Introducing the World’s “First Fusion Food” – Macanese Cuisine

"Recognised with both a Bib Gourmand and a MICHELIN Green Star, this educational restaurant is highlighted as the place to experience Macanese classics: Tacho, a stew that marries Portuguese chouriço with Chinese lap cheong, local vegetables, and balichão; Porco Balichão Tamarindo, which lifts pork with tamarind’s sweet tang and the umami of the signature shrimp sauce; and Minchi, a comforting stir-fry of minced beef and pork with soy and potato, typically crowned with a sunny-side-up egg." - Hei Kiu Au

Earth Day: How MICHELIN Green Star Restaurants In Asia Are Doing Their Part With Sustainable Practices

"Serving European and Macanese cuisine as a training unit for hospitality students, this advocate of organic agriculture grows herbs, salad leaves, and vegetables on-site. To sustain an organic ecosystem, students practice crop rotation and biological pest control so ingredients are served in optimal condition. In both teaching and cooking, food scraps are minimised; waste is converted into fertiliser by a decomposer and returned to the garden. Energy and resource use are curbed through a solar energy system, a paperless policy, and infra-red sensors for electrical appliances." - Pearl Yan

Earth Day: How MICHELIN Green Star Restaurants In Asia Are Doing Their Part With Sustainable Practices

"Serving a mix of European and Macanese cuisine while training hospitality students, this teaching restaurant champions organic agriculture with homegrown herbs, salad leaves, and vegetables. To sustain an organic ecosystem, students practice crop rotation and biological pest control, and the team strives to minimise food scraps both in teaching and cooking. Food waste is converted into fertiliser by a food decomposer and used to nourish the on-site gardens, while a solar energy system, a paperless policy, and infra-red sensors for electrical appliances reduce energy and resource consumption. “The restaurant was set up as an educational training unit to sustain the development of Macau’s hospitality industry… Food waste is converted into fertiliser… We are committed to reducing energy and resource consumption by using a diverse approach involving a solar energy system, paperless policy, and infra-red sensors for electrical appliances,” the team notes." - Pearl Yan

Visited for dinner on a saturday night. They only had a buffet option at the time, which turned out great as it allowed us to try a wider variety of food than we would've been able to if we had to order full-sized portions of each dish. Both the food and service were very good, and there was also live music of older songs. It would have been nice if some of their fried food and cakes could've been warmer, but overall the quality was great! :)

Price:$$ Pro: top of the hill, relatively quiet, spacious, traditional fine dining food Con: limited parking, relatively hard to book This student restaurant is situated at the top of the hill and next to the educational catering school. The décor were modern and each table are well spaced out. My first postive impression was the freshly baked bread that come with the table. It is rare in Macau to find this traditional and delicious western style bread. My gf and I ordered the lunch time set menu (as it is shown in the picture). All courses are nicely decorated and appeasing to the eyes. However, I find the mushroom tart a bit dull and required a bit of acidity to brighten it up. The main course were excellent, however the monkfish is at the boarder of overcooked. Finally, the mille Fleur dessert was heaven in the mouth, but it took quite a bit of battle and a mess to break up the pastry (it is too hard and the cream squeeze out everywhere). My gf enjoyed lemon dessert. The acidity of the lemon is really sharp (overpowering) and the sweetness of the cream comes after the initial acidic bomb. But still, I think those who like sour will enjoy this dessert a lot more than I did. The service was good, but there are lots of thing students yet to learn... (The service was pleasant but clumsy) Overall, definitely will go there again and recommend anyone who wants an inexpensive fine dining experience.

Buffet for Saturday. Reasonable wine price, and no service charge, tax, and tip. Perfect place for birthday. Michelin restaurant from 2019.

Love this place. The food is great and the price is reasonable. It's just a little bit difficult to get to and far away from Taipa even with taxi. Do expect inexperienced students there to serve you. After all, it's a restaurant to help students learn. After meal, you can stroll around to get a taste of Macau away from casinos and other tourist spots.

This is a beautiful, spacious restaurant with good views at the top of Mong-Há Hill. It’s used to train students at the nearby institute of tourism. It was a novel experience to be served by very inexperienced waiting staff, who were watched and instructed by their eagle-eyed instructors as to how to set the tables, and exactly how to serve the dishes. At one point my starter was taken away momentarily as the student had placed it on the table with both hands, and was instructed to do it again more elegantly with just one. There was another student whose sole job seemed to be to learn how to pour water elegantly at the table. To start with she wobbled all over the place, but by the third attempt was beginning to get the hang of it. The students were all lovely and clearly trying to do their best. The food was excellent and the set lunch was good value. There is no service charge and the bill asks you not to tip.
