Huntington Beach & Pier – A Place Where the Ocean Breathes With You There’s something about Huntington Beach that slows you down in all the right ways. You don’t just visit this place — you feel it. It welcomes you with the scent of salt in the air, the roar of the waves in your chest, and the kind of breeze that clears the mental clutter you didn’t even realize you were carrying. The pier stands like a quiet guardian over the shoreline — steady, weathered, and deeply symbolic. Walking it is like stepping into a moment that stretches. You look out and see surfers below carving into the Pacific like dancers, pelicans gliding low, and beyond that — nothing but horizon. It’s where you go when you need to remember how big the world is, and how small your worries really are. There’s life all around: local artists, skaters, fishermen, musicians, people falling in love with the view, or just with each other. It’s unpolished in the best way — real, lived-in, vibrant. The waves crash with purpose here. And whether you’re barefoot in the sand or leaning against the railing with a cup of coffee and a moment to yourself, it feels like the ocean is having a quiet conversation with your soul. Sunset? That’s a whole ceremony. The sky turns into melted copper and firelight, and the pier casts this long, graceful shadow into the water like it’s bowing to the day. If you’re lucky enough to be there when it happens, just stop. Watch. Breathe. It’s the kind of moment you remember — the kind that heals without saying a word. Final Thoughts Huntington Beach isn’t just a surf town or a tourist stop. It’s a feeling — one of freedom, depth, and lightness all at once. The pier is its heartbeat. And whether you come here to walk, reflect, surf, or just exist for a while with no expectations, this place has a way of giving you exactly what you didn’t know you needed. This isn’t just a beach — it’s a sanctuary. And for me, it’s one I’ll keep returning to.

The Huntington Beach Pier is a delightful spot to relax and take in the breathtaking views of the sunset. As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky transforms into a canvas of vibrant oranges and purples, casting a warm glow over the surrounding ocean. This iconic pier, which once surrendered to the fury of a storm in 1988, has been lovingly rebuilt and stands as a testament to resilience, providing a perfect backdrop for evening strolls and memorable moments by the sea.

Google
The world class pier in America. Surf City USA. People watch, fish, see famous surfers or grab seafood at restaurant on end of pier. Bike parking below and Duke’s restaurant at beginning of pier.

Always a beautiful place and full of people, it changes all the time because surfing city, 1 one place to an that you only see once in a lifetime opportunities but if you live close by you, gotta enjoy it every single day., if not I definitely recommend this

Yelp
Been a while since we've been to this pier in 'Surf City, USA'. Even in January, the pier and the shops around it were bustling with tourists, locals, vendors, and fisherman. We took a slow leisurely stroll all the way to end and back (1800 feet in length), admiring the sights. There are plenty of benches facing both directions, and is a good place to admire all of the surfers waiting to catch their next big wave. There is a pier in most beach towns across the California Coast, and this one is big enough to host a building at the very end. For about a year and a half, it has been the Broad Street Oyster Company, a full sit-down restaurant. Prior, it had been the location of Ruby's Diner for 25 years until it closed in 2021.

Yelp
Any day of the year can be this beautiful in Surf City. There is an amazing swell on the North side, hundreds of surfers waiting for their chance. They are all ages and shapes and sizes. The sun is shining the children are laughing and playing! Gramps is keeping an eye on things!

Yelp
Huntington Beach Pier is absolutely breathtaking! This iconic destination is a must-visit, offering stunning ocean views, a vibrant atmosphere, and delicious seafood options. Perfect for surfing, beach volleyball, and leisurely strolls, the pier is fantastic for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. The sunset views are truly unforgettable, making it an unforgettable California experience! I always go to enjoy a nice bonfire and to unwind from a long day.

Yelp
HBP is located in Huntington Beach, California, at the west end of Main Street and west of Pacific Coast Highway. Let's talk about stats: At 1,850 feet (560 m) in length, it is one of the longest public piers on the West Coast. One of the main landmarks of Huntington Beach, also known as "Surf City, USA", the pier is the center of the city's prominent beach culture. Also, this is a mecca of beach volleyball. It's a great landmark for tourist and locals to visit. It has plenty of souvenir shops, restaurants and bike rentals. Public Parking lots ($3/hr) available but it gets full pretty quickly. Overall, it's a great touristy spot to chill and hangout at the beach.

Yelp
Huntington Beach is one of my favorite beaches to visit in the summer. There are so many options for places to hang out because the beach is like 10 miles long. I usually park near Huntington Beach Pier because I like checking out some of the shops in the downtown area. They also have the Artisan Fair going on right next to the pier on certain days. The pier makes for a nice stroll if you want to enjoy some fresh ocean air. Even though I don't surf, I do enjoy watching surfers catch some waves near the pier. Huntington Beach Pier has been rebuilt a couple of times due to storms. It is close to 2,000 feet long. There are a few shops on the pier that sell Huntington Beach beach gear and clothing. There are also a few restaurants near the start of the pier like Duke's and Sandy Beach Shack. Broad Street Oyster Company is at the end of the pier and offers gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean. The pier opens from 5am to midnight and is free to walk on. It is a great spot to take some photos at sunrise or sundown. Huntington Beach Pier is the perfect place to enjoy some ocean breeze and beautiful views if you don't want to walk on the sand or deal with the crowed beach areas.

Roselia G.

Yelp
This is the widest and most happening pier in Orange County. The 4th of July fireworks happen here, there's lots of fishing, a couple shops, and a restaurant at the very end. Also, every year the US Open of Surfing is held right next to this pier, and almost every Friday, along with some weekends, the Surf City Artisan Fair goes on at the pier plaza from 10am-6pm with lots of great artists and venders. You could also end up seeing some dolphins swim by, or seals, as we saw today. Then there's Downtown Huntington's Main Street that runs straight off the pier. There is so much to do and see here, and always fun!

Yelp
HB is so beautiful my relatives always chastised me for not appreciating what was in front of me instead of flying all over the world, well it's more complicated than that. The biggest difference is the ocean water, at the warmest time which is around Labor Day, it's 69F to 70F, it's too cold for me, it's even cold for sunbathing. You see me w winter coat on the pier. Now i have seen it all after globetrotting 6,8x a year I'm returning to my roots hanging out on the pier, I used to bring my camera w 50x zoom, tripod and telescope to watch the moon n took magnificent pictures of the super moon, eclipse etc..I hardly see anybody swimming in the ocean, I only saw surfers as HB is known as Surf City n they filmed a few episodes of BAYWATCH here. Ahnuld was here to campaign but I was at work that day. HB is that famous, I often talked to tourists who said I was lucky to live here. There's 1 thing though, you can't walk to the beach, from my sister townhouse, we are scared to cross the PCH it's dangerous that's why I'm going to Cabo, you can walk to the beach in 5 min, no street, no traffic. I feel blessed just stand on the pier to inhale the salty fragrant air, all the oxygen for my lungs, I feel sad for the rest of the country suffering through sand storms, flood, hurricanes n tornados, my parents used to live in El Paso so I went through all that, we moved here n never looked back. I like Yelp n I provide so much content for Yelpies to enjoy as much as i appreciate Yelp, I don't understand why the Yelp cops seem to turn into IG fact checkers (by the way IG stopped factchecking everybody n me after Zuck got interrogated in congress) I just got slapped down for supposedly posting personal pictures, Yelp if u read this review, if you accuse me of sthg it's ok you own this platform but please attach the offending picture it's only fair to expect to know what I did wrong, if u have a policy of not allowing selfies LET ME KNOW. I'll post them on Trip Advisor instead. TYVM for letting me know what I did wrong. I put a lot of work in writing my review i think it's fair to request to see the offending picture I got slapped down for. I have been to all the piers in USA, there are not many piers in the world, the HB Pier is one of the best or maybe it's the best bc it has a restaurant n 3 souvenir shops. Come visit HB, you'll be delighted w all the bars n eateries on Main street n shopping in Pacific City. Every year unique to HB Pier you can watch the US Open of surfing in August n air show in October.

Yelp
I love piers and this one is fun as lively with fishermen and women and tons of kids running around There is a restaurant at the end of the pier where they serve lobster rolls! You can see Long Beach and all the boats waiting at sea. It's definitely picture worthy!!

Yelp
One of the best Piers in OC Very clean I recommend it to all Many good restaurants and shopping places around

Yelp
Returning here for the last 5 x in a week . One of our favorite beach , easy parking access , either on the lot on on the streets . On the streets is metered parking and usually some space available before 1 pm on weekends . The pier parking lot fills up very quickly so before noon is best . Make sure to monitor your parking meters , my time expires 30 minutes later and I received a ticket on my window for $51 ;(

Franklin C.

Yelp
Just love this beach with surf city vibes. Lots of mother market n events happen here.

Norman R.

Yelp
Location, location, location! Huntington Beach Pier is a great site to behold, and offers delicious treats as well as people watching, while surfers ride the waves in the background. The vibe is totally California, and tourist are in total ahh over the waves, blue ocean, sandy beach, and the king palms swaying in the breeze. And if the beach is not your thing, there are numerous shops, restaurants, shops, and the like to explore along the coast. Great time!

Nick P.

Yelp
HB Pier has been a local favorite of ours. We live about 15 minutes away locally and frequent this pier a couple times a week. Its one of the best parts of living in SoCal. Parking is easy to find. We prefer parking a few blocks away from the pier in the residential area. It's always free and you get to be as close to Main St. as possible. Main is a lot of fun. There's a lot of fun restaurants and shops for you to browse. This iconic pier is made out of concrete and is big enough to accommodate large crowds. We love that its very pet friendly out here and the vibes are just great. We personally love walking the pier and picking up a large pitaya bowl from Banzai Bowl to share at the end of our trip.

DeLayne B.

Yelp
Such a beautiful day at the beach! The waves were epic and I couldn't resist walking downtown and checking them out and having some lunch with my best friend! Beach life is the best. Happy New Year!!!

Vivian C.

Yelp
Huntington Beach Pier is always active, fun and surrounded by locals and visitors. As locals I feel so happy that i can go here anytime. Across Pacific Coast Highway on Main Street there are a number of casual restaurants and bars with live music and televised sporting events. One block south of Main Street on Pacific Coast Highway is a shopping mall with fine dining restaurants which are located next to ocean front resort hotels with spectacular views from patio bars and nightlife entertainment. Surfing, bike riding, shopping and eating. The sunsets are gloriously red and the colors glow as the sun drops. Fridays are the day for markets selling art, jewelry and other items. The beach volleyball courts were filled the whole time we were there. Great games fun to watch. Loved walking along the pier. There was a magician, violinist, guitar player, drummer, and folk band just to name a few. Enjoyed just sitting and relaxing the only bad thing I can say is the restroom weren't the cleanest . The immediate area has plenty of garages, lot's and metered parking available. The nearest prepaid lot (beside the pier's south side) was charging $3.00 per hour on weekdays.

Janae P.

Yelp
I love that its right down the street. I don't have to take the freeway coming from the Disney area. Parking is always an issue. So get there early!

Darius G.

Yelp
Beautiful sunset. The atmosphere and the surrounding area is well balanced between businesses and preservation of nature

Adri R.

Yelp
Known to many as surf city. The Hunting Beach pier offers some incredible scenic views. Just steps away from the downtown area that is filled with shoppes, restaurants and hotels. Parking can be a bit tricky. But it's we'll work making a stop. There's always some type of event on the beach.

Logan C.

Yelp
It's pure Heaven:) I walk 75 yards and im there. Walk across the street for a glass of wine with friends and meet new acquaintances . Sit on my porch and people watch passerby's. Huntington Beach is a chosen pearl by the sea:)

Janelle F.

Yelp
Holy massive amount of people. Summer time is not the time to find easy parking or chill on the pier lol. Great views, people fishing, boats and so many people because everyone wants to be on the pier. Grady photo ops for sure, but be prepared peri os also where the main hub for shipping and beautiful cars cruising Main St.

Michael B.

Yelp
LOOKS PRETTY NEW ! My wife and I were up this way on Sunday for a bike ride along the boardwalk. We rode past this pier which didn't look beat up like most beach front piers ! NOTE - Of course with over 22 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics world wide in 2022 I can tell you what is great !

Andrew W.

Yelp
First time visiting this beautiful beach and pier!! It's very familiar not because I came here before but because of the movies The weather was so good and really nice ocean breeze with beautiful scenery! Nice look out for surfing ‍ Although I was there for only a short time I enjoyed my time there! Definitely recommended to visit at least once in your life Parking spot for the area was $15 so be aware of it! Cheers

Lisa S.

Yelp
I'm not really sure what would make this pier better. Some have more food or restaurants along the sides or at the end, but I feel like that makes the aesthetic cluttered. Also, the food is usually not great and overpriced anyway. It's a beautiful walk down to the end, and it's entertaining to watch the surfers and people along the beach. I haven't been out in quite a while, and I forgot how calming the waves are and how nice it is to take a stroll around the area. It's a wonderful place to bring guests from out of town as well.

Cody B.

Yelp
Very clean Pier. Good shops. Volleyball courts are nice. Overall, fun place to visit.

Gustavo E.

Yelp
A great place to come by and watch the sun set :) . The views are breathtaking when the skies are clear and it always helps to come by and just walk around and soak in the atmosphere.

Mojdeh S.

Yelp
The piers of Southern California are pretty unique, though they resemble each other, and are unlike the piers seen in other parts of the west coast. We love the Sandy beaches, the looooong piers stretching out into the ocean and the endless views. The red top to the Huntington Beach Pier gazebo is a novel addition, both for the spark of color, as well as the cover provided from sun/rain.

My W.

Yelp
This is why a 1 bedroom apartment is $3k/ month. It's surf city. Good waves. Good food. Lots of people. This is what surf movies are made of.

Kat B.

Yelp
This is an excellent pier that brings so many people from all over the world together. Everyone has their own journey, and it's brought them to this place. There's not much to do here, but it offers the simple natural views of the ocean, sky and sunset. Try to find FREE parking within the neighborhood streets and be respectful of the residents. Walking to the pier along the cement next to the sand offers you an relaxing vibes. Best of all, you can enjoy the sights and sounds.

Jenni M.

Yelp
Huntington Beach Pier is one of my favorites in Southern California. It's listed in the National Register of Historic Places for so many good reasons. It was such a beautiful day during my most recent visit on 4/16/22. Quite breezy especially at the end of the pier. A few kite flyers on the beach took advantage of the wind. The beach, pier and surrounded area were for the most part clear of trash and debris. It usually is well-maintained when I'm here, hence, a big reason for my five star rating. Probably 50% of the folks who knew HBP before Ruby's Diner went MIA say it isn't the same without it, but just imagine what it would be like without surfing and beach volleyball... I'm just saying! There are plenty of eateries - upscale and casual - within walking distance. Street parking and a few lots that take credit card... like $2 per hour. Welcome to Surf City USA!

Maruko X.

Yelp
This pier is a municipal pier located in Huntington Beach, and it's located at the west end of Main Street and west of Pacific Coast Highway. it is one of the longest public piers on the west coast, beautiful views during a crystal clear day and sunset time.

Katherine J L.

Yelp
The pier has gotten so much busier. Makes sense though cuz of all the new restaurants and retail stores that have been built around this beautiful beach. Definitely one of my favorites beaches and will forever give me hometown nostalgia. A must.

Lizelle P.

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday evening for a walk on the pier at Sunset and it did not disappoint. The sunset was beautiful, and so we're the pics with the palm trees in the background. Lovely to people watch and glance at the surfers waiting patiently to catch their waves. There are street performers which was entertaining to the kids. Across the street was a farmers market which is apparently a Tuesday evening thing. Pleasant evening walking around.

Padma A.

Yelp
Nice beach beautiful pier and restaurants in the area ... we spent a whole afternoon here despite rainy weather. I most certainly will come back!

S S.

Yelp
yeah, it's cool. It brings back memories. It looks great unless you see a gang of blue hair and pink hair Democrats then your day is blown.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Such a great place to chill, people watch, eat and be merry!!! Come alone, with friends, on a date, whatever just come.

Jane C.

Yelp
A pretty Place to take photos of the pier or just the scenery. I was there and catching the breeze. But It has a trial run of big bird flying on a Saturday. I had no clue when I arrived, but I am glad I stay around and tools some photos of the surrounding areas. Locale people here are extremely friendly and easily to engaging in conversation and learns about the events.

Nicole C.

Yelp
Beautiful beach with clean sand and clear water. Perfect for a relaxing day or fun activities with family and friends.

Linh Y.

Yelp
A couple weeks ago, some dear friends of mine and I went to the 2022 Van's Open at Huntington Beach (HB). What an exciting and festive venue! Tons of people at the event. Lots of games and freebies offered by various businesses. We got a chance to win a bandana just by playing ski ball-like. We didn't get to watch the skateboarding or biking twisty flips and all though... but that's okay. We got a chance to hang out together and that's what mattered most. I know this review is supposed to be for HB. Why are we talking about Van's Open? Well, it's because it was held at HB LOL. Alright, here we go... I live a distance from HB so I don't get to it much if at all, but that's no excuse. However, I did get a chance to visit it more often when I did half marathons back in the days... I'm not even a runner, but I still do them LOL. It's a beautiful beach. I love walking on the beach, but not much for laying on the beach though... maybe sitting LOL. A wish of mine is to rent a bike and ride on the beach one day... a dream yet to come true. Well, you have me convinced... where am I going before this summer ends? To the beach to ride a bike (with 3 wheels LOL). Alright, hope to see you here at HB in the flesh some time this year or whenever... it's a 365 days adventure in the waiting. Happy Beaching!

Mona K.

Yelp
The beach area is nice and okay but the rest room area is a unbelievable like you would die and not to walk inside it since you guys are charging for the parking and take a lot off money at least higher someone to clean the rest room seriously shame on the state beach to have this nasty area plz someone has to do something about it.

Walter H.

Yelp
This has been a favorite spot for many years. It's always been a great place to play volleyball and just hang out. Great place to go surfing and lay on the beach and relax. Lots of nearby parking, but as always I would recommend getting there earlier than later - as parking does fill up quickly around lunchtime.

Ghazala H.

Yelp
The Huntington Beach is one of my favorite beach to visit in summer. I like to come here before noon, a lot of parking space even on street.. it's fun to walk on pier..

Hannah N.

Yelp
HB pier is so iconic, everyone should visit here at least once. It's so lively with people, surfers, fishermen, etc. There's a Duke's and Sandy's at the beginning and a Ruby's at the end. In the middle is a little store where they have souvenirs, kites, beverages, and ice cream. I love the space on this pier, it's wide and long, which makes for a fantastic time walking by the water. Catch some world class surfers on either side too. Parking is either on the side of the pier, metered on the streets, or further away in garages on main st.

Jesse D.

Yelp
Fireworks and good times! Happy 4th! The weather was amazing and the view was even better! Great family fun in the sub!

Pilar B.

Yelp
I love visiting the HB Pier! Especially, on Friday through the weekend. There is always something cool going on here. From vendors on the side walks, entertainment, singing, dancing, Bible thumpers...you name it...lol. I like to walk along the pier itself and look at the ocean or watch people playing volleyball, flying kites, running into the water, drawing in the sand, surfing the waves and even those folks that have metal detectors in the sand...lol..kind of cool watching the folks find treasures haha! I love to people watch and enjoy the scenery. I get my cardio on walking around. It's just a vibe here. If you know, then you know!! The sunsets are very pretty and the company even better ^_^,//

Kristin Leigh M.

Yelp
Aaaahh.... the Hunting Beach Pier isn't the same without Ruby's! With Ruby's = total five stars! Which is funny.. since I probably haven't been to that Ruby's in forever.. but there's just something so iconic about it! I do love the Huntington Pier for a morning stroll. Lots of active people out and about. Quite long, so you can get a good walk in. It also photographs quite well :) 2021: 64/100

Brandye K.

Yelp
What a perfect place to be this Monday in March! It was windy enough to watch some super cool kite flyers. It was sunny and warm in the skin. The pier wasn't too crowded. The vibes were chill and there was even a dude handing out Jesus bucks in case you were feeling spiritually poor. There was buskers playing music which perfectly fit in the background. Rudy's is gone, which is the place We had breakfast in 2016 after we had gotten engaged the night before, can't wait to see the new restaurant. Definitely worth the visit.

Cristal H.

Yelp
We spent a Saturday morning/afternoon. Fishing on this pier. By far the most cleanest and beautiful piers to fish off of. They have a few stores you can buy souvenirs. They also have an amazing restaurant that has good food an Reasonably priced beer. As far as fishing, it went very well. We caught a couple fish. It was definitely a well spent Saturday on the pier.

Felipe A.

Yelp
AVP is coming to town...some restaurants and bars...nice beaches with small shopping center.

Brett J.

Yelp
If you want to see why people spend way more then any sane person should to live in CA then you need to come out the Huntington Beach pier. It was about 72, sunny, with a slight breeze and it was wonderful! My anxiety simply melted away along with all of my cares or worries... they just became insignificant and completely disappeared for a few minutes. The ocean lapping at the shore.. people sitting on the beach... and just flat out perfect weather. There are shops out on the pier, places to eat, lots of people watching, people fishing, people singing and playing music, and so on.(there was even a group of lady's playing sand volleyball!) The view was complete relaxing, enthralling, and breath taking! Nothing seemed to press on me while I was day dreaming with this lovely view. You want to know why people spend so much to live here... take a walk out on this pier on a beautiful day and you'll start thinking... maybe you'll stay too.
