I live on the side of the building next to the train tracks. This fact becomes very apparent when trains come whizzing by and honking extremely loudly at EVERY hour of the night (they're legally required to honk before driving into a train station or something, Union Station is close by so they honk right where i5 is before driving into the station), this happens multiple times every single day and night. VERY annoying. I know i5 can't do much about this (other than get more soundproofed windows on this side, *ahem*) but just for people to be aware of this. i5 doesn't seem to be very strict with the bi-weekly cleaning schedule recently either, they've come maybe once in the past month, which isn't great when you didn't luck out on the cleanest roommates. This brings me to the next part, you have absolutely no say or chance to even know your roommates before your move-in day. If you don't get along or they don't clean or anything, it's your problem. When I moved in the place was a complete mess with grime everywhere (I had an extremely messy and almost hoarding-like roommate the first couple months), so I spent about 8 hours deep cleaning the entire place with my family when I moved in (I attached some photos of the place before move in. Scuffs on everything and just damage and mold looking spots). The apartment is extremely small as well for 3 people and has one bathroom and a small hallway-style kitchen and no living room to speak of. All of this for $1500 of rent per month!!! It's like a highway robbery out here. There is a small circular table with 2 chairs next to it and the floorboards were water damaged by a previous tenant which left me with broken floorboards with massive gaps for months (since they didn't respond to the first 5 work orders I put out). The benefits of this place are clear: a pretty good gym, nice pool (which is closed half of the year), and a nice enough penthouse lounge area (which is also a weird space to be alone in, so many people only use it to study or hang out with others. I've maybe used it a handful of times in the 10 months I've been here and I can almost guarantee you won't go up there alone to chill if you decide to live here). I don't think co-living here is truly worth the hassle and price since I guarantee you can find something cheaper somewhere else if you look hard enough. A standalone apartment might be more worth it if that's in your price range.

Living at I5 Union Market has been the most disturbing experience I’ve ever had in any apartment. My unit was broken into, and someone attempted to sexually assault my roommate. That same individual later shot at police officers in the building and was shot by law enforcement. This building has a long track record of serious safety issues — including a horrifying incident where someone killed and mutilated a cat inside the property. There is no reliable security, and management has shown little to no concern for resident safety or well-being. Instead of being supportive during traumatic events, the leasing manager, Monelle, was incredibly unhelpful, rude, and dismissive — to the point of being outright disrespectful. Her lack of empathy and professionalism made a horrible situation even worse. To make matters worse, the environment is chaotic — it feels more like a college dorm than an apartment community. There are kids running around unsupervised at all hours, and constant noise in the hallways. Avoid this place at all costs. I5 Union Market is dangerous, mismanaged, and emotionally draining. Management does not care about residents, and it shows. I would never recommend this building to anyone.

In my opinion, one of the most important things in an apartment complex is how quick and effective the maintenance team is. That said, Kent (Head of maintenance) is easily the most thorough, knowledgeable and transparent individuals I’ve met. He tells you exactly what’s up and how he can help, often going above and beyond whenever you can. i5 is truly lucky to have him!!

Would give this building zero stars if I could. Worst living experience I've ever had. Leasing office folks have been consistently disappointing, unprofessional, and unaccommodating. I moved out in mid-June and the leasing office sent me a "move-out acknowledgement letter" in April stating my pro-rated rent balance due for June. I paid the stated amount on time and confirmed with a leasing agent that my account balance was good to go when I turned my keys in. Two weeks AFTER I moved out, the account manager emailed me surprising me with a $400 surcharge with zero explanation, forcing me to take the time to call the leasing office and figure out where this outstanding balance is coming from. Turns out the leasing team can't do math and miscalculated my June pro-rated rent and was now chasing me for an extra $400 that wasn't outlined in the official documentation they sent me in April. I found it very unprofessional of the leasing staff to be putting me in this distressing situation AFTER I moved out and allowing a whole 76 days to elapse between the date they sent me the move-out acknowledgement letter and the date they "corrected" their error. I tried asking them to accommodate me with at least a partial discount since this was entirely their fault, but the leasing staff was dismissive and was just like "yes it was our error but hey we found the error 2.5 months later! So pay us the full updated amount and we won't accommodate you whatsoever!" And that wasn't my first time experiencing a lack of accountability from the leasing office. I lived in a co-living unit and when my first roommate moved out, I emailed the leasing office asking when my next roommate will move in. The leasing office replied assuring me that they'll notify me before my next roommate moves in. They never contacted me and I got zero heads up before my next roommate showed up at my door to move in. In my experience, the leasing office folks are consistently negligent and apathetic, and I've oftentimes gotten better customer service from the concierge at the front desk. I'll give you another example. I don't recommend co-living for a number of reasons, but if you're considering co-living and are drawn to the perk that you get toiletries (paper towels and toilet paper) included in your rent, just know that the cleaning staff will only give you a limited supply every 2 weeks and if you run out, there's no way to contact the cleaning staff to restock your supply. The leasing office doesn't care and told me "it's a fixed amount and we can't offer you any more toilet paper if you run out." So just be warned that this is the type of cold response you can expect from the leasing office, based on firsthand experience. On multiple occasions, my co-living unit was without toilet paper for up to 5 days. I won't go too much in detail about my terrible co-living experience but... do NOT do co-living if you care about your mental health!!! Please be warned that the co-living units are extremely small/compact and you and your roommate will likely have bedrooms that are right next to each other and sharing a wall. Therefore, you will hear EVERYTHING going on in your roommate's room. You are out of luck if you have roommates who like to blast music on their Amazon Alexa, bring guests over frequently, and talk on the phone all day (I experienced all of these issues with my roommates). Also be warned that roommates are completely random, so if you're female it's a 50/50 chance that your roommate is male, and you probably won't have the same cleanliness and temperature/thermostat preferences as your roommate. So keep that in mind! In conclusion, co-living is not worth throwing away your mental health for! It's highkey also a scam because the price is too high for the little space that you get. For young professionals looking for a place to stay in DC, I recommend renting in a rowhome/group house with a private landlord. That'll save you money and you won't have to pay all the extra fees and deal with the bureaucracy and unprofessionalism of leasing staff.

I've enjoyed living at i5 apartments. I have a one bedroom apartment and it's just right for work and living. The amenities include coffee machine, pool, gym with all equipment you need are just a few. Located near union market shops and restaurants also the metro is only a walk away. The management is great and the maintenance and cleaning crew always keep up with repairs and cleanliness

Hello! I left an initial review when I first moved into i5 Union Market – CoLiving, and now I’m sharing a quick update after moving out, having lived there for a year. Overall, it's a solid short-term option. Here are the main pros and cons from my experience: Pros: 1. Friendly staff and tenants 2. Stylish building with great amenities (pool, shared spaces, etc.) 3. Shoutout to Sylvana and the cleaning team — regular cleanings made life easier. 4. More affordable rent compared to much of DC Cons: 1.Very noisy — trains and city sounds were constant. 2. Wifi was unreliable in my room and sometimes in shared areas. 3. Leasing communication was inconsistent — I had to follow up often. 4. Security felt lax despite fob entry. Other notes: - i5 not under DC rent control — my rent jumped $200–$400 when renewing. - Rooftop/event spaces cost extra to rent. Thanks to the i5 team — hope this helps others considering a move!

I absolutely love living here! The community is welcoming, the management team is responsive and friendly, and the amenities are fantastic. The apartment itself is modern, well-maintained, and feels like home. The location is also super convenient, with everything I need close by. I couldn’t be happier with my choice to live here! Shout out to Monchelle, Ashley, Nicole and Mike ! Oh and all the cleaning staff !! You all are great ! Thank you!

Yelp
Updating my review due to reflect the change of staffing in the leasing office. Since Sam and Justine left at the end of 2020, the leasing office has gone from a 5-star experience to a 1-star experience. It took tweeting at Bozzuto corporate to finally get my lease renewal offer after a full month of trying to get it directly from the leasing office (and also a full month after I was required to give notice if I was moving, per the current lease). I then had to wait another month (until the day before my lease was set to expire) to receive my actual new lease to sign, and only received that after tweeting at Bozzuto corporate AGAIN. I've lived in several other buildings in my decade in DC and have never received such procrastinated/delayed service from a leasing office before and I'm sure they're losing tenants this way. I've overheard a couple people say they were moving to other buildings just up the street instead. There's also other small issues, like them not approving posts to the building's resident portal (virtual bulletin board) rendering it useless for the past several months. Since I agreed to renew, the building has also experienced a ton of really inconvenient service disruptions recently. A few weeks ago there was a scheduled power outage all morning on a Monday (which started late and ran until almost 2pm when so many people are still working from home). Then the building's internet went out for an entire weekend and several random weekdays, which affects things like package notifications, freight elevator reservations, and internet connection on the gym machines like the Peloton -- not to mention anyone who relies on the apartments' built-in wifi. Yesterday we were notified that there would be an emergency water shutoff all day today, from 8am-4pm (could this not have been done overnight?). To make matters worse, management never notified us that the work was finished until I inquired because the water pressure never came back in my kitchen. I was told by the front desk that maintenance would come up to look (do they not believe me? It was clearly a result of the water shutoff), and they never showed up, nor was the issue resolved. So now I will continue not having adequate water in my sink tonight. Also, anyone planning to take a concession should be prepared to pay it back in full if you break the lease. This is not disclosed anywhere until you receive your lease (which they aren't sending in a timely fashion based on my experience and other reviews, so that's not helpful). The cleaning staff is still great but as someone in a google review mentioned, the carpets in the hallways are all disgustingly stained (and that's not something the staff can deal with without special equipment -- they do keep-up all the hard surfaces and the gym really well). Things like carpets and windows have not been cleaned once in the year I've lived here. The building really needs to hire a service for those. I have not used the pool at all since I moved in, but I plan to try during a weekday now that the pandemic is settling down. On weekends, some party promoter(?) hosts pool parties on the roof and promotes his clothing line (which frankly looks like club/escort service branding), despite the lease saying business shouldn't be conducted in the apartment unless it has been authorized. It's not clear if he actually knows his guests or if they're just random strangers he's invited into the building. I'm not comfortable with that, so I've avoided the roof on weekends. [You can see i5 tagged in all these posts on Instagram.] Otherwise, the apartments themselves are still nice and the location can't be beat. The front desk staff is great and I can't speak highly enough of Nicole, Wanda, and the others. The gym is well-kept. Bumping down to 3-stars to reflect the large decline in management between 2020 to 2021.

Yelp
They don't care for your safety, the only reason I got out alive is because after 5 months of abuse I finally started to make it i5's problem. They moved me into a co-living unit of an insane person WHO THEY WERE IN THE PROCESS OF EVICTING. She harassed me for 7 months, even starting a fire in our apartment, but staff refused to do anything other than send her more eviction notices. She put a screeching sound on full blast with her door closed then left, when I brought staff to turn it off, they refused to do so. When she intentionally caused a fire in the apartment and broke my restraining order against her, I had her arrested and staff let her back in the next day. She wrote stuff all over our walls and harassed me and they said there was absolutely nothing, 0%, they could do about it. They never even reached out to her to ask her to stop, even after telling me almost every time I complained that they would. The staff are liars, but working in a place that toxic will have that effect. After 7 months they finally let me out of my lease at no penalty, but only after months of telling me I had to pay a $500 moving fee or sign another year long lease (or pay more for a shorter lease in a worse apartment). They didn't tell me the pool was only open in the summer, or that they were about to get rid of the unlimited free coffee. They basically bait-n-switched me, then delayed to get as much cash and time out of me as possible before I threatened legal action. It's also incredibly dangerous, I watched I guy get shot and die outside my first month there. Almost exactly 1 year later 3 cops and the assailant were shot in the lobby, with the assailant dying. Every single night I was kept awake by the echoing through the streets and up the apartment building of car horns, physical and verbal fights, crazy people talking to themselves, catcalling, large groups of drunk people yelling or fighting, fireworks, shootings, etc. Literally my last night there sitting on the balcony, as I stood up to walk back inside, somebody shot a bottle rocket firework out of their car and it exploded next to my 12th floor balcony. It was an obvious sign, I couldn't help but smile because I was getting the heck out of that vipers den.

Yelp
Building events are essential for fostering community engagement and promoting a sense of belonging among residents. Whether it's a grand opening, a holiday celebration, or a community gathering, these events create opportunities for neighbors to connect, share experiences, and build relationships. With careful planning and creativity, building events can enhance the overall atmosphere of a property, making it more than just a place to live but a vibrant community where residents feel valued and connected. I especially love the care that Monchelle and Greg provide to residents!

Yelp
I wan't to express and highlight Silvana Liza for her outstanding hard work . Must say she delivers great customer service along with a positive attitude.

Yelp
Current tenant. Absolutely do not live here. My bike was STOLEN in April FROM THE LOCKED BIKE ROOM the bike was chain locked not U locked. They (management) told me to call the police and have the police come to view footage "they had to be there to view the security footage". When I was visibly upset that it seemed no one wanted to help me find who was responsible, the front desk concierge said out loud "I don't have time for this this morning." And directed me to Miriam (mgmt). When police didn't come, I was directed by Miriam to contact my renters insurance that THEY SUGGESTED when I moved in. The insurance wouldn't cover the stolen bike because it wasn't stolen directly from my apartment. I was then directed by the insurance company to TAKE ON BUZZUTO MANAGEMENT? This place is a mess. I got a covid rate on my apartment in January 2021, rent went up by 500 DOLLARS this July. I was given 4 weeks notice that it would be raised to that rate they SLIPPED A NOTE UNDER MY DOOR as notice. Also highly paternal and restrictive rules on the amenities due to young tenants who misuse the roof. Instead of restricting use for tenants who abuse amenities - ALL TENANTS are only able to use your key until 5 PM on weekdays for the roof, after which you have to leave a GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID AT THE DESK to receive a loan key. This rule also applies to ALL HOURS ON WEEKENDS. To secure a room for say, a birthday party with a few friends, it's a 500 DOLLAR DEPOSIT. Go elsewhere. I'm looking forward to going elsewhere as soon as I can, the amenities are not worth it.

Yelp
As a neighbor of i5 I can promise you will want to avoid this building. They allow their residents to hold raging parties on their rooftops well into the night. You'll never be able to enjoy the rooftop amenity it as a resident unless you're part of a raging party day or night. The residents and management company have no regard for the peace of this city. Avoid this building.

Yelp
Great amenities and new place. However, Quarter is not responsive to your request, I'd rather go through i5 if possible for any request. Now that Quarter is no longer here, things seem a little out of the place with i5 try to take over while working to find new co-living. But overall experience is great. Friendly concierges and there are always people to clean the place and high touch surfaces. They took out the hand sanitizer in the lobby, I hope they put it back up for safety purposes

Yelp
Wow! I had been searching everywhere for affordable, comfortable, and short-term living in Washington, D.C. and this property was the only one to meet all my standards. I am especially thankful to leasing agent Cody Prescott Kindle! He made the process incredibly easy and reassured me throughout -- I had a lot of questions haha! I would absolutely recommend this company and property! Great leasing agents and incredible living arrangements!

Yelp
This place has gone down hill in the last 6 months. The new property manager and leasing team are HORRIBLE. Water, electric, and internet are randomly turned off in the building and we receive a last minute notice. They are unresponsive to emails and never pick up the phone. Not to mention that they are just rude as hell. The only nice people that work in this building are Nicole and Miss Wanda at the front desk and the cleaning crew. Idk what happened to Sam, Justina, and Julius, but they are missed! Don't waste ya money at this bozzuto property.

Beran M.

Yelp
The staff under leasing are all inconsiderate and show no sense of care for their residents. I was placed into the wrong unit and they made little to no effort in helping me.

K G.

Yelp
We leased this apartment for my son and although it appears nice, the management is the worst ever. It started out ok until you move in. They are completely non-responsive (they responded to one email) and they will not take care of repairs in a timely manner. I saw reviews before he moved in about the horrible management and I hate we did not heed the warnings. This place does not care about you once you move in, period!
