Hwang's Restaurant

This is the first time I've left a review. I've been coming to this restaurant for a long time, but I think it recently changed owners and the truth is that there is a big difference compared to before and by that I mean the quality of the meats and the cuts. I really recommend this place if you don't like waiting like in other places and the truth is that the prices are not bad at all.

This place was seriously delicious. The food was amazing and the service was phenomenal. We were helped by Rosa, she is just a delight. So nice and friendly. We would definitely be coming back!

On the website, at the door and on Google it says it closes at midnight, I got there at 11:05pm and this guy told me that they already had a last call. Mind you I was ordering to go. When I told him that they should clarify it on their website, he has the nerve to tell me oh this is not a fast food restaurant and all the restaurants closes 1 hour before closing time. This was my 3rd or 4th time coming in and I always had a pleasant experience with a young lady (Emily I think). But this time the disrespect and the dismissiveness was too much. I won't be going back there. I go where I am wanted

Pretty good food at a reasonable price. I like the idea of 1. Pick your meat. 2. Cook it. 3. Enjoy. The all you can eat comes with several sides. Side note: If you don't eat all of your meat there is an additional charge. Staff is kind and service is fast. This place stays busy, so if additional parking is needed there is some in the back. Bathrooms on premises.

Been coming here for over 20 years. I remember when they had ayce for 16 bucks yep the good old days. Food is still decent n the plates piled high with meat to bbq. My only bone to pick is why dont they ever make the seafood pancake half the size n charge half the price? I feel more people would order sides if they were not so large in portions or costly.

Me and my family love Hwangs, April is such a great person and host. Food is always fresh and delicious and the quality of the meat is a lot better than ayce places. Portions are good size, April always makes us feel welcomed

I genuinely appreciated Rosa's service today. My brother and I both wanted to eat KBBQ after a long day of work. We ordered the 3P. The amount of meat we received was well worth the price! We had brisket, pork belly, and galbi. They put thought into how much food to provide for the price given. Rosa stopped by often to cook for us and changed our grill before we even asked. This place has been around for years. I've been coming here since my teens! Ambiance is mom and pop. I've recently moved back home for school, and I'm glad I have access to KBBQ just minutes away. I wish Hwang's many more years of success. A staple in Gardena.

Outstanding Korean Food, Service and reasonable. Open late but it feels like eating at mom in laws house..... Small but warm atmosphere. Great portions and Banchan all legit.

I ordered the Tofu Kimchi and WOW, it was absolutely fantastic. Honestly, if I had to pick a last meal, this might be it. The portion was massive and lasted me three full meals and it tasted amazing every single time, even when reheated. What really blew me away was how much pork was packed in. So flavorful and satisfying, it completely exceeded my expectations. 5 stars!

My new favorite Korean BBQ restaurant! It's not all you can eat but it's really good! So much flavor in all the meats and sides we ordered. We came in with a group of 8 and they say is right away and we're so accommodating and sweet with our kids. Our server even cut our kids some meat for them and played some kids music. It was so sweet of them and food was amazing! I highly recommend and will be back very soon!

GOOD FOOD, DECENT SERVICE, AMAZING SALAD!! My bf and I went here before our movie date night, and I loved it. We literally whipped out yelp, and went to whatever Korean bbq that was closest! FOOD: 4/5 We ordered the 2 meats, and we picked the spicy pork, pork belly, and a few sides. My fav side was That friggin pancake thing, it was BOMB! It comes with 2 drinks, 2 rice, spicy cucumber, green salad, bean sprouts, and mashed potatoes. The only thing I didn't really like was potato salad- other than that, everything else was great! The meats were fresh and well seasoned, and I would definitely order the pork combo again! PRICE: 5/5 The price was $70.00 for two, including tax. It's about average, and I think it was decently priced. We had a lot of food, and it was really worth the price. CUSTOMER SERVICE: 2.5/5 Well, we did go during "hurricane Hillary" lol. So service was...well, not great, and not good either. It was my only negative feedback of our experience here, if I'm being honest. There was an older lady trying to serve the sides, and one guy seating, taking orders, ringing up, and trying to serve as well... as he was doing all of those things, us and other tables needed refills, napkins, to order other things...it's was just a mess. However, I know being short staffed must be the worst feeling for any business, so I try to give them grace. ALL AROUND: 4/5 I will definitely be coming back! After reading some of the other reviews, I see that people genuinely love this place, but the only complaint is the service. I know this place will continue to get better, and I hope when we go back it improves.

My husband and I used to love this restaurant. We would get off from work at midnight and go to this restaurant to close the night out. This was a few years ago. They have since changed the hours they close earlier and for some reason, I believe that they sold the restaurant and new people Own the restaurant because the food does not taste the same. The meat isn't marinated the same and even the staff is different. So we don't enjoy the restaurant the same way that we did initially. However, it is a good choice if you want to enjoy a simple Korean barbecue restaurant

Home style Korean soup and dishes! Plus Korean BBQ with a burner on each (small) table which is great when there's just two of you. No need to wait to eat KBBQ with a large group, and because it's not AYCE they use higher quality meats than buffet style places. It's a family owned and run business that's been around for decades! Super friendly staff and the mom was cooking when we visited recently which was a huge plus for delicious authentic food. Portion sizes were excellent and they provided a lot of banchan side dishes including ones you don't always get at most Korean spots, yay. We ordered a bimbimbap and beef soup (galbi tang) and the soup really made me feel like I was eating homemade healthy comfort food. It had clear noodles and daikon and delicious meat on the bone. They're open late which is awesome. Just be aware that the last call is more than an hour before closing. When we ate recently we saw them turn away people 1 hour, 15 mins prior to the yelp listed close time.

Oh my gosh! There is so many things to say about this place. My family and I have been coming here since 2016 and can never find something similar or better! I love getting their take out and even eating there! The food is always so flavorful and delicious!!! The customer service as well is so great and we love April so much she is so kind and welcoming!! Overall the best place to go to and eat with the family.

Sad that they were rude. Since my daughter had to use the restroom told me that restroom only for customers. She was already in there and told me that while she was using it. I feel discriminated just because we were black. We were purchasing items from another place in the plaza.

When friends invited me to this place, I immediately thought it would suck cause I inky go to AYCE places. After eating here, I can honestly say this place is the opposite of suck! We got combo D, with the galbi, bulgogi, brisket and pork belly. I normally only get brisket and bulgogi at AYCE places, so I ate those and tried the galbi. The meats are definitely premium cause I ate so much and I am really picky. The galbi was boneless so it just looked like a stop streak and I even was able to eat that! The ladies working there were super nice and funny too! Will be back and won't eat the entire day until I get there!

I'm not too picky when it comes to Korean BBQ, but I do prefer quality over quantity so I loved that Hwang's was no longer AYCE because the quality definitely showed in the meat selections we ordered. We ordered the Combo E which consisted of 5 meats of our choice (ok to double up) and either a soju or 5 sodas. We chose 2 brisket, 1 pork belly, 1 spicy bulgogi, and 1galbi. This was enough to feed our group of 7 adults and get us full, so you know Hwang's is not skimping on their portions. Also, 10/10 for service - the owner was SO sweet and personable. Looking forward to coming back the next time I am in the area.

I go here regularly with the family. The food is always great, service is excellent. April is very generous, kind, and attentive. Favorites are the Combo 2 and 3; comes with tons of meat, endless banchan sides, and either beer, soju, or soda included. We also love their yukdaejang beef soup and the steamed egg. I've also gotten the bento box to go and it's pretty big! Overall we always have a great experience at Hwang's and frequently refer family and friends.

I called for a pick up order at 10:50 and they wouldn't take my order because they were too busy even though they closed at twelve. Then maybe they shouldn't make their hours so late and just close at 11.Therefore people don't think that they're gonna be open late night and get excited. I don't know what kind of restaurant turns down orders when they're not even near closing hours.

People on here be lying fr, ts pmo icl. Dog, $76 for bulgogi beef, spicy pork belly, and *unlimited* sides. Not even a lot of options to choose from. You can't possibly call yourself a kbbq if you don't got the cheese corn, premium meats, etc. You're better off going to an kbbq AYCE. Food was decent at least, good taste, decent service, but dog... really? for that price?

I've been coming here since I was a young teen and it's my go to Korean restaurant I absolutely love the food and service. A nice and quiet place where you can sit down and have a good meal after a long days work. The service is top tier they are always on top of your side dishes and main meats. If you live within the area or just visiting the city I highly recommend Hwang's restaurant.

If you are looking for a place that is open late with great meats and friendly service, This is the place: Landed in LAX hungry after flying for 14.5 hours. Didn't get rental car until 10:30pmish. Was in search for Korean BBQ that is open late. Found this life saver. Walked in at 11:05pm. They close at midnight on Saturday. New management. The mom and son was Uber- friendly. Great service. Satifying bbq. We ordered Combo C for three people, choice of 3 meat and sides. Ordered Brisket, Bullogi, Boneless rib and pork belly. We couldn't eat them all, so we took the leftovers home. Definitely have to come back when in the area again.

Open from 4pm-12am. No wait. Quint Korean place. Not all you can eat. But 2 order of meat, which are big portions can feed up all 3 of us. The quality of side dishes, meats, and the stew ate delicious and great quality. The best is the extremely caring and friendly services we received while dining here. I enjoyed my meal and I will definitely come back.

Overall just horrible!! Meat is very hard to chew and red paest soup had couple of tofu and that was it.

In Gardena this is the best Kbbq option. No frills, just good food and service. The menu isn't overly complicated. They have a few combos fairly priced with all the sides you need to fill you up. The meats + sides offered were of good quality and tasty. Highly recommend.

Food and service were great! There were 6 of us and little nephew loved helping grill at our table. Very casual and relaxed environment. The owner was wonderful; she made our experience awesome.

This was my first experience with Korean BBQ, and I found it to be quite enjoyable. April helped me to discover not only the food, but how to enjoy the experience with my friends. I was able to enjoy it because April provided good service without being intrusive.

This is my go to place for Korean BBQ. I have food allergies and they are more than willing to help tell me what is safe to eat and even separate sides for me. The service is always friendly and the food is amazing. A++ all the way around

The food we ordered was a bountiful plenty, the beautiful hostess at the stand kindly greeted us & sat us. Immediately other people started coming in & the restaurant was busy but gave me a nostalgia feeling. It was the first time taking my little sister out & treating her to Korean bbq. Oh yeah they also let you keep all the food you ordered unlike most Korean bbq places !! Would & will come again :)

Arrived just before 11pm and they still allowed us in and to order as normal - did not feel rushed at all considering it was getting close to closing time. The staff were really friendly. Food was great, we ordered two meats and a soup to share. The meat and all side dishes came out and I was so overwhelmed I had to ask if the kitchen could prepare the soup for take away. The lady came over to help us cook our bbq meats after which was nice as we were hungry and wanted to eat and leave so they could get on with their closing. We asked if we could take everything we couldn't eat away and they packed it for us nicely. There were a few others in the restaurant but they were finishing up. I really enjoyed it here and was very satisfied with my meal considering I literally rolled out of a nap and went to eat some bbq before sleeping again like a beast. Thank you for making my belly happy. Would recommend!

Hwangs is our go to KBBQ restaurant! Family owned and the best service you will experience. The quality and quantity of meats/side dishes justify the cost.

They are absolutely amazing! The quality of food is outstanding and the service is great! It's much better than a chain restaurant. April is the sweetest person. My fiance and I go here just about every week because we know we will get good food and good service. LOVE YOU APRIL!

The owner of this place was super friendly and welcoming . Our son was a little fussy during our visit , and she kept checking on us to see of we were ok . She even brought him some candy to calm him down . We were a little embarrassed and she ensured us that it was ok , and definitely a family friendly business. I appreciate her kindness so much ! The food was amazing ! The service was so fast ! I would recommended the spicy beef soup !

NOT ALL YOU CAN EAT! They currently do not offer their AYCE option. We went in expecting this and were unfortunately disappointed.

I went in yesterday for the first time and got the spicy beef soup. I didn't think it would come with as many sides as it did and an extra bowl of the noodles the food quality there is really good. I definitely recommend. Not only is the food but the service is really great everyone is so friendly and welcoming.

Lovvvee this place. Still great food at a neighborly restaurant. It looks like they are making some new changes with the decor and stuff, with cute pink pigs. The employees here are super friendly, and I think it's family owned. It is right up my alley as I prefer supporting small businesses. I often order takeout bento boxes for me and my little one. My favorite is the spicy pork bulgogi and my son loves their kimchi and doenjang jjigae (Just like haelmoni's cooking!)

Food and Service is outstanding!! I've never eaten as much!! Definitely a place to come back to!! April is the best! Combo A with Brisket and pork belly is what we ordered sooo good!! The side dishes tastes amazing and fresh!! Customer service is genuine and personable, can't ask for anything more!!!

I've been here a few times and the food is always great! I can't say the same for service though. They close at 12am; but last time I went(~10pm), an HOUR BEFORE closing, the waiter really rushed my friend and I. He pretty much asked us to leave way before closing time. It was such an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience. It was hard to fully enjoy the food and soju we ordered. Other than that, I'd recommend this place, maybe just don't go later at night.

Great food for a good price! They serve you a large amount for each meat, it's definitely worth coming here. The staff is friendly and answers any questions you have. A great mom and pop environment.

Just picked up my to go order tonight. Cheating rotten bastard pulled a bait and switch on me. Paid $33.41 for Korean short ribs. They gave me pre-cut cheap slices of beef. Dried and chewy. Who the F does this. Do not recommend at all. They will screw you over first chance they get. Rotten to the core!

Where have you been all my life! Unassuming Korean restaurant in an equally unassuming plaza off of Western delivering delicious authentic Korean food. Night club like atmosphere? Nope Waiters walking around with ear pieces like the President is eating there? Nope. Loud K pop music blasting from all directions? Nope Here's what you will find here however... Good, authentic, Korean food and BBQ served in an relaxing, casual environment by maybe the friendliest staff on this side of Chik Fil A... A great place for people that like to eat... And they recently got their beer/wine license , Soju!

Decent kbbq place. I've never been to a kbbq place outside koreatown or little Tokyo however my friend recommended this place so We had dinner here. It's $22.99 for all you can eat. The meat options are good especially for someone like me who only orders brisket. The sides were good and the service was good as well. They checked up on us and made sure we didn't need anything. They also have a call button on the wall next to each table so that you can call them if you need anything. What I really loved was the fact that we didn't have to do the typical 1hr-2hr wait to be seated like in other kbbq places.

Food was great! Service was great! I am very picky, but I really liked the freshness and service. Will definitely return and recommend.

Words of caution: you will leave the restaurant smelling like a whole lotta KBBQ. No doubt about it! Leave your sunglasses in the car, take off your watches, keep your cell phone in your pockets, all that will smell! Now back to the review. Hwang's is actually really decent in my books. It's hard to find good gogi out of K-Town LA...until I found Hwang's. Minus the poor air/smoke circulation inside the restaurant, the service was pretty good, the price was reasonable ($22.99 per person), the Bachans were good and the meats were tasty and fresh. This ain't your K-Town AYCE KBBQ Restaurant, no loud music, no big crowds, no valet parking, just your small KBBQ restaurant. For $22.99 you get all your usual suspects, Kalbi, Bulgogi, Chado, chicken, pork belly, and a couple of other proteins. The marinated Kalbi and Bulgogi were tasty, they're my go to meats...! I believe Hwang's has a separate non-AYCE Menu as well. The veggies (and salad) were also tasty too. Firm 4-Stars. I liked it.

I have spent far too long looking for a kbbq spot that not only has good (probably the best I've had tbh) meat, but also really good entrees (particularly soups) and good side dishes. The first time I had the galbitang at Hwang's, I knew there was an OG Korean cooking the food because this food was different. It tasted like my moms! If you're looking for a friendly staff, amazing food, and a great all around experience, you're welcome because I found your spot! My boyfriend is a Beef brisket fanatic (bodybuilder, 200 lbs and protein is life) and he loves this spot. Highly recommend their beef brisket, egg side dish, and galbitang!

Best Birthday ever!!!!! Food was great EVERYTHING!!!! The atmosphere and music was awesome. My 1st listen to K-Pop R&B Jay Park-The Promise is now in my playlist. $21 for all you can eat. I've been on the hunt for decent kbbq in the southbay but still no luck. I guess you can only get good kbbq and service in Koreatown or a few places in Orange County. PROS You do have the option to ring a bell next to your table for service. I also like the hooks they placed on the wall to hang your bags. The food is somewhat better quality but you get very limited choices. CONS The waitresses here are nice but after a while, they disappear and their service becomes non-existent. Not much to choose from on the menu. We did not recieve a grill change at all. You have to sit on tiny spinning stools (RIP bad backs). Very pricy.

This is our " go-to" spot for Korean BBQ. Everything is always so fresh and so good. The owners and staff are always so nice and very attentive . I would highly recommend !

What a waste of our money. The quality of food was not acceptable. We ordered the beef and pork combination. They didn't bleed out the beef, it was "gamey". The meat was C grade, leathery! The portions were huge huge but the food was not tasty. We didn't even eat half of our bbq. In addition, the service was bad, slow~we had to ask the server four times for ice. It seemed as if she was working on her own schedule. I am never going back to this place.
