"A corner guest room transformed into a Roaring Twenties–inspired speakeasy that guests access by reserving and receiving a password via text; the front desk then provides an unmarked key. Decorated with retro lamps and vintage artwork, the compact space emphasizes intimacy and conversation, offering a swanky, period-evocative setting and carefully crafted cocktails that set it apart from larger South Florida bars." - Matt Kirouac

"The latest pandemic pivot in South Florida is the new hotel room turned “speakeasy” inside Hyatt Centric Las Olas Fort Lauderdale called 901, which features a bartender-in-residence program that invites bars from around the U.S. that are currently closed or struggling to pop-up in the space. The intimate bar features serious 1920s Prohibition vibes — with bookshelves lined with vintage titles, a record player, velvet furniture, antique artifacts, and artwork — and only seats up to six guests at a time, bookable by reservation only. Upon arrival guests are given a password to get a key, then asked to look for the red light next to an unmarked door at the end of the hallway on the hotel’s 9th floor and knock twice to enter. The menu at 901 features cocktails and cuisine created just for the space by executive chef Greg McGowan like lobster rolls, bone marrow, and duck fat fried potatoes with truffle crème fraiche. Additionally it also features a variety of pop-ups from local and national bartenders with different themes." - Olee Fowler
