place! Very busy around the time we arrived but the line moved quick. My significant other and I are not vegan and our friends are and this place accommodated all of us! Friendly employees! Good food and drink, great tunes and a fun vibe. They have a pool table, pinball machines and just an overall fun esthetic! We will definitely be back!

Stopped into hungry tiger on Christmas Day after hiking and grabbing a bite to eat. It was happy hour from 3 to 7, apparently it is every single day, and we each got a few very enjoyable and inexpensive cocktails and played pinball. The atmosphere is very cozy and there are a lot of pinball machines which were super fun for a rainy afternoon and my partner and I played for about an hour total. We briefly looked at the food menu, although we were still full for lunch, but mostly everything was vegan, and if we hadn’t eaten not even an hour before arriving, we definitely would’ve tried some of the food because it looked amazing. Basically everything is vegan, and that included like a chicken basket or something like that so yeah, very impressed with this place and would absolutely come back. Thanks so much, Hungry Tiger!

Google
Great dive bar, but better. Elevated. Great patio space, good pinball and beers on tap. Didn't eat because we already had prior.

Awesome place with tons of vegan friendly options. Great atmosphere. There wasn't enough Pico for the chips and you cant select a mix of the tacos. Still highly recommend this place. Exceptional service all around. Also, Mike deserves a raise!

Google
Though it is against my normal dietary plan, I've heard a lot about the infamous vegan Portland corn dogs, and I had to have one! Also, I was surprised by the number of vegan options available! This place is great for bar food, that comes in a small portion, pretty greasy, but overall tastes good. If you're looking for a meal, you would have to order several items off of the menu in order to be satisfied, I think. You order at the bar and then take a number and your food is served to you. The bartenders were extremely friendly and helpful in explaining the menu and picking sauces of which there are many. If you order fries you don't automatically have ketchup at your table, but it is readily available along with spicy mustard. If you're in the mood for something relatively and healthy they do have a kale salad. Though, I cannot comment on the kale salad. The fries were hot and fresh and the perfect texture. The corn dog tastes just like the corn dogs from childhood, which was surprising, considered that as a kid I ate the kind that had meat! I think this place is definitely worth a try and if you consume alcohol, definitely worth a visit. The decor is interesting and engaging, there are pool tables and gaming machines there. It's good for a Meetup, so long as it's not a professional one! There are intimate tables for you to gather with friends and hang out in a dimly lit friendly place.

Google
Old school Portland... A dark and vibrant dingy bar with good food/drinks and a large patio. They have pinball machines that are used by competitive pinballers and a pool table. One of my favorite spots, I love the vegan (tofu) buffalo wings... All the flavor without the cruelty 👍 A couple negatives: Sometimes the bar line can be pretty long and lets just say, I wouldn't want to be a woman and have to use the bathrooms.

Yelp
Ended up at this bar when the one near our conference hotel closed too early plus my colleagues wanted to play pinball so drinks and pinball only for our group. The bartender was great! Attentive with just the right amount of attitude and even made sure our rideshare arrived to bring us back to our hotel since we were the last folks out. I even got to explain the shot and a beer concept (that was on special) to a couple of Brits so that was fun. Would definitely hang out again for ambiance and the Godzilla pinball machine.

Yelp
My friend told me about this cool bar in Portland that has a pool table plus it's vegan friendly & meat friendly and I was sold! We went (party of 4) on a Friday night around 8:30pm, there was only street parking available but it wasn't difficult to find a spot. It was pretty busy with a long line to order food & drinks but the line went fast and we got our food within 30 minutes. Inside the bar there are tables around the pool table area and it can get quite loud. It was a little hard to have a conversation inside but it's a bar, people are eating, drinking and playing pool so it's expected. There is also an outside patio area. We ordered so much food and I loved every bite! For starters we ordered 2 vegan corn dogs which were everything I've been missing for the past 9 years. They were so good I got a little suspicious wondering if they were really vegan. The corn dogs are house battered and served with a sauce of your choice. The vegan Tiger Fries were incredible! They kind of reminded me of disco fries because of the vegan cheese sauce mixed with the rosemary and garlic. They also offer regular Tiger Fries which our friends ordered and enjoyed. We ordered two different vegan Mac's - vegan Chicken and Broccoli & vegan Cheeseburger Mac. Both very delicious! The veg chicken and broccoli was made with Beyond Chicken that was seasoned in house - I loved it! The veg Cheeseburger Mac was made with Beyond Beef which was also seasoned in house - this was full of flavor and tastes exactly how you'd imagine. Some non vegan appetizers that were ordered - Soft Pretzel with Cheese - friends said the pretzel was great but the cheese sauce wasn't warmed up and it was more of a goo than a sauce. Hard to dip the pretzel. Tiger Fries with Parmesan and garlic aioli - friends said these were delicious and they would order them again. Teriyaki Chicken Bowl- friends said the sauce was nice, it was served with broccoli, carrots, green onion and breaded chicken. Overall we had a great experience and will go back for more vegan friendly and meat friendly options!

Yelp
I called ahead after a bad experience at a different restaurant and John answered the phone. He was extremely helpful so my wife and I decided to stop by. We sat at the bar ordered food and decided to take a table instead. A guy comes out and said let me wipe the table and helped us with getting our food and extra sauces. Before we left I asked him if he answered the call and sure enough he did. From start to finish, John was great! He really made our whole experience! I cannot say enough. Food was great. We ordered the vegan corndog and the vegan bacon cheeseburger. Cocktails were good too, Tiger Tea was a favorite!

Yelp
Back again with another review for Hungry Tiger. The vegan wings, smothered with bbq sauce, were delicious, and perfect for dipping in ranch. A crunchy texture! And of course, you have to try the famous corn dog.

Yelp
This is maybe my third or fourth time stopping in. Played some pool, drank a beer, got some bar food. Server assistant/food runner/bussed always is going such a fantastic job. Props to him :) Everything was lovely! Except today both mine, and my partner's stomachs were quite upset, and the only common denominator was what we ate at hungry tiger, so I'm docking a star for that. Otherwise, everything was awesome as always. We will be back!

Yelp
This place gets 5 stars because I love it!! Nothing says comfort food like fries and corn dogs...well for me at least. I haven't been able to get a decent one in the 23 years I have been vegetarian. This place is legit good! It's down inside street so it took an extra minute to find it which makes it all that much better. It looks as if it's in the ground floor of an older home. You walk in to a bar and dark hole-in-the wall vibes. There aren't a ton of tables so I feel like this place is more of a "bar" than a restaurant. We sat at the bar got a drink special (shot and beer) and ordered the fries and corndogs. All came out so crispy and fresh we ate every morsel. My only complaint if there is one was the bartender. Zero personality, he just stood there barely saying a word, looking like he was annoyed we were there. We had to spark some kind of discussion with him since we were the only patrons. Besides him this place is a 5 star for me. We came twice during our 3 day stay!!

Yelp
Our experience was fantastic! The margaritas, beers, and food were exceptional, and the vegan corn dogs were a standout. The hand-dripped flavor was distinct, and the funky atmosphere was enhanced by the pool table and pinball machines. Definitely recommend visiting if you're nearby!

Yelp
Patio is okay but don't love that you have to form a line to get your drinks. Atmosphere is kinda meh. It's a local spot but not one I frequent. No tv's.

Yelp
A dear friend introduced me to a favorite spot of hers. The Hungry Tiger has two things.... 1) A SOLID foot hold into the potential for being one of the last true hold outs of punk rock bathrooms in Portland. I do not give this title.... Just the potential for a nod or possible honorable mention. Although there were Clorox wipes in there also so that might take them straight out of the running since that squelched a lot of fear one should have in a proper punk rock scene bathroom where you were fearful to even hover over the lid. 2) One of the crabbiest bar tenders in PDX - just wow, why you so mad? Apparently asking what kind of cheese they had for my burger was taking our relationship to a level she did not consent to. Maybe I look like her ex-wife? I do not know but me and my friend kept doing whatever we could to go to the other person because he was delightful. I know we all gotta earn a living but when you are talking to people as if you want to do damage to their face, maybe dealing with the public isn't your jam? Later she seemed to be having a drink as a customer staring at her phone in between glaring at others. Me and my friend are super friendly too so she was seriously coming for us for no reason. This was a cute space too with pretty alright food. Got a bit busy towards 11 with some nice locals. I did love all the Tiger vibes - embracing a theme is pretty great and so is a nice paint job. Makes you want to stay and hang out. MY friend is a vegan and this spot has a ton of options for her and also a bunch of meat for those of us who go either way. The burger was beef for me and honestly I sort of wished I grabbed a veggie one because the flavor was meh... The tots were that perfect crispy though and I was having some jealousy looking at my friend's nachos which looked pretty amazing.

Yelp
Acknowledging their strengths, I must express that the establishment falls severely short in professionalism, particularly in the realm of hospitality--it tends to convey a more hostile atmosphere rather than a welcoming one. The subpar customer service significantly detracts from the overall ambiance, resulting in an unsatisfactory experience. There are undoubtedly better dining options available elsewhere, or one may choose to prepare meals at home. Personally, I have been affected by the discriminatory treatment I encountered. This experience has led me to always check reviews before patronizing a place. It's disheartening to note that this business has consistently provided similar treatment to multiple individuals of different ages and backgrounds, as reflected in their reviews. It's disappointing that little effort has been made to improve and that empathy seems to be lacking, instead of making strides towards a more inclusive environment. In my humble opinion, the management of this business should take personal responsibility for these issues, as they have mistreated others in a manner similar to my own experience. -ex loyal customer

Yelp
Came here with my family and upon arrival bartender (older petite person with glasses) was very rude and clearly annoyed to our entire party of 4. Chucked it up to a bad day at best and still tipped, later to find out she made a mistake on delivering our order and when asked to resolve she was very snarky and once my friend asked why she was being rude, she threatened not to serve us anymore. We all sympathized thinking she was having a difficult night however there are several reviews specifically about her and her infamous unkindness and being overall unpleasant and rude to patrons. Really loved the hungry tiger before however it seems the bar refuses to coach or even shine light on this persons behavior. I believe in the best of people however this may be a case of habitual unwelcomeness and hatred towards guests. Her colleagues even apologized to our party for her behavior, I do hope management or owners look into this although Im doubtful. Please beware of this server if they serve you.

Yelp
I depended on this bar for dinner most of my adventure visiting Oregon! Thank god they were open late and had cute ambience, wonderful vegan options along with non vegan options for my meat eating boyfriend. Most of the bartenders were amiable, but some of them seemed to be a little off putting, maybe they were having a hard day. I truly enjoyed my three nights here and the vegan Mac with broccoli and vegan corn dogs were my favorite! I definitely highly recommend this establishment for anyone visiting Portland! Such a fun place (though I tried to convince the bartender to put up a random photo of tiger woods or Tony the Tiger, the only two tigers I didn't see!)

Yelp
People are super nice, good prices and vegan corndogs never fail on a long night after playing at the pool table and having a couple drinks

Yelp
Hungry Tiger, where the hunger is real, but the satisfaction is as elusive as a mirage in the desert. Never have I ever walked out of a restaurant gagging and nearly throwing up, until I came here!! I ordered the fish sandwich, or should I say the aquatic abomination. The "fish" fillet was as dry as the Sahara, leaving me questioning if it had ever seen the depths of the ocean. However, I'm sure that the undercooked frozen fish stick shoved in between two soggy hot dog buns was still swimming by the time it reached my table. The chicken strips were so disappointing, I genuinely couldn't even tell if the chicken made it into the fryer. I fear the chicken never made it to the other side of the road, the tenders were as flat as road kill.

Christine A.

Yelp
Terrible food. Hostile management. I see the reviews about the bartenders, but it's a top down problem. And god forbid the manager see you share the terrible food with your dog. The next time you order it will be "the manager said the kitchen is too busy to make that," while other people will literally be ordering the same thing. I don't think the manager likes older women because they younger women with dogs yapping their heads off and lunging at wait staff seem to be fine with him. But let an older woman share the awful food with her dog and he's so mad he won't even make money for his own employer by selling her food again.

Yelp
I was SO HAPPY to see that this place opened back up after having to close during the pandemic!!! The menu seems to be a little different, but not in a bad way. There are still loads of vegetarian and vegan options available. I love getting the "vings" (tofu wings). They are also famous for their veggie corn dogs! Hungry tiger also has meat options for your friends that refuse to eat vegetarian. Great patio out back. Pool table and pinball inside. Cheap drinks, great service, and tiger artwork everywhere you look. What else could one want in a dive bar? Please go support this place so they don't have to close again!
google avatar

Vicky L.

Yelp
It's all, always good here. Great patio area, menu can be carne or veggie, specialty drinks, cool decor, decent service. Hang out spot, quick drink and bite, you'll have a good time
google avatar

Kendal W.

Yelp
only two stars because the bartender with glasses and long gray hair is one of the most unpleasant people i've ever met. i really want to like this place--the food is good, beer selection is good, and overall decor and vibes are fun, plus a pool table. but that bartender is an absolute see you next tuesday. they literally tossed my food basket at me one time. it seems like every other review mentions their horrible attitude, so i'm not alone. i took my girlfriend here the other night and she thought i was exaggerating until she experienced the same attitude and terrible service. maybe don't work with people or in the service industry anymore???

Gigi J.

Yelp
I came here by myself: I was not aware that people of color were not welcome. After standing in line to be serviced I was denied service despite following the social rules of waiting in line and striking up a conversation. I had only striked a random conversation with others in the bar. I was in line after another couple spoke to me: When I disengaged with the couple to order, I was denied service. Keep in mind all we spoke about was my Latin food and general heritage. I left with no fuss when I was asked to. I was told "I'm not comfortable serving you" by a white woman bartender to me a brown woman who literally did nothing offensive, but of course this is Portland, such a disgrace. I replied with an okay thank you and walked out the door. Also, if the owner or whoever wants to ask for proof. I have my statements and you guys have cameras. Keep in mind that I was serviced when I arrived BEFORE they heard where my family is from and when I was denied I was in no way disorderly before, during, or after.
google avatar

Olivia P.

Yelp
I dooooo really love it here, I like the cheap vegan food and the cheap cider and the roomy seating inside and out but what I don't love is the woman (sorry to assume gender, they are woman presenting so I'm going with that) who works here with the gray hair and glasses who seems to hate customers :( my partner and I dread when we have to be served by her. I can see in other reviews that other people feel the same. So while the vegan corn dogs are the best around, beware of the nightmare bartender. Like I know it's a dive bar and I don't need to be waited on hand and foot but damn would it kill you to treat me like a normal human/customer. Shoutout to the other workers tho
google avatar

Yelp
Found this gem by googling "vegan bar" in Portland. It's a very casual bar to enjoy tasty food and delicious drinks. I ordered hand cut fries, beyond meat tacos, and my boyfriend got mac and cheese with vegan cheese and broccoli. Oh yeah, they have extensive vegan food options and what we tried was super fresh, delicious and honestly impressive for a bar! They also have pinball machines and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend checking this place out!

Piper B.

Yelp
Service was horrible. Bartender with glasses was super rude upon arrival. Not helpful, and complained when brought the wrong food. Food was great, drinks were okay, service was ass. Will not be back

Yelp
SOUTHEAST - PORTLAND, OR 11/18/19 +Bar and food service was on point. +This is a chill, dive bar with one pool table and a couple arcade games. +There's a lot of vegan options, which is pretty cool. -The food is a bit of a grease fest. I'd come back for happy hour, if I'm in the area. Go check them out, if you're into dive bars!

Tammy J.

Yelp
COLD DRINKS AND GOOD PEOPLE Right ON, Hungry Tiger Big back deck with some sun shade and fans. We see corn dogs. We didn't try them but they look fantastic.
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Great place to grab a drink and enjoy time with friends and family. It gets louder as the evening goes on but the drinks are reasonably priced and the pub(y) food was satisfying. Vegan corn dog is a must.

Lucie J.

Yelp
Such a horrible experience has led me to my very first Yelp review. Petite older lady server with glasses - the worst service I've ever experienced. Her aggressive and intentional rudeness is just so unacceptable. I love to give people a chance but throughout the evening myself and my friends experienced just the pettiest and snarkiest remarks and actions from this person - none of us had ever encountered anything quite like that. It put a dampener on our evening for sure. To add to this most of our food order was wrong and average at best. There are so many better bars around.
google avatar

Matt S.

Yelp
Don't pay attention to their Yelp info. Menu, hours, amenities... according to the server they "don't use that site". SLOWWWWWWWW. We stood at the spot to order takeout for 15 minutes before we were even acknowledged and at least 5 employees passed us and just looked at us. Food was expensive for bar food. A few decent vegan options but overall just meh. Plus for late open. Minus that we almost brought kids not realizing it was a bar, luckily we saw the pictures somewhere else with a "No Minors" chalk drawing.
google avatar

Chelsea P.

Yelp
This is such a cute and hip little bar, and they have really good vegan food as well! Definitely try the Mac and cheese and the corn dogs
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
Vegan nachos were great! Corn dogs gave me a stomachache but were good. Divey bar that has pinball machines and pool!

Natalia G.

Yelp
One server was awesome - interesting, attentive, engaged, but there was an older, petite woman with glasses who was incredibly rude to patrons. She was having a bad night and wanted everyone to know. The bar's a Portland institution and she's doing them a disservice. Multiple parties left. I'll reconsider going back.
google avatar

Quay K.

Yelp
Visiting here and as a vegetarian the corn dogs were to die for. Cute little spot with really decent prices. Wells are cheap and good. I had 2 corn dogs and 2 wells for $15- I was amazed. Awesome place.
google avatar

Jessi M.

Yelp
Came here from out of town and was really exited to stop in on my way to the airport and the hours changed. Says open at 10 but doesn't open until 11. Might want to update yelp.
google avatar

Kristine H.

Yelp
I came here because I was in town for a convention and some people organized a meetup here to accommodate the vegans in our group. I arrived ahead of time, lucked out, and snagged a parking spot across the street. I learned there's an outside patio for smokers but I only poked my head outside for a moment when I arrived to look for people. I sat inside surrounded by tiger decor everywhere While I waited, I ordered a 12th Street Pounce - a beautiful drink vodka, fresh squeezed grapefruit with grapefruit bitters. lychee syrup and a St. Germain wash. I saw several people enjoying soft pretzels so I ordered one when my drink came and was pleased to have it with vegan cheese sauce. When people arrived, some of us split an order of fully loaded vegan tot-chos with extra jalapeños and house-made salsa. Both were very good if not on the greasier side. The server was very friendly and also let us know that all their food could be made vegan! It was packed with people by the time that I departed and if I lived locally, I'd definitely make this a place I'd frequent.
google avatar

Macall P.

Yelp
If I could give no stars I would. I live about 4 minutes away from this establishment and it is late no where is open so I thought I would get a quick BLT. I tried calling for it to go but they said I had to come in to order. When I got there the lady behind the bar was very rude. She would not serve me because I needed my ID, I told her I had a picture on my phone along with my covid vaccination but she did not have the time of day. I was not coming for a drink I just wanted something besides McDonald's. I would not recommend this place. Customer service is a big thing for me. I was just trying to get a BLT not bloody marry
google avatar

Alyssa G.

Yelp
We enjoyed the Mac and cheese and totchos. It was pretty busy on a Saturday night. They have pool and pinball machines
google avatar

Brian S.

Yelp
Decent little place. Good cocktails. I had a burger and it made me violently puke outta my whispering corn-dispenser.
google avatar

Danielle R.

Yelp
Food was great! Love all the vegan options. I got the vegan totchos and they were delish. Big serving as well was a plus. Minimal seating inside but there is a big outside patio. Could have used a couple more heaters on the patio because we got a table that wasn't by one and it was pretty chilly outside but overall great atmosphere. Will definitely be back to try more of the food.

Jacob P.

Yelp
Unless you are a regular don't go here. We came from out of town because of the vegan options - staff is super unfriendly and frankly rude. It's a dive but you don't have to be a terrible person too.
google avatar

Chanele R.

Yelp
This is a chill place I was recommended for some vegan corn dogs. I had been told they would be enjoyed by anyone, vegan or not. They were pretty good. They were served with fries, which were thinner than my favorite but still good. The bartender was friendly, and they had a good selection of beers and cider on tap. It seems like it would get a little crazy at night, but it was just fine on a random Sunday afternoon.

Ang C.

Yelp
I thought this place couldn't get worse but after covid it's gone even more downhill. Horrible, horrible food: veggie burger is no longer made in-house. It was served on a cold bun right out of the fridge and the burger itself was barely room temp, leaving the greasy Beyond patty congealed and almost slimy. The 'side salad' now consists of iceberg sandwich lettuce and some sad shaved carrots. On top of this comedically bad food, the same old rude service. My partner and I had to laugh about this experience because if was so bad. Never coming here again. I can't help but think all the rave reviews of this place being "a cool dive" are from basic people who have never actually been to a dive bar.
google avatar

Nicole S.

Yelp
We love hungry tiger!! but gee, the last time my coworkers and I ventured in there we had a negative experience that honestly, almost triumphs any of the great experiences we have previously had. Our group, around 5 people strolled in a couple weeks back on a decently slow tuesday night. The bartender was extremely rude with every one of us. We are all bartenders, we understand the way things operate but how we were treated was completely out of line. The bartender was aggresive, aggravated and seemed like she did not want to serve us in the slightest. This was completely apparent when one of my group members walked up to apologize for one of our people having to go back outside to grab their ID, the bartender told her to walk the hell away from the bar. She was so confrontational. We all have hard days, but when your in the service industry you need to take a step back and reevaluate how you treat people, because our service was poor at best. Other than that, youve got some amazing staff members, great drinks and wonderful food. We all have bad days, I hope she has a better one. Cheers.

Quinn A.

Yelp
I 'spose haters are gonna hate, but I honestly didn't experience any of the negative things in some of the reviews here. Service was OUTSTANDING. Two handsome guys behind the bar, both attentive, genuine, and friendly. And busy! Handling everything with speed and style. Handed me my beers, took my food order, said it would be brought to me. And it was, in short time. Vegan corn dogs were what I expected. Let's just be honest, tofu dogs taste less than great and nothing like a hot dog. However, you could dip just about anything in corn batter, fry it, and it would be good. That's what the entire carnival food empire relies on, isn't it? And it works here, too. I loved it. Mixed some tapatio into the catsup and I was very happy. Also had some vegan tiger fries. Gooy and delicious. Not healthy, oh my no - nothing healthful about this pub grub. But it satisfied my craving nicely. Played pinball, watched the sexy pool shark, had a perfect bar experience. Will be back.
google avatar

McKenzie C.

Yelp
What can I say? The decor is incredible. The vibe is right. The right light bathrooms give that proper dungeon aesthetic. The food is impeccable. The staff is top tier. I had a small payment issue and Paul resolved it swiftly in the most kind and professional way possible. I'll definitely be back soon. YUM!

Yelp
What an amazing - true Portland - spot! With all the change that's been happening all over town it's really great to still be able to sit back and relax with friends at a awesome bar. This place is a no frills bar with the essentials of good drinks, games, loud music, and dingy tables. What's also great is that they have a step up from your average "bar menu" without being too fancy. If you're in the area and you're looking for your next favorite dive - stop on by, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
google avatar

Humam T.

Yelp
This is a stereotypical dive bar except it's not a dive bar. It's dark and loud. They have pictures and statues of tigers throughout the place. There are all kinds of other decorations on the wall. If you like pinball machines, then this is your place, as they have a bunch. They have many vegan options which is nice the bartenders were a friendly and helpful. They also have few TVs and one of them was showing soccer which is always a plus. I am definitely coming back here.

Yelp
Oh Hungary Tiger how you fell off. Years back, pre new owner, you were a gem. The days when i was vegan (health not political) and this was the spot fir dozens and dozens of discounted wings for the whole family. My son 3 at the time was his favorite spot. The staff so friendly, the menu so over built and amazing. The value, the atmosphere, the amazing taste... ...then it all went dark, new owners went 21+ so the kiddo was bummed, we would avoid the street as he would beg to go. Living so close, i went with my sister just a bit ago. It was a shell of its once self. A new hipster hangout now occupied the once great resturant, the bar sceen was good, but i am a fatman at heart, and i take food over booze anyday. Hungry tiger, your food was ok, your booze were nice, but i hope you split in ahlf again and get back to your roots. As an exvegan (only 3 years) i loved you, and lost you... the one that got away. Id keep trucking by, so many other places now for me. It will he said, their vegan wings are amazing.

Yelp
Another cool dive bar in town. This one was introduced to me by Krystal F. It is a favorite location for her when she's down in this area. They have good vegetarian options like tofu buffalo wings. The cheap beer isn't a bad choice either. They have a nice semi-covered patio out back and on an 80 plus degree day, it's nice to have some shade and a good breeze. The Gabacho Chicken sandwich for me and "wings" and fries for her. The chicken sandwich was pretty good with a little spicy kick to it which was in the form of roasted green chilies. YUMMMMMM. The pepper jack, caramelized onions and avocado did wonders as well. The fries were pretty good, but could have been a little crispier. Good and friendly service and a pretty darn good bartender holding down the fort and a sweet little place to boot. Thanks Krystal!

Yelp
We just moved into the central eastside of Portland and it's nice to have something like Hungry Tiger so close by -easily a neighborhood favorite. The drinks are kinda fun, the staff is nice, the food is pretty decent (nachos are great!), and the atmosphere is unique.

Yelp
The service sucks and the food is just okay. Just save your money.

Yelp
Tiger themed dive bar. So I've been coming here for a while. I always go Thursday night for their wing special. It's .75 cents a wing and they have both real chicken wings and vegan wings! So super awesome place to go for all types of eaters. The vegan wings are made of fried tofu and come with vegan ranch. I do wish they came with celery and carrots but no such luck! You order all your food and drinks at the bar and they give you a number. You fill up your own water and grab a seat. They have a pool table and a few other arcade games. Food usually only takes a few minutes to come out. Free street parking.
