"Rice paper lamps and shoji screens fill the dining room at this old-school Beaverton restaurant. Here, loyal regulars often opt for the generous bento, including the classic makunouchi-style bento served in traditional sectionalized trays. Check the specials boards for things like the surprise roll (yamaimo, tuna, and oba), father and son roll (salmon and ikura atop a California roll), and spicy baked scallops." - Janey Wong

Google
The most authentic Japanese restaurant. I love their food here. The place gets full fast because it’s not big and sometimes service can be slow but it really is worth the wait. The staff is very nice. I’ve been going here for years and I always end up getting the tempura. 8/13/23 As usual this place never disappoints. The food is great and the staff are welcoming and friendly. I always enjoy my meal.

Google
Ordered Unagi bento box with shrimp temoura and sashimi and it was yummyful and big portion for the price. The service was slow due to the place was busy. Expect to wait more than 30 minutes. Ambience is like being in Japan but in Portland, OR. Parking lot was dark and narrow parking spot. Reminds me of being in a ghetto area.

Google
What a wonderful little gem that serves traditional Japanese fair and sushi with that home cooked feel. This is where you go to wind down after a long work week to enjoy that dinner you definitely deserve. No rush, great service, priced right, and a menu that will make you plan your next visit. What more could you ask for? Service✅Food✅Atmosphere ✅ Mahalo Ikenohana! 🤙🏽

Google
The food and service were fantastic. With that mentioned, I'm not sure we would go back. The sink at the sushi bar was foul. Black mildew growing on the back wall and the area around it. The lock on the bathroom door was also broken. It's not a big deal, but it could lead to someone being embarrassed. I'm giving it a 3 star rating because the food and service were top-notch. As a small family owned restaurant, I know it's been hard for the last 3 years. But truly, if it was important, they could have taken the time to put a staneless steal back drop on the sink. Hopefully, they will install a stateless steal backdrop or equivalent. But I also wonder about the area we can't see.

Google
Very authentic. You walk through the door and its like a portal to Japan. The staff are very nice. The menu is great and has a nice mix of authentic & american style Japanese food. I got the sushi platter which had the classic nigiri sushi and the choice of any 2 rolls they offer. It was a lot of food and my dad and I both enjoyed it.

Google
I have been coming here for over 20 year and the food is amazing. However the customer service has unfortunately become way too bad for me to continue coming or to recommend to someone else. I can't even get a hold of someone on the phone to place an order to go. They will let the phone ring and ring and will not answer. And when I go in I'm told that it will take 2 hours for a simple on person meal to go. Can help but get the feeling that unless you're eating in they rather not help you.

Google
It has been years since we returned and was ready to reevaluate the restaurant. I like my Oyako don but my husband was not having the same experience. He found fish bone in his sushi sampler and also the teacup has a lipstick mark on it. So we concluded that we likely won't return for awhile.

Google
Very tasty sushi rolls, they made rice right; texture is good and flavors of stuffing inside out distinctly. Fried chicken (karaa ge) and tofu (Agedofu) are pretty authentic. Nabeyaki udon looks fancy and indeed it's also very delicious. Furthermore, ppl there are super friendly.

Chul L.

Yelp
Hidden Gem. Warm and welcoming experience. The sushi was amazing - so fresh and flavorful. We enjoyed the karaage, super sushi deluxe and curry udon, and it was an amazing choice. Service was a bit slow, but understandable as there were only two servers and the restaurant was packed! Really recommend if you want quality sushi. Their bento boxes for lunch are amazing as well. The tempura was spot on!

Yelp
For this 1/2 Japanese woman, I say it's the best Japanese restaurant around! Chicken katsu is made with breast meat. Tonkatsu is made with pork loin. My mom, who was born and raised in Japan, and 100% Japanese, likes their nabeyaki udon. My husband and son like their sashimi. Daughter likes their curry. This restaurant is always packed - both lunch and dinner. You might miss this little place in the Safeway plaza near Taco Bell and Dotty's. Don't be fooled by the mediocre outside because when you go in, you'll feel like you've stepped into an authentic place complete with japanese decor. Service is so-so and can be a little slow. They're not rude or anything, just don't seem to have any pep to their step. Have patience, your food will be worth the wait. For reference, I am adding a picture of their current hours (both google and yelp are wrong). Oh, they have a *delicious* saba mackerel lunch and dinner entree which I often get so I don't stink up my kitchen at home cooking for myself.

Gina S.

Yelp
My parents have been coming here for 26 years and I've been coming since I was a little kid and the food has always been really yummy and great quality. It's a cute little spot tucked behind Safeway and the waitresses are so sweet and provide great service. My favorites are the nabeyaki udon, beef teriyaki, and any of the bentos, but anything you get here will be good.

Yelp
Ikenohana is a very cool Japanese spot in Beaverton. The food is decent and it is priced very well. The staff is very friendly and are actually Japanese. It's rare to find a Japanese restaurant in Portland that is owned and operated by Japanese people so I thought this was a cool aspect of this restaurant. The interior decor is pretty dated but it is nice and clean. The service times were pretty long so that left a bit to be desired.

Yan W.

Yelp
I did take outs but recently I dined in for the first in awhile. We were one of the first to get seats but the ordering still took forever. With two servers who are also a little older plus maybe fewer people making food, our meal took 2 hours and we had to reach out to them and stop them in the middle of serving. I'm sorry we did that but the line was also incredibly long so we felt bad for waiting or staying longer. Aside from that, let's talk about the food! I got the tonkatsu lunch bento for $13. First of all, the price was very reasonable, other Japanese restaurants in the area would have the price start at $16 or so. Their fried things were very good in the past and they still ARE! Flaky, light, no oily feeling, it was fried wonderfully. The tempura shrimp did shrink a good amount but the shrimp and the veggies were fried wonderfully, too. The rice was lovely too, there is a difference! It also came with salad and miso soup and four california rolls and a little vinegar cucumber salad. We then ordered amae ebi (甘えエビ)sweet shrimp. They fry the head so it was very crunchy but sadly it was cold. The ebi was so sweet, juicy, and light. I loved it. If it wasn't almost $7, I would've ordered more servings haha. Anyways, I loved the meal though service was slow and because it was overwhelming for them, the service was not always nice.

Yelp
FIRST: Hours are wrong. I have tried to submit a photo to Yelp to have them correct it but they seem to not care. The restaurant closes promptly in the 8 o'clock hour. OK with that out of the way. The restaurant feels like you've stepped into a new world. They have no windows open to the shopping plaza, so the rice paper and wood light fixtures, sushi bar, and overall vibe make you feel almost like you've stepped into a family living room. The same people appear to have run this restaurant for many years. They have two lines of business - a fully featured Japanese menu, including daily specials then also a sushi menu that you use a pen and piece of paper provided at each table to order a number of rolls from. My dining companion usually orders off the regular menu and I usually order sushi. The sushi is OK, it doesn't "WOW!" me but it has always filled me up and been tasty, especially at the prices they charge. My partner's full dinner feels like a real bargain coming with a surimi salad (cucumbers, rice noodles, rice vinegar, sesame seed) and miso soup along with the main entree. This place is worth a try if you're in the mood for a family run Japanese restaurant with consistency over the years. Not much changes here, they aren't chasing trends, but the place has many repeat customers as noted here. I cannot speak to authenticity as I am not very knowledgeable about Japanese food.

Yelp
Ikenohana was always a childhood favorite of mine so I thought I would bring my son here for date night. We arrived around 5:30 on a weekday and it was only about half full. I was happy to see that the menu was the same as when I was a kid and we both ordered my go to, Bento A. It includes a perfect mix with tempura, sashimi, chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu and tuna/cucumber maki. Everything is cooked perfectly with the tempura light and crispy, the teriyaki tender and the tonkatsu juicy with a crunchy exterior. Service was quick and friendly and our included salads and soup arrived quickly. The portion was filling and satisfying. My son said this is his new favorite sushi restaurant and it will be a regular for date nights!

Nicol L.

Yelp
This is a small and authentic-looking Japanese restaurant nestled in a plaza. The curry is a must order! My friend had the curry rice and I had the curry udon, both were so much better than Glico cubes! They were both thick, creamy, and filled with good flavors. The suki udon had so many flavors inside that we couldn't tell if we liked it or not. Ikenohana probably isn't known for sushi as there wasn't much variety in the rolls--definitely catered towards more of a western audience. The waitresses were very sweet, helpful, and attentive.

Addison G.

Yelp
delicious and authentic. My family has been coming here for many years now and the food never fails to impress. They're consistent and delicious.

Karen L.

Yelp
My husband and I visited recently as we wanted sushi and other Japanese fare. I'd never had a Bento before and if you're looking to try a bunch of different things; I recommend it! Their tempura is 5 stars. I'd go back just to eat their tempura shrimp and veggies. The katsu was ok but the soup and salad as were fresh and delicious. I'd absolutely go back!

Sylvia C.

Yelp
The best Nabeyaki udon in town! Our family has been dining here for over 40 years, and Ikenohana has a special place in our hearts. My grandpa and his siblings who grew up in Japan had an affinity for Ikenohana's intimate style of home cooking, authentic flavors, the friendly faces of the staff who we knew for decades, and the warm sake. It's authentic Japanese home style cooking that's hard to replicate. Our fam favorites: - Bento A - Oyako-don - Saba Mackerel - Unaju or Unagi Bento - Katsu (avail in some bento or with combo) - Tempura (avail in some bento or with combo) - Sushi Deluxe - Combo (you pick 2 from list), our favs: Nabeyaki udon, Sushi, Tonkatsu, Tempura, Saba, Chicken teriyaki, Salmon teriyaki - Tempura ice cream IYKYK: their special secret salad dressing is very addicting - I know it's a very weird thing to say, but try it with the bentos or combos when you dine-in, and you'll understand. They really should bottle and sell it! We typically go for their cooked fare. Their sushi bar has one or two chefs, and it's good but we tend to stick to the classics and haven't really ordered any speciality rolls. Over the years, the secret got out and lines form at the doors before opening, and the phone lines stay busy so it's tricky to even order take-out without a wait. As our family grew (15+ ppl) it became harder to have dinners altogether here because they just can't handle that volume and the service can be a bit slow - it's great for tables of 2 or 4, possibly up to 6. I will admit the quality has also faltered just a bit, and possibly due to the increase in grocery prices but it's still very good...for example, in the past, the sunomono used to come with small shrimp, and they used to give you miso soup and salad even with take-out. You'll typically spend $20+ per person in most cases, especially for dinner, and it's worth it, but if you opt for just an udon or donburi it's actually pretty cost efficient. Support this local gem, hidden in a little strip plaza by Safeway and Taco Bell, and let's keep it going for another 40+ years!

Yelp
This Japanese restaurant is a bit tucked away so it's hard to go there unless you know of it. Although it was my first time visiting, it felt familiar because of the cozy vibes of the classic/vintage Japanese decor. They have an extensive menu but we settled on Chicken Karaage to share and a Sushi Deluxe plate for myself. The karaage was light and crispy. The chicken was juicy and had a lot of flavor from the marinade. Like a traditional karaage, no sauce is necessary, just a touch of freshly squeezed lemon juice is all you need to elevate the flavor. The sushi was great too! The fish was very fresh and the sushi rice was seasoned pretty well (I prefer a bit more rice vinegar, but it was still good). One thing to note is that the service is a bit slow since the restaurant was full and had only two servers. Overall the quality of the food is fantastic and very affordable! Highly recommend.

Frank C.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time here. I greatly enjoyed the Maguro and Salmon Nigiri and Rainbow Roll. And the seaweed salad was delightful. I loved the traditional atmosphere and the service was great. It's awesome to hear how long this place has been here and now I understand why. I'm grateful to have such a great sushi place out here in Beaverton.

Joanne S.

Yelp
Don't know how I've been living here only a few mins away and completely been sleeping on it. This place is good! Probably the most authentic Japanese restaurant in the area. Love the menu and there's tons of options for everyone. I would recommend the bentos! Great bang for your buck and you get to try a variety of items. Definitely limited hours so make sure you check their times before heading on over.

Amanda Z.

Yelp
This place has been an institution in Beaverton for Japanese food for as long as I can recall. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the food is tasty. The menu boasts sushi rolls, nigiri, sashimi and a plethora of noodles, don dishes, and tasty small plates. The restaurant is cozy and separated by cute shoji screen dividers for privacy. One item of note is given the size of the kitchen please be sure to be prepared to spend time waiting for food to arrive. Food is delivered fresh and as it is prepared but it can be a bit of wait,

Zelda H.

Yelp
Excellent sushi and sashimi! Very fresh and clean seafood. Authentic Japanese food. Always busy and just one wait person, but they do a fantastic job! Eat here often and tip well, and you will have a happy life. :)

Paul K.

Yelp
Authenticious japanese food in the greater Portland area! The bento box is well worth your trip. You will enjoy a diverse group of wonderful food items from rice, fish, rolls, fried veggies/shrimp, and terriyaki chicken. Seriously, this place will blow your tastebuds out the water. Furthermore, the decor in the restaurant gives the vibe that you are entering into a portal like through the wardrobe in Narnia into a little japanese restaurant. THEREFORE, some people have commented about service. I think we need to accommodate the cultural diversity and recognize that what is deemed proper and respectful can be different. For example, some asian cultures don't want to bother the customer, so that he or she can enjoy the experience and meal. Recognizing some of these differences can help you enjoy this wonderful establishment. Chicken karaage was wonderfully crispy. I didn't have the ramen, but some of the kids in the party ate some. And the ramen for sure passed the visual test, but next time I need to try it. Through and through, it is a great spot!

Dian K.

Yelp
When I first moved to Portland, I used to frequent this restaurant for lunch since my work was nearby. But then office moved and I never really went back. A couple days ago, I happened to be around the area and I gave it a revisit. Similar Japanese people still run the place (I think the son is doing the sushi counter now). The lunch bento is a good deal and came with a nice variety. Sushi was decent, but not wow (hence the 4 star) but all the 'warm' dishes are good. Definitely a solid choice for Japanese food around this area.

Erin M.

Yelp
This bento box was wow! It came with a cucumber salad and little soup too that were a nice appetizer. You can customize for what you want in the box and is super filling enough to bring half of it home for your next day enjoyment. It's a smaller place, so see if you can get a reservation as we had to wait a bit for a table to free up. Other than that, great and cozy spot with kind people. A little hidden gem!

Justine D.

Yelp
Beautifully crafted bento? Check! Portland still never fails to surprise me with its hidden gems. Ikenohana was recommended to me by a couple of friends who love bento, so I had to come and check it out for myself! In a post-pandemic, high-inflation world, the $15-$19 bento boxes are fairly reasonably priced, and still filled me up! Although service can be on the slower end, it is well worth the wait. The mackerel bento that I ordered came with fried tempura (perfectly fried - not greasy at all), delicious buttery mackerel, some California rolls, and sunomono (cucumber salad) to cut through the richness of the rice and fish. The other two people in my party were also impressed with their food and felt adequately filled up after the meal. Keep in mind that if you are on a time crunch, this restaurant might not be for you. However, if you have some extra time to sit down and wait for a delicious meal, this is definitely worth it!

C L.

Yelp
We love this place! Authentic Japanese dishes, flavors and just absolutely delicious. The sashimi is always fresh, the sushi rice is perfectly seasoned, the tempura is light and crispy, the karaage is super flavorful and the udon has the most wonderful texture. One note, the food can be slow but it's worth the wait.

Sharon D.

Yelp
Simply delicious. Decent prices for the quality of food. It's my go to when I want something nicer than track sushi and my husband (who doesn't like seafood) has a lot of options to pick from with their regular menu.

Dana B.

Yelp
Excellent Teriyaki Bento boxes! Served with teriyaki chicken, tempura vegetables and shrimp, sushi, salad with a yummy miso salad dressing, and a flavorful soup. It's filling, flavorful. It's my favorite every time I go!

Bennette I.

Yelp
This unassuming little Japanese restaurant is the perfect little suburbia lunch spot. Ordered the kara-age fried chicken bento which came with miso soup and a salad. The miso was flavorful and steaming-hit the spot. I was indifferent about the salad even though I finished it all. The dressing was a little thin so the flavor didn't coat the greens well. The Kara-age was everything!! Crunchy fried chicken so tender on the inside, cooked perfectly. The tempura included carrot, onion, squash, broccoli and shrimp and it was delicious. I gobbled it all up! The staff was quick and attentive. No reservations were required, walked right in on Wednesday at noon.

Anna C.

Yelp
We decided to try a new sushi joint. The place is extremely small. My family got all of their sushi. I had to wait another 45 minutes to get my Bento box. We were literally there for an hour and 40 minutes. The sushi wasn't extraordinary it was average.

Marshall W.

Yelp
Horrible! Opens at 5pm , I came in 5pm, the lady said no accept Togo order! What a joke!

Ralph B.

Yelp
Always great...This is such a treat for us....Service is deliberate and consistent with great respect and care.. Ambiance is ok, more fun sitting at the bar to watch the chef prepare everything...

Meek M.

Yelp
Not off to a good start. People who came in after our party, sitting next to us, were served first. Inconsiderate or racist as the party spoke Japanese maybe? Trying not to judge however felt so. Ordered assorted Sushi, Yakitori, Sukiyaki, Teriyaki steak. Food was ok... yakitori was flavorless. Sukiyaki was so sweet and the beef was super tough. Assorted sushi was ok. Sadly my fears of racist servers/owners seems real. We never were offered more tea although the table next to use received refills regularly. I had to ask for a tea refill. The table next to us that didn't get ignored were Japanese folks. I will never come back here. Interestingly when I came here with my sister in law who is Japanese the service was completely different. Hmmm.

Shirley K.

Yelp
I like getting the sushi here. The fish is fresh and I haven't had a bad experience in the 3x I've been here. They have good customer service. They do get a little frazzled when it is busy, but they are still very pleasant. I really like the décor inside the restaurant. It is very cute and cozy, reminiscent of traditional Japanese culture. They play soft peaceful, instrumental music with some songs recognizable from Studio Ghibli. I love the overall ambience of this restaurant.

Jina C.

Yelp
Fantastic sushi in the west side! Authentic Japanese sushi and the quality of fish were outstanding. The only thing is the wait can be long on weekends. Service is slow but it didn't bother me since good things take time HAHA. 10/10 highly recommend!

Rosalee A.

Yelp
Excellent food and wonderful service I ordered bento. . . .I have not had it since we lived for 3 years in Japan when dad was stationed at MCAS Iwakuni (it was cold bento then) What impressed me as soon as we entered was how much it brought back memories of small restaurants in town near the air station. My order included Tonkatsu, tempura (shrimp and vegetable prepared perfectly), 2 California sushi rolls, rice, soup and salad I brought home the tonkatsu and rice and ate the rest My friend ordered Tempura Noodles and edamame Both beautifully prepared.

Miguel S.

Yelp
Very nice place! Loved the quality of all the food I tried and it was very reasonably priced. I told them about an egg allergy and they exchanged the sauce in the salad for lemon, which I appreciate. Do note, the main dishes do arrive a bit slow. They bring their side dishes early (most dishes come with 3 starters) but the main dish is about 20+ mins after you order. Keeping the review at 5 stars since the wait wasn't that big due to starters, but might not be a good choice if you're low on time

Reid S.

Yelp
Best Japanese food I've found in all of Portland! My wife and I have come here probably 20x and LOVE this place! Never had a bad experience or bad meal here.

Tammy N.

Yelp
I always love their bento boxes! You won't be disappointed to give this place a try. I normally go there at open

L A.

Yelp
We had to wait about 20 minutes before we got seated while there were seats available. They didn't even hand us the sushi menu so I had to run to get it from sushi bar.took about 10 minutes to take our order then had to wait 70 minutes for our food. This was for just 2 people ! Not a large group. I really am trying to see the positives there for such a small business but the food quality was below average also. Not going back.

Rachel D.

Yelp
We've been going to Ikenohana for many, many years (like well over a decade) and have never been disappointed. The restaurant is small so there's almost always a wait during dinner time but you can make reservations. Because it's so busy, the food can take a little bit of time to come to you but the servers are all very hospitable. It's very traditional, classic food. The sushi is great and very high quality. Our other favorites are the grilled mackerel (delicious), beef sukiyaki (amazing, rich broth with beef, tofu, veggies and glass noodles), and the salmon teriyaki (somehow tastes pretty unique, a very thick wonderful teriyaki sauce).

Jina H.

Yelp
As of Feb 21st, 2021 Ikenohana is offering dine in and take out. For Sunday evening, I called at after 5pm to place an order for pick up and it took about 3 tries until I could reach someone. I was told they already had orders so the take out wait was going to be a hour which was fine with us. For dinner, ordered super sushi deluxe, bento B, gyu don, and curry rice with tonkatsu. FYI the to go orders do not come with salad, miso soup, and sunomono. Picked up and waited a little- the interior was set up with social distancing and dine in tables separated by dividers. Clear signs to only take off masks to eat as well. The super sushi deluxe was filling and had a nice balance of different styles as you get some nigiri, roll, and hand roll. The bento had a lot even without the sides like miso soup. The tonkatsu curry was good too though wished for a thicker and bigger piece of tonkatsu. The curry had lots of carmelized onions! The items were separated into one bag for hot foods and cold foods which was appreciated.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Update: Still love this place! Grandma has passed away but family still goes. I miss going w gma. The servers always remembered her and greeted her so it always felt like home. The bento sets give a lot of food and variety. I also like the curry plates. Yum. I'm getting hungry thinking about it. --------------------------------------- In the suburbs, this is one of the best Japanese food options. My family goes here frequently. My grandma is a regular, and it's the only place she requests to eat out. I think the food reminds her of her mother's cooking. The employees here are sweet and helpful. They do get busy but the food is worth the wait. I usually order saba or black cod and she usually orders udon. Sushi here is good most of the time and more consistent than many other places nearby. My parents usually get Bento S and share it. They also have a daily lunch special that is always a delicious and good deal. Their preparation of black cod is great if you can get it. Sometimes they sell out. I also love the appetizer agedofu aka agedashi tofu. It's my favorite one of any restaurant. I haven't been able to replicate their version at home yet. One standout thing about it is the spice they add on top. I think it's some sriricha

Seán O.

Yelp
Ikenohana is a quiet little Japanese restaurant tucked away in a square, so I didn't notice it right away, it can be a little hard to spot - but we finally came in today and ordered the oyakodon, karaage and the sushi deluxe plate. I am quite sad I didn't notice this place earlier. The sushi was so delicious it washed away my previous bad Japanese restaurant experiences away. The eel especially was quite good. The Karaage was like eating a fried cloud, the batter and how Ikenohana fried it was so light poofy and crispy and the flavor of the chicken was so heartwarming. The atmosphere is very warm and serene, quite relaxing. Our server today was very personable and welcoming which added to the experience. The pricing was quite nice as well for the quality of food here, so overall it was a positive experience and will definitely return.

Cella A.

Yelp
if I could give this place 10 stars, i would. the most healing, tender dining experience. the fish was a dream, melty w a wonderful mouthfeel. everyone i spoke to was so kind, so wonderful. i felt so taken care of. food arrived very quickly. the atmosphere was so peaceful & i left feeling so happy & fed, physically & soul-wise lol?!!! i'm so happy i found this place i will be back many many times in the future :) note: call to confirm their hours. on yelp it says they are open until 9 but they close at 8.

Kirsten C.

Yelp
Great food for an affordable price. My husband and I had a great spread of hand rolls, nigiri, and sushi rolls.

Pauline N.

Yelp
If you want authentic Japanese food and ambiance, you will enjoy the cozy Ikenohana!!! Having lived in Japan, I immediately resonated with the "feel" of the room. It was as if I was swept back into Tokyo! The service is stellar, the food very authentic and delicious and the prices are very reasonable! We want to go there often!! As noted by others, check their hours.

Michael C.

Yelp
Decor needs some updating, especially the floor. Other than that the food and service is excellent. Food value is good in my opinion. You will find Japanese families eat here, which means to me that it is good. I like to get a Bento combination and my wife enjoys their Sushi and grilled items. Low key and good food.

John V.

Yelp
This place has an authentic Japanese feel once inside. Being acknowledged and seated definitely takes time, but it's worth the wait. The Deluxe Bento dinner has enough food to seem excessive, but it is portioned conservatively and doesn't weigh you down. I added the Terriyaki Salmon. It was legitimately there best salmon I've had. The Chicken Tonkatsu was crispy and flavorful. I only took a small bite, but enjoyed it. You will wait. This is a slow-paced experience. Also +1 to the woman not putting up with this lady blocking the entrance. Highly entertaining.

Carly O.

Yelp
My family has been coming here for over 20 years and I still love to go back (I don't live nearby anymore). Yes the service can be slow (last time only 2 servers on a Saturday night), but they are nice and courteous. Bento A is my favorite, but you can't go wrong with their sushi, teriyaki chicken or tempura. Book a reservation for a big group if you can, otherwise expect a wait.

Cristian M.

Yelp
Been coming here for a few years now and the food is always consistent, for the most part. Usually go for the beef udon with some Oregon rolls. Occasionally they will forget the mushroom is the beef udon but I'm assuming it's because they are out. The sushi is always perfect and the crab salad they use taste great. The service is a hit or a miss but that's because they stay busy.

Yelp
COVID-19 update: During sit-down service prior to pandemic, this place took their time getting food out. Now, it's all take-out and they still need time. I just posted their updated 4-page menu. The karaage is still delicious! Super Sushi Deluxe Combination was good. The sashimi fish was good and fresh. The nigiri sushi was good but fish cut a bit small for my liking. The tekkamaki was really nice. The Makunouchi Bento was good. Tempura was crisp. This place is sill a neighborhood favorite.

Yelp
Okay to start, the food here is really good and probably the best Japanese food in the area, BUT it is very hard to get. Let me explain. I have tried countless times to call to place an order with no answer, well before they close. I have gone in person two or three hours before their posted closing times to find the place closed. And I have even been successful enough to get inside and end up not being acknowledged by a single wait staff for up to 10 minutes, even when they weren't that busy, so I just left. I have been lucky on a few occasions to get through to someone on the phone to place an order and even ate inside a few times, and while the food was really great the abysmal customer service kinda ruined the whole experience for me. Again the food is REALLY good which is why I keep trying to go back there, but I'm finding it harder and harder to get to so it's pretty disappointing.

Yelp
It's a great Japanese restaurant with a larger variety of traditional foods than you'll find at many places, not only sushi and teriyaki, though those are great. Things like shioyaki, natto, green tea ice cream. They are also very kid friendly. They had (have?) the first female full-fledged sushi chef (globally, I believe). So very pioneering, though you might not guess it. Lovely food.

Yelp
Awful! We waited for twenty minutes at the door, and no one even bothered to acknowledge us. The place was busy, but at least someone could have greeted us. We waited and waited and finally decided to leave.
