"Chef Bob Iacovone left the fine dining world of Cuvee to focus on being a stay at home dad in 2009. But the kitchen called him back in 2017 when he opened Iacovone Kitchen with his wife Joanna. Fresh and healthy options abound, from family meals for delivery to rice bowls flavored with Indian or Mediterranean spices, paninis, and lots of salads. Follow on Instagram for daily menu." - Beth D'Addono

Thank you chef!! We’ve been in only a handful of times but the love and attention to detail do NOT go unnoticed ❤️🤌💯

Oh my!!! If you have a discerning palate which is difficult to please this is the place for you!! I had the butternut squash soup with grilled cheese, my friend had the Mediterranean rice bowl with grilled chicken. Both dishes had perfectly balanced flavors which were delightful. By far the best meal we've had in NOLA

Scott Collier

Google
Outstanding owner operated spot. We got the house made lemon ricotta ravioli and it was just beautiful. Carefully handmade with Swiss chard and green beans all expertly cooked and plated to go. And a generous portion! Also got a bowl: the curry which was again clearly a house blend of garam masala and other spices with vegetables perfectly cooked. A carrot cake in a cup was a beautiful finale. I mean really beautiful carrot cake.

The Mediterranean panini has been one of the best sandwiches I've had in New Orleans. Mac and cheese comes cold but we put in the oven with bread crumbs which was great. We'll be going back to try other paninis.

Google
Wonderful food and great menu variety! Sauces had layers of flavor and the dishes were cooked to perfection. The raspberry bread pudding was divine!

I have known Robert Iacovone for over 20 years. Chef Bob, cooks amazing dinners, with wonderful fresh ingredients, his knowledge and his cooking skilks. Can't wait for my next meal!

Google
Great food, great people! Anything you have will be amazing, you will not be disappointed! Chef Bob will keep you coming back with variety every week!! My new favorite!

Ordered some takeout: the grilled cheese with the curry vegetable soup, it was amazing! I dipped the sandwich in the soup and it was unreal. Def go!

Yelp
Really great hidden gem. Theres only one guy that works here, he is extremely friendly and you can tell that he likes making the food. I hope that he's happy at home because he's always alone in there. Food is 10/10!!! Check it out.

Robin M.

Yelp
At noon 7/19/24 it was closed, perhaps permanently. , my educated guess as there's no sign on door, no furniture inside, and no one working.

Paul S.

Yelp
Small place on a cool street. I was visiting NOLA and has never been to Freret. What a cool area, and Iacovone is worth the visit. Delicious food and really friendly, helpful chef

Yelp
Pandemic review: I was leaving my job (yes actually onsite!) and realized I was starving an in no mood to prepare my own food. And I remembered I had seen a yummy sandwich on the Iacovone website. So I called it up on my phone and somehow ended up in Postmates (although they do Waitr) as well. Ordered my items (and sides) and then drove over to their storefront. And it is just a storefront. This is a takeaway spot so they are setup to give you the goods. My food was ready and delicious. For some reason PM wouldn't let me tip on pickup (and that's not cool so I probably won't use them again... of course it could have been operator error). So I put some cash on the table. I had the shrimp boil panini and the next day I ate my winter caprese. Both were delicious. And let me tell you, if you are a beets fan get that caprese. UH-mazing. I got the creole cole slaw and the quinoa salad as sides. The cole slaw was fine; really I'm not that into cabbage anyway. But the quinoa was great. This yummy spot is definitely going into my rotation.

Yelp
This place is walking distance from where I live, and I am continually impressed. The price is moderate but the value is excellent. I got the pasta with what appeared to be and tasted like fresh, handmade bowtie noodles. Just that would have made my day, but the sauce was delightful without being overbearing (I'm looking at your Ocean sauce, Adolfo). Quality ingredients and exquisitely prepared eggplant rounded out the dish. The french bread was perfectly crisp. The presentation was top notch. Better than I've had at several fine Italian restaurants that specialize in fresh pasta dishes double the price of this one. Quickly and expertly prepared fresh, absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Ate at Iacavone 2x in 2 days and had everything from curry to crab lasagna to crawfish. Wow was it amazing. It's owned by a small husband and wife team, and he used to be a chef at top Nola restaurants. Family and inviting feel, all kinds of options and it's very reasonable. Recommend heartily!

G V.

Yelp
Delicious food! I had the butter chicken curry with mango chutney which was superb, and the goat cheese beet salad to go for dinner which was also delicious. My friend had the gazpacho and sweet heat pork tacos, and she loved her food too. This place is a total hole in the wall (mostly to-go orders; only 2 small tables), but the food is fantastic! Thanks, Chef Bob Iacovone! Construction next door is annoying, but the food is great!)

Jill B.

Yelp
Best steak I've eaten in a long long long time! AND, it was takeout!!!! A bit pricey but this $31 meal could have fed two!

Patricia R.

Yelp
This was my second try with Iacovone and the second time was a charm. On my first visit I went with a grilled veggie bowl and just did not love it. Well, I've learned my lesson - at this place go big or go home. Yesterday I had a pulled park poboy with sweet hot sauce and mozzarella cheese. That warm, toasty, melty masterpiece was just what I needed to remind me that New Orleans' restaurants are still here and the sun will come out again. Y'all, this was good. Stay safe and eat local.

Audrey G.

Yelp
We stopped into this take-out place and were greeted warmly. We looked at the menu and asked how spicy the sweet heat tacos are. We were offered a taste and the meat was delicious. We ordered the tacos and bought a bottle of "Bob's Sweet Heat" sauce as well. Excellent! A great dinner!! I am sure I'll be back to try more of their specials. There's also a refrigerator case with dips and spreads that sound awesome. Can't wait to get back there!

Yelp
Have had take out 2x since they reopened. Round 1. I did the duck debris and waffles. The waffle was made with cornbread base. Delicious. My wife did the stuff pasta. Very good as well. Round 2 (last night so I have better recollection of the food) I did the pork tenderloin on top of the white bean chorizo stew with sweet glazed collared greens. Tenderloin was cooked right consistently clean taste. The chorizo stew and collards added the flavor kick to this dish. The tenderloin was sliced into bite sized pieces so it was possible to get the perfect bite of pork/stew/greens with each bite. Wife did the short rib with the garlic mashed potatoes and sprouts. Also yummy The caliber of food coming out of that little kitchen while they are still dealing with post ida repairs is unreal. Can't wait to try when they dining room is open again.

Erika L.

Yelp
My new favorite place to go in New Orleans. The food is absolutely delicious, no matter what you try. The Bruschetta became one of the most unexpected favorites today! The BBQ pulled pork, like the remaining paninis / hot pressed sandwiches we've had were amazing. And the comfort of the broccoli & cheddar soup was to die for. They always have something new on the menu as it changes weekly but they will never disappoint! And Chef Bob and Joanna are such a friendly people loving bunch! Such happy personalities! Can't wait to go back and try more of their amazing menus!

Simon F.

Yelp
BEing fron the U.K. I am a curry expert. THe one from here was exceptional. Cannoy recommend it too highly. Very reasonable too.

Silo L.

Yelp
You'll regret not going sooner. Everything is delicious and you can tell how passionate Bob is about his craft in one bite. The food is so good and specials seem to change often, which means more delicious visits. Waiter delivery and located on Feret so great destination to stop in for one of the best meals you'll have... quite possibly ever. In the photos : Foie Gras & duck appetizer special. Fresh warm mozzarella salad ( spectacular salad ) Bbq shrimp. All of them being absolutely amazing.

Chelsea C.

Yelp

And a generous portion! Also got a bowl: the curry which was again clearly a house blend of garam masala and other spices with vegetables perfectly cooked. A carrot cake in a cup was a beautiful finale. I mean really beautiful carrot cake. (Copying my hubby's review bc it's exactly right)

Yelp
I honestly can't believe how lucky we were to stumble upon this gem of an eating establishment. We wanted a little bite to eat as we were walking in the Freret corridor. It is a small understated place with two tables and I think the owner who is also the chef does mostly a take-out business. We were greeted by the very handsome and friendly chef who told us he used to be a chef for some big restaurants downtown but that once he had children, he needed a more reasonable schedule. We were blown away by the food we were served. The taste and presentation were like something you would see in a five star restaurant! We had bruschetta that was beautifully presented with cauliflower and beets with fresh mozzarella made by the chef. It looked too pretty to eat. It was seasoned perfectly and absolutely outstanding. My husband had the Indian Curry rice bowl which was also outstanding. The spices and flavors were SO good. This is truly an amazing place to eat. You are paying a very reasonable price for gourmet food. I am certain we will go back during our 5 day trip here!

Rich S.

Yelp
I really want to like this place, but the Bowl that I had was Not good. The vegetables were hard and not all that fresh. It's priced appropriately but he food that I had just wasn't very good.

Jonny K.

Yelp
New place for me. Bob Iacovone puts a lot of love and passion into his craft and the food smells and tastes over the top! The moment you walk in you are surprised by the pleasant aroma of a well orchestrated menu! The menu is simple to read and I made a quick decision to try the Mexican bowl while my girlfriend got the Farmers Market. She got chicken and quinoa and I took the pork with rice and neither were disappointed! Fresh mozzarella was tried as well and I can't put into words the flavor! Affordable and I'm well fed. I'll definitely be back for more!

Florence N.

Yelp
Update: Just ordered the sweet heat spare ribs and went to heaven! (comes with incredible mashed potatoes and slaw). Y'all!

Ariana G.

Yelp
Just had lunch and had to write a review! I am so happy to have checked out this spot today! Freret just keeps getting better and better! The bruschetta was excellent. I could seriously eat that every day. The roast beef panini is one of the best roast beef sandwiches in the city and the Indian bowl with chicken was fantastic as well. All beautiful, bright, clean flavors. Will definitely be back again soon and really excited to see they are on Waiter for the delivery option!

Shelby P.

Yelp
Gourmet to-go entrees, appetizers, snacks, and desserts. Love their braised short rib and great soups and salads. In addition to the hot menu, they have a fridge with to-go items like crab and brie dip and chicken salad. So quick, easy, and delicious!

Aneisha S.

Yelp
Great tasting made fresh to order hot meals! The tomato bisque with shrimp & goat cheese is my favorite! The bowls are really good too! There is also a variety of hot sandwiches to try along with homemade desserts! Try the cookies & cream rice krispy treat ... definitely will be returning!

Sabrina R.

Yelp
Such a cute mom and pop place! Run by a very sweet couple and the food is high quality! They have so many good options and I highly recommend this hidden gem!

Madison S.

Yelp
I have had so many things on the menu at this point and never have I once been disappointed. The food is soooo so so sooo good! I would eat here for every meal if I could. Kindest people, as well

Kathleen F.

Yelp
Yum! Tastes fresh and homemade, love the Indian bowl.

Adam A.

Yelp
Great little shop. The sandwiches were amazing and I look forward to tying the specials. This is a place I will stop at every time I am in New Orleans.

Sigmund B.

Yelp
Had to go back the next day for more - the Indian rice bowl was the co-owners favorite and We taste why. The curry was subtle but very flavorful. We asked for spice level of 6-7 out of 10 and it stung in a very good way. Would not recommend going higher unless you like pain

Lauren V.

Yelp
Great food! I had the beet caprese (and I'm picky with beets) but this was AMAZING! Perfect balance of flavors. Side of quinoa salad that they made fresh in front of me. Much better value for what you get for the price than some of the other lunch places on freret.

Brandon B.

Yelp
Just got this delivered through Grub Hub. How wonderful to find such a seemingly healthy, veggie rich and absolutely delicious option! We got three different rice bowls to which we added protein. Order anything! It's ALL wonderful!

Wes K.

Yelp
Stopped by this afternoon for lunch. I ordered the spinach salad and the soup de jour (shrimp and vegetable), my wife ordered chicken Indian curry. Everything was fantastic with excellent flavor. I particularly loved the spinach salad with orange pieces and goat cheese (I think). We dined in. Our order took about 10min. The owner/chef was friendly and helpful. Seating is limited, but it worked for us. Will return.

Greta G.

Yelp
I love this place! I have ordered delivery lunch to my work (I'm a teacher) at least 3 times. I am hooked on their bowls... the Mexican and the Indian are super good! It's affordable and a ton of food! Don't hesitate! Go! Make that easy online order right here on Yelp!

Channel Guy C.

Yelp
Excellent food! What I've always wanted - high quality takeout and a place that cuts the fuss out of having a "dining experience". There is already plenty of that on the New Orleans scene (which takes itself a little too seriously and is often a huge expense and hassle). Apparently the chef here was trained in some of the top restaurants here, and it shows. Yum!

Valerie M.

Yelp
This is my new favorite stop in Nola. I have a family of 5 and stop in to pick up dinner regularly-it's just so easy and so good. Parking is off street but never an issue. The owners are extremely kind and personable and they can cook! The grab and go idea is perfect for busy families or if you just want a gourmet meal at home by yourself. The prices can't be beat either; it's almost unbelievable for what you get. This place is a jem and the concept is brilliant. My kids and husband love when I bring dinner home from here and are always excited to try their new dishes-the ever changing menu keeps things exciting and fresh. Don't ever pass on the duck! (A personal favorite) I also love getting their soups. I started bringing them to my grandmother as well-she thinks I hung the moon now. She has me bringing her new soup every week! The chef is an artist and prepares the most delectable dishes. I remember him from Cuvèe-he kept that place full. I can't say enough good things about Iacovone Kitchen. It's a definite must try! I love this place.

June R.

Yelp
Iacovone Kitchen rocks! I had a very pleasant and fast experience getting in an out of there with some really delicious food. The folks there are really genuinely friendly. I got some kind of roasted veggie curry bowl (not sure what was is actually called but my impression is the menu is always changing) and man was it good. So many different and complex flavors packed into one bowl. I definitely recommend checking it out! There will almost certainly be something on the menu you'll love.

Kyu Min H.

Yelp
I just stopped here for a Mexican rice bowl on my way to the Rook Cafe. That was a great choice. The food was very delicious, homy, and cheap. There's some kindness at this place beside just food. I bring around a mug with a tea bag and Bob asked me if I want hot water. He just knew I needed it!

Jonathan F.

Yelp
Over priced and not very good. Pulled pork has very little flavor. Creole cole slaw is cabbage and creole mustard. We got a pressed grilled cheese and a pulled pork sandwich $33.00. Was hoping for greatness but no. Almost every review specified the chef owner "Bob". They must be his friends. Barely average especially in a city with great affordable options....just drive on by not worth it for mediocre food.

David G.

Yelp
We look forward to returning to this eatery...a "hidden gem" that does mostly takeout. But we prefer to sit at one of two tables and converse with the owners as we eat fabulous food.

A B.

Yelp
We happened to walk by (late lunch) and read the menu instantly drawn in. We ordered two bowls, Mexican and Curry. Both were well stocked with wonderful roasted & well spiced, palate pleasing spices. Very impressed! Will return to experience the paninis, soups, etc. Good prices, mostly take out, although there are two tables if prefer to eat in, when available. Chef Bob was very friendly and pleasant to talk with. 5 Stars folks!

K M.

Yelp
Loving this place! The shrimp boil sandwich is unexpected and so delicious. Nice addition to the Freret corridor.

Mia P.

Yelp
Hidden gem. Amazing chef.... you need to try this place!!! It's fresh, healthy, and delicious!!! I always get the Indian curry with chicken! To die for!!

C P.

Yelp
My expectations were not that high when we strolled into this hole-in-the wall place on Freret Street. When I say hole-in-wall we are talking about a place that seats only six people and four of those seats at at a bar that runs along the wall. We were the only ones in the joint which does not necessarily bode well. After we ordered the proprietor, chef and sole worker said it would be about ten minutes and our food would be ready. So as we are apt to do, my wife and I broke out our phones and made conversation based on what we were reading on our screens. Meanwhile the guy preparing our food walks out the door. Now I'm thinking to myself, a tad bit put out, that this is going to take much longer than ten minutes. But the guy stopped there at the front window where he has an herb window garden and starts trimming fresh basil for my meal! Ok, now I'm impressed and and my expectations are rising but I know to temper my enthusiasm lest I become disappointed. Now I'm sneaking peaks at him while engaging with my wife to see if there are any other surprises. The next surprise came at about ten minutes from when we ordered - two beautifully presented meals. But we all know that the true test is how it tastes. Smashing! I had the sweet corn and crab soup with lump crab meat. It was by far the best soup I've ever had. My wife had sweet corn tortelli with shrimp that was also superb. I tried to order that also but my wife got the last one. Fortunately for both us she got the last one because we were both able to enjoy tasting each other's meal. We learned from talking to the proprietor/chef/and sole worker that his business is primarily carry out business. And once he runs of of a dish it is no longer available that day. He also frequently changes the menu so I may not be able to have the same soup the next time I go there. Seating is limited and the overhead is low so you may want to keep that in mind because I imagine that it can get a bit backed up when several patrons arrive simultaneously. Our test of a good restaurant is would we go back and order the same things. The answer is unequivocally YES! 5 STARS

Johnson D.

Yelp
loved it! Great little spot with the nicest people. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and the spinach salad. The bbq sauce on the sandwich was perfect. Just enough heat. The bacon on the salad was candied with pralines, because why not? Reasonable prices for the sandwich and salad. Will definitely return to try more of their menu!

Alexandra T.

Yelp
Delicious & healthy. Perfect quality meal for my family-- has become my go-to during a busy work week!

Hampton J.

Yelp
Fantastic food. The owner/chef pays great attention to detail with the food. We can't wait to go back.

Jerrybb92 B.

Yelp
So tasty! Fine dining level food with a friendly, laid-back atmosphere. The couple running the joint are super friendly and warm. No need for fancy clothes, grab some homemade pasta or whatever the dish of the day is and enjoy at home, on the go, or at a nearby park.

Samantha H.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! My "Farmer's Market" bowl was beautiful, fresh, and made-to-order with the finest ingredients of incredible flavor. The owner and head chef has a passion for his work, and his prices are the most reasonable I've seen in the area. I'll definitely be back!

Patricia W.

Yelp
Awesome customer service!!! Love the owners- very friendly couple. The husband is a renowned chef and it shows in his dishes!!! I have only had the fresh market rice bowl and I'm already hooked! Will definitely go back next week! Definitely must try. What drew me in was their Vegan choices. Love, love, love them!!!
