Really excited to see IKEA opens in SF. Three levels with plenty of products and furniture to browse and shop. Friendly staff with great service. Nice and clean store. Inspired by different room decorations. I got many planter pots and stand here. Will come back again. Down side - no free parking here :(

First time checking out the new Ikea. Really nice!! Enjoying a snack at the food court above the store. Several options including Algerian, Swedish, Mexican, Momo Noodle. Even a bar. Nice seating with large windows onto the street. Fun place to hang out/ have a drink after an outing downtown.

This IKEA offers a safe parking space for my bike while shopping. This store is much smaller than the ones I used to go to. But they do seem to have the few items I was looking for. This store seems very new and clean, they have few security guards at the main entrance to keep homeless and crazies away which is a huge welcome. The restaurant is small but have similar meatballs plates that is good, tasty and reasonably prices.

Ikea is a great place to shop for home items - big and small, simple and trendy. We applied for an Ikea credit card, got approved and bought a bed, mattress, sit/stand table, 3 book cases and kitchen wares. The associates were very helpful. The big items were for delivery. We got emails updating us on the delivery date and times. Items arrived in great condition and were assembled without any issue. After buying the big items, a friend donated a bed and mattress and so we returned what we bought. Return process was so easy; we just called Customer Service and they scheduled the pick-up of the items. Easy-peasy! Now that we have an Ikea card, we will have more shopping experience in the future.

Always a pleasure to check out Ikea, this bistro, restaurant, saluhall and market place offer great food in a great price. Very enjoyable.

It’s been 2 weeks since I’ve been lost inside of this San Francisco IKEA. I’m writing this 5 Star review in hopes that someone who cares will come and find me. I’ve managed to survive this long by eating the steamed vegetables left behind on kids meals in the cafeteria, and kept myself clean through the kindness of strangers letting me inside the code-locked gender neutral bathrooms. Please send help. This all started when I went against the painted arrow traffic lines on the floor. I’m now stuck in a cycle in their HOVET mirrors and MALM displays. I’m currently camped in a makeshift shelter made of HAUGSVÄR and YTTERVÄG. I’m not sure how much longer I can take the royalty free music.

Store is at best location and i love how easy we could get there by bart, love the layout and we could have so many idea for our living room. Will come back again soon

Disagree with the low score from some of the reviewers - just because the showroom is small and there’s no warehouse. I think IKEA is doing a good thing for the city, considering how bad market street is. Truly appreciate IKEA opening a store now and here amid all the downfall of SF downtown. thank you, IKEA! The place is smaller than regular ikea but still a lot of fun and very practical for people live close by. Parking is $20 at 6x6 garage, which is not ideal but what you gonna do?

If you have the time and a car, I recommend the extra time to go to the Emeryville location. It's much larger and easier to navigate. The parking situation was confusion and you have to pay for timed parking. The store itself is okay. It's just feels like a smaller ikea. It has all your ikea staples and popular items.

Cheaper parking nearby (about 10min walk) is still $5 an hour The store is tiny, the restaurant is tiny There is a security person at every inch of the store to a point that makes you uncomfortable. I understand it's necessary given the situation but still. Unless you really live in the city, otherwise don't go to this location, go to the one in East Palo Alto, so much better

This is a sad IKEA when you compare it to the Palo Alto and Emeryville location. It's split up into 3 levels and each level is pretty small. It feels very disjointed. There's a lot of security o everywhere but they're often either chatting with other staff or looking very apathetic about their job. It was a little confusing to navigate through the floors and I didnt like having to navigate between floors if I wanted to go back to a particular section. The food court even seemed lackluster. We got a gooey chocolate cake which was basically a flattened pie slice shaped underbaked brownie, not even worth the $1.50 price tag. This was a very sad visit.

This review is only for the Swedish restaurant portion. I ordered the Swedish Meatball combo with drink and small salad. You order on the touch screen, and the food came really quickly. The food was OK and didn't taste super fresh, but that's how it is with quick service eateries I guess. I had to ask them for dressing for the salad, they didn't offer it. Once I asked, they gave me 4 dressing options which was nice. The portion size was small but it cost about $13 so it's not bad for the price I guess. I'd only come back if I want a quick meal or snack. The restaurant wasn't that crowded on a Fri evening at 6pm. The dining area was clean.

I'm obsessed with the new food hall. Although i didn't get to try it, there's so many options and eateries. I tried Ikea meatballs for the first time and I was a fan. There aren't a lot of choices on their menu for now, hopefully that changes but the food was good and came out fast. The sparkling Lingonberry was my favorite. The gravy adds the best flavor to the meatballs. It's an affordable meal, I would even be able to eat a kids size and feel satisfied. Its cafeteria style but they have seating inside. This Ikea isn't as big as others like Emeryville. The Saluhall is a Swedish style food hall featuring plant based foods. There are burgers, noodles, Indian fusion street style, Puerto Rican food, Vegan Mexican eats, a bakery, soft serve ice cream + more. Be sure to check it out! I love how it looks, it seems like a great place to study, hang out with friends, or grab a drink at the bar.

Honestly so solid for a quick and healthy meal. Entrees are 50% off in the summer and something about the food court food just hits every time. I also got a (strawberry?) softserve which I thought was a bit too sweet and melted very fast. Also the fountain drinks were unique and very healthy tasting including sparkling pear and even the cola tasted not very sweet. Parking is tough and market street is hectic especially if you have heavier items to haul out of there.

This review is for the food court! Service - I believe they are all self serve kiosks. Pretty easy to order from. Some of the machines are a little laggy though, but functionality works very well. Selection - most items are generally available daily, but the second time I went, garlic bread or toast wasn't available. Value - IKEA is running summer deals every Tuesday and Friday. I would definitely recommend going on Tuesdays or Fridays for the deals. Otherwise, the prices are definitely a little higher than what I had remembered from years ago. For the deals, you have to be an IKEA member and have to sign in to see the discounted prices. Meat balls - still super delicious. Def get on a deal day. Strawberry soft serve - they didn't have the vanilla one that I had remembered from years ago, and that came with a cone. This one came in cup, which was a little disappointing and it's more like soft serve and not ice cream.

Came in to grab a bite before watching the pride parade! Lots of vegan options at the deli, I tried the plant dog and veggie dog, both of which were delicious. Also incredibly cheap- the veggie dog is 65¢ and plant dog is 70¢. Workers in charge of the bathroom were super nice.

This ikea is not ran like a normal ikea. Location is probably the worst, located in SOMA where there is absolutely no available street parking, if you find a space, it will most likely be yellow zone aka ticket or tow away. It's a smaller ikea with 3 floors, you can get your essentials and small items. All bigger pieces and furniture are delivery only. For a smaller store they manage to have put together some great showrooms. I came in a few times to pick up small things to avoid driving to emeryville or Palo Alto. To say service is slow, it's an understatement. It's extremely difficult to get any help and the workers are very slow and inefficient. Would not recommend this location unless you absolutely need something.

This is about the Swedish deli on the second level. I've been curious about the Swedish meatballs, and wanted to try them. Hubby & I had an opportunity this past Tuesday. The store opened at 11am. We entered the store through the one security checkpoint. We weren't looking for anything specific. More curious than anything else. After walking around the 1st floor we took the stairs up to the second floor. I smelled the deli before I actually saw it. Like many self serve places here you order on the touch screen kiosk. Hubby & I ordered the meatball plate. Paid with a credit card and a receipt was dispensed with our order number. The wait was short as we beat the lunch crowd. Our number was called. We found a seat. We enjoyed the meatballs but thought they were a little salty. Our curiosity was satisfied.

*******This review is focused on the food court.***** I was curious and wanted to know if the food was just as good as I remembered it to be when Ikea opened its first store in Emeryville (2000). The food court is simply decorated; tables/chairs clean and no debris on the floor. The restroom is located on the same level and is located in the food court area. There are three restrooms which are monitored by a security person. Security is cordial and when I told them that the restroom needed cleaning, they had someone clean it in a reasonable amount of time. In most food courts, you can smell aromas. This food court didn't have any. You order on a kiosk and pay. You wait for your number to be called on your a receipt; pick up your food and look for a table. It reminds me of any fast food places except that this place is clean and not greasy. The wait was about 10 minutes for my food to arrive. The containers/utensils/napkins are recyclable. The bins are clearly labeled: compost/recycle/trash. The only complaint I have is that the recycle bin was overflowing. It seems weird that the workers didn't notice this when Ikea is all into recycling. I just disposed my trash in a bin that wasn't filled. Yes, that's bad but didn't want my trash to overflow onto the floor. Meatballs are 4 for $1,50. It comes with a tiny flag - well presented. The bite size meatballs are smaller than what I remembered. The gravy tastes better than the meatball. I suggest you get two orders of the meatball. Cinnamon bun ($1.50) wasn't warm nor hot. It looks like it was there for a long time and stale looking. I would not recommend this. Mac and Cheese ($3.99) looks awful but surprisingly it did not taste bad. I ate it with the meatball gravy and it was yummy delicious. I would order this again with an order of the meatballs. When mixed, it was great. The Cappuccino ($3) was luke warm and served in a stained cup (the lip of the cup looked like lipstick stains). I told the cashier and he said it was probably some strawberry syrup that got on the cup. I asked for a Cappuccino replacement. The cashier had to ask his supervisor if I could get another Cappuccino. I then had to reexplained and showed the supervisor the stained cup. After some hee hawing between the supervisor and workers, they agreed to make me a new Cappuccino. This experience should never happen. How can they expect a customer to drink from a stained cup and make them pay for a replacement? My total bill for lunch was $10.85. I won't go out of way to eat here but if you happen to be in the area, give it a try. It's fast, clean environment and efficient. Food is decent for the price. After eating, I roamed the store. You can find sale items throughout the store. I had to remind myself that "I don't need anything." It was difficult but I did end up purchasing a panda stuffed animal that I couldn't resist. Their self check out is great and there are many staff standing by to offer assistance. The staff is personable, approachable, friendly, and pleasant to deal with. This is a great place if you need anything - from furniture, linens, food items to measuring spoons. I will return to buy the frozen meatballs and other entrees. They are all reasonably priced. When I return, I might try the the hot dogs in the food court. I never had Sweden hot dogs before.

IKEA! I have Ikea in my room right now. They have Ikea in emeryville and Palo Alto and the old one in Baltimore MD This one opened and it's welcoming and fun like the old Ikea's years ago now They have Christmas things and I had some food..hot dog frozen yogurt and a fountain drink it's super fun Ikea!

While the pre-designed showrooms in the basement look quite stylish and use the small space efficiently, I actually came here to try the famous Swedish Deli on the 2nd floor. It seemed like almost all of the hot food items were also available for sale nearby in the freezers. While the food was decent and reasonably priced (for San Francisco), I couldn't help but think that it tasted like frozen food I could warm up at home. Swedish Meatballs: The traditional meat balls were chewy and snappy. Reminded me of frozen dinners. I prefer when Swedish meatballs have that more granular homemade texture. The mashed potatoes were smooth and went well with the gravy and meatballs. The peas and lingonberry added nice vegetal bitterness and sweet tart contrast to the richness. Veggie Balls: With visible pieces of vegetables, kinda tasted like those old school veggie burgers that came to market decades ago before the new wave of fake meat. Liked the uniqueness, but not a fan of the weird green gravy. A brown gravy (perhaps mushroom based) would have been better. Plant Balls: Tasted like that new wave of fake meat, very similar to the real meat. The brown gravy was almost identical too. I probably wouldn't notice if you swapped these out for the real Swedish meatballs here and didn't tell me. Salmon Fillet: Probably the only place in San Francisco where you can get a salmon meal for under $10 (excluding tax)! It's not fancy or wow worthy salmon, but it does the trick for a salmon fix. I like the corn veggie medley with and the herbal sauce is very nice. Veggie Medallion: They little hockey pucks feel like a mishmash of veggies with a little bit of carby binder. It's a decent pairing to the salmon. Mac & Cheese: Better than the box stuff, but basically tastes like frozen microwaved mac & cheese. Sparkling Raspberry: Not as sweet as regular soda, but still sugary enough to make you realize this is a soda and not a sparkling juice. No lids and straws anywhere, so you can't take this to go whilst shopping.

Came by the other day to check out the newest IKEA in town and it was a decent experience. IKEA is located on Market street and in front of the Powell BART/MUNI station. Security seems to be a big idea at IKEA. There was a uniformed security officer manning the entrance of the store and exits were one way only. IKEA staff were dressed in yellow and blue Hej! clothing with name tags. There were both plain clothed and uniformed security officers roaming the store that was spanned over 3 levels, the street level, the basement, along with the upper level. The city version of IKEA features mainly showroom space along with a small selection of knick-knacks. There was a Swedish bistro that served smoked salmon salads. The restrooms were manned by security guards in uniform and disposable nitrile gloves.

Visited the second time on a Wednesday after work. This time went straight upstairs to the Swedish Deli restaurant. What a huge difference from opening day. No more long lines to order. There are 3 large touch screens to self order and pay from. It's a bit laggy. Some items were not available. The prices is very affordable. We got the kids plant ball meal which comes with 4 pcs of plant balls with gravy, mash potatoes, peas and a big dollop of lingonberry jam - $4.49, a side of regular meatballs 4pc for $1.50, vegetable medallion - $3.49, a slice of Daim cake - $1.99 and a frozen yogurt for $1.50. The adult size meatball plate was $9.99 and the plant ball plate was $8.99 which the difference is 4 pcs more of the meat/plant balls. Maybe the mash and peas was bigger but getting the kids plate with extra balls was more economical for me. After ordering you get a receipt with a number and wait to be called. One of the kiosk didn't give me a receipt but it wasn't a problem. Service was quick. The meatballs is tender. The plant balls was ok. The taste is different and I could get use to the plant base version but still much prefer the meat version. Not sure there's yogurt in the frozen yogurt as it didn't taste tart at all. It tastes like a vanilla soft serve which paired really well when eating with the chocolate-almond cake. You can have the soft serve in a cup as well for the same price as the cone. The vegetable medallion, I would totally skip next time. It was potatoes and maybe onions shaped into a medallion. I liked the crispy exterior but I already had mashed potatoes so I wasn't expecting more potatoes. The dining area is quite big. With a mix of standard and bar height tables and chairs. There's a soda fountain with a ketchup/mustard station next to it for the hot dogs they also sell. There's also restrooms here with key pads and a security person to let you in. You can also find a water fountain by them. Side note: I did not know ikea carried seasonal items. They have some Halloween decorations out right now.

Some of my favorite things I bought from IKEA: A sofa so comfortable I paid as much to recover it as I bought it new; a kitchen table & chairs with seating I later reupholstered with French Country fabric from Britex. So I was looking for seating and storage ideas and was underwhelmed by the selection. I knew it would be scaled down but it was small. I did find some new sheets for my son's (IKEA Brimnes) bed. The restaurant was small and the lines were long. The registers are self check-out only and were challenging if you, like me, had a bagful of stuff from their Marketplace (it's a miracle I didn't decorate the floor with a jar of Sylt Lingon) My Swedish friend explained some of the kooky names. Even in Swedish not all of them made sense. If you saw two giggling adults, one of us busting out in dance moves to Earth, Wind & Fire, that was us. In all, I like IKEA. This location is probably best for small items or room ideas - and certainly for a plate of meatballs, mashers/gravy & Sylt Lingon - if you can stand the line. The location in the struggling but rising mid-Market area is brilliant. The foot traffic was terrific, it added a new, vibrant spot that can sure use the boost. It's already adding a lot of positive momentum to the area- thank you, IKEA and Mayor London Breed!

Day One of IKEA down and it's still here. Lots of curious browsers and shoppers. Three floors of familiar furniture and home decor. Long line for the Swedish food court. A lot of enthusiasm from the staff. Opening day band but not ABBA, dammit. Hope it lasts but the persistence of homelessness in the area will make economic survival challenging. Who would have ever predicted an IKEA to open up shop in San Francisco? Although a surprise that this has opened on Market Street, in hopes of driving more foot traffic and turning the city around from what people deem "a doom loop." This is the spot to be to shop for bathroom furniture, home decor, tableware and when you've had a successful shopping trip make a stop at the Swedish Deli. For the first 500 people in line on grand opening day, they handed out blue Frakta bags which can be handy in any situation. Although the store is busy now since it just opened, I am excited to get the chance to take a leisurely stroll and discover new products on each floor!

There's finally an IKEA in the city! I visited around a week after the grand opening, and it was a fun experience! The layout at this location was clearly thoroughly thought out, everything was clean and well organized, and there were so many more staff members around to help than at any other IKEA I've been to before. I wanted to try the food court, but it closed early at 4pm. The one issue I have with this location is that there's no designated parking lot or garage for IKEA shoppers. Unless I'm buying something tiny and light that I can fit into a shopping bag, I'd rather drive all the way across the bridge to the Emeryville IKEA, which has parking.

This review is only for the Swedish Deli on the 2nd floor of the new Ikea on Market St. I ordered meatballs with extra meatballs at the self-service kiosk, and they were ready a few minutes later. The food was served in a compostable box with a wooden spork. The meatballs were tender and delicious - just a bit fatty with a nice meaty flavor, and were complemented perfectly with the creamy brown gravy and lingonberry jam. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes tasted like powered mashed potatoes, like what you'd get from a bad school cafeteria, and the peas were a very unpleasant yellowish green, as if they had been sitting in a steamer for a couple of hours. Although the sides weren't that good, the meatballs themselves were fantastic and I would certainly want to come back again. The price was super reasonable, and is a very good deal. Regarding the rest of the Ikea store - the entrance facing Market street is heavily guarded and access restricted, so the interior of the store seemed clean and safe, like what you'd find at any other Ikea. The store itself seemed pretty small - perhaps only 1/6 the size of a regular Ikea, with a strong emphasis on small items that can be carried home on foot. Unlike other American Ikeas, there is zero parking.

Boy! I finally get to see the once empty spaces of its all glass façade to be filled with...IKEA! Before this Swedish furniture store was up and running with a breath of fresh air, some of the retail stores like Nordstrom in Westfield were closed in order to make way for ones more diverse. IKEA had been popping up throughout the Bay Area and around the world while SF never had one, until now. My family and I had been to IKEA in east Palo Alto for the best needed items like steel utensil sets, if we didn't have enough. We even had lunch like Swedish Meatballs as its signature dish. Nothing like this ceases to amaze me more than what's given to us from the Land of the Fjords! Before my family might know what home furniture items to buy from IKEA, I came last night to purchase what broadens my horizons for starters. Take organic bilberry preserves for instance. While blueberries help reduce aging, bilberries help support eye health. A must-have if I were to browse further before purchase. I never had bilberry flavor ever since my family and I had been back home from Hong Kong several years ago. This year, I have one, just like lingonberries and sea buckthorns. It's good for IKEA in the Mid Market to have security and plenty of staff while hundreds of shoppers went in and out. Perhaps I could make a laundry list of home furnishings if I were to come back to IKEA again.

Maybe IKEA can save downtown SF? Lol come through! I'm definitely coming back for meatballs lol. Three stories - it's much smaller than a normal IKEA but also a lot more manageable and less overwhelming. I find the full on IKEA to be so daunting and fatigue-inducing lol. Relatively, you can move through this one pretty fast. I came through at 3pm on opening day - August 23, 2023. I was looking for giveaways but didn't really see any.. I got like one cinnamon roll sample and a sparkling drink sample. Someone please tell me they got here earlier and got better giveaways! So minus one star because I was disappointed they weren't passing out free IKEA blue bags at the door. For your everyday items, maybe less for furniture needs, this is a convenient location and here for you! I recently got a salad spinner and microwave splatter cover from IKEA - both were very well-priced yet felt like good quality. I think IKEA is great for kitchen items like this. So give this IKEA some business and maybe we can make downtown poppin' again! We need to give life back to this city!

My husband wanted to check out this location, but I already knew it was going to a BIG headache. Getting there was a pain because of traffic and you have to PAY for parking. The garage is monitored, but in order for you to take your stuff in their basket "cart", you have to let customer service know and leave your ID with them until you return their basket. Btw - no actual carts are available. There's a lot of security and a "secret shopper" who isn't very secretive since I felt like we were being followed from one floor to the next. It was a very uncomfortable shopping experience. I get that it's in a bad part of SF, but I was ready to leave. Would I come back here? Definitely NOT. I'd rather pay the bridge toll for the Emeryville location or drive the extra miles for East Palo Alto. These locations are much bigger. You can shop leisurely and comfortably without feeling weirded out by security.

This review is just for the food*Beware that the cafe has really odd hours! The first week it was open it was already closed by 530 even though the website had said 6. There was no frozen meatballs left and only a stray package of the veggie ones in the freezer section. Just this week we looked at the site and it said 12-5 so we went at 430, which is quite early given that most working hours are 9-5. Got takeout and it was not bad, $9 for the meatball and $8 for the smoked salmon salad. I wish they had separated the sauce/berry and the potato salad/veggies but overall great value & the taste was just as good as the Emeryville ikea. I would likely not come back to eat here until they have better working hours for the cafe.

Finally a new activity to do in SF. The place did its best to accommodate to a downtown location. When I came in, the coffee machine didn't work, and the cafeteria was closed. I was sad. Also, the elevators are kinda hidden, we had to ask how to carry our cart to upstairs. I think when we walk in, we saw the stairs, not elevators. We maybe tricked our mind. Anyways, that's inside is the same: show romes, plants, and small factory. The check out place is kinda small as well. Their stock is definitely smaller, so many things I wanted to get, but not sold there. I ended up getting a panda, which was very cute.

Time to get things for college and IKEA seems like a must stop for things needed for the dorm. This is a mini-IKEA that has very little other than small items, eg, blankets, kitchen utensils, mats, plants, and snacks. It looks like it's work-in-progress to expand, but more is online than at this store for now!

The food court is really where it's at. Yes the furniture has basically everything and can be shipped to your door unassembled which is perfect for city furnishing, but the food is Delicious cheap and great. Where else in SF can you get a salmon dinner for $11? There's something magical about their frozen yogurt that keeps my wife and I coming back. I would pick that over most ice creams any day. Service at the store is standard.

I could not go in because of the loud band outside I was so excited to have an IKEA in San Francisco. I planned a trip to come in and get a bunch of things, but was blocked by this obnoxious band outside on 08/16/24 at around 5:30pm. The music is so loud I could hear it from two blocks away, it's ear piercing and they're singing about really inappropriate things. It just ruined my whole day and my entire shopping experience because I could not even enter IKEA. I had a list of 30 things I needed to get, I've been waiting to go here once I had all my money saved up and a day off work. I am really disappointed that IKEA would prioritize this loud vulgar band over paying customers.

Very crowded when I got there because there was a fire alarm & everyone had to exit. Only two floors where open and it seemed small. The food court feels tiny comparing to other Ikea stores but there is tons of staff ready help you I'm so glad that Ikea is in San Francisco. I'm sure they will figure it out, maybe longer hours as well.

I was pleased overall. My first impression was that there were more workers than customers until I went to the lower level. I want this place to succeed so I can go to ikea without hopping on Bart or taking the car out. This ikea is supposedly smaller than most ikeas, but it did not seem small. There is a self checkout that isn't like a self service grocery store, and I am a little concerned to try it when I have freezer space for my Swedish meatballs. The exit door is in an area that looked like it was under construction, so we went out the entrance. I felt the area was safe, although tourists may feel a little wary if they walk much more west. That being said, it won't bother the rest of us. I like this store. It is clean and well stocked. It had nice displays of furniture for small apartments, which is extremely useful in the city. If you are looking for food, you will find a decent selection by the entrance as well as on the 2nd floor by the cafeteria Hubby used the extremely clean restroom, which seemed to be unisex private rooms. An employee will punch in a code, and you will have your own little bathroom sans tub. I am glad I came. I will return.

This is my second time shopping at the SF IKEA. Finally got to try their meatballs. I ordered the meatballs plate that comes with 8 meatballs, mashed potatoes, peas, and cranberry sauce for $10. I'm glad I added 4 meatballs for $1.50 more since this is my dinner. Around $12 something and got a free coffee by entering my loyalty card. I also bought a baking pan here for only $2. Only the display one was left so I took one and ripped off the sticker that covered the bar code. The self check out let me pay for it so it worked. I came on the day after Christmas after work, so it was really quiet. I'm surprised they didn't restock the baking pans. I'm glad IKEA opened in SF - a lot of good deals! Come before February to enjoy the 5% off loyalty card discount before they discontinue it. I won't go out of the way for the meatballs meal cause it's a bit small on the portion size. Wish it also came with spaghetti haha.

The review is for the food court. Over 5 people are waiting for one kiosk while other kiosks are locked. I ordered a strawberry vanilla mixed ice cream. The texture is watery, while the taste is bad. The photo shows an ice cream cone, but I got an ice cream cup. Overall, 3 out of 5. Probably won't try the food court again.

3 stars. Two floors open but no furniture...yet. IKEA restaurant is sometimes open and sometimes not...but no real schedule. Good accessories like sheets, pillows or even kitchen supplies. It's a work in progress.

I have recently moved so have needed this and that for my new place, and that is where an IKEA run comes in.  I was expecting this store in downtown San Francisco to be too pared down to be a real IKEA experience, so until today hadn't bothered to go there.  Wish I would have went sooner, because my gosh I was totally wrong! I wasn't looking for furniture, so wasn't paying attention to/can't comment on that part, but it was totally jam packed full of cool IKEA things and the store was much easier to navigate than the sprawling stores in Emeryville and Palo Alto. They really did a great job of setting up the place. I walked out with more items than I normally do. There weren't many people in the store when I was there. I think IKEA needs to work on promoting this location. For those complainers about the far from ideal parking situation:  maybe you're new to town? Because anyone who knows the area would be realistic that parking is not going to be convenient nor free in downtown SF.

Store is pristine and fun. Staff is helpful and friendly. Well stocked, saving me a trip to Emeryville and I can get what I need quickly.

Free hot coffee or tea (located on 1st floor, not in the cafeteria) for IKEA Family club members everyday. Smaller than average IKEA, so you can view lots of furniture, but can't bring any home -- you have to order delivery.

I visited the IKEA in downtown San Francisco and was positively impressed. It is on the smaller side, but still full of the wonderful ikea items! Lots of stations for payment and staff is very friendly and helpful. It is also next door to the new international food court and it feels like a destination spot!

Amazing new IKEA in San Francisco . A great layout and spanking new store in the middle of San Francisco. Yes you have assemble some of it. It is great to see San Francisco have some retail life again.

A convenient stop if you take the bus. Decent selection of household goods, basic rugs, and minimalist furniture. Staff is friendly and helpful. Restroom available near the little cafe. The organic lingonberry jam is yummy, similar to cranberry but sweeter and tastier. The cafe serves very good vegan plantballs and vegan hotdogs. But be aware the bun and mashed potatoes aren't vegan. What the heck, Ikea? Don't mix vegan food with dairy products because then it's no longer a vegan platter. Vegan means zero animal ingredients. And for me this also means zero child slave labor chocolate and zero Earth-destroying palm oil. Thanks for using canola oil.

Not your standard Ikea, since it's designed to be more walk friendly (in the heart of downtown SF, you really have to be). You probably wont go home with big items like dressers or cabinets, but you'll definitely find the odd one or two small items you didn't know your house needed. Still, the maze-like layout was pretty interesting and despite only being three floors, they were able to cram in a lot. The pay lines get crazy long so I highly recommend downloading the app, signing in to your account and pre-scanning your items! There's a separate checkout line for those who checkout via the app with their barcode ready.

I never thought I'd be gushing over a retail behemoth appearing in San Francisco. But these are different times, and I bow to their corporate wisdom. The sheer guts to secure & build out in the depths of COVID, one block from the shopping center where retailers are walking away from their leases. Ok, here's what I'm thinking. Yes, it's a dismal stretch of Market St, but surrounding it are high price condos & tech headquarters. Everyone needs furnishings & gadgets, & those on a budget or lack transportation can have their design & price points matched. So let's check out the store. Today's grand opening was a major party. The entrance was lined with flag waving employees brought in from all over to cheer on the new shoppers. First thing- an IKEA goodie bag, contents being a watering can, red heart plushie, & an IKEA rain hat, made from their iconic blue bags. Round the corner to face painting, selfie station, Task Rabbit free measure tapes & Ts, DJ, live band, but the highlight was Laundra Tyme adding flair to a stylish room. The store also has shelves full of rainbow flag bags. Clearly, IKEA did their homework & gets an Inclusivity Badge. I was surprised how much inventory they have on 3 floors. On this day the large crowds completely ignored those helpful floor arrows. No giant metal carts here. You get a blue tote or a wheeled plastic cart. I'm not sure what the process is to get furniture from the warehouse, but they do have a parking garage. I only saw self-checkout stations, I hope they don't lose too much money, the IKEA store in East Palo Alto took out all the self-check due to "shrinkage ". You can expect to see the same items as the larger stores, but scaled down and well curated. The cafe is much smaller, but equally efficient if you know how to order at a kiosk. If not, there's plenty of logo shirt wearing folks to help. I predict this IKEA will be a hit.

I'm super glad it is here, but am concerned this won't be the fix all for a struggling downtown. I was here around 3pm on the 2nd week after opening and it was pretty empty. Also the 2 things I wanted were out of stock (sigh)

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! IKEA has finally made it to San Francisco, albeit in a peculiar location. Despite that, I'm still very happy residents no longer have to drive over the bridge or to Palo Alto to get some smaller home decor items or for bigger decoration or remodeling ideas. The building is brand new and spectacular. I think it's about 50,000 sq ft? So much smaller than the normal IKEA warehouse store. There are 3 floors, that of course, are really well laid out and designed. It may be the first IKEA store I've seen to have a hybrid showcase and sales floor combined into a great shopping experience. I made it to the special preview over the weekend before it opened on August 23, and there were so many friendly staff ready to help. There was also a lot of visible security present, if you're wondering (and I know you all are!). Everything was so new, it even had that new smell all over the store! The store is separated into these categories on the 3 floors: 1st/Main Floor - small home decor, LIVE PLANTS!, mirrors, check out, the as is section, and a small grab and go food area. Basement - mostly all of the furniture. Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, living and dining room. Many show rooms and assembled furniture for you to look at and test. But they all have to be ordered. 2nd Floor - the restaurant! Go get your meatballs! The dining area is rather small, so I would take it to go or wait until the rest of the complex opens up. They don't seem to use their plastic plates and metal utensils here, which is probably a good idea. All the goodies can be ordered using digital kiosks that take almost every payment method. Also, most of the shopping you'll do will most likely be on this floor. It has all the accessories, kitchenwares, lamps, electronics, textiles, and other smaller items. I can't reiterate this enough, but I'm thrilled with this location so far. There are self-checkout machines on each floor, tablets that you can shop with, and live staff to assist too. You can even use their app to pre-scan all the items you're buying and then just enter in your payment at checkout! Awesome! The bathrooms are locked and need a code, but there are attendants to let you in and they're really nice. Only thing I'm sad is how dirty this store will get over time because of all the foot traffic. I'll still visit frequently though as a die hard IKEA fan!

The food selection is limited for now, when I went plenty of menu options including veggie balls were greyed out. The meatball plate is very heavy on the peas. We didn't realize that the adult Mac and cheese also came with peas, it's half peas. Everything is served in disposable containers. Looking forward to going back once the dust settles to try an expanded selection.

Dropped in on store today to grab some lunch and check out the store. I initially was not that fond of the self service pay machines but I ordered and got my food really fast. Food was good and fresh. There was a nice well kept sitting area. The staff person was very friendly and welcoming. The security personnel at the door of the entrance were different on my arrival and departure to the store and all were friendly and greeting me which was nice. The store has a nice frozen section which I haven't seen in other stores which is pretty and of course the store is new so it is nice. Welcome to SF @ IKEA!

I was so excited that Ikea was finally opening in SF because I live in San Francisco Richmond District on Geary Blvd, so I only have to take one bus to get to this Ikea! For years the only Ikeas that were close to me is the Emeryville location and East Palo Alto. both at least a half hour drive! I went on Sunday around 6pm they close at 7pm. When I went to the cafe the cafe was already closed! they close almost an hour and a half before the store closed! I like the layout of the store because the store is 3 floors and it is big! It is not as big as the East Palo Alto location, but you can get lost in this location. I got a few items that were on sale and I spent $130 which is not too bad. I was there for an hour. The one thing I think is kinda strange is that there is mostly self checkout. You order the furniture to be delivered and there is no parking garage or lot connected the one garage is the Mission and 5th a block away.

Worst customer pickup experience. Ikea San Francisco sent me a pickup notification link that didn't work. Their email sent me to a address different from the actual garage they use. No local store phone number. I eventually had to go into the store to activate the pickup. It took me an hour and a half to pick up the product. Never again.

IKEA food court, avoid the pizza-horrible tasting and cold. $2.72. Stock to the meatballs or check out their neighboring vegan food court w bars and coffee.
