Hunter House Hamburgers - Review - Chicago - The Infatuation

"Hunter House has long been a favorite for sliders in suburban Birmingham, MI, which is about 35 minutes outside of Ann Arbor. So it makes sense they got around to opening a second spot here. Think White Castle, but family run instead of corporate chain. Two double cheeseburgers with chili cheese fries, just saying. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Pretty solid burger, simple and well executed. Fries could have been good as well but were completely unsalted. I would have salted them myself, but I ordered carryout to take back to work and that's were my real issue arose. I don't get a very long lunch break, so I made sure to order early enough that I could grab my food and go. Unfortunately, when I arrived I found they hadn't even started on my order. The place was empty aside from a couple already eating, so really no reason why they didn't even start. I ended up being a bit late which was embarrassing and I'm probably gonna think about that when deciding where to eat next time. From the other reviews it seems they've built up a good reputation and are now happy to coast and let their staff do whatever they want. Fine if it works for them I guess. I'm sure they already know there's plenty of good food in Ann Arbor.

Friendly staff, nice environment, convenient location in downtown Ann Arbor. The food, however, is just so-so, and the prices are way too high for what you get. They do grilled onions. That's a good thing. I'd say the cheese burger is slightly larger than a White Castle. I think the pickles outweighed the meat. So, I paid $2.35 for a bite size burger. Sorry, but if they advertised sliders at a more reasonable price, they might get a 4 star from me. But, they call that little thing a cheese burger, and it's nothing special. I would give the burger and the fries 3 stars and the high prices bring my rating down to a 2.

I go here every time I'm in Ann arbor and I love it every time. On my most recent visit however, there was a waitress there who was very unpleasant. The chef was very kind and I think he knew she was being unpleasant as well. The food tasted great but the shakes were more of a thick chocolate milk. Very frothy. Still tasty..

As an fyi for those who’ve never visited, the burgers are about slider size. They seem cheap, but average out to regular burger price when you order two or three. My entire family’s onions were burnt completely black, because the chef was talking to another customer when he was cooking, and forgot about them, I assume. Some orders were messed up, and my boyfriend’s had to be made after we’d been served because they forgot about his. His onions weren’t burnt, and it was much better tasting than my order because of that. Is this place horrible? Not in my opinion. But it’s not the best. It’s good for a somewhat quick bite. Service was also slow, unfortunately, even when there were next to no other customers. I really wanted to like this place, so if I’m in town again I may give it another shot to see if anything changes.

Food is good, high quality, very friendly staff. It's a bit on the high side for price (~$8 for the double cheese burger, large fry and a fountain drink) but it tastes darn good. It's why I always come back. Not a huge portion, they are sliders after all, but they are the right size for me. They do a lot of specials through the Hooked app, which is pretty cool too.

I love the food at this place. I normally don't do this review stuff, but I felt it necessary after my latest experience. My roommate and I ordered on grubhub and received only half our order. Not the first time they've made mistakes, and human error is expected, but this was too much. We took the order back, and explained the situation. They took complete care of us; remade the order, and let us keep the food that was already made. The customer service was amazing! Without asking, the hooked up our fries, and offered us drinks for the wait. Thank you guys so much for caring about your customers and making sure mistakes are not only corrected, but improved. Much love!

The food was what I expected for slider burgers. I'm not an onion person so this is a non-grilled onions opinion. As such, I felt the the burger to bun ratio was off. The fries were as good as they get. Atmosphere was awesome. Staff. FANTASTIC! They even turned down or skipped inappropriate songs because I had my son with me. From the moment we walked in we were welcomed and treated like family. I would definitely stop in if you like a quick meal, in a great atmosphere with a heaping side of home town friendliness.

Ordered carryout online and walked over, getting there about 10 minutes after ordering. Food wasn't ready yet - that was fine. I ended up waiting almost 20 minutes there for my food, only to find it had been finished about 15 minutes before I got it and set aside. It just didn't get to me when it was done due to poor coordination. So by the time I got it, it wasn't really fresh. The sliders were forgettable. Just tasted like greasy mush. I don't know if it's because they sat for so long or what, but they were not good. The chicken and waffle slider was good, if not really warm by the time I ate it. I'm not sure if I'd give them another try based on this experience.
