"San Antonio chef Steve McHugh’s restaurant Las Bis, located inside the Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin, closed on January 1, 2024." - Nadia Chaudhury
"After chef Steve McHugh left in January, the Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin has a new executive chef, Iain Reddick — previously executive sous chef at the Driskill and with roles at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach (including executive chef at its restaurant Shor) — and the hotel’s ground-floor restaurant Luminaire and rooftop bar Las Bis have been renamed 8th & Congress and the rooftop bar, respectively." - Nadia Chaudhury
"After both the chef-led restaurant and rooftop bar closed on January 1, 2024, the downtown hotel's website removed references to those concepts and now lists the dining spaces as a generic “rooftop bar” and the “8th & Congress” restaurant, which are currently serving general American food and beverages. A hotel representative confirmed that the property and Landrace Group, LLC decided to part ways, thanked the chef for the collaboration, and said the existing restaurant and bar will be turned into new concepts to be announced later." - Nadia Chaudhury
" If you want a turkey-based meal but don’t necessarily want it exactly on Thanksgiving Day, Luminaire at 8th and Congress will be offering a special three-course menu from the 23rd-25th during the restaurant’s typical opening hours. The $55 per person meal includes a turkey plate with smoked vegetables, chicory salad, and an olive oil tres leches cake. Reservations are required. Price: $55 per person" - nicolai mccrary
"And then, up on the eighth floor is Las Bis, the bar with a nice patio overlooking downtown Austin. The space is a bar first, but McHugh didn’t want food to be an afterthought. He and his wife and business partner Sylvia traveled to Barcelona years ago where they dined at tapas restaurant Quimet & Quimet, and were enamored with the conservas. Since then, “we’ve always had this idea to create a bar or restaurant that worked with tins,” he says. It worked for Las Bis, since they wanted to make food that was easy to prepare and serve. This means plated tin options from Jose Gourmet, Fishwife, Conservas de Cambados, and others." - Nadia Chaudhury
