A low‑frills Olivette favorite where careful nigiri and classic rolls anchor the menu. Riverfront Times highlights its quietly loyal following; diners appreciate the precise rice work, warm service, and fair pricing for generous boats and chirashi.

Went for take out and will definitely be back. The portions are large, the food is great and the service is wonderful. You will leave full and satisfied!

Presentation was disappointing, looked nothing like the pictures I seen online. The taste was so bad a got rid of it, couldn’t stomach to finish it. It tasted expired or like it’s wasn’t properly refrigerated and went bad. After eating I unfortunately have been vomiting and other things I can’t mention here.

We stopped in while waiting for a jewelry repair being done nearby. Although this place isn’t much from the outside, it is clean and has a great setup inside. We ordered a few rolls, salads, and soup. Service was quick! We had everything on our table within 12 min! The rolls were absolutely delicious! ** Side note, some very demanding women came in while we were eating and gave the waiter a pretty hard time. Despite these women and their aggressive nature, this particular waiter and the rest of the staff was very patient and kind. I can’t say I would’ve held it together the way the staff did. I was thoroughly impressed with the way they handled themselves.

I have eaten at this Sushi restaurant for years off and on. Today I had a hankering for Sushi and I said to myself, "Let's see if I LOVE Mr.Sushi is still good." And guess what, it was!!! I got a rainbow roll and it has crab, salmon, shrimp and snapperwith cucumber and avocado. I ALWAYS order lots of Wasabi and Ginger. I actually ordered online, and they gave me exactly what I requested, and it was fresh and so delicious! If you haven't been there, please don't miss out on this delicious sushi. They have so much variety also. It was so very fresh and good. They also still have friendly, fast service.

Google
This was a last minute choice while a friend and I were in the area. Such a phenomenal find! The service was great! The serve we had was very kind and patient. She brought our appetizer quickly and the food came just as quick. The sushi rolls are HUGE! I mean for the price we paid it was a really great find. I’ve been to several sushi spots and I know what we got would have costed a whole lot more. I highly recommend this place for Sushi. You won’t be disappointed. Check the picture!

Google
The food at Mr. Sushi was absolutely delicious, but I had a major issue with billing that I can't overlook. My total for two people was $74. I tipped $10, so I expected to be charged $84. Two days later when I checked my statement, they had charged me $100 - that's $16 more than what I authorized. The customer service was already just okay, but having my tip inflated after the fact is completely unacceptable. If you eat here, pay with cash or make sure to check your bank statement a few days later. I won't be returning because of this.

Google
The man running the restaurant was very rude on the phone and when I came in to pick up and I also ended up with a very upset stomach. I would definitely not eat the tuna from here or probably anything at all. Even the miso soup was watery and had very little seaweed or tofu.

Google
Having lived nearby for over 10 years, this was my go-to place for delicious sushi for a fair price and I still come to eat here when I visit. It's a nice, quiet location. Clean. Friendly staff and prompt service. We tried a variety of rolls and the top 3 rolls that received a deep nod of approval were the Mexican roll, Red Dragon, and the Caterpillar. If you're a drinker, highly recommend the Haiku Premium sake. It has a very, very subtle grape flavor and goes down like water.

Yelp
This is my favorite sushi spot in STL. They have been around for years. The service is quick and efficient. The decor is inviting and the place is clean. The sushi is fresh and the udon is delightfully chewy. The miso soup is a must.

Yelp
I got take-out the other night and ended up eating cereal instead because it was so disappointing. The rolls are enormous, but that's not a positive in my book. They became messy and fell apart. The quality of the fish felt like mall food court crap. Most of the leftovers went in the compost. I will never eat from here again. It was tasteless, sad, and unsatisfying.

Yelp
In the middle of a small shopping center. This place is a delight. Over all quick service. Don't forget the mochi ice cream it's the best part!!

Yelp
It's a very small sushi place on Olive. I always came here during lunch time, so I saw many people ordered takeout more than people dined in. Service has been great and quick. I usually called to place order, and my orders have been always ready by promised time (10-15 minutes depending on how big my order was). Today I got the Dynamite and caterpillar rolls without cucumber. My usual order is Spicy Spider or Negi Hamachi. Overall, a decent place for a quick lunch or sushi fix.

Yelp
We decided to try this place out again. I went here a while back but my boyfriend has never been. This place has two other couple here when we went. The server was quick and food did not take long to come out. The sushi itself was full of rice and very little fish. It is something I expected at a AYCE place. At a sit down and order sushi place I want a bigger fish portion with minimum rice. The fish quality is just average for me.

Yelp
The food was amazing. Took a little time to pickup. And the price is reasonable great location.

Yelp
Check out my reviews, I rarely if ever leave anything less than 5. Some 4s but this could be one of 2 ever ratings of 1-2 stars. Here's my issue: I am ordering sushi, which should be fish and other ingredients plus a little rice. These are rice with a little fish/other ingredients. At the cost of the rolls (special rolls on DoorDash are around $21) this is absurd. Some reviews say "good bang for your buck" etc. Sure, if you consider rice a good value. No joke, we ordered 5 rolls and after de-ricing them to make the sushi rolls more like...sushi rolls...what was left was roughly a pound or more of rice. If you are trying to fill up on rice with a little bit of fish, then this would be a good place for you. What I don't understand is the fish was good quality, it's just a bunch of extra rice in there that overrides the main thing you were trying to eat. I don't get it. 5 rolls, delivery (free with Dashpass) tax tip $70. We are now eating chips/crackers to not be hungry when we sleep

Yelp
My favorite sushi spot it's like my little hidden gem ! The staff is always kind and the sushi is even better. It's a cute little restaurant very cozy. 10/10 I recommend the fried crabragoon roll

Yelp
Was really good at a reasonable price! Was very satisfied with the service and the quality of the food

Yelp
It is my second time at this restaurant. The restaurant is cleaned and organized. It was not crowded even though the weekend. It is good place for family and friends gatherings. No rushing from the staff. We had dinner over hours. The sushi were fresh and delicious. I will definitely come back again soon.

Yelp
So I've had sushi maybe ten times in my life, and finally I decided I'm just not a sushi fan. Years have passed and I've lived without it, until today. Today I was prodded into trying it again and I thank the heavens I was. This place is amazing! Huge portions, fast service, high quality ingredients. I've seen the light and will go nowhere else, only Mr Sushi! I'm a fan!
google avatar

Matthew M.

Yelp
I used to love this place, and I guess since the pandemic, they just stopped caring about the customer and decided to focus on the bare minimum to get by. I wish that wasn't the case because it's so close to home, but I won't be going back.

Emily M.

Yelp
The sushi was absolutely top tier, this is our new favorite hidden gem! Nice and quaint with the kindest service. Can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Yelp
Let's add insult to injury... Besides the horrible experience we had with the delivery and we called to tell them what they forgot one item... the person who couldn't speak English called today. To step back... We eventually called the delivery company and ask for half of our money back because after missing one item we realized we were missing another and two items were horrible... Falling apart and tasteless. So today they called me to yell at me and tell me how they didn't make any money on my order... Too bad so sad horribly inappropriate!! As you can see from their other reviews it's either wonderful or horrible take your chances!!
google avatar

Yelp
This is our "regular" for any night my husband and I want sushi! The rolls are incredible. Our favorite is the Crab Rangoon roll that's been on their Today's Special menu for a long time. It's SO good! Also, they do not skimp on the rolls. They're big! The interior isn't much; they mostly do take out. And their website is old and a little finicky sometimes. But totally worth it for the cost and taste!
google avatar

Mimi G.

Yelp
The prices are pretty good but the quality is not consistent. I have come here twice now both during the covid 19 crisis. The rolls I've gotten are huge which you would think would be great because your getting a lot for your money. But then you remember Sushi is supposed to be delicate and a different eating experience than normal American cuisine. (Bigger the better) You should not have to take multiple bites out of a piece of sushi. These are good don't get me wrong but I think the owner and chef need to reconsider how they present their food and they would their business could really do great. Overall good but I wish places like this would put more passion in their food! The playboy Roll I didn't take a picture of was the best roll I got (no rice but too much sauce) I will try this place again though!
google avatar

Beck E.

Yelp
The name of this restaurant is so cute, I couldn't help but stop in for some Friday night sushi! The service was very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Most of the rolls were bigger than I was expecting, which is a good problem to have. I got to try the spicy tuna roll, salmon avocado roll (thought I ordered spicy salmon but could be wrong), yellowtail & scallion roll, cucumber roll, and pink panther roll. All of them were tasty. I do wish the side salad and miso soup would come standard with a large enough order.

Brittney J.

Yelp
This place is definitely a hidden gem in olivette. This is a local mom & pop place, not a chain and every time I go there I am so pleasantly impressed with the prices, service and portion! Most sushi places have small rolls, not I love Mr. Sushi! The shop itself is small but it is always pretty full, and the food is fresh! P. S their fried "I love Mr. Sushi" roll is my favorite
google avatar

Mobin M.

Yelp
I came here for my birthday about a month and half ago. Let me tell you this place is amazing!!! It's small spot but the service and quality of the sushi is outstanding. We order four different types of roll, one being a tiger roll and fried Philly rolls. The tiger was considered one of the "jumbo rolls" which was huge. Everything came out quick and the taste of all four sushi rolls were phenomenal.
google avatar

Nicholas M.

Yelp
The food was VERY delicious, however the service was less than par and the soda comes in individual bottles, so no refills
google avatar

Kaitlyn S.

Yelp
I love this place. I come here for lunch during work and I haven't had something I didn't like so far. I would recommend them if you like sushi!
google avatar

Rader S.

Yelp
Not good. I hadn't been to this place in several years. My previous experiences were always excellent. Things have changed. Generally the sushi wasn't good. The fish was kind of warm and not very fresh tasting. The spicy tuna roll was not like any spicy tuna roll I have ever seen before. It also possessed no spiciness, at all. Unfortunately I have to strike this place off of my list.
google avatar

Camille C.

Yelp
Upon entering we were gruffly told to seat ourselves. Our server attempted to take our order but he couldn't speak English. Even after pointing to what we wanted in the menu we still received the wrong items, and given no apology/. The salad and miso soup that came with the lunch special were both quite salty. The sushi was just ok. The sushi rice was strangely sweet. I would have given 1 star but I gave an extra star for the generous portions of fish for the nigiri.
google avatar

Alexander C.

Yelp
Ordered the don (chicken) for takeout and I enjoyed my meal...they gave me extra portions since it was closer to closing time Polite staff, mom and pop shop kinda restaurant. Will come back
google avatar

Abigail L.

Yelp
No photos because we ate so quickly! But, needed to grab some lunch wanted something Different. Decided to grab some sushi, so I pulled up their menu on Yelp, and they have 2 types of lunch specials. The first are about 6 or 8 different types of rolls and these babies are big! And full of nummy goodness. The second option is a green salad with a lovely ginger dressing and a bowl of miso soup along with your choice of sushi and sashimi offered. Or you can simply order off the menu ! We were out so drove over placed our order, answered headed home in10 min. When we got home, everything was beautifully packed. And delicious. My roll was so big I had half left over !

Yelp
When I got to Mr. Sushi, the sushi was pretty good. I have been to a couple of sushi places around town and the Sushi seems like it's about half the size of this portion. Here at Mr. Sushi, I got a better portion size per serving and good quality Sushi at about the same price if not cheaper. I hope they don't change what they are doing. I was able to enjoy some delicious sushi! I really did enjoy the sushi selection as well. Mr. Sushi shares the parking lot but there is plenty of room. When you arrive you sit anywhere you want. They typically greet you when you come in and they will bring you a menu. Mr. Sushi offers cooked Sushi and they offer raw sushi and they offer sake ( Rice Wine) I believe I will have a couple of those! The service was good and a beautiful presentation of the sushi. I have no problems with anything at Mr. Sush! at the time I went they got a little probably was on a Saturday but otherwise Moreover, as far as the menue sushi, you can change the type of fish with it. I went with the ones that came on the menu and it was delicious. They have a variety of fish to fit your palate. I highly recommend you give Mr. Sushi a chance.
google avatar

Molly S.

Yelp
Worst sushi I have had in years. Quality of the sushi is so bad. The man that is taking your order grunts at you and walks away half way through you asking questions. I guess with all the great reviews Saint Louis doesn't know what sushi is supposed to be like!?
google avatar

HeiYoung P.

Yelp
Great place for takeout sushi! Always have fresh Sea urchin/Uni. I always call before I go to make sure they have fresh uni. Owner and chef the whole staff very friendly!
google avatar

Zach H.

Yelp
Pretty weird exp. I wanted to try the Tonkotsu ramen but was told I shouldn't get it? Lol... that I wouldn't like it and I should get the other ramen. I was kind of thrown off by the situation but tried to enjoy the meal nonetheless. The crispy roll was pretty good. Wish they had a happy hour here their sushi kind of pricey.

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
This is one of the worst experiences i have had and I am a frequent sushi eater. They made me feel like I was bothering them for showing up for dinner right from the start. You seat yourself, you get your menu, you chase someone down to order. Never got any water after asking twice. Rolls are mainly rice... my salmon/avacado roll had no avacado. Had to chase down for a 2nd glass of wine, all the wine is $5. Honestly I wouldn't waste your time here, worst restaurant experience I've had. Explained it to them and didn't even discount the roll after I spoke to the owner, she just said they're busy with take out. Sorry but not ever coming back here.

Maddog S.

Yelp
Wow. I love their sushi, and their prices are very reaonable! This is one of those no frills place where the focus is on food and service quality. They have a good selection of sushi and cooked food alike. I will definitely be coming back.

Halston H.

Yelp
I'd like to give it a 3 star, but 1.) the menu doesn't reflect the food I got "fresh greens" are different then lettuce in my book. So I wasted food and money and both of those are negative. Then my noodles came out burnt, really chewy, not soft and firm. The sushi was poorly rolled, good rice, but it fell apart, you guys are a sushi house abs no love goes into food prep? I also ran out of water half way through my meal abs I haven't seen my waiter in 10 mins. 23$ for terrible food and terrible service I had to change my review because of how bad it was I pray I never come here again.
google avatar

Camelia M.

Yelp
Huge rolls! Super tasty and great portion for the price. Always a decent presentation and fresh.
google avatar

Lee S.

Yelp
Never have I ever had a bad experience here. This place is our family's go to for sushi. We love the quiet ambiance inside and fresh, perfectly rolled sushi, even the tempura style Crab Rangoon Roll. Definitely a must if your in the area for authentic sushi!!
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
If you want a quick lunch nice, simple and quick, this is the place for you. Free parking. Easy to get to right on Olive boulevard. Service is OK. One middle age woman running around like a chicken without a head taking care all the tables. My lunch was average. Nothing here to be praised, or complain about. Lunch around $15.
google avatar

Virgina W.

Yelp
This place is DELICIOUS! my favorite is the chef special. Good service, clean eating area, and good prices.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
Yuck! That's my reaction to dinner. I can't think of one thing that wasn't gross here. I came here off a "friend's" recommendation. Clearly, that person wasn't a friend. So it is located in a strip mall. Doesn't look special from the outside or in. I walk in and seat myself. I order water and look over the menu. Thebwaiter comes to take my order. The water had a dirty taste. I'm not sure if it has to do with the city or what. I couldn't drink the water. I ordered a lemonade and they were out. I then ordered my sushi and edamame. I don't know how you screw up edamame, but this place did. My edamame taste like it had been microwaved. I know that's not a great explanation, but it just didn't taste good. Then I waited for my sushi. The wait was pretty long. When my sushi arrived I was surprised by the size. It was massive. Normally I like a lot of food, but large sushi doesn't feel right. I tried it and surprise surprise- it taste like mush. I later when home and made myself vomit. I had to get the gross sushi taste out of my month. I wouldn't give this food to my dog.
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
I've read the reviews complaining about the staff/ownership and to that I say, be quiet and eat your delicious food! It was great! The salad dressing was yummy, rolls were flavorful and nicely prepared, soup wasn't overly salty. For those griping about the ethnicity of those serving, y'all are a bunch of low key racists and you should probably go to the McDonald's up the street and leave the hard working people of ILMS alone.
google avatar

Wayne A.

Yelp
This is not sushi. What I got was some loosely rolled up mush. I could not eat more than one bite of that. The rolls were oversized with so much rice and a TON of sauce on it. Don't go here if you like SUSHI!!
google avatar

Jamya V.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite sushi restaurant. The sushi is excellent. I can never remember what I ordered to assign it to the pictures. But the crab Rangoon roll is delicious as well as the Su roll and shrimp tempura roll (get cream cheese added). The people are nice as well. Can't wait to get another "let's get sushi" text.
google avatar

Max M.

Yelp
A little known secret. A gem. Mighty fine mighty fine. Fresh. Generous serving. Consistently carries the goods.

Jas S.

Yelp
The mussels I ordered have hair on them. You're supposed to clean and scrap off the hair. Also my salmon rolls are rolls they are just one big slab of salmon and one rice also the breaded shrimp I ordered was just one little shrimp packed in plastic rap! This is a sad excuse for sushi!
google avatar

Philip M.

Yelp
I love it here. Ate twice and invited my girlfriend. Only tried two meals. Looking forward to trying more. I love the fact that it's a friendly feeling and a lot of different types of people walk in. If you're Asian, expect the lady to treat you like you are her son or nephew, and not at the ratio of a customer of potential influence. The place is clean. The flies has been in the restaurant every time I come in. But maybe because that was the summer time. Haven't ate there in the winter time. The food was great! It's located in a plaza not too busy. But it can be crowded for those small parking areas. It has nice blinds to protect your Japanese zen environment
google avatar

Casadee C.

Yelp
This was some of the best sushi I have EVER had. We got Wasabi Crunch, Yummy Roll, Crab Rangoon Roll, and fried Mr.Sushi. It was all absolutely incredible and I would accidentally end up going here every day but luckily it's about a 40 minute drive for me
google avatar

Mel A.

Yelp
I've been here several times and I have to say, this is probably my favorite place for sushi in the area. First of all, they have wonderful service and it is always that way. I've been here during dinner hours, when they were busy and not so busy, and at lunch time. I happened upon this place when I felt like having some sushi but did not feel like calling my go to place to see if they had any available tables or taking a chance and driving there, then waiting for maybe 20-40 minutes for a table while I starve slowly to near death. Anyway, I found this place on yelp, perused through a couple of reviews and decided to drive on over. The first time, they had maybe a couple of tables worth of people so it was pretty quiet for a Friday night. The waitress was very gracious, brought some water and the menu right away. I tried quite a bit of their menu just because I was hooked the first time but I have to say, their rolls are huge and if you are at all like me, with eyes bigger than my stomach, you'll end up ordering way more than you can eat. One roll fills me up which is usually not the case with other sushi places I've visited. Trust me, they are bigger than anywhere I've been to but delicious and flavorful. For appetizers, my new favorite there might have to be the tempura soft shell crab. It comes with a whole soft shell crab split in half and fried separately, a generous sampling of vegetable tempura, and of course, some special dipping sauce. I've also tried their shrimp shumai, fried gyoza, seaweed salad, and squid salad. They were all delicious! I am not even going to name all the rolls I've tried because there's too many but I always try to get anything that has soft shell crab or crabmeat in general. The best thing about this place is that it is very budget-friendly. I can't believe how inexpensive some of the rolls are especially after seeing how big they are when they bring them to the table.

Rebecca S.

Yelp
A bit pricey but very fresh and generous portions. What I didn't like is the parking lot which is very dark for a woman travelling alone at night.
google avatar

Jaz M.

Yelp
I visit this place once a couple months as it's pretty good and reasonably priced. The lady who takes orders is a lil snippy. Has issues giving extra condiments and doesn't say you're welcome when thanked. I'd go more often if that wasn't the case.
google avatar

Caitlyn P.

Yelp
I just ordered carryout from here for the first time (July 17, 2019) and I will be back, I think. It was not my favorite, but it was overall pretty good. I ordered a spicy salmon roll, and an avocado roll. The avocado roll was very standard, perfectly acceptable. No real comments here. The spicy salmon was a rather large-diameter roll. It had lots of salmon in it (which tasted fine, fresh and plenty of it -- they don't skimp!) as well as avocado and cucumber. Interestingly, they make the "spicy" part of a spicy salmon roll a little differently than most sushi places, using a seasoning mix (like maybe a furikake mix, with sesame seeds and chili powder in it) instead of the more common mayo + sriracha (or equivalent hot sauce). It tasted pretty good and was well balanced. A note though, one end of my roll was not cut very well and so it resulted in an absolutely massive end piece (which for me was a downside, but idk, maybe some people love big end pieces). Like I said, I'll probably be back, and will try some other menu items. The restaurant itself seemed nice, had a nice lunchtime atmosphere when I stepped in, and the place is well decorated and pleasant smelling (like green tea and sushi, a surprisingly nice smell). While it wasn't the best sushi I've ever had, it was definitely good enough for me to order again. If/when I come back, I'll update this review with further info! I really wanna give this place another try.

Yelp
This is now my favorite sushi place in Stl. The rolls are very large/generous. They have some great recipes unique to their restaurant. The miso soup is really good. Service is fast. My favorite rolls are the pizza, shrimp, and crab Rangoon.
