"We get it. You can’t imagine giving up your syrupy sweet St*rbucks order, perfected over the last 20 years. But trust us, Hype Cafe knows how to make frappes you’ll never forget—and it’ll even save you a little bread in the process. The perfectly sweet caramel beverage is made with Ethiopian coffee, and the cotton candy version is completely coffee-free—just ice cream and raspberry syrup. The Capitol Hill spot is huge, so there’s plenty of room to spread out and avoid the people who brought their kids with them while you’re trying to pay attention to the Zoom call that should’ve been an email. Went to this cafe as a quick stop in the day to get some coffee. It's a small comfortable little cafe. I was very surprised to see they had some Vegetarian Ethiopian dishes too. Very quick stop but I loved the atmosphere and the great service.

Laid back neighborhood cafe near Eastern Market with sizable menu of coffee, pastries, breakfast and some vegetarian Ethiopian fare at reasonable prices. Ample seating includes couches, bar and tables with a nice view of Pennsylvania Ave. Reliable wifi on top of it all.

Decently fast service and the ladies were nice. I got a bacon egg and cheese croissant which was nice and buttery. The mocha was very chocolatey which I liked. The other sandwich was okay, nothing special about it, it was a salmon one.

Loved the 4 hours that I spent at Hype Cafe today. The Ethiopian espresso drinks were fantastic, and the vegetarian Ethiopian lunch food was delicious. Highly recommend. Oh, and I was able to get hours of work done and online meetings too.

Coffee was not even acceptable, even though it was a "Capuchino" service is terrible, prices , over rated ,place needs some cleaning, and the smell is likean old drawer. Bought a Cheesecake and a red Velvet too old and rancid taste, hope don't get sick, considering we just ate a little piece

Stumbled upon this hidden gem while looking for a coffee shop I could work out of. Don't expect the rarefied ambience and prices of the Tattes of the world. Interiors are basic but adequate. Food and drinks are great value, fresh and delicious. My cup of tea was served in a size larger than most DC coffee shops, and the Ethiopian vegetarian platter kept me full for hours. WiFi was fast. Coffee in DC is expensive but prices here were very reasonable. Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood.

I almost didn't post a review because this place is a hidden neighborhood gem and I don't want yall to overrun it. But this place is too good to keep to myself I got the foul breakfast, ham egg and cheese croissant, mocha, and a pound of coffee. The place is quiet, Sammy is super cool, and it's cute spot. The foul is so delightfully good! Its a mixture of lentis, goat cheese, tomatoes, bell peppers and bread on the side. Everything blends together so beautifully Go there now. Hours are 8-6.

We were in town for Labor Day weekend. My husband and I came here for a light bite and just to visit maybe get some work done. The atmosphere was great and the service, awesome! We didn't know that they also serve a limited Ethiopian food menu! Next time we are in town I will come back for food 😊
