il Fuoco Pizza

Really delicious pizza made in a true wood-burning oven. We ordered the seasonal salad, which came with persimmon, pomegranate, and delicata squash; so fresh and flavorful. We paired it with a pepperoni pizza and it was perfect. The inside seating area is tiny, and you order at the counter before they bring the pizza out to your table. They do have a large outdoor patio, but it was way too cold to enjoy on the night we visited. Highly recommend and would definitely visit again!

Good but not great pizza. Taste is fine but the overall package is lacking a bit. The dough needs a little more flavour and chew, and perhaps being a little more well done would help it keep its structure instead of being floppy/soggy. Certainly serviceable if you're in a pinch or don't want to travel!

My fiancée and I just moved to the area and have been trying to find a good pizza spot. We loved the pepperoni pizza and can’t wait to come into the restaurant to eat, instead of just ordering delivery. Quality and taste were 10/10!

We had a really standout time here during our trip to California. After accommodating our larger group on the fly, each one of us were very impressed with our meals and experience. The place is small with an indoor section that also opens to a counter that can accommodate people on the “in”side and the “out”side, with an additional outdoor seating area running alongside the building where we sat. We each tried different versions of their wood fired pizzas on the regular menu as well as an oxtail pizza on special, and one of us also got the meaty “WTF” burger. After coming out very quickly, each variety of pizza seemed rich, balanced in flavours, and well thought out whether it was more of a classic style or one of Rob, the owner’s creations like the spicy, lightly sweet, and slightly funky (in a good way) “Bill” pizza. The toppings were generous and spread close enough to the edge of the crust so you weren’t left feeling like you were just eating flatbread. The crust was the good kind of crispy and chewy, lightly charred on the outside, and soft on the inside. Our foodie friend who had the “WTF” burger said it was one of the best he’s had, with large quantity of additional meats accompanying the medium rare burger. Rob took time to answer any questions we had and seemed to be passionate about what he does. He also made recommendations for different wineries to check out during the remainder of our stay, and he wasn’t too proud to clean tables and do the duties that the rest of the staff also did. After such a good experience, we ended up coming back to grab food for our last night in town before travelling home!

Wow! This place is great, like really great! Not sure I have had counter service food be so great! The roasted beet salad was delicious and fresh. We also enjoyed the baked beans, unbelievably good like cassoulet not Boston baked sugary ones. And the wood fired pizzas were great! Next time we will go just for the porchetta which looked amazing! Great beer selection as well!

AMAZING pizzas, appetizers, wheelchair accessible bathroom. Indoor outdoor and half n half! Heaters, wine, spritz's. Such a phenomenal eating experience. Pizzas made with double zero ORGANIC pizza dough. Everything was quality. Old movies on the TV, great music and ambiance. A+

Their food and service was amazing! They have really great vegan cheese, so make any pizza the way that you will enjoy!

Do not drive by without stopping in. There is much more on the menu than their terrific pizzas-- seasonal salads, oven roasted veggies and lavender lemonade to name a few of our family's favorites. Weekend BBQ on F, Sa and Su from 12-6 pm features a criminally good BBQ pork sandwich with freshly pickled red onions and cole slaw. The BBQ sauce is not too sweet, with a gentle kick. The brisket and ribs are also tender and flavorful. And there's great music and old movies to boot.

This Pizza is good. Good and expensive. It's a medium size pizza by most standards. Only one size. I like the crust. I like the pizza and I like the ingredients. Good rating for the food overall. What I don't understand is why it's like $30 to get a medium pizza that one guy can eat all of. If you use DoorDash, it's about $40 to get that pizza. Wow have times changed. I remember when Pizza was really an affordable option for most families. Given the basic ingredients in a pizza, I just don't get it. It seems to keep going up and I can't afford this pizza anymore, so I make my pizza at home, for about five dollars apiece. .25 cents for flour\dough, $1 sauce, $2 cheese, $2-3 other ingredients. Large pizzas. $5 not $35. So you pay a hefty markup. I think a fair price for these is actually a lot closer to $20 after tax, not 30 or more. I'm out.

Great little cozy spot. Pizza was one of the best we've had in the county, probably 2nd to Pizza Leah over the last few years. Little gem in Boyes Hot Springs, check it out. Wish it was a closer drive to us in Cotati.

Just an absolute HOME RUN of a restaurant. Food is delightful, staff are super friendly and accommodating, the space itself is so comforting (either indoors or out). Really is a hidden gem and needs to be discovered by more people ASAP.

Mixed experience when I came here with my husband. I was glad he could order a gluten free pizza, and he liked his, but mine didn't turn out great. First, I had really wanted to try one of the specials that was listed on their website, including nectarines on the pizza, but when we arrived, it wasn't on the menu. I asked about it and the employee let me know they weren't offering it anymore. Disappointed, I asked about the lemon dessert that was on their website. They weren't offering that either. Why is their website out of date like that? Super disappointing. But I decided to go with the Prosciutto pizza, no onion. On the website (which no longer lists the nectarine pizza but does still list the lemon ricotta cheesecake), the pizza was listed with tomato, onion and fennel, fontina prosciutto. So when I tried it, I was surprised to discover it was spicy. I'm not tolerant of spicy food, but muddled through it best as I could, wondering what I did wrong. After our meal I went up to the desk and asked what, on my pizza, had been spicy. The employee said, "Oh, that's the chili oil." I was surprised, and pointed out that nowhere on the menu was chili oil listed on that pizza. The reply was, "We always make the Prosciutto pizza with chili oil." Which just baffles me... how would I know which pizzas are safe for me to eat if the main ingredients aren't all listed on the menu? anyway, if it hadn't had the oil on it, it would have been good. I took home the leftovers and used paper towels to soak up as much oil as I could and it was almost edible. I also ordered the mousse dessert and besides taking too long to come to our table, it was delicious. Strangely served in a mason jar with a spoon that just barely reached the bottom, it was rich and well made. That said, I doubt I'll return if I can't trust the menu to help me avoid spicy oils. :(

This restaurant serves incredible food! The chatarelle pizzas and apple pies were both divine. My sister was particularly fond of the barbecue ribs.

I ordered out a prime Rib French dip sandwich which looked delicious on the photo that they displayed. The sandwich was tasty because the beef had a really wonderful fire pit type taste. However, it was not reminiscent of Prime Rib rare which I ordered. And for $22 I had expected a little more on the sandwich either in the way of meat or grilled onions, cheese, etc.. also for the size of the sandwich there was not enough dip to use. I will try them again and select a different item.

Great mushroom pizza, fresh cheese and wood burning oven. Worth driving up for a scrumptious meal.

Wow...just finished eating dinner...the food quality is top notch...sat outside and enjoyed the weather and chill music they were playing...we had two pizzas, Farmers market special (nectarine & Gorgonzola), and a gluten free Bill (tasty). In addition, had the Brussels, and meatballs. Then topped it off with their world class smoked ribs and fries. Super impressed. They also have deals on Mondays and Wednesdays, margherita pizza, salad, and a bottle of highway 12 wine for $45! We will definitely be taking advantage of that! Service was great too match

We have always loved this place back when it was Smokehouse. Although we were sad to see Smokehouse go, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the pizzas are. We haven't gone through the whole menu yet, unfortunately, since we have our favorites. We love the pesto chicken pizza, the prosciutto & roasted pear, and shrimp with pineapple. The crust itself is delicious and has just the right thickness (or thinness). The calamari and brussel sprouts are our favorite appetizers. We recently tried the roasted carrots but I think it has too much cinnamon that you don't taste the carrots at all. The chocolate moose has always been our favorite but the seasonal pies are excellent as well. I think we've had the peach with blueberries last summer. Lastly, we enjoy the ambiance very much. We walk from our house with our shy Husky who is always welcome to sit inside. Our usual spot is the bar-height counter facing the street. I wish I have pictures but who has time to take any when the food is so good!

Decided to give it another try as we had heard the BBQ was returning on weekends. Big mistake, should have stayed home. Tried the mixed BBQ platter, and was sorely disappointed. Most was undercooked, while the brisket looked like burned hashbrowns. Coleslaw was just ok. Thought about complaining again, but after several bouts with the owners unstable personality, we decided against it. This will be our final visit here. With all the other choices in Sonoma, there's just no reason to give this place another chance. Much too expensive here also.

No table service, order at the bar. Solid 9/10 pizza good the next day. Ambiance: ample seating offered outdoors, nice decor. Will come again.

Il Fuoco is the best pizza in Sonoma! The thin crust is perfect, and the ingredients are fresh and delicious. Our favorite pizza is "The Bill" with Calabrian chili, dates, taleggio, and guanciale. Sooooo good, spicy with a bit of sweet. All the salads are great but I particularly like the ceasar salad because they put a little horseradish in the dressing. My husband and I typically eat at the restaurant but it's also great as take-out. Chef Rob, and everyone who works there is wonderful.

I have not eaten inside, the many times I have ordered has been for pick up. That being said, they have the best THIN CRUST pizza in town. Lovely salads and appetizers- this place does not disappoint. Hopefully I will dine in one of these days.

Hands down one of the best pizzas I've ever had! I'm not even sure what we ordered but it was dang good. That wood fire might make all the difference. All ingredients just married nicely on a thin crispy crust. Super delicious and will definitely be back!

Goldilocks would love Il Fuoco pizza because it is the perfect balance between thick crust and ultra thin crusts pizza. I have been several times, both for dine in and take out and have always had a great experience. The ambiance is always fun with good music and interesting old movies on the screens. Recommend!

Best pizza I have ever had! We ordered 2 days in a row the mushroom pizza! The crust and the toppings were amazing! Thank you chef Rob! Next trip to Napa we will be coming back again for more of your creations!

Ordered a fennel sausage pizza - very tasty,but very soggy, the roasted artichoke - was a bit undercooked, but good, a little gem caesar - very good, and rancho gordo beans - not good, just a mushy mess. Also ordered the lemon ricotta cheesecake, which was good, and the chocolate mousse which we did not get. Some hits, but certainly some misses. Overall it was ok, just not great.

Solid wood fired pizza. Great selection of pre-selected toppings or you can make choose your own combination. One pizza is filling for my husband and I. The burger that they offer is delicious too. Plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor. Parking is limited, might need to get creative if the place is busy. Friendly staff and great service.

Brief, focused menu. This is a pizza place with a few other offerings. The Margherita pizza tonight was tasty. The dough is thin. Crispy on the edges, chewy in the middle. Tastes like there is some corn flour mixed in with the wheat. The tomato sauce was mild and fresh. The whole leaves of basil were big and fragrant. Very enjoyable. Truth be told a hungry adult man can eat a whole pizza and not feel stuffed afterwards. Cesar salad was basic and equaled the pizza in high quality and satisfaction. Crispy heart of Romaine lettuce, lightly dressed. Generous pile of freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top. Two small slices of the crunchiest crostini toasts on earth are included. Size just big enough for 2 adults to share. Small list of wines and beers. My lovely spouse, a self admitting wine snob, enjoyed a Zinfandel that she never knew. I had a draft pint of a locally made Kolsch beer that was also quite refreshing. Oh, I must mention that the food was delivered to our table within 4 minutes after we placed the order and paid for it. I was gob smacked by the practically instantaneous presentation. Had the home made apple pie for dessert. Was delicious. There are 5 large tables outside. Propane tower space heaters at every table. Dog friendly. Only 4 stars from me because 3 days ago I ate pizza in Windsor at Pizza Leah. That pizza blew me away with it's near perfection of creativity and deliciousness. I live closer to Sonoma than Windsor so I will eat here more frequently than Pizza Leah. And I won't suffer for it. Come, order, sit, enjoy. Life is good with real high quality pizza.

Came in tonight around 8pm 4/7/24. I've always wanted to try this place, I drive past it constantly and decided tonight was the night. I ordered a pretty big order and tipped well. The puttanesca pizza I bought looked like someone was hungry and decided to eat a slice for themselves. Or it's a chuck e cheese situation where they put together different pieces of pizza to form a whole one. When you go to pay for a pizza you expect to have a whole pizza and not a piece missing. It's strange and off putting. I don't think anyone would willingly buy food with a piece taken off. By the time I got home and noticed it was 8:50 a few minutes before they closed. It really wasn't worth the effort to call and complain about it. I was excited to try this spot, but my experience was definitely a let down. Just a waste of money.

The owner Rob is a terrible person I came in I know him because I wanted some pizza I asked him for extra peppers and cheese after already tipping on a to go order he makes a faces and ignored me again not the first time !!when it was Cochon I told him I bought bread separately at his establishment he told me to tell him who it was so he can fire them what a terrible boss/manager me being a manager of a multi million dollar company all u can do is laugh And tell my employees at least I'm not that guy just had a terrible experience again and I have heard thru town what bad owner If you don't like job quit and sell it this what wrong with our country lazy entitled people like him good luck will never come back all the locals here hate this place I wonder why ??? Pizza is ok but the manager/ owner is a clown

Terrible service. Walked in for a pickup and the man at the counter told us to wait, only for him to silently stare off in the distance. Finally we were helped by someone else, but only to get home and find out that they don't list basic allergens like tree nuts in their menu items. My wife is allergic to walnuts, and had an immediate reaction in the first bite. When I called to confirm that walnut were in fact on the salad the man scoffed and said "well we don't list all of our ingredients on the menu, you need to ask." Will never go here again, and I hope for the sake of future customers they bother to add simple but essential information to their menu in the future.

If you want a decent pizza, it's a good spot. Don't go there if you're looking for even at least decent service, even for takeout. I spent almost $100 on takeout for three pizzas (including tip), and when I walked in, there was no hello, no smile, just a look. And when my order was brought out, not even a look at the handover. Did I even get a "thank you" or a "have a good evening"? Seems like a little too much to ask for... Having spent over 15 years in the industry, I can't fathom treating a guest even remotely that poorly. Very disappointing.

My weekly "go to" for wood fire pizza. I order without the red sauce (allergy)...olive oil is the substitute! They make an awesome flatbread! Love the crust!!!! Love the vibe!!!. Great place to relax!

My feedback for the owner, be respectful , pleasant and polite to your customers. I didn't complain about the wine I asked which one was more Oakey? If you don't have that simply say " oh this is probably the best one for you? Not " We Don't do that" ( snarky). We told one of your servers we wanted to be outside and they told us to move when one became available. It did and so we moved and helped bus the table. You told me "I'm tired of You giving me lip" HONESTLY who says that to a paying customer. I went there once for take out and you were rude. I then decided to give you a second chance because I like the food and brought back 10 local paying customers. Step aside. You staff is great you are not . Apparently I'm not the only one read your reviews !!!!!!!!!!! And BE NICE

Pizza was good, but don't pay the extra $5 for bacon because you'll only get two pieces.

Everybody was friendly. The owner is right up my alley. He was comical and direct . I like that , I'm not looking for fake friendliness I'm looking for good food. My wife and I got the wtf pizza. Half way through we said this is awesome let's try a different pizza to see if they are all this good. Both pizzas were delicious and fast served. They had a beautiful pie on the counter. We ate as much pizza as we could until we were in a happy comma. We decided since we are on vacation and likely won't be in the area again to get pie too. It tasted like grandma made it special for your birthday. I dig the sense of humor the owner had, I appreciate the food and the employees. I wish this place was back home but thankful it's not because I would need a bigger size pants. Good job fire!

When it was Cochon Volant, it was my favorite barbecue place whenever I visited Sonoma. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect when I showed up to find it had become a pizza restaurant, but I love pizza almost as much as I love bbq. In keeping with the restaurant's bbq roots, a specialty pizza called WTF is available (bacon, bbq brisket, bbq pork, sausage). Yeah, I ordered that. Very good! So, anyway, I now have a new favorite pizza place whenever I visit Sonoma.

$4 extra for gluten free (burnt crust) and $8 for a sparkling water (which is $3 across the street). I'm local and they just want your money.

WTF pizza is delicious! Flavor are on point! We loved Cochon Volant so we had to try their new restaurant. We got the pizza to go so the middle was a little soggy but I think if we would have had it there that would not be an issue. Will definetly have to try it at the restaurant. Price is normal for a pizza in the area.

Love this place! Fresh ingredients in the salads with creative combinations. Real Italian pizza oven. Ambiance is quirky with black and white old movies playing in the corners, busy bistro environment.

So good! The prosciutto pizza is the best pizza I've had in Sonoma and one of the best pizzas I've had anywhere in my life. It was delicious and the sauce and crust, the amount of cheese, just everything was perfect. And it was still hot when it was delivered! Their pepperoni is also fantastic. Loved it, thank you for making such delicious pizza!!

I'll preface by saying I'm not a chef, but my uncle owns one of the most popular pizza spots in DC and I've been to Italy... so I'm an amateur, right? Anyway, we Stopped in on a Thursday evening after wine tasting. We started with the Cacio e Pepe Arancini which was very good - crispy outside, gooey inside... tasty. We then began to eat the Mushroom pizza and the Puttanesca pizza, both of which were VERY salty. I assumed the Puttanesca would be because anchovies and capers, but it must be their dough. The generous shavings of Parmesan on the crust were a nice touch but may have exacerbated the saltiness. The Puttanesca was borderline inedible but I was hungry AF. I couldn't eat them for long, let alone often. The dough was chewy/gummy... crust was good and crispy though. Also the cheese OVER the toppings is a choice that I'm not 100% on board with. We took them as leftovers and ate just the Mushroom pie the next day, just to make sure we weren't trippin from the days wine activities... however, still salty the next day. Overall not great, and I would look elsewhere before stopping here again. Though I would try other menu items again. The service was quick and friendly. Pricing was fair. The wine was good.

The WTF pizza is the absolute best!! And the beet salad is wonderful! Someday I'll have to try something else but this is my favorite

It's December and after eating a lot of Soup at home lately, my wife was craving Meat! We hadn't tried the WTF burger yet and it was just the thing she was craving: Ground beef, under bbq brisket, under bbq pork under maple bacon served next to fries. Just the presentation coming out of the kitchen was worth the $20. I had the special pizza: chanterelles and comte. It was $29 but it was blanketed in chanterelles (which aren't cheap), and the comte was complemented with lots of tarragon. I found the service attentive. It's refreshing to find a neighborhood restaurant with the owner on duty. After Cafe Citti closed its doors Locals have been looking for a place that caters to us and I think Il Fuoco is that place. BTW WE went at 5:00 on a Friday and their was plenty of parking. I've never been to Italy so I had to Google Cacio e pepe arancina and Mitto Frito which are Italian specialities. Think we'll be back for those next time. Love the old photos of Italian movie stars, including a very young Sophia Loren, lining the walls.

Being a local of Sonoma County, and living just a few miles from this spot: I can assure you that their food is something to remember. I rely on this spot to impress my visitors and being in the industry myself, Appreciate the detail and execution to not only their pizza but the appetizers. The crust is to die for, the creativity outstanding and they also started to offer live music on some late night weekends. If you're a local or a visitor, I highly recommend checking this place out. You won't regret it!

We love Il Fuoco!!! great pizza and company. the chef made us this amazing pizza with micro corn sprout that I may need every week. we happened to run into some friends from Sonoma that shared some of their wine with us which made our date night even more fun. We're definitely looking forward to coming back for one our date night dinners every time we go to wine country.

Finally tried Il Fuoco today and is was fantastic. Elevated Italian with such attention to quality, texture and flavor. Great portions as well. Will definitely order again soon!

This review is solely on the pie. The spices in the filling were overwhelming; the crust was bland, and the whipped cream was unsweetened. The pie isn't something I would go back for. I have high hopes and am excited to try the pizza based on the great reviews. I will update my review as soon as I get to try their pizza.

OMG! Sorry to be late to this party but Il Fuoco's pizza is amazing!!! First we had the wood-fired artichoke which was perfect, followed by the incredibly flavorful Fennel Sausage Pizza and then we finished with the decadent chocolate chip cookie which is a must have...thank you Rob and Lizzy!!!

The best pizza in Sonoma for sure! Side dishes and salads are tasty too. We love this stop on Highway 12!
