18 Essential Restaurants in Columbia, South Carolina

"The Hangar, located in the actual Curtiss-Wright Hangar, is an offshoot of Columbia’s original brewery Hunter-Gatherer. House-brewed beers are the perfect complement to the pub menu. Pizzas include Greek, chicken bacon ranch, and mushroom, with herb garlic cream sauce, fontina cheese, caramelized onions, and roasted portabella. During happy hour, or literally any other time it’s open, don’t miss the warm sausage balls, served with Hunter-Gatherer’s ESB mustard. Customers who arrive via small plane can take a quick walk or golf cart ride to the Hangar to enjoy a meal that far surpasses typical airport fare. The restaurant also hosts a farmers market on Thursday afternoons." - Anne Wolfe Postic

Local brewing heritage meets aviation history in a 1929 hangar. Sip house lagers under soaring rafters, grab a pizza, and watch small planes taxi by—an only‑in‑Columbia scene since the 1990s.

The Hunter-Gatherer was AWESOME! Columbia has quite a few great breweries, but Hunter-Gatherer is right up there with all of them! First and foremost, the ambiance is so cool! It's in an old airport hangar, so it's plenty spacious, and they lean into the history of the hanger with some really cool contemporary artwork of airplanes, pilots, and helicopters. One of my friends is a pilot, and he loved looking at all of the different art pieces they had. I also loved the set-up, with the empty barrels and brewing equipment in plain view. In terms of their brews, they were immaculate as well. I tried a few different ones, all of which were great, but settled on the Grapefruit IPA, which is one of my favorite IPAs that I've ever tasted. Some of their other great ones were the Galaxy IPA, the Hazy IPA, and the English Pale Ale. With regard to their food, the pizza was absolutely DELICIOUS. It was baked to perfection, tasted amazing, and was the exact amount of crispy without tasting burnt. My guests said that they enjoyed their salads as well. Finally, the entire staff was super sweet, and made me feel welcomed the whole time. They chatted with me, provided me samples, and generally made me want to come back time and time again. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the Hunter-Gatherer, and it's now one of my favorite spots in Columbia!

Google
Hunter-Gatherer at the Curtiss-Wright Hangar is arguably the most unique brewery experience in South Carolina. The setting is incredible—a massive, historic aircraft hangar with high ceilings, original beams, and a rustic, cavernous feel. They brew all their beer on-site, and their focus on traditional English and German styles is a refreshing change. The Kellerbier is a standout—unfiltered, crisp, and incredibly drinkable. The atmosphere is laid-back and family-friendly, with plenty of space to spread out. They often have live music or trivia nights, which adds to the community feel. The food is simple and good, with pizzas and pretzels that pair perfectly with the beer. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about the brewing process. Sitting outside on their patio on a cool evening, looking at the old hangar, is a truly special Columbia experience. It’s a must-visit for history buffs and beer lovers alike.

Google
A great spot for drinks and socializing! The ambiance here is fantastic, creating a welcoming and lively atmosphere. The bartenders are skilled and attentive, making the experience even better. The beer selection is delicious, though the food doesn’t quite meet the same standard. Overall, it’s an excellent place for gathering with friends and enjoying great drinks.

Google
Great brewery in an historic location with plenty of parking. We had a large group (about 20) meeting up on a Saturday night about 7, and were able to hold down a large table, order plenty of beer and sample the delicious variety of pizza. The upstairs balcony is delightful ambiance for a date or quiet conversation, and would make for great pictures. Friendly staff; highly recommend.

Google
The place with its history is awesome, the beer is tasty, but the service kinda sucked. The bartenders didn’t seem to enjoy their jobs..at all. We greeted them with excitement just to be met with disappointment. My girlfriend wanted to tip 15%, but I insisted on 20% because I’m in the industry. I honestly wish I let her tip the 15% percent though, because she was right.. They literally did nothing besides pour our beer. When we were trying to decide they didn’t offer any suggestions or samples..until we asked. There were no smiles, no suggestions, no nothing. They honestly kind of seemed annoyed.. So yeah, work on the staff and your place is awesome!

Google
Fantastic location in an old airplane hangar! They have a wide selection of good brews. We enjoyed the raspberry sour, west coast IPA, and ESB. The real star of the show is the food. The pizzas are delicious, the brat was a quality sausage on a really good bun and the pulled pork was really good as well.

Matt Hess

Google
Nice battery brewery with small menu of traditional bar food. Wide selection of beers that is updated regularly. Not a huge selection of food, but the pizza I ordered was fairly large and tasted like pizza. A lot of space to sit so large groups can be accommodated, including both indoors and outdoors. The building is an old airplane hanger and includes a large amount of brewing equipment which is really cool to see. A great spot to hang out and drink with friends.

Google
I really liked the environment, it is nice and calm and the people are very friendly. I had a great waitor as well. The only thing is the pizza was a bit sloppy, i loved it otherwise but it all kinda slid off when i picked it up. I recommend this place as it is right outside a park as well!

Yelp
A few weeks ago, I was in Columbia for a convention, and some friends and I ventured to Hunter Gatherer Brewery. I love trying new places when I travel, and this brewery seemed to have something for everyone. It's in a renovated airplane hangar too! At Hunter Gatherer, you stand in line at the counter and order and pay, then you're given a number to display at your table. Unfortunately, most of our numbers did not stand up well on the tables, but our servers were still able to find us before our food got cold or before we got too hangry. The pizzas got rave reviews, as most of my friends had pizza. A single pizza feeds one very hungry person, but a lot of us left with to go boxes. If you're not super hungry, you can split a pizza. If you need to give your body a vegetable after a few days of indulgence, as I did, the Greek salad is an excellent option. The dressing came on the side and there was plenty of delicious feta. I didn't opt to add chicken or meat to my salad, but you can do this. One of us added chicken to her Caesar salad, and it was a good portion. I didn't try any beers, but Hunter Gatherer has a good selection. With all the food options and a few of our group being sober, nobody felt left out for not drinking. This is a great spot to hang out in Columbia- you will have to drive from downtown, but there's a large parking lot with free parking, and it is worth the trip.

Yelp
Such a nice place and such a relief to allow our dog inside with us and the AC. Summer menu but very good i had a basil dip and jay had a weiner plate and such good warm potato salad. Beer was great. The staff were so nice. I live good customer service . Would have like some buffalo wings, but we survived and what we had was so tasty

Yelp
Nice large space for all varieties of people. Good for kids or large groups. Very solid pizza, we like the mushroom the best. Beer not bad but we come here for the pizza. Quick service style.

Yelp
Great location watching the planes take off and land. Love the bourbon barrel ale...had a pizza nice crust crispy dough cheese, would've liked a bit more pepperoni but no biggie. Everything is order at the Bar and then it's served to you works really well. The hanger is really super cool inside.

Yelp
There were 35 of these hangers built across the country by Curtis Wright and the feel of history is everywhere. (especially if you have an interest in aviation) There are tables inside, a seating area to the right of the hanger with picnic tables and another upstairs with a great view of the runway. We have dropped by with the dogs a couple times for drinks. A great place to socialize your pups. My only complaint is the menu is pretty small, but well worth the visit.

Yelp
I finally made it to Hunter Gatherer. Parking was available in the adjacent lot. The building is huge. I love the outside space--up on the balcony area and in the grass. It is very spacious. The vibe is what I loved most! It was very chill and kid-friendly. We actually attended an event here, and the kids definitely utilized the space. It was nice to enjoy family time in a welcoming atmosphere. The afternoon menu was not expansive, but there were enough items to provide a few things. The pizza was good! We ordered a cheese pizza and a meat combination pizza. We all enjoyed the pizza, including the kids. It was a decent size as well. I loved the available water. The service was great. We ordered at the bar, and everyone was nice.  Kicking myself for not getting pizza pics. Next time though!

Yelp
Great location for a military no-host social! Pizza comes out fast and it's a full bar with plenty of seating

Yelp
Lovely little gem. The food was delicious, very family friendly. Loved the food and beer. Little planes talking off and landing. I brought my dog and met family here. 10/10 would do it again.

Yelp
We had a great time here for my husbands Christmas party. We had never been and were excited to try a new place in Columbia. The idea of using an old airport hangar is amazing, I love repurposing of old buildings. The party was hosted in the private section of the restaurant, we had great service at the bar. My husband specifically loves one beer so he was a bit disappointed but he loved his mixed drink. He said that this is one of the only places where the bartender makes his favorite correctly. I loved the wine selection and enjoyed my sangria. The homemade pizza was delicious! It had a great tasting crust and sauce! We loved the pizza. The atmosphere was great, we loved the decor and especially how pretty it was for the Christmas holiday. We definitely will be visiting again!

Yelp
This place is SO cool! It's in an old airplane hangar so the building is huge with lots of space and super bright and airy. It's the perfect place for big groups and plenty of babies were there too. They have about 15 beers on tap with the options to do a flight of 4. I did a flight and the bartenders were super nice and helpful with making choices. I even tapped a keg, but she let me try it before she said I had to choose a different beer. There's also a good food menu too! We ordered pepperoni pizza and garlic knots. The knots were a little different because they tasted sweet. I've never had sweet garlic knots, but the bread was still yummy just not my favorite flavor. The pizza was SO good! Perfect for sharing while drinking delicious beer! I'm hoping to visit again because this place is just the coolest!

Yelp
The brewery facility itself is incredible with its perfect use of the space. Both outdoor and indoor. It's not every day that you can have a beer inside an airplane hangar. On top of that, the A/C inside on a hot day is a nice touch. Beer- I was expecting more from the oldest brewery in Columbia. It was decent, it did the trick but it was ultimately forgettable. I wasn't clamoring to get more or get any to go. Food- be careful what you order. Their take on margherita pizza is criminal . It was basically a cheese pizza with not enough cheese and the basil was sprinkled on top. However the sausage and peppers pizza was really good and so was the garlic knots. It wasn't a total loss for sure. I would give this place 3.5 as 3 is not representative of my experience but I also didn't leave feeling like it was a 4 either.

Yelp
PROS: - Variety on tap - Cool building on the Historic Register - Ample seating - Quick service - Available for private events - Hummus with crostini was packed with flavor CONS: - Going on the weekend meant three kids' birthday parties at the same time and a lot of screaming, running around, and whistle-screeching. This heavily impacted the atmosphere, so I removed a star for lack of relaxation - Mushroom pizza was a bit bland - Location is a bit far from other attractions - Parking can be limited OVERALL: - May try again on a weeknight for a more chill vibe

Yelp
Food was very good, had the pizza, service was outstanding and the beer was very good. I had the golden ale. The place is in an old airplane hanger and has a great layout. Very cool place and look forward to going back.

Yelp
What an awesome venue. I brought my father in law here as he is a retired pilot and he loved it. Great pizza, ipa's, ales, and sours. It was an awesome spot to hang out. You can even see the planes taking off nearby. The service was good. Indoor seating downstairs and outdoor seating upstairs.

Yelp
God bless the H&G for being there for your tired, thirsty loyal patrons. We're so glad you keep your kitchen open until 9pm on Saturdays after USC football games. Still our favorite brewery since the 90's. Yum yummy pizza slices- bring back your white pizza and you will see us bump you to five stars. It was my fuel in college.

Yelp
We stopped here for lunch passing through on a road trip. This place is great! The hanger is a huge space with lots of different areas to spread out. There's also an upstairs seating area where you can watch the planes come and go! We sat outside with our two dogs. They were extremely dog friendly and had water bowls ready for the pups. My boyfriend had the hazy IPA which he said was great. I appreciated that they had a full bar since I'm not too big on beer. We ordered a meat lovers pizza. It came out super quick and was perfectly cooked. Hot and cheesy with a nice crispy crust. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. I bet this place is a hot spot for the locals. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I saved this brewery for last due to the food looked so damn good and I'm SO glad I did! Their pizza is outta this world!!! So cheesy and delicious and I would for sure go back! It's a pretty cool location with airplanes taking off and landing while you eat and drink. Great idea! They've got a pretty good selection of beers, not a crazy amount, but definitely at least a couple for everyone to like. The sitting inside was a little odd but they made it work. For sure try the pizza though!

Yelp
Love the Hunter Gatherer brewery near local Columbia airport. It is in an old airplane hangar so cool setting and great selection of microbrew beers on tap. Excellent food as well - definitely try the pizza and salads. Attentive staff, and dog friendly.

Yelp
Fun place to come with the dogs. Good atmosphere. Great drinks and pizza. Open 7 days a week. Give them a try!

Yelp
I enjoyed coming here for a quick bite and some drinks! Husband tried out the special of the day while I decided to get a margarita because why not? Even husband agreed the margarita was the one we lucked out on because it was so delicious! The beer he choose he did enjoy along with the pretzel that was ordered. It was a gloomy and rainy day when we headed here while it was a neat experience seeing and hearing the pouring rain with thunderstorms outside The best part was sharing it with our puppy we love bringing him to breweries that are dog friendly. Ollie (pup) was even able to sit inside with us ! Will be back for more beer tasting and a good margarita!
google avatar

Kate H.

Yelp
Cool building with nice outdoor space. I was looking forward to the pizza but they were not offering it the day I went. We ended up getting garlic knots that were pretty good but at $9 I probably wouldn't order again. It was dog friendly which is always a bonus.
google avatar

Yelp
Do you like Pizza? Like a dog friendly indoor restaurant? Do you like micro brewed beer? Yeah, I know..... TRIFECTA!!! Hit this spot and enjoy what I experienced. Unique, refurbished what looks to be an old manufacturing facility with cold storage. Nicely remodeled into a quaint eatery. Bring the pooch and give it a shot!
google avatar

Yelp
Forgot to take a picture of my pizza, I apologize in advance! But GET THE MUSHROOM PIZZA! So cheesy and gooey and amazing!! This place is awesome. I got an IPA and we sat outside in the sunshine. There is cornhole and a big indoor and outdoor space for plenty of room for kids/adults to play. Food came out fast and hot!

Yelp
This is a really cool restaurant all in all. I do have three really big problems with it, but I'd recommend for anyone to give this place a shot. Yes. It's literally in a hanger and there's lights everywhere. That gets some serious cool points. The bar drinks and some of the food has airplane names which is pretty cool with the theme. Let's get to these negatives: (1) I wasn't going to say this because of Covid and them being short staff this night, but there's a lot of people on Yelp talking about this so I will too. The service is the slowest service I've ever had in my life. I ordered a Cider at 5:30 PM and did not get it until 6:00 PM. That's pretty crazy to just get a bottle of beer. That's just not acceptable. If I wasn't waiting on people I would have just gotten up and left. (2) Chips and Salsa. I have a big problem with this one because of how the restaraunt looks and acts. The chips for the chips and salsa are straight up Tostitos. Paying seven dollars for chips and salsa with them being Tostito's isn't cool. (3) Their menu stinks. Their whole menu is pizza/salad. Where's a chicken sandwich? Where's a burger option? There's just bar pizza and salad. I hated giving this place a (3/5) because the potential is outrageous. The pizza is pretty good as well and you can tell they use high quality ingredients. They just need to get some more staff, upgrade those chips, and upgrade that menu. There's so much you can do with that menu and it's not being utilized.

Kristen F.

Yelp
Pizza good. Nice to be outside. Beer line was long. Very casual which is nice. Great variety of beers. Good place to enjoy the outdoors. Upstairs has a great view.

Yelp
What a great brewery in Columbia! I've been a fan of Hunter Gatherer since my college days at USC. I went there frequently and that was before breweries were everywhere. This new and huge brewery blows it out of the water! Awesome food and brews. I love that the Rosewood area by the private airport has such a fabulous and fun place to socialize!

Yelp
So i drank and ate really quickly so, oops, not many photos. Staff was super friendly, the airplane hangar ambience is a great vibe. I'm excited to bring my dogs when we come back. Items tried: pretzel- is really pizza dough twisted like a pretzel- super yummy, vegan pizza- delicious!!!!, bbq sandwhich with tomato bbq sauce- good good, regular cider (apple, not the blood orange)- so good, lemonade- two thumbs up. We will be back.

Yelp
Man, makes me so sad to write this. We used to LOVE this place. We would come up at least once a week, make it the destination for out of town family and friends, knew the staff by name, etc. I don't know what happened around 6 to 9 months ago, but they simply cannot cook a pizza here. I've talked to the manager, servers, cashiers, just asking them to please not send out an undercooked doughy pizza. But every time, that's what I get. I give up. Bring back the awesome well cooked pizzas and I'll start coming back. But can't take the disappointment anymore. Beer is still good!

Yelp
What a hidden gem in Columbia, I've heard so many wonderful things about Hunter Gatherer Brewery! So finally we decided to give them a try. Parking is no issue, you can dine inside and outside. They do have a rooftop but it was closed at the time. Greeted by friendly staff and we were seated promptly. Very clean and plenty room for accommodating large parties. Big dog friendly is a huge bonus for some! Also its in a great location, outside of the city. The menu has enough for all to choose from. Our order was taken in a timely manner from our friendly host. I was actually surprised on how well the food tasted! My spouse got the meatball sub, he stated it was tasty and he would order it again. Great place to meet up with friends, relax and chill in a laid back environment.

Yelp
Great night out at Hunter Gatherer! Live band, amazing pizza. I ordered the Taco pizza and it was so yummy. The place was packed while we were there so it was a lot of fun. Beautiful upper deck seating was just what the perfect day called for! There was a huge family reunion going on downstairs but you could still hear the live music going on all over the place. The beer selection is the only reason for the 4 stars. They have no liquor and no sour beers. Really sad. My SO is huge into Stouts and ordered the '100 Stout"..it was as pale as bud light lime. He was really disappointed. Needless to say..we come here for the relaxation and the pizza! :)

Yelp
Great place went with a group no problem sitting us all together had the pizza, nachos, very good tried several of the beers. Also very good. Great place to take a large group

Yelp
Cool spot! This is the second time we have been here. We were happy both times ! My husband is a huge fan of IPAs and coming from CA he hasn't found something to compare it too - but was extremely happy with the selection! And a huge bonus is they are dog friendly !

Yelp
First off this is a pretty cool place to eat. It's an old vintage B-52 bomber hanger! The atmosphere is sweet too. We chose to eat outside and loved it. The staff was friendly and service was great. To start off we got the beer cheese and chips. The cheese tasted very good. Loved the flavor. For our main meal we got the taco pizza and the BBQ pizza. The taco pizza actually tasted like you were eating a taco, it was amazing. It Had a little kick to it but it was just right. The BBQ pizza was also good. The mustard based bbq went well with the crust. Defiantly a must try. Last but not least lol....the beer was great too. Good selection. If you like IPA get the hazy!! Love it.

Yelp
By far. the best brewery pizza I've ever had! While grabbing some great beers and pizza, enjoy watching airplanes takeoff and land. It's a great atmosphere all around!!

Yelp
The atmosphere - in a big ol' airplane hanger (!) - and vibe here are really cool, with a comfortable layout tailor made for big groups as well as semi-intimate encounters. Also, the food and drinks are much better than I expected, especially the former. However, the service I received here was subpar. And given that the opposite was the case at the other HG location, I find this sad. I'm not talking about the waitstaff - they were very good at their jobs. But the bar staff were very dismissive of me. It felt racial, as other non-Black people were being served and acknowledged quickly, but I was left waiting as if I needed to beg for a drink. Frankly, if I wasn't there with other people, I would have left as it happened twice in one afternoon. I'm not sure whether I want to return. Guess after the pandemic, we will see.
google avatar

Jane H.

Yelp
Marci Gras fest brought us here but the views and food will keep us coming back! I loved the open concept of the airport hanger and the options of indoor or outdoor seating. We started off indoors so we could eat without my daughters complaining to much about the heat. I ordered the smoked pulled pork sandwiches and pizza for my daughters. My sandwiches were delicious and the pizza was a hit for my daughters (fresh ingredients were used). One thing that really stood out the most to me was the hospitality. It was jam packed that day due to the Mardi Gras event but we didn't wait long at all for food and drinks. I'm not much of a beer drinker and it was a mom/daughter day out so Hubby wasn't there to attest to the beer selection. However I'll certainly be going back to get the full brewery experience!
google avatar

Eric M.

Yelp
Whoa! What a unique and memorable dining experience! On a recent trip to Columbia, my wife and I headed out to try the Hunter Gatherer Brewery at Curtiss Wright. Being a huge aircraft aficionado, the idea of checking out an old airport hangar transformed into a brewery intrigued me. The inside of this facility is modern and bright. We were promptly greeted and shown a table. Our server, Caroline, was top-notch. We ordered the BBQ Sliders, the Mezze Plate (with hummus) and a sausage and pepper pizza. The portions were perfectly sized and everything was delicious. The leftover pizza didn't last long once we got it back home. We will definitely be coming back here when we find ourselves in the area.

Yelp
This location has been open for quite a while, but I haven't made it over there. We went in on a weeknight for a few pizzas and drinks. We were so happy we did! This place is really cool and interesting. The inside is very industrial chic, and it's fun to watch the brewers at work. On the night we were there, there was a band playing inside and that was cool. We each tried a beer to start with, and then I switched over to wine. They pour lots of very decent wine brands by the glass, and they keep it simple. For dinner, we each ordered a pizza. I had a pepperoni pizza, and my SO had a Sausage and Pepper pizza. My pepperoni pizza was amazing. I really enjoyed the spicy pepperoni that they source specially from North Carolina. My SO enjoyed his sausage pizza, but we both agreed mine was better (wink wink). One pizza at Hunter Gatherer is enough for two to share as a snack or one person to have as a meal if you're very hungry. The atmosphere at Hunter Gatherer is fun and cool, unpretentious, and laid back. The service is wonderful and the food is delightful. They serve beer and wine only, but they have an awesome selection and I like that you aren't overwhelmed by choices. This is a great place to bring the whole family or for date night. We really enjoyed Hunterer Gatherer and will definitely be back. If you haven't been, GO!

Yelp
First off, let me say that this place is just plain COOL. The old hangar gives this brewery a unique atmosphere; the high ceilings make the space feel very open and it has that indoors-but-outdoors kinda vibe that is perfect on a nice, sunny day when they have the big door open. You also kind of feel like you are removed from the rest of society in a relaxing kind of way. The menu is condensed into one page of appetizers, pizzas, and sandwiches/salads. It was elevated bar food. My friend and I split the flatbread mezze plate and each got the Greek salad with chicken. The appetizer and salads were good, but if I came back, I would try one of their pizzas and the beer cheese dip (it sounded so good!!). Okay time for the main course: the brews. My friend and I both got flights. I enjoyed the Raspberry Sour 101 the most. I really wanted to like the Ye Olde Bastarde with Cocoa Nibs but had a hard time finding the hint of cocoa that I so desperately wanted. Maybe my taste buds were overloaded from the brewery that we went to before this one, so not ruling it out completely. Would I come to the Hangar again? Yes, definitely. If not for the brews, then for the family of beagles that we got to pet as we walked in.

Built inside an old airplane hanger this brewery is really good for after work gatherings and the beer and eats here are great. My 1st thing i lpok for in the menu are ciders cause i love a great cider with that crisp and not too sweet taste with a great burger or pretzel. They had crossed off the cider off the board nefore we arrived but after 1 beer later they put it back on tap and that made my afternoon Pizzas, pretzels typical beer addon favs to enjoy they cook in site which i find convient cause some brewery joints dont serve food. Ill be back for great service from the staff and a cool spot to have some cold ones and hangout. Its located in the industrial section of town bit your GPS will get you there and parking is plenty

Yelp
Amazing! So we actually went to BOTH Hunter Gatherer locations back to back today! The vibe and menu is VERY different at each location. This location is more what we were looking for and was perfect for our toddlers to play while we enjoyed great food and drinks! It's literally an airplane hanger turned into a restaurant, SO COOL! Staff was incredible, especially since you could tell they were very short staffed (who isn't these days). The pretzel was perfectly soft and amazing but wasn't impressed with the beer cheese to dip. The pizza was EXACTLY what you're looking for, so good!

Yelp
Went here for the first time Friday night with another couple. Got there about 6:15PM and asked the woman working behind the bar how things worked..she said just take a seat anywhere, you order at the bar and they'll bring the food out. We took a seat at a large booth and then ordered back at the bar. Menu is mainly pizzas, salads, and several appetizers (hummus with crostini, pretzel with mustard, spicy whole grain mustard and their homemade beer cheese dip, some tortilla chips with dips, meat and cheese trays...good selections). My wife and I ordered the pretzel and the hangar salad along with the 11 inch pepperoni pizza. Our friends ordered the hummus, 11 inch margarita pizza and the pretzel. My wife ordered a chardonnay and I tried a flight of four beers....Kubaba (Pomegranite), Hazy IPA, another IPA, and a pale ale. The pretzel was very good except they serve you the dipping sauces in very small metal cups. Our friends asked for another cup of the beer cheese (which is the best). We would've liked to have had another cup of the beer cheese but didn't ask. They really should serve a little more of the beer cheese, but I guess rather than wasting it they can give it to you if you ask. Our friends thought the spicy dijon was way too spicy. My wife and I liked it. The regular mustard was just a plain yellow mustard. The hummus was very good, sort of had a refreshing lemon taste. The crustini was toasted a bit too crisp, but was good. We like our crostini crispy, but not as dark as their crostini was. Our friend was worried about it chipping a tooth! Our pizza was great. The waitress at the bar recommended the pizza, along with another couple ordering at the bar. Great crust, crisp, and the pepperoni was excellent tasting. I'd order it again. I definitely did not like the hazy IPA. The kebab was refreshing. I was hesitant to order a pomegranate beer, but on a hot summer day I did find it refreshing. I guess my favorite was the pale ale, but I'm to a beer specialist anymore since moving away from Wisconsin! The Hangar salad was good, fresh, with ricotta cheese and a oil/vinegar type dressing. Menu said parmesan crusted croutons but they just looked like regular store bought croutons to me...nothing special. Atmosphere is good, quite unique since you're in a microbrewery. Seating outside and also seating on the roof with live music scheduled for Saturday. I'd go back for the pizza.

Yelp
Stopped by for Happy Hour with the Yelp squad and had a blast! It was my first time at HG, and i tried their NCAAze New England IPA! Really good, juicy with a bit of bitterness, but very enjoyable. Also tasted the pepperoni and margherjta pies... delicious! Give them a try, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Update: I did go back. They are still not the friendliest place to go. Not even close. The Pizza was great. The cheese dip ok. The beers where fair. If they where more friends I would maybe go back. But borderline rude I don't think so. Very cool place. The beers where just ok. They aren't the friendliest people but not rude either. Just don't smile. There internet was down I had to pay cash. Maybe thats why. The food was good. Restrooms were clean. The rooftop area was cool. Would I go back? Yes, maybe they were just having a bad day. It is a really cool place. They aren't open all the time so make sure you check before go

Yelp
I've been going for a while and it's always been great but the last two times, not great at all. The last time I went, about two weeks ago the pepperoni pizza was awful. My wife's pizza was awful also. The sauce was totally different than ever before and had an over abundance of garlic. We will probably give it a while and then try again. If it's the same as it has been recently though we won't be back. I used to highly recommend this place, but lately I can't recommend it at all
