Sip and Swim at These D.C. Pools With Drinks

"This postage stamp-sized rooftop pool in Logan Circle is only accessible for hotel guests (and $99 day pass holders) by day. At 6:30 p.m., the space flips, and Hush rooftop bar opens to the public (until 10 p.m. on Wednesday to Thursday and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday). Soak in the capital skyline over live music and a new Asian menu full of bao buns, Taiwanese fried chicken, cucumber salads, egg rolls, and fried rice with Chinese sausage. Classic cocktails getting the clarified milk treatment this summer include a mojito, Paloma, margarita, and more." - Tierney Plumb

Logan Circle Has a Chic New Rooftop Bar for Summery Cocktails by the Pool - Eater DC

"A new rooftop bar that serves poolside tropical cocktails, Mediterranean dips, charcuterie, and Catalan-style coca flatbreads just opened on top of a Logan Circle hotel. Hush started serving the public over Memorial Day weekend, giving the Viceroy Washington D.C. a new drinking spot with a view. Cocktails looping in local spirits include La Reina (charred pineapple Cotton & Reed rum, fino sherry, caramelized banana, chili dust) and a seasonal Green Hat Floral gin and tonic with lime, coconut water, elderflower, and orange bitters. A brief list of alfresco shared plates includes spiced nuts, boards loaded up with Italian and Spanish cured meats, and cocas built around combos like grilled peach with Serrano ham and mozzarella or roasted chicken in a charred tomato ragu with wild nettles and robiola cheese. A meze platter comes with whipped hummus, labneh, minted tabouleh, and naan. Hush opens Thursday to Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m." - Tierney Plumb

Hush Rooftop Bar at the Viceroy Washington DC is a hidden gem near Logan Circle, perfect for unwinding with stunning views of the D.C. skyline. The ambiance is chic yet relaxed, ideal for any occasion. The cocktails are top-notch, paired perfectly with delicious small bites. The pool area adds a refreshing touch, making it feel like a mini-escape in the city. Overall, Hush offers a fantastic blend of elegance and relaxation, highly recommended for great drinks, bites, and breathtaking views.

This is a nice rooftop pool and bar. Small but serviceable, if it's not too crowded dayside. Food and drinks are priced for late night lounge and not casual lunch, but you're paying for an ok view and a dip in the pool.

At the rooftop bar, weak pours, expect an Initiative 82 fee plus an automatic 25% tip on top of everything?! Plus they don't even tell you that gratuity is included.

20 minutes for a watery “old fashioned” in a plastic cup and “smoked almonds” soggy from being taken out of the fridge. Atrocious

Yelp
We LOVED this hotel! From the service we received to the room itself- everything was delightful. We did receive an upgrade due to booking with the Amex package, so that was nice. Our room had two queen beds, the deep soak tub and a walk in shower. The first night, our water didn't heat up very well but it seemed to be isolated to only that day because it was great the rest of our stay. The black out shades were amazing and now I want some of my own for my house! The room itself was very quiet (we were on the 6th floor), so every night we slept soundly. We were also able to try out room service- pretty good, and the coffee shop- meh, pass... there are better options around. We would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
This is an immaculate hotel. I came for work and had to stay for entire week (I'm still here) but my goodness - this place is gorgeous. The art that hangs on the bottom floor conveys the intangible beauty that is u due to DC. Even the set that was picked for the room has a modern day style. The rooms felt comfortable with my room having dark furniture and light boards - visually appealing. Service at the hotel is top notch, though I am biased since they upgraded me to a suite during my four day stay here. I've been a Marriot guy every time I travel because of the consistency but I'm going to be a Viceroy guy in the cities they choose to be in because of the unique flair they have. The art is what did it for me - showcasing the city and local artists. When I travel to each city for work I can't explore as much as I want; I'm in conference rooms and offices - the art here helps me connect to the city more and I feel I understand it just a tad bit better.

Yelp
I really, really wanted to love this hotel and it pains me to not give it 5 stars. I research a lot before I stay somewhere and I thought I had picked a good place, but the Viceroy fell short of my expectations in some areas. First, the hotel is in a great location. Easy to get to downtown DC, quiet neighborhood, and we felt safe even at night. Right around the block from a whole foods and CVS as well in case you need anything. Drive for entry is very small especially if there are multiple vehicles waiting for valet to either park or people to drive off with, but it works. The lobby is well appointed, cute and clean. Staff is extremely friendly. All of them and helpful. Check in wasn't too bad, but for some reason even at 6pm our room wasn't ready and I had to wait an additional 15 minutes. Not the worst thing though especially since the lobby had some good seats and a nice bathroom. Finally got our room and went up. The spa rooms are VERY spacious. Tons of room for your stuff and people. Laid out very well. The beds are true queens and very comfortable and the room has great blackout shades. We were facing the back of the hotel and it was very quiet which was nice. The linens were all very clean as were the counters and tables and stuff (both in the bathroom and the bedroom). The rug between the beds could have used a good shampooing though and the hard floors looked clean in the main areas, but around the baseboards there was a lot of lint/dust/debris. Not necessarily a big deal, but it contributes to a later problem I will mention below. The bathroom cleanliness was less than desired. On brief inspection it appeared mostly clean, but the grouts in the floor were clearly dirty, there were some smudges on the base of the toilet (and a baseboard in the bathroom) and the shower inside and around the base of the shower glass where it meets the floor was full of mold and looked visibly dirty. The grout in the shower was also moldy/meldewy. It was kinda gross, but I tried to overlook it and just touch as little as possible. The problem is that after our arrival I started sneezing and sneezing often (and hard, deep sneezes). I would sneeze even when we weren't in the room, so I assumed it was just allergies (although it was way worse at night). I don't have bad allergies so it was a little puzzling (so much so I started wondering if maybe I had COVID or something - I didn't). Interestingly, after we moved to our next hotel (preplanned for an event) and I showered and changed clothes, my sneezing stopped all together. I didn't sneeze again once during the entire last half of my trip. I know the hotel is pet friendly but I have a cat and don't usually have trouble around dogs, but I am allergic to mold. So I wonder if the mold in that bathroom was the culprit. Sadly I don't think we would choose to stay here again.

Yelp
There were some really exceptional parts of my stay and some that were not so great, so overall I'd stay my stay was average. I would probably recommend it if you're looking in the area and would prefer a trendy smaller boutique hotel over one of the big brands. The valet when I arrived was pretty rude but the valet when I checked out was on time and loaded my luggage out of my room and into the vehicle for me which I appreciated. Overall a mixed bag but generally they did well. I think the valet fare is pricey ($50 overnight) but that's just DC prices. The front desk was polite and helpful. Standard service. The room was massive and the bed was comfortable. I booked a city view king studio and the "city view" was half obscured by a building a stones throw away and the other half you'd have to crane your head to see anything else. If they didn't advertise it I wouldn't be upset with just a standard view but don't pay extra for the "city view". The studio size was great and I do recommend upgrading in that sense. The temperature controls are an issue in this hotel. I have chronic illness issues that cause me to run really warm and the hotel is about 75 degrees in the winter which was much too warm for me. I went into my room and attempted to turn the temp down to 67. I tossed and turned all night and the temperature didn't budge. I was miserable. Day 2 I came back and the room was cooled down to the right temp, then same issue - overnight it crawled back up into the 70s despite the setting remaining the same. Other folks may have been cranking the heat in their rooms but I slept pretty poorly as a result. The fan setting also doesn't move air throughout the room so the air felt stagnant. Sorry to be so picky but the right temperature makes all the difference and is my biggest pet peeve with hotels and this issue would be a dealbreaker for me to return. The bathroom was huge and the marble floor was gorgeous. The bath products were also wonderful. The shower head was quite cheap looking and dripped and didn't quite fit with the opulence of the rest of the bathroom. The art in the bathroom was also bizarre - reminiscent of 2013 tumblr posts, a stark contrast to the hotels otherwise trendy and more mature pieces. I ordered room service the first night and after waiting over an hour the manager called to tell me they could not complete the order because they hadn't gotten my order until right before they called me. So their system was down for about an hour unbeknownst to me. They were not able to complete my order but did an excellent job remedying the situation - they sent me a salad, a desert, a liter of still water, a sparkling water and a large basket of snacks free of charge for the issue. I was very appreciate of both the hotels ownership of the issue and the quick service once they issue was identified. The food was also very good, I wish I had been able to have the hot food I ordered. Overall very impressed with their handling of the incident. Overall I felt like the room was a good value for the location and comfortable but there were enough issues with my stay where I probably wouldn't come again - I think I just got unlucky but would recommend to give it a try if you are in the area. Their service was fantastic and if you are comfortable sleeping warm then this will be a great stay.

Yelp
Very clean hotel with great service I arrived early early in the morning and they were kind enough to let me check in early for a small fee I was really appreciative The hotel is about a 10 minute walk away from the closest metro but there are plenty of places to eat nearby It's very close to the White House Great location.

Yelp
GREAT hotel, especially for the LGBT+ community! Phenomenal room, great amenities, in the heart of LGBT+ neighborhood, walkable to everything from local gems to the White House! My boyfriend and I went for a long weekend (Fri-Mon). We stayed in a King Studio, which was absolutely worth it! The bed is big, soft, and comfortable. The bathroom is beautiful and modern with a huge shower, though the water does run HOT! The storage space was great. It's the heart of the city so don't expect landscape vista views, but who's traveling to look out the hotel window? The staff was friendly and welcoming. Our room was ready early and they allowed us to check in at 12:00 pm. The Dovetail restaurant was delicious, with great cocktails! BPM cafe is a touch pricey but good quality drinks for a hotel (though I'd recommend going to one of the dozen cafes nearby instead). The rooftop above the 10th floor was small but beautiful, with a cute little pool and a bar in the evenings. Overall I couldn't be happier, and we'll definitely be back next time we go to DC!

Yelp
Great hotel within walking distance of the White House. Pros * Clean rooms * Great and friendly service * Updated/Renovated design and decor * Spacious, well designed room (King studio) Cons * The hotel is a bit pricey given how nice it is, but we were able to find dates where it was priced similar to the holiday inn, so I guess this isn't really a con. * The hotel charged a $26 daily amenity fee on top of what we paid to the travel website the we used. This was disclosed in advance of our stay by email but not at booking time. The standout at this hotel is the great service. The staff at the front desk are great people who are willing to help - and we definitely used the help. They assisted us with local advice as well as receiving an Amazon package, etc., all done with great professionalism and friendliness.

Yelp
I haven't checked out, yet I feel confident with this review. This stay was a GREAT surprise. The hotel is funky, modern and artsy. Superb art selection that makes the ambiance feel cozy and lush. The staff has been stupendous and courteous. Our room was spotless, impeccably decorated with delightful art, and incredibly spacious and comfortable. The convenience of the BMP café and the Dovetail restaurant was a plus. The location was perfect and felt comfortable and safe to walk to brunch with friends. Loved this place and would absolutely recommend.

Yelp
Wow. It has been a minute since I stayed in a hotel with such poor service. When we arrived there was a car blocking the driveway and causing traffic issues on the street so at the check-in desk we mentioned it to the staff, who very snippily told us the valet knew and would take care of it. Ok. The next day, about 10 minutes after I checked out, I realized I had left behind my silk pillowcase on the pillow in the room. I called and told them my room number, and asked if they could look for my pillowcase. The staff member could not have cared less and said, "We'll look into it." and hung up on me. She didn't ask for my name or phone number and I never heard back. I called back again but nobody ever answered the housekeeping/lost and found line. Then, a few days later I called asking for a copy of my folio to be emailed. Most hotels I stay at automatically email it but the Viceroy did not. The first person I spoke to said they would email it. It never came. I called again and the second person said they would email it and never emailed it. Finally I called today and I said I really need my folio and I've called several times asking for it. The third time's the charm I guess. This is not the place to stay if you are looking for a hotel that prioritizes hospitality. I would recommend to everyone that you should avoid staying here and I personally will never come back. RIP my poor pillowcase. Giving it two stars because I kind of liked the room, the nice tall headboard is nice and the bathroom is large. There is no carpet though and we were woken up by the upstairs guest clomping around in heels at 7am. If anyone at Viceroy cares, I am no longer in DC but would really like my pillowcase back.

Yelp
We stayed at the Viceroy on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, and checked out today Friday, September 29, 2023. First, I will say I'm not sure how this hotel has such good reviews on yelp or TripAdvisor. Our room 804 was dirty, under kept with the smell of mold, the door wouldn't close properly and the air conditioning squealed all night. We were blown away this hotel is considered a 4-star hotel. We paid over $500 a night based on the reviews and pictures online, thinking we we were getting a high-end stay, but we got a glorified Motel 6. I am so disappointed and will never stay at a Viceroy property again. As you can see, based on my pictures, this hotel was absolutely sub-par for what they are charging.

Phil B.

Yelp
This hotel charges hidden fees upon check in, and it overcharged me for parking. I had to get a refund for the difference with parking and staff were extremely rude and unapologetic. Additionally, they sent me a new receipt with an additional $5.37 charge from the cafe, but I never purchased anything from the cafe. I called four times to get the refund, and every time they said they would provide the refund, but they never did. I had to submit a dispute with my bank. I do not recommend staying there or eating at Dovetail. Staff needs more training in customer service or simply get out get out of the hospitality industry, and the hotel needs to not try and nickel and dime its customers.

Ric M.

Yelp
The Viceroy has big rooms but feels dated. It's also a noisy hotel. I stayed here a week ago and I thought about not drafting a review because the staff was friendly and helpful but I decided to leave a review so my situation could be prevented by other guest. I checked out early because I had work meetings and checked my bags to pick up later that afternoon before my flight home. Someone went through my checked back and stole my headphones. I'm a type A packer so I account for everything and ensure I don't leave anything behind. It doesn't matter how helpful staff are of they steal your stuff.

Yelp
I would first like to say that I hope The Viceroy will take this feedback and make this property better, because it truly has lots of potential. The hotel is beautifully decorated, but is lacking in basic amenities. The hotel staff was really nice and for the most part, the rooms were great (size-wise, layout, etc). There's a great restaurant, Dovetail, located on the first floor and it is phenomenal. Where The Viceroy fell short was the poor AC circulation in the rooms and the rooftop pool area. During our 3 night stay, our room did not cool at all. The cold air was blowing from the AC unit, but it didn't stay cool. It made it very uncomfortable to sleep and we had to constantly turn on the AC, since it would automatically turn off on its own. We asked the front desk about the AC issue and they said it was a common issue at all their properties, and there wasn't anything they could do. The second big issue was the pool area, which turned out to be a disappointment. Not only was the Hush Rooftop Bar not open for the 3 days we spent at the pool, but it was nearly impossible to find snacks/food on the hotel premise during the pool hours. The BPM coffee and wine shop closes at 1pm, and the Hush Rooftop Bar opens at 5pm and is not available during pool hours. We had to bring outside food and drinks to the pool area, which was a huge inconvenience. The hotel is missing out on an opportunity to cater to the poolside crowd between 1-5pm. Aside from this, the pool was dirty, cloudy and we found all sorts of plastic cups, and chunks of hair floating in the pool. We asked the staff assigned to the pool to please pass the net, but it was pretty obvious the pool hadn't been cleaned in a while. I've never seen this at any other pool I've been to, and know it's a small task that goes a long way. I don't don't how The Viceroy is considered a 4-star hotel, but if they're going to claim and charge like a 4-star hotel, they should put the effort into being one.

Yelp
Do not recommend staying here. My rental car was damaged by the valet and the hotel did not provide any assistance or compensation. Yelp
Here for a week of R&R. No complaints but nothing wowed me either. The room - an upgrade thanks to my Amex card - was well appointed but it, as much of the hotel, was exceedingly dark with a view of the neighboring apartment block. I work in hospitality so when I stay somewhere I try and book a property that makes me want to spend time there - this one didn't, in fact I was always looking to get out and about. There is a rooftop bar and pool but we're closed for the season. That said, the location is good. It's close to the Dupont metro and 14th Street is very vibrant. I spent 10 years in DC and to see how this neighborhood has changed was very interesting. Service and hotel staff all extremely friendly and helpful. No trained concierges, but if you needed help with anything they were more than happy to assist. Cafe staff *exceptionally* friendly and service-oriented - very good coffee!

R. A.

Yelp
This is a my second time here using the day pass through Resort Pass. It is such the perfect location to take a dip in the pool and then to your room to get some work done. Everything is very clean and the staff is so welcoming.

Alex K.

Yelp
I stayed here by myself in 1020 for two nights in sept 2023. Not sure where to go with this but when I woke up, I found hand prints on the bathroom door and the hands were not my size. The prints were definitely not there before when I first checked in. They are so obvious that anyone would have noticed, as you can tell from the video. I was pretty horrified to think maybe there was a potential security breach or something else... I was definitely the only one staying and I cannot explain how those prints got there (not make up smudge or didn't look like paint even. Idk what that was). I hope the hotel can explain. Aside from all that, the hotel was nice and clean (other than the visible hand prints on the door lol) & reasonably priced.

Yelp
We had an AMAZING time! We did a staycation here for my birthday - day pass! Jypsy was so accommodating and upgraded us to a suite and brought us free champagne on the rooftop! The rooftop is everything!!!!! There's so many amazing spots at this hotel - cute places to sit and chat and hang out, and SO many cute photo op spots! The only disappointment was that the pool isn't heated, but we still jumped in, lol! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
My husband and I had our wedding reception here, and I cannot say enough about how incredible our experience was. Our guests LOVED their rooms. They all raved about the huge showers, comfortable beds, and beautiful decor. If you're looking for a place to stay on your trip to DC, you will not be disappointed in the Viceroy! The rooms are fantastic, but it's really the staff that put this hotel over the top. From the front desk, to the servers, to the event staff, everyone was so helpful and friendly with our guests, which really made the wedding special. Kate, the Director of Sales, was the event liaison for our reception and she was simply incredible. In the many months leading up to our wedding, she was extremely communicative and helpful. She always had time to talk to us and answer our questions. On our wedding day, she went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us. After we left the church and arrived at our reception, it was SO nice to be able to relax and let the event staff take the reins. The event staff took care of everything for us. Kate really listened to our vision for the reception and made it come to life. If you are looking for an event venue that will work tirelessly with you to bring your vision to life and make sure you and every single one of your guests has an incredible time, look no further! Thank you Kate and everyone at the Viceroy Washington DC!

Yelp
Had a great stay at the Viceroy in DC. The common areas were modern and well-maintained, and the hotel was clean & safe. My room was spacious with a couch and small sitting area After checking in, Michael D was a gracious host and helped me with some recommendations and great hospitality. I didn't eat at the on-site restaurant, but it's steps away from one of 2 of my DC favorites, Le Diplomat and Janay. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Literally the WORST experience on earth!!!!!!!!! Poor customer service out room was filthy. The staff was NOT helpful even we tried to reach out. I would NEVER stay here again!!!!

Yelp
This hotel is so special to us! We have stayed here to celebrate our anniversary for the last couple years, and it is always magical! This most recent stay was even better. We got upgraded to a King Suite to celebrate our anniversary and even got a couple of glasses of champagne. The woman that checked us in was SO SWEET. The restaurant was awesome, the coffee bar makes one helluva latte, and valet is seamless. OH AND THE SOAKING TUB WAS GLORIOUS! All in all, it's a great place to have a getaway, even if it's a staycation. We will be back!

Yelp
Wow this place blew me away with their service. Beautiful hotel like a picture. Amazing artwork and just a very cool city vibe. We had booked the wrong day and they were very accommodating with the reservation. We also met the food and wine director Josh who is amazing and gave us great directions and dinner recommendations around the city. Five stars all around would definitely recommend and come back feels like you're at home.

Yelp
Booked a room and tried to reach staff to extend by one day.. they were unable/unwilling to assist promptly.. since I travel every week, was not used to dealing with arrogant staff that didn't feel like helping me. Called and called to try to speak to manager to cancel my stay and no one willing to help. Feels like a very Woke property that would rather cause drama than just do thier jobs.. so many great properties in DC but this is one to avoid.

Yelp
Beautiful place and wonderful staff. Beautiful rooms and the bathrooms of course are my favorites. I still have one more day to review. So far so good !!!

Yelp
We really enjoyed our stay at the Viceroy. We arrived really early from Boston and the concierge, Karen made us feel right at home. She gave us a very helpful outline of the ins and outs of the hotel, including the café, pool and restaurant. When we got to our room I fell asleep on the bed almost immediately it was so comfortable. The shower and bathroom are nice and the room in general is spacious. The pool is a great option for the summer when its hot. I had a good feeling about it when booking but was very happy with our time here!

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, room was clean and modern. The staff were all very nice, personable and accommodating. The restaurant had a good vibe and the chicken sandwich was on point. There is an overnight parking fee, which was fine. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again

Yelp
My friend and I stayed here about 2 weeks ago over the weekend. The hotel is very Instagram/picture friendly with various vibey areas that allow for cute pictures. They have a restaurant, rooftop with a pool and i believe a bar as well. I was pretty upset we didn't get a chance to visit these areas because of a packed weekend schedule. When we arrived we were immediately greeted by the host, everyone was very nice and the room was spacious. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was absolutely beautiful. The location is prime, located near various restaurants and in the heart of the city. The only drawback to the hotel was parking. They have street parking but it's extremely difficult to find especially on a weekend. But they do have valet parking which is $50/day. Valet was very attentive too and they actually delivered things i left in my car to my room.

Yelp
I had an eventful stay recently at the Viceroy while in DC on business. To get the basics out of the way, the room was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities you could want at this price point. However this is not why i'm recommending the Viceroy. After checking out, I had several hours before my train back to NYC and needed to do some work. Rather than chase me out as some lesser hotels might, the wonderful staff let me work in their nicely appointed lobby before setting off. I am a Type 1 diabetic and suddenly I experienced a major medical emergency. The staff of the hotel went above and beyond to make me comfortable and attended to my needs, even running to the store to pick me up some sugar free gatorade, without complaint even though I had made an awful mess of the lobby. Thank you, Viceroy, for being there for me in an hour of need. I plan to come back and recommend others do the same.

Yelp
I want to start off by saying, The Viceroy Hotel was nowhere in my weekend vacation plans. I arrived to DC super early, and needed a place to stay until my friend's arrived at our intended vacation Hotel for check in. I booked the Viceroy through the "Dayuse" app and caught a pretty good deal for a 7am-5pm Hotel stay. It was my first time using the App, and did not have very high expectations outside of being excited that the reservation came with pool access. I arrived a little before 7am and was greeted by John, who not only allowed me to check in a little early, but was able to upgrade me to a larger room for my short day stay. The room was gorgeous, spacious, and clean. I also appreciated the Google Voice as an added amenity to the room. Their in hotel Coffee Shop opened promptly at 7am, where I was greeted by Marcus who whipped up an amazing Oat Creme Brulee Lattee. It was seriously one of the best lattes I've ever had (and I am a former Barista) They also had a nice selection of sandwiches, wine, beer, and snacks. At 8am I shot up to the Rooftop Pool (Which turns into a rooftop bar after 4pm) The pool set a whole new experience to working remotely. It was quiet, and there were only a few people up there at a time. I checked out at 5pm, and the Front Desk Team checked me out Quickly. The front Desk Team (Karen/Ariel) were so warm, bright, and pleasant. They suggested great places to eat, and visit in the area, and encouraged me to return. Karen shared her card with me after my comment of wanting my same room back on my next visit. When I met with my girlfriends at our intended hotel they were pouty, and disappointed because our initial Hotel had marketed that they were more high end than they actually were, and didn't feel that it was appropriate for a weekend celebration. I immediately called Karen back at the Viceory to see if we would be able to be accommodated to last minute. Within an Hour I was checked back into the Viceroy thanks to Karen saving the day. We expressed what we needed in our room, and what were were trying to accomplish, and she not only exceeded our expectations, but checked in with us throughout our stay to ensure we were comfortable, and taken care of. Karen understood the assignment, and gave more than what was needed to be given. She is a gem, and should be protected at all costs. I have never been so accommodated to when traveling domestically. I made sure to share with all my friends in the DMV area that the Viceroy was it for me. All of the staff were pleasant, and helpful. Aesthetically the Viceroy is a Social Media Playground. I am looking forward to their restaurant Dovetail to open, but we still took some nice pictures in their outdoor area, The Viceroy was everything we needed for a girls birthday weekend trip, and I want to thank the staff (Especially Karen) for saving the weekend, and making it stress free. I will be returning...

Yelp
Attractive, subtle and well designed hotel, just off of 14th street. We really enjoy our time in DC when at this hotel. Close to attractions, dining, and a great restaurant inside the hotel that was not too crowded. What makes the stay here worth it though is the staff - from front desk (Karen I think her name was), a really friendly and helpful valet guy , to the gracious manager at the restaurant (blond hair, forgot her name) we look forward to using Viceroy as our go to when in DC.

Yelp
The Viceroy Washington DC is brimming with thoughtful details for an extremely comfortable stay and the best sleep I've ever had at a hotel, thanks to their extremely effective blackout curtains, perfectly dialed-in AC system, and top-notch bed/bedding. Karen at the front desk in particular is superb -- kind, welcoming, and intuitive in knowing just how to help you feel at home. This is the kind of place you return to over the years!

Yelp
It's very simple. This hotel has the wrong pin in Uber and Lyft which directs you to an entirely different property in the middle of the night! If you put in Viceroy in Uber it directs toy to the Hotel Zegna property. I did not appreciate being dropped off in the middle of the night at the wrong property, only to deal with a hostile front desk manager who said I needed to put in the exact address! So dangerous and so easy to fix and yet the hotel did nothing to direct me to the right location in the middle of the night! What the hell! Fix your pin, not that hard! Unsafe and dangerous! Will never ever stay at a Viceroy property again after the way I was treated!

Yelp
We loved this hotel. The room exceeded our expectations. It was HUGE - easily accommodated two adults and a tween and teen. We never felt crowded. The bathroom was a big hit. It was enormous! A couple of minor issues. Walls were a bit thin and don't get a room next to the elevator. You will hear it. Everyone who works here is so nice and friendly - esp. Karen! We loved the location. Right around the corner from a Whole Foods that we visited regularly. If we are ever in DC again, we would for sure stay here. Great staff and the hotel is really beautiful!

Yelp
Rooftop bar plays loud music during the day even when no one is on the roof and disrupts nearby residents.

Yelp
The BEST part of Viceroy DC is Frank Zet at the front desk!!!! He will make sure your visit and experience is the best. Such a great person :-)

Yelp
I think Karen might be an angel she basically defines hospitality and took care of me from the moment I stepped in. The staff is incredibly accommodating and so kind. I had a really bad experience at another hotel, checked out of there early and called the Viceroy around 10 pm to make sure they could do an early check in for me the next day. Karen and the night manager clearly went above and beyond because I got early checkin and the room is incredibly grand! Wood floors, comfy bed, chrome cast TV, tub and standing shower in the suite. I would have stayed here for my honeymoon.

Yelp
My family of four had a wonderful stay here, right as DC was opening up. The staff was accommodating and nice, and the room was clean and modern with a large bathroom, which was great for sharing with our two teens. While it was disappointing the pool closed at 4pm (why I'm giving 4 stars) we really appreciated the cafe downstairs where Michelle served us coffee and breakfast with kindness during our stay. I also like that it's tucked into a neighborhood with many great restaurants you can walk to. We'll be back.

Yelp
My experience at the Viceroy hotel was truly an wonderful experience; especially for it to have been in a busy area like U street. As soon as I walked in I was greatly treated by the receptionist. I was able to check in quickly. During my stay I did not have any distributions; it was a nice, quite, respectable place. Lastly, to top it off the hotel was clean and the rooms were lovely. The hotel had many essentials just in case you left something at home.

Yelp
From the moment I got out of the Uber the staff of the viceroy went ABOVE AND BEYOND to ensure my stay was spectacular. Karen and Justin are literal GEMS of people. They make sure that you feel heard and seen and SAFE!

Yelp
Great area, lots of good restaurants around the hotel that are of walking distance. Such nice staff that are very accommodating also it's pretty cheap for a nice and clean hotel!

Yelp
I visited Dovetail restaurant at Viceroy Hotel, with a group of business professionals for dinner and we were thrilled by the ambiance this place has. It has a very warm and cozy feel to it. It was raining that night and the manager Inigo was very helpful and accommodating and seated us in covered patio area so we could still enjoy being outdoor. Service was excellent our server Sachi was very knowledgeable and attentive and the manager Inigo, also came to make sure everything is on point. Food was excellent and the cold lobster soup was amazing. Overall one of the best dining experiences I`ve had in the DC area! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Absolutely awful. Amenities were not as advertised. Staff unhelpful and unfriendly. Never again.

Yelp
I stayed at Viceroy a couple months ago and it was the worst hotel experience I've had in quite some time. There was a stench in the room that I could not overcome. It smelled sour as if there was mildew in the walls. The management at Viceroy were not accommodating. If you're looking for somewhere nice to stay in DC, please look elsewhere!!!!

Yelp
Just overall a terrible experience. I would not recommend. Poor customer service and not in a good area.

Yelp
My daughter and I loved our stay at the Viceroy while visiting colleges during Spring Break. Karen Davis, Justin, and the front desk staff could not be any nicer or more helpful. We found the common areas relaxing and fun to entertain our local friends. Our room was very nice with a large bathroom. It was a perfect stay at a beautiful, boutique hotel.

Yelp
It was very nice and staff were nice aswell. The pool closes at 4 pm which is a bit early but that is my only complaint. It's a really good bar on the roof aswell

Yelp
The hotel is nicely laid out-aesthetically, it's clear that the hotel is trying to be trendy and modern. The restaurant Dovetail was nice and had a pretty outdoor patio. While the hotel looks nice, the basics and infrastructure behind it are faulty. The hotel's check-in app did not work when we tried to use it. We attempted to order room service using the QR code for Dovetail on the in-room TV but our order ended up being sent out to Uber eats so I had to call down to the restaurant to sort out the issue which was inconvenient and annoying. If the hotel displays a QR code and advertises it for room service as a convenient way to order, it needs to function correctly otherwise there is no point and convenience is lost. If you want late checkout, they charge $125 extra for a few extra hours in the room- very steep price. We alerted the front desk when we checked in that we booked a late check out online and they didn't have any record of it. Once we sorted that out, we got a knock on our door the next afternoon from management asking why we hadn't checked out yet and we told them that we had a late checkout. When the person at the door said he would alert the front desk, we told him that the front desk was already aware of our late check out as we confirmed it with them the day before- very poor communication between staff members. Also, the room didn't heat properly, the radiator ran and ran and the room was still freezing. Lastly, the walls are incredibly thin. We could hear guests screaming in rooms across the hall- we weren't even sharing a wall with the room that was being extremely loud. Advice to management: focus less on trendy aesthetic and more on establishing baseline comforts that are expected of a hotel stay (especially one this pricey).

Yelp
Me, my daughter, my cousin and her family we all stayed there 2 weeks ago and absolutely loved it, clean and spotless just the way I like it with my OCD , very friendly and wonderful staff and very helpful indeed loved that we could walk for our breakfast every morning, if ever have to go back to DC would definitely want to stay here again
