"In early February, Masia, a Spanish restaurant from the team behind the lauded Portland standby Ataula, opened in downtown’s new Hyatt Centric hotel. Chef and co-owner Jose Chesa was especially excited to slice and serve jamon iberico for the hotel’s many banquet and private dining rooms, some of which seat more than 100 hundred people." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
"Masia, the newest venture by chef Jose Chesa and his team, opens for dinner service on Valentine's Day. Located within the new Hyatt Centric, the restaurant has been serving breakfast and sandwiches to hotel guests. The design blends rustic and industrial aesthetics, featuring murals by local artists. The menu merges traditional Spanish dishes with creative twists, offering items like customizable tortillas españolas, churros, patatas bravas, and a unique salt cod beignet. Masia aims to be an inclusive, casual gourmet spot, serving a range of meals from breakfast to dinner with a homey, classic touch." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
"Masia, named for a style of Spanish and French farmhouse, is a 3,000 square-foot Spanish restaurant serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant will take up the entire ground floor, complete with a Spanish-style coffee bar and market. The more casual, grab-and-go market will serve things like pastries, ham and cheese bocadillos — sandwiches — and Spanish egg-based tortillas; that space will live in the hotel lobby. The interior will involve lots of stone, communal tables, and clean, simple lines. The space will have two beautiful murals made by local artists incorporating the shared inspiration between Portland and Spain. Plus, the restaurant will have an open kitchen, with a chef’s table to the side that diners can reserve. Masia will have a traditional cocktail bar and an extensive collection of vermouth with a vermouth-specific happy hour. The breakfast menu will feature bacon-and-eggs paella, and the dessert menu will include churros from a previously closed churro cafe, 180." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
