The 13 Best Sushi Restaurants In Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Ichi-Umi Sushi (formerly known as Haru and Hanabi Sushi) is a solid, dependable, and affordable sushi spot, right off of Research Boulevard by the Arboretum. Which is why it’s almost always full of families and shoppers alike, and why there’s almost always a small, manageable wait to get a table during peak hours. Ichi-Umi is nothing fancy, but it’s a great option for a casual weeknight dinner with pretty high-quality sushi. One of the specialties is the aburi-style sushi that’s lightly seared, but our favorite thing to order is the Kaisen Don, the rice bowl topped with a nearly literal mountain of seafood." - nicolai mccrary, raphael brion

Google
Food was good and prices are reasonable but the food did come out kinda fast so makes me question if it’s fresh or premade. I also had some a thing of plastic in my ramen.

Google
Best chicken ramen I've had in the US so far. The Las Vegas roll was perfect, my kid loved it.

Google
Great sushi and ramen! Portions are really good too

Google
This is definitely one of my favorite places to go eat. The atmosphere is perfect, it's not a big place but the food is great especially the Austin sushi Roll

Google
OMG this place is a hidden gem even though it's was my first time in Austin maybe all restaurant are this great but i have been all over the country and i must say this place is on the top of my list of great sushi. Everything was super fresh and the taste 🤤. I will definitely come again when I visit Austin in the future. Keep up the great work guys i hope that one day all sushi taste this great. Everyone this is the standard.

Google
I absolutely love the takoyaki. Food is amazing, but the service can be very slow at times. Last time we went, the customer next to us was almost charged twice for their meal. The customer paid for their meal with a male worker. The female worker then came a few min later asking for him to pay. The customer said he paid multiple times, after what seemed like an eternity of them going back and forth. She finally asked another employee and learned the customer did, in fact, pay for his food.

If you haven't been here before. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT! We stopped by here on a whim, and were pleasantly surprised. The appetizers were so flavorful. And our ramen was amazingly good. We opted for the medium spicey. 5 out 5 recommend! And best of all everyone was so kind.

Google
The food and flavors were fantastic. We ordered crab Rangoon, edamame, and fried calamari appetizers and then Tokyo Ramen, Rice Bowl with chicken teriyaki, and a Bento box with steak. The meat was absolutely unreal. Perfectly cooked and flavored. My daughter got strawberry and said 9/10 (could have been colder - you’ll see it was a little mushy in the pic).

Yelp
my go-to sushi spot in austin! i've tried MANY sushi spots (uchi, tenten, soto, bang bang, machi, kome, lucky robot, junai, and more), so i believe im qualified to review this and say it's the best. best in VALUE and every single dish is amazing. high quality, good prices. easy parking. good happy hour deals too. i tried: takoyaki, calamari, austin roll, new orlean roll, scallop fever roll, and a couple others i forgot (all were good) must get the takoyaki, it's the best in austin. calamari surprised me by how light, crispy, and seasoned it was. sushi is plated and presented beautifully, one even came in a ring of fire. now thats FIRE. service is kinda slow sometimes though.. i do admit..but the food is so good. they are also nice! it gets busy, but ive never had to wait for a table. it's a small restaurant with a good amount of seating. feels like a quiet, japanese restaurant kind of vibe. give it a try and let me know your thoughts.

Yelp
I personally didn't like their sashimi. Some felt frozen, maybe the ice decor, but didn't help the dish. It was fishy and hard to chew. I was craving sashimi, but it just made me regret going out to spend $40 on it. Service was okay, I had to ask for water after a bit because we weren't asked if we wanted it. Maybe the other menus are good, but sashimi regular (pictured) was not great. It's pretty though, maybe for a pic!

Yelp
Shockingly bad food and service. We were celebrating something special and our regular sushi delivery place - IchiUmi Sushi - didn't have any Hamachi available so we tried this restaurant which is even closer, thinking that they were still owned by the same company. It's clear that they have parted ways. The Hamachi sushi had been dressed with lemon juice, like ceviche. It was grey, rubbery and I hope it won't make me sick. The shrimp and vegetable tempura were a disaster. The greasy fried batter had peeled off the gray vegetables. I thought I should alert the manager - his name is Jerry - that we had found the food inedible and why and he said that he would look into it. Nothing more. I work hard for every dollar that I spend on restaurants and expect a modicum of quality and service. I've been robbed.

Yelp
I've been looking for a solid ramen spot around Austin and this seemed like a good place to try based on the reviews. We came on a Sunday night around dinner time and we were the only ones in the restaurant. The servers were friendly and attentive. We ordered: - Crab Rangoon (4/5): I love crab rangoon. Even when the filling is made of 99% cream cheese and 1% crab, I still love crab rangoon. It's hard for me to rate any crab rangoon below a 5/5 but this one was served on.. whipped cream? When it first came out I was hoping I would be pleasantly surprised and it would be whipped cream cheese or something more savory, but unfortunately it was straight from the can reddi whip-tasting sweet whipped cream. The crab rangoon itself was fine (again, hard to disappoint me), but the whipped cream was off-putting to say the least. - Chicken Karaage (5/5): Solid karaage option. The chicken was tender and was served with a tasty spicy mayo dipping sauce. The amount you get for $8 is a great value too! - Tokyo Miso Ramen (4/5): This ramen wasn't bad! For Austin standards, I would rate it above most other places. My issue was that I ordered mild broth and it was pretty spicy. Still, overall, I enjoyed the flavor of the broth despite the spice and the noodles had a nice chew. I would have preferred chashu pork rather than tenderloin steak, but that's just personal preference. Overall, I think this is a solid ramen spot in North Austin, especially compared to some of the other options in the area! I hope they stop serving whipped cream with the crab rangoon though.

Yelp
I'll be honest and say that when I heard good ramen in Austin? I was definitely incredulous, but my buddy said he liked it and it was good. The endorsement still made me skeptical but with beggars not being choosers and everything I went in. It was a Friday night and it was dark with a lot of chochin hanging, trying to go for the Izakaya feel. They actually did have yakitori as a menu item and chicken hearts was one of the items available! Awesome! It definitely bumped up the authenticity of the place. You could tell the hearts were frozen, but honestly it has been hard to find them anywhere stateside so it was a minor gripe. For the main, I ended up getting the Tonkatsu Original, Extra Spicy with an egg. The broth didn't have as much depth as I would have liked but still not bad. I was lowkey impressed with their ramen and again the chicken hearts gets extra respect from me.

Yelp
We came in on a Thursday night and it was quite empty. I was a bit surprised how pricey their ramen is ($16 for the tonkotsu) since it's not a particularly busy spot. I got the chicken paitan ramen since it was a bit cheaper and it was pretty decent though the three pieces of chicken were quite small. The broth was quite spicy despite ordering mild spice but it did include a whole braised egg. The takoyaki pleasantly surprised me though when it came out with 6 balls and on a bed of egg salad. I would recommend that but the ramen didn't particularly wow me. Overall, a decent place for Japanese food for a regular dinner.

Yelp
This place is such a surprise! It is tucked away behind the ice skating rink. It's always winter in the rink, and a hot bowl of ramen is the perfect antidote. After a fun skate, we shared steamed dumplings. Then, I had the Tonkotsu Ramen and my daughter had a bento box. The bento box comes with a California roll, egg rolls, rice, salad miso soup, and your choice of protein. We chose chicken. For $15 this is an absolute ton of food with fun variety and an adorable presentation. The service was quick and there was plenty of seating even though it's a small, cute space.
google avatar

Yelp
Have come here multiple times and feel the bento boxes are a great value here. Mon-Fri they also have lunch specials as well as happy hour from 3-6 daily. The service is fairly quick which is nice to get in and out. The main drawback here for me here is I feel like overall the restaurant is typically kept a little on the unkept side, bathrooms are kinda dirty, and the restaurant overall kinda has an odor.

Yelp
Met a friend for lunch yesterday and we enjoyed the food and quick service. There was no wait and they were able to split the bill. Easy parking too!

Yelp
Came here for lunch with a coworker and had some good sushi! I got the 2 roll lunch special with the rainbow and spicy salmon roll. We shared the sushi combo 3 that came with sashimi and nigiris. The restaurant was nice inside and the service was good! Nothing over the top but I thought the lunch deals were pretty well priced. I will definitely be back! :)
google avatar

Wendy K.

Yelp
The service was very good. I ended up getting an original ramen. It was a little bit too big. I did not care for the egg in it. Next time I will try the soup dumplings.not a fan of melon Japanese Rasmussen.

Yelp
Food, service, atmosphere was amazing! I was not expecting a real fire on my plate when it was brought out. The sushi was so good and is now a favorite. It came very fast yet tasted very fresh. The waiter only had 3 tables on a Monday night but the service was still attentive and polite, which was refreshing. The atmosphere is a little funny with y2k pop hits playing in the background. I wish they played something else but wasn't bad. I'll be back!

Yelp
What I praise: 1. Offering side of broth and noodles. Sometimes, I just crave a SMALL ramen portion, so while this was outrageously pricey, it was just what I needed in the moment of hanger. Brother was flavorful and noodles were cooked nicely. 2. Sizable portion for a lunch bento box! Maybe I filled up too quickly from the noodles, but I surprisingly had some leftovers from the bento box for dinner. Happily surprised there. What I didn't enjoy: 1. ZERO flavor in the chicken. Like, nothing. I am super sensitive to salt but this could've used so much more. I ended up having to dump my entire condiment section on this in order to enjoy. Sorry! 2. This came with a side of California rolls but no wasabi or ginger? Or soy sauce!?! It was very sad. The veggie roll was really good though, so that made up for the lack of taste everywhere else. Overall, I'd probably try again but not get the chicken. Will stick to other selections or maybe just opt for sushi rolls all together.

Yelp
We ended up here after realizing Ichiban is closed on Tuesdays. Now we have officially found a new favorite spot. It's super cute inside, very nice and efficient service. We had a chicken teriyaki bento, and a bunch of sushi. I really liked their house salad. Everything tasted very fresh and delicious.
google avatar

Yelp
For less expensive sushi it was good quality. The salmon, yellowtail, and escolar I had were all pretty fresh and tasty. I wish they offered more higher-end cuts of fish on their menu such as medium fatty tuna. I tried to order the fatty yellowtail but they were out. On the bright side, they subbed two regular yellowtail nigiri in exchange for me!

Yelp
Stopped in for late dinner and really appreciated the friendly, welcoming staff, quick service, and delicious food. A fun memory was our server softly singing to himself.

Yelp
I love this Japanese restaurant. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated with laid back atmosphere. The restaurant is clean. The servers are friendly and polite. This restaurant has a very peaceful vibe. My favorite dish is the Tonkotsu ramen. It has a very flavorful broth with cute mushrooms, veggies and delicious ramen noodles. Their green tea is a nice compliment to the meal. My favorite appetizer was the quail eggs wrapped in bacon.
google avatar

Cam H.

Yelp
We only ordered sushi so I don't know anything about their ramen. Sushi was really good! But the rolls were better than the nigiri. I was expecting the fatty salmon nigiri to be fattier and softer. My favorite were the crazy salmon and dragon fire rolls. Quality was great for the price. They have really good deals during lunch time as well! Good service. We were quickly seated and orders came out quick. Chill and quiet inside. Easy to have a conversation without having to shout at each other like other places that play loud music lol plenty of parking outside.

Yelp
Ramen was excellent and so were the bento boxes. Good portion sizes. Feel like this spot is a hidden gem. I also want to try their happy hour menu someday - the prices were competitive!

Jessica E.

Yelp
Shopping in the area with 3 teens. My youngest is a vegetarian and was excited about the possibility of a delicious tofu dish. The older two vetoed with all their might. I told them if there was nothing on the menu for them, I would grab them a burger on the way home. All 3 (and me) loved our lunch! My vegetarian had the veggie bento box. She gushed about how delicious everything was. I had katsu bento and my middle daughter said she wanted chicken and watermelon...so we got the teriyaki chicken bento. My oldest (and pickiest) of the 3 asked for noodles and chicken with no vegetables. Everyone was full and happy. The service was great. Jenni brought us water no less than 4 times and even ran out to the parking lot to give us a bag we had left behind. Next time we're in town, we will go back!!

Yelp
This place was so awesome to say the least!! I'm harder to impress especially when it comes to sushi but the place was so warm and inviting i wouldn't mind becoming a regular ngl. The staff were very sweet and attentive without being overbearing. NOW GORLL let's talk flavors!! For less expensive sushi the flavors had me about to lick the plate C L E A N. i don't think y'all understand. i literally ordered a meal to go for the next day as well. If you want a relaxed spot to take friends/family or a new pookie i def recommend this place

Yelp
+ taste: each roll we got was unique, and above average. austin / hawaii / el latino, best to good (in that order). truffle salmon-escolar appetizer was tasty too. + quality: fish was fresh and cold. the only issue was the water / ice had a funny taste. i think they're overdue for some maintanence on the lines or something. no matter, the drinks came in cans. - price: a bit expensive. $90 for 3 rolls and an appetizer. however, i did appreciate that they didnt charge an outrageous amount for the soda like most places do. $2 is still a large markup, but some places are just criminal with $3-4 for a soda. ++ tipping policy: defaulted to 15%, which was appropriate for the level of service (good, but not demanding). it was refreshing to see that they didnt have it set at 20% to start like so many places have on even to-go orders now (often without even showing an option at 15%). i'd come back on this principle alone. $12 to deliver 4 plates and 2 glasses is plenty... good to see a place that isnt pinching the customer at every corner.
google avatar

Mahesh P.

Yelp
Really really *really* good ramen. The broth is profound (), the pork is great (they char it. who knew it would make it so cool!), and the variations are distinct and, you guessed it, great. The specialties (bulgogi ramen!) are even greater. Yes, I'm going overboard, but hey, this is excellent ramen!
google avatar

Cathy L.

Yelp
Small and cozy ramen place in a plaza in North Austin, easy parking with a huge lot. Not very busy and quick service. I ordered the white tonkotsu ramen and thought it was just fine, pretty standard, and very filling for the price. Each element of the ramen was pretty good, especially the egg and the menma. However, I think the white broth itself was not particularly the most tasty. It seemed to lack flavor and spice, and was a basic salt broth. I would try something else next time.
google avatar

Kevin B.

Yelp
This place is next to my gf's house - just tried it out for the first time today. Not bad at all by any means! We ordered the following: - Chicken Yakitori - Chicken Katsu - Custom Poke Bowl - Hot Sake Will be back to try more!
google avatar

Laure H.

Yelp
This place is so delicious. We tried the white and red ramen (this second one was spicy) and were so delighted with our choices! We even got them to go instead of dining in - I was worried the quality wouldn't be as good if brought home but I gobbled up the whole thing. Extremely affordable with high quality ingredients - can't ask for more. It puts other mainstream restaurants like Jinya ramen to shame. This will be my new go to!
google avatar

Yelp
If you ever crave a meal that will warm you to your core and leave you feeling completely satisfied, look no further. This restaurant has a cozy interior and is a great place to bring others to share a meal. It's crazy to me how underrated and unknown this place seems to be among other Austinites! This restaurant is located along a row of other restaurants and stores that share an enormous parking lot that I've never seen get more than a quarter full, so parking is never an issue. The dining area has seating available for both small and large parties and there is also a small bar you can enjoy. I believe that the dish that distinguishes this restaurant from every other is the pairing of their don katsu (pork cutlet) dish with a unique sauce that they serve with it! It is mind-blowing to me how crispy and fresh they make their don katsu and I often crave how good it tastes with their sauce (think Raising Canes and their signature sauce). If you want to take it to another level, their Cheese Don Katsu is absolutely worth it with the amount of cheese they stuff their already large cutlet with. Furthermore, I fundamentally believe that no other place in Austin beats the ramen of this place. For spicy lovers, I absolutely recommend the Don Katsu Ramen with red broth. Overall, if you dine here, you will be served large portions that will more than satisfy your appetite and leave you with leftovers to bring home. I take pride in recommending this place to everyone who visits Austin because of how versatile and delicious their food selection is.
google avatar

Justin K.

Yelp
Stopped by lunch after craving ramen since it was raining that day. I ordered the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and the Chicken Karaage. I think that the flavor of the broth was mediocre at best. The egg was a little overcooked on the inside. The Chicken Karaage was crispy and juicy. The wasabi mayo sauce had a consistency that was thick and sticky, close to that of honey, compared to the creamy texture that you would expect from a mayo based sauce, which I thought was a little off-putting. That being said, the taste of the sauce wasn't terrible. Overall, I would say that the food was decent, but definitely would look elsewhere if you're looking for good ramen.
google avatar

Natalie K.

Yelp
We are gob smacked! After steamed dumplings with that incredible dipping sauce, garlic edamame, and the white ramen with garlic oil and the yuzu bomb for me, and the white ramen with the chili bomb and extra bamboo shoots for the hubby, we're both ready to put on our "fat" pants and binge some American Aristocrat's Guide to Great Estates with mega-satisfied smiles on our faces! We only have a picture of the edamame because we tore into the ramen like wild banshees. Rather embarrassing, but it's just that good! Michi and Tatsuya who?
google avatar

Ryan A.

Yelp
The Vibe: I went on a Saturday afternoon and basically had the place to myself! It was super cool inside and very inviting. They were jamming out to some really dope EDM remixes! The restaurant was very clean and tidy. The Menu: The menus offers a wide variety of Japanese classics but I specifically came for the RAMEN! There were so many options it was almost hard to choose! I ordered a fried chicken appetizer as well it was ok. The TakoYaki was exceptional! Service: Everyone was super nice and friendly. Overall 3 out of 5 stars. The food was great but the ramen was a touch too salty. Also the chicken appetizer with the honey mustard sauce was a miss for sure. Overall I would rate my food and experience: 3 stars shinning bright!

Perry F.

Yelp
Went here because Ichiban is closed on Tuesday. Basics - Slow service food was edible but many many better options
google avatar

Novalina N.

Yelp
I got the chicken katsu bento box and was super pleased by the generous portion. Yes, I like when my food comes in a big portion lol The bento comes with chicken katsu, rice, california roll, salad, and a dumpling and a spring roll. The chicken katsu is crispy and they use white meat, which is my preference. I ate in the restaurant and there's no one else inside at 130p. Service was very attentive.
google avatar

Daysi L.

Yelp
We had some difficulty finding it because the address did not really show that it was all the way behind the plaza. We went in an our server was very nice. We got the lunch special, because everything else was pretty expensive . The poke and ramen were mostly priced around $14-18. The lunch specials were $15-16 but sounded like a lot more food. The miso soup was very good! The egg roll and dumpling were delicious, and so was the main entree in each. The sushi was very underwhelming as expected from a california roll and i did not like the salad at all. I would recommend if you have a taste more inclined towards japanese cuisine. I'm not so much, but it was still a good meal.
google avatar

Ellie S.

Yelp
I visited this place for light snack with drinks. It was after the peak break, so we were the only customers when we were here, I liked it was nice and quite. We got beer and hot sake as well as spicy edamame and salmon poke. I looked up reviews and seemed like this place is popular for remen, but it was dang hot outside, so we didn't feel like eating hot stuff at all. For the sake bowl, you can get to choose protein, vegetables and sauces. We picked spicy salmon, seaweed salad, spring onions, avocado and it was pretty good. Service was very fast and the staff were all friendly and attentive. We didn't try much, so I can't really say this place was good or not considering the sake bowl we got was pretty standard (I've had better), but maybe I'll give it another try for ramen later and edit my review for that.
google avatar

Ann G.

Yelp
This place is not bad but it is not my favorite. First of all, we sort of had a hard time finding this place with the address provided on here but we kept driving around the mall and we found it close to Panda Express. Also, do make a reservation because they limit the amount of people in their dining area. I ordered the Red Tonkotsu Ramen. It was good. The broth was kind of salty for me but I think it's because of the added seasoning on this ramen. This was supposed to be spicy but it wasn't that spicy which is fine. We also ordered the chicken heart, ribeye, baby octopus yakitori. I am docking off 1 star because of these items. It had too much sauce for us that it didn't go well with the meats. Overall, I do recommend this place especially for the ramen and prices because it's pretty reasonable in comparison to other ramen places.
google avatar

Carrie S.

Yelp
The food was excellent. Our waiter Max was awesome friendly and gave good recommendations. We had the Chicken Rice Bowl and two sushi rolls. Soooo great. I highly recommend this sushi rest. With nice lighting and it's clean. Yes. It is in a strip mall next to Anytime Fitness.

Yelp
Now that I have two visits under my belt, I thought it was time to do a review. First visit was on a rainy day and second was fir my mom's birthday. Plenty of parking but the navigation takes you elsewhere for some reason. Service has been top notch each time. Friendly, attentive servers that are knowledgable about their top items, especially when I had ramen novice with me. It was a bit dark inside so on our second visit, we asked to sit under a light so we could see our food. Each time we ordered the wings and garlic edamame. SO GOOD! Everything came out piping hot and fresh. My mother loves when food comes out hot so this scored big points with her. The wings are sticky but packed with flavor. The garlic on the edamame is delicious and you'll be licking your fingers! I ordered the black garlic ramen which has yummy flavor but not too rich. My dad had the red broth the first time and it was crazy spicy- like sit on your tongue with no relief spicy. He also ordered the pork cutlet which alone is a bit bland but when dipped in the sauce or your ramen, comes to life. My mom had the brown broth and really liked it. She tried the bulgogi the second time around but still preferred the brown broth from her first visit. The place was pretty busy the later it got. Everyone wore masks and they respected the distance needed. There were plenty of to-go orders too!

Yeonsoo J.

Yelp
i loveeeee this place!! this is one of my favorite ramen spots in austin. they did shorten the ramen options but they're still really tasty. Sushi is also a slay. Customer service is really good too if that matters to you! Please please try this place it's amazing
google avatar

Taylor W.

Yelp
Always love eating here. Pretty much became a regular! I love get the spicy miso ramen but they have a bunch to offer
google avatar

Katie G.

Yelp
Solid spot for ramen! It's actually a pretty large menu and I would be interested to go back and try more. This time, I just tried the vegan ramen. I thought it was good and flavorful-a really big portion too (brought home a second dinner as leftovers). We did wait about 40 minutes for 2 bowls of veggie ramen-our waiter kind of disappeared during this time and we couldn't get our waters refilled either. When the food did come out, he did apologize for the wait. Understandable on a weekend night and I would come back!
google avatar

Collins D.

Yelp
The ramen here was great and the tonkotsu was buttery. I especially loved the staff and my hostess rinda who was attentive and so nice, it made the experience amazing. I got the tonkotsu ramen and katsu combo since I'm always eating a lot of food I was full from everything and the taste was great but the price is definitely a bit high so I will probably only come here every now and then when I'm really craving ramen. It was a great experience though
google avatar

Aude L.

Yelp
Ichi umi is seriously underrated. The Red tonkotsu ramen is the best ramen I've had in all of Austin. My fiancé loves the brown tonkotsu. For some reason, it never has a wait to get seated. Portions are very generous and I always get two meals out of my ramen.

Yelp
TLDR: fantastic all around. For food: we had a variety of dishes here. For starters we had the Tako Yaki, the Edamame, and the Cashu Yaki. The Tako Yaki was very good, as was the edamame. The Cashu Yaki was absolutely sensational. Perfectly tender, and phenomenal flavor. For mains we had the red ramen, the Unagi Don, and a Poke bowl. All three of the mains were fantastic. Really no complaints as far as atmosphere. The restaurant itself is a little cramped, but the tables are well spaced to accommodate it. For the service, the only problem was the dishes came out somewhat irregularly, which was less than ideal. Our waitress was very attentive and polite through our whole stay.

Yelp
I had a craving for udon and katsu tonight () so I tried this place since Maru was closed. Pretty easy to order with grub hub. Pickup was easy and takeout was packaged really well. Overall I liked the ramen and the black broth was very tasty and very hot when I opened everything up. However the pork katsu was VERY DISAPPOINTING. The portion was large but I barely ate 1/4 of it. The fried portion/ breading was overdone/ slightly burnt on EVERY SINGLE PIECE!! The meat was dry which is hard to do with pork. The worst insult was that there was no katsu sauce! The strange orangish brown sauce they included seemed to be ketchup with mayo and BBQ sauce? It was pretty gross especially for $20 for the plate with a small scoop of rice only. Also FYI the soda was fountain vs can.

Yelp
Came here for a late night dinner! They had a lot of izakaya options so our group ordered a bunch of small plates to share. The pork belly was especially delicious!

Yelp
This is my favorite existing ramen place. I live in Georgetown so this is quite a trek for lunch but the bulgogi ramen is 100% worth it! My husband loves the don katsu. This is an enormous portion!

Yelp
Slow service on a slow night. Seriously? Did they forget about our Hamachi? We went early, before any rush. They had 3 servers tending to 6 tables so do the math. Our server forgot about my water so I had to ask again for a glass 10 minutes later. Eventually, our Hamachi never came and we had a pile of dirty dishes that never got picked up. The manager wasn't any help since we couldn't flag him down in this small establishment. He simply wasnt paying attention to any of the tables. And they're not like some huge dim sum restaurant where they have a sea of customers. It would help if he actually looked at their tables. Then perhaps he would notice people trying to get his attention. Finally, we finished dinner and gave up waiting on our grilled Hamachi. We had to ask them to remove that from our bill. If you like good food and don't mind waiting half the night to get bad service, then this is your ideal place for a Friday night! P.S. Sunny K, from the business, thinks my review is funny. How professional of you that you would laugh at your own bad service. I'll be sure to tell all my friends as well as coworkers from Camp Mabry to not spend their money at your establishment. Thank you.

Yelp
For Austin Ramen, I would have to say it is pretty good. I grew up a young lad eating OC Ramen and you can't beat the quality. The food: I suggest getting the black tonkotsu. Has a lot of black garlic oil flavor and if you like spicy like I do, ask to make it spicy or have them bring you a side of it. Do not put all of it in until you try a little bit of the spice in the soup first. Fair warned. For me, I put it all in but I have the tongue of dragon. Didn't try too many other things yet but the chicken Karaage was also decent. Came out hot, good flavor, but I would say the texture is a little too much like Chinese chicken that has been sitting in the buffet line a little too long. Odd. But still decent flavor with the lemon and honeymustard sauce they serve it with. I've read a few negative reviews but I gotta say to give this place a 1-star or even 2-star is not fair at all. The food came out hot, flavorful and fresh. It's not the best Ramen you will ever have, but the overall experience deserves a better than average review. Good job IchiUmi. I shall be back!

Yelp
Have eaten here quite a few times since moving to Austin. Food and service has always been excellent and this meal was no exception. My go-to meal is the Don Katsu Ramen. I highly recommend getting the red broth, but be warned it is on the spicy side. If spicy is not for you the brown broth is also really good. If you come for lunch the Don Katsu bento box is are another excellent option.
