Il Milanese Ristorante

A friend recommended this neighborhood restaurant and it did not disappoint. The service was impeccable. The food was so fresh and amazing. The steak was absolutely perfect. The vibe was real upbeat. The staff brought my wife a birthday dessert on the house. Great affordable place and we will be back sooner than later. Highly recommend a reservation but you can chill at the bar if you have time.

Probably our 4th or 5th time eating here, and we can’t wait to go back. Carbonara— normally this is not what I’d order because it’s usually basic… unless it’s done right. This was done right! Honestly, I didn’t realize it could taste this fabulous. The Costoletta Classica— Breaded Veal Chop, Tomato "Chicche" Basil was outstanding. The Ossobuco with risotto was perfect (again). The mixed seafood dish was delicious. We also had the pappardelle bice, rucola & endive salads— so good. And of course, tiramisu and pistachio gelato and limoncello to end the meal. The Service is always top notch, at all levels & positions, they’re quite a team then seems to work well together to deliver a wonderful experience.

Excellent service and delicious gnocchi and braised short rib. Nice selection of wines and solid cocktails. Portion are sized appropriately. The eggplant appetizer was also tasty.

The great place to dinner! Love the atmosphere and food! We were sitting at the bar, and Erkaiym took care of us. She did amazing drinks for us. The night was great!

Good service, Good food with reasonable price. I dined in during restaurant week. The restaurant is very busy. Luckily, I was able to make reservation and got seat right away after check in. I thought food will be taken a while to wait but not at all. Turn out food is fast and they are tasty. I enjoy every dish. The portion of every dish is big. I had to take some of entree home to be able to eat dessert. I also ordered fugazza in addition. It’s not upset me at all. The bread is soft and of course the taste is good. I definitely go back again! Love it ❤️

Best pappardelle in town! Great pappardelle bace! We loved all our appetizers including fried zucchini flower with stuffed cheese inside, fava beans, and soft focaccia bread! We strongly recommend to try their white wine too! Again the pappardelle noodle were chewy and flavorful and it seems like it is housemade pasta

Me and my family go here all the time and it is very delicious. They have really good specials and the outside area is beautiful. The staff is super kind and helpful. This is definitely a place to go.

5 stars all around at this neighborhood restaurant. The food is ridiculously delicious...every single time! Sit at the bar to meet Rudy, the best bartender in Northcenter. He is lovely, patient and a hard worker. He'll make sure you are taken care of! My husband, who is in the industry, says this restaurant could easily have one star. That's how impressive it is. Come on in; you won't regret it!

ventured a little further north than what I'm used to but so so worth it!! flavors were on point, portions were generous, and the energy in the restaurant was so vibrant risotto was so well cooked (and definitely sufficiently cheesy) would've preferred some pepper to cut through the richness but hey they provided with a good ol' pepper grinder when I asked for it :) loved the octopus! fresh, bouncy, with a little freshness from the pea purée at the bottom pistachio panna cotta was fantastic! extremely creamy and smooth, and just the right level of sweetness. although the sliced strawberries at the side were a nice addition, I personally think a tart strawberry geleé / jam would've worked better! But super satisfied with this and the pistachio gelato we also ordered. the back wall of the restaurant was painted with what I would guess to be the streets of milan. this with the sage green wallpaper and low hanging brass lights created a casual but chic interior of the restaurant

Had been meaning to try this place since last summer and finally came. It's a small cozy place ( but maybe a bit too crowded) ( bit of course we can on a Saturday night) maybe with two less tables the space to move around is better and you don't feel you are literally on top of the neighbors. Drinks were really good and food as well. The reasons to be missing one star for the full 5 are the fact that are waiter seemed to be rushing ( didn't feel like personalized service at all ) and the fact that two of the dishes were REALLY greasy ( like they didn't test it for a bit between coming out of the fruited and plating it to bring over )

Very crowded, a happening joint for a Tuesday. Even with the crowded tables the place felt intimate and the fare was superb. A table of four ate four different pasta dishes, all distinct and all excellent with margins for taste. The fava beans appetizer and fried squid and shrimp were also fresh and light. I do think the beans could have been more plentiful though. The service was attentive, even at it's busiest and I never waited more than needed to get attention to the table. Our server seemed to love his job and that always enhances my dining. Clean and airy with equally appealing al fresco seating available. A summer vacation of a meal.

Il Milanese keeps getting better! Sitting at the bar and hanging out with Rudy is the best! It's so nice to see neighbors stop in and it feels community. The sausage and lentil special is amazing ,happy new year!

My friend and I had such a fantastic time dining here for her birthday. The staff including the owner, Carlo, really went above and beyond to make sure it was a memorable experience -- and it was! It was nice to feel so special! We started with the zucchini focaccia which was delightful. Cheesy and perfect texture - so yummy! We also had the arrabbiata meatballs, which were delicious and not too spicy just had a tiny kick. They were really tasty. We thought the polenta appetizer was just okay. We LOVED the tortellini entree - with pumpkin, fried sage, and a brown butter sauce - but the pasta was a bit undercooked, the edges of the ravioli were pretty hard. We wrapped with pistacchio gelato and limoncello which was, of course, delicious. All in all, a memorable experience and nice meal. We love having this spot in the neighborhood.

Authentic Northern Italian cuisine made with high quality seasonal ingredients I think best describes this joint! Walking in, you have a large bar with leather stools flanked by some tables as well as a nice outdoor patio. The place gets a lot of sunlight and the bar is well stocked with Italian Wines & good spirits they said! The menu is rather large with a half dozen Antipasti offerings, a handful of Focaccia breads & salads as well as pastas and main dishes. They also have *Daily Specials* of about 10 items that focus on fresh seasonal ingredients. Definitely some things on the menu you won't see at most joints such as Fave & Pecorino (Fava beans, Pecorino, Black Truffle Carpaccio) and also an Ossobuco. Started with the Sardenara Focaccia made with tomato, garlic black olives, onions & anchovies.. let me tell ya I thought I was in Rome sitting on a patio celebrating success! For a main I tried the Tonno which was a pan seared pepper crusted Ahi Tuna steak sliced w/ Salmoriglio sauce, arugula and some outstanding grape tomatoes. This was very good and very fresh they said. Finished it off with some Homemade Tiramisu which was good but not the best I've had.. definitely more traditional I think? Service was great and the place gets busy inside & out. Can't wait to go back and try all the things I saw being served at the bar! Talk later

Have been to Milanese a few times and every time it has been amazing. The cocktails are phenomenal, great atmosphere and kind service. Highly recommend an espresso martini !

Ciao! You must try Il Milanese! Having studied abroad in Italy, I have high standards for Italian food. We weren't able to get a table since it was so packed so we sat at the bar. The service was very attentive and super nice we even got some complimentary dessert drinks! We had the tuna tartare to start which was so fresh and tasty. The pastas were also fire - we had the papparadelle bice - delicious with thick noodles and the sauce was so good; and the tagliolini - lemon, pepper and pecorino which sounds so simple but was delicious! Loved my experience here would come back anytime!

I went with a friend of mine who is from Italy, and he almost teared up because this is not your boring American-Italian kitchen, this is the definition of authentic Italian food on your table! Book in advance it is so hard to find a place! The service was excellent! The food was even better...bring your appetite and try the ossobuco.

Cute addition to the neighborhood! Nicely decorated for the holidays but make sure you put in a reservation far in advanced. We had a friend visiting in town and it was the perfect last night meal. The dish that was the star of the show was the tuna tartar, you must try this if dining in. The olive focaccia bread is perfect for any olive lovers. All the pasta was delicious

We had reservations for two, arrived early, and sat at the bar while our table was readied. The bartender was nice, quick and attentive. Our table was ready before we finished our drink. The waiter was nice and attentive, but we had to flag him down for an additional glass of wine. While he had back up staff to clear the table, bring dishes for the next course, etc., we felt he, overall, had too many tables. There were two gentleman who appeared to be co-owners or managers that stopped to chat with tables that appeared to be regulars, however, neither came by our table or many others to welcome us. The appetizer we shared, carpaccio, was excellent. My companion had Veal Scaloppine In an artichoke cause. He was overall, disappointed. The veal was dry and the sauce was bland and contained only two pieces of artichoke. He would not order this again. I ordered risotto with shrimp, calamari, and mushrooms. I enjoyed it and would order again. The flourless cake we shared for desert was dry and a disappointment. I'm not sure it was flourless and if not for the scoop of ice cream, would have been terrible. We would not order again. We will go back to give it another try. It definitely has great potential We will probably sit at the bar for dinner next time.

Great food! The menu is terrific. It was hard to decide what to order, particularly in appetizers. We ended up sharing meatballs and the zucchini focaccia. Entrees were a mix of specials and "standard" items n the menu. Plates were beautiful. Desserts did not disappoint. The service was exemplary. We will definitely go back.

Came for restaurant week and found our new favorite place! Everything we had was outstanding and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend the lamb shank with risotto, seafood pasta and octopus. We came back again and tried the eggplant and crispy polenta, also outstanding. Service is friendly and helpful. We love the feel and energy. It's the most perfect place for a date night or dinner with friends.

What we ordered: Tortelloni, Pappardelle "Bice", and Parmigiano Zucchine Focaccia Tortelloni was sweet, zesty, and slightly savory (after I dumped a lot of cheese over it lol). Super greasy/oily but I didn't mind it. Pappardelle was more savory and will definitely fill you up faster. What I didn't like was when I felt like our waiter judged us for not wanting to get desserts there. Other than that, I thought service was fine. I did learn that the lady who makes the pasta also makes the desserts there. Desserts for next time!

Il Milanese came highly recommended by our friend who was born and raised in Italy so we thought we would give it a try - it did not disappoint! We didn't have a reservation on a Saturday so we were quite worried, however, the bar is first come first serve and we only waited about 10 min for 2 spots to open up. If you prefer a table, we recommended making a reservation online. We loved the bar area and staff. It felt very cozy and staff were very attentive. We started with prosciutto/cheese/bread and a salad. For pastas: the trofie with pesto was delicious and savory. The tagliatelle bolognese was cooked perfectly and had a rich/creamy taste. It reminded us of a dish served at our fave place in Italy! There were so many great pastas to try, and I can't wait to go back for more! They have lots of specials so make sure you check out that side menu. Also, lots of delicious wines at great prices.

We had to wait a bit because the table before us wasn't leaving and even though we weren't mad or complaining they brought us all Prosecco and focaccia on the house! We did restaurant week and it was such great portions for the price, and lots of options. I wouldn't get the trout again but everything was delish! Will definitely be back for the food but more importantly the service.

Headed to Il Milanese recently on a crazy busy unseasonably warm summer-like Friday evening in April in Chicago! Lincoln Square was packed with everyone getting out to enjoy the evening! Il Milanese was no exception! People were lined up around the corner & we were lucky to get seats at the packed bar! Not only were drinks flowing but the food we ordered was unexpectedly excellent! The vodka & grapefruut cocktail called Montenapo was perfect! The carpaccio is a must - wispy thin slices seasoned to perfection! The arugula salad was refreshing! The freshness of the hand made pasta was amazing in the delicious spinach gnocchi in Gorgonzola cream! The fruitti de mare was wonderful as well! All in all, a wonderful experience! There is an outdoor patio in summer as well & Il Milanese has started serving brunches as well! We will definitely be back!

Wonderful experience at Il Milanese! I have it on my list that I need to return simply to try all the other dishes I saw the staff bringing out to other tables that also looked incredible. I went on a Saturday night in May and there was a lovely special on Rosé, so my friend and I each enjoyed a glass there which were great glasses of wine. Our meals were delicious. I had the Milanese and Luganega Risotto, which is a saffron risotto with a tomato ragu sauce (meat sauce). It was so good! Great flavor and taste! My friend and I were discussing how crazy dedicated and efficient the staff were. They were buzzing around at top speed. Great service. We also enjoyed sitting in their outdoor area with very cute lights! Hope to be back soon!

Though this place replaced a restaurant I was fond of, it was a great experience coming here and eating out on the patio. My sister made reservations for the family (pretty early since we have some little ones) but we were greeted warmly and given the option to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. Our server was super nice and patient with us since 1) it was our first visit and 2) it wasn't quite the "dinner rush" so it was pretty easy going. The food was delicious and we were also able to order off the kids menu (buttered noodles is their thing currently). Cocktails and wine were great. Overall a great experience and pleasant dinner option for those that live in the neighborhood (we walked :)).

We live in the neighborhood and had been eyeing this cute little place for a while now. Let's start with the great. We dined in on Valentine's Day and the ambiance was fabulous. Our server and all of the wait staff were attentive. I think this place does seafood dishes very well. Our dishes were perfectly cooked and well balanced in flavor. The zucchini blossoms were also delicious. Other dishes we ordered were much less flavorful or perhaps cooked just a little too long. But the biggest distraction was the tightness of the tables. We felt like we were sharing an unplanned meal with our dining neighbors. It was also very loud. Granted this was a holiday, but it still dampened the experience. If we eat here again, we will carry out.

We arrived a little before our 6:30 reservation on a Saturday night. We were told there would be a short wait. Unfortunately there's not a lot of room for waiting and there were already several people standing next to the tables near the host stand. Fast forward 25 min later and we're finally seated. We are seated right next to the host stand so now all the people waiting for their 7PM reservation are standing on top of us. The manager was kind enough to offer us a round of Prosecco for the wait which we appreciated. It was very loud - like yell at the person next to you loud. We started off with the squash blossoms & meatballs. For entree we had bucatini carbonara and tagliatelle al ragu. Dessert was gelato and the sbricolona alla crema. Everything was delicious. The food is strong enough that I would return- just not on a weekend. Way too loud & not enough space.

Wonderful addition to the neighborhood! The decor and atmosphere is perfect. Bright, welcoming, large windows that open up to the patio out front, and lots of greenery. The staff was also fabulous! We were greeted and seated quickly despite not having a reservation. We started with the Mondeghilli Arrabbiati aka, fried meatballs! Rather than having the breadcrumbs in the meatballs, these seem to be rolled in the breadcrumbs and then fried. They were delicious, and the spicy marinara sauce it was served with was perfect, I wish there was more of it! For my main course, I ordered the Battuta. This pan seared chicken breast was served with herbed butter and garlic spinach. The chicken was extremely thin, but the actual flavor was a little lackluster. I did enjoyed the spinach which added some nice flavor to the meal. My husband ordered a pasta dish which was the right move and what I'll do next time! Overall we had a really nice time and I'm excited to come back and explore more of the menu.

Such a great neighborhood spot! My girlfriend took me here on a surprise date night and it was so lovely. The service was efficient and the waiters were great. The food was AMAZING. I loved the seasonal caprese, and the tagliatelle was to die for. Cannot wait to come back!

It's an exciting day when Lincoln Square gets a new restaurant! With that said, we were excited when we saw Il Milanese opened in the Old L&M Parkside location. The restaurant maintained the gorgeous ambiance, as well as the spacious outdoor area, making it a perfect summertime dinner location. We had the Fotomodella focaccia. The bread itself was perfectly baked and the truffle/prosciutto/cheese combination was simply addictive. For pasta, we opted for the carbonara, which was the special of the day. We also shared a sliced steak. Both tasted really good and were perfectly seasoned. Our one complaint was that when the steak and pasta came out, they were quite cold. It felt like the dishes were sitting in the kitchen for some time before making it to us. The service was good overall, but my husband was facing the kitchen, which proved to give us a strange experience. He witnessed odd behavior from the staff, which weirded him out. One point of advice is that if your kitchen has no door, understand people can see what you're doing. Regardless, that won't stop us from coming back! Hopefully the food won't be cold this time!

This is my new favorite restaurant! Authentic Italian food at a neighborhood restaurant with warm, caring service and charming ambiance. We came on a Saturday night with no reservations and they were able to seat myself, my husband and our 4 year old at the bar. Despite having one of the only children in the restaurant with us, the staff were so friendly and kind. Upon seating, we were served with complimentary glasses of Prosecco and a complimentary sparkling juice for our son. We ordered a few appetizers (meatballs and focaccia were both delicious). We also ordered several pastas and fish, all of which were great. At the end, they also gave our son complimentary ice cream. Such a delightful experience, we can't wait to return.

Il Milanese has quickly become our go-to for Italian food, as well as our favorite place to take visitors to dinner. We have always received such great service from the wonderful staff there. The restaurant itself is adorable and while it is small, I find that to be part of the charm. Just make sure you make a reservation (however we have had fairly good luck getting seats at the bar)! Our all time favorite dish is the ragu, but truthfully we have been impressed by everything we've tried. The cocktails are also excellent!

We had really been looking forward to our first meal at Il Milanese since it recently opened. Having finally eaten there this past weekend, I must say it did not live up to our expectations or the level of quality of so many great Italian restaurants in the area. Let's start with the positive. The outdoor patio is lovely, located on the corner of Lincoln & Montrose with lights strung throughout the terrace, complete with light music playing in the background. The menu is interesting, exciting, and full of options - this is why we were so interested in dining here! Sure, they have some favorites you might find anywhere (focaccia, spaghetti & meatballs, etc), but they have lots of plays on the usual, pork chops, paccheri, maccheroncini, etc. The food itself is above average. Portion sizes are plentiful, and everything is fresh, but most everything is one note, and completely lacking seasoning. The focaccia was baked wonderfully, but it was tasteless until I had to ask for salt and pepper (actually, I had to get it myself, more on that shortly). The fried zucchini blossoms were probably the best thing we had, lightly battered with some nice flavor, the drizzle of honey bringing it all together. The pasta dishes looked unbelievable, but the pasta was slightly overcooked in both dishes, somewhere north of al dente and just south of gummy. Once again, there was a severe lack of flavor here, the sauces one note. Things were elevated slightly once I seasoned the hell out of my pasta, but where is the offer of fresh pepper? Or grated parmesan? Actually, where is my waiter? Sure, it was a busy night, and a full patio of twelve tables. But, with two servers out there, we should see our server more than three times throughout the course of the evening. As previously stated, I wanted to wait to continue eating the focaccia until we got salt and pepper. Well, our server had disappeared for at least five minutes, forcing me to go to the server station and grab it myself. Further, our cocktails arrived during our second appetizer, and our server never checked on us once during the course of the evening. He eventually asked if we wanted dessert, and when we asked for a dessert menu (might be difficult to order without one), he seemed surprised, and took more than five minutes to return with one. It would be another ten minutes before he came back to potentially take our dessert order, at which point we'd had enough. The food is fine, the service, at least on this night, is lackluster. Il Milanese has potential, but lots of room for improvement to merit the price tag. For $150 including tip, we'd have been better off choosing Monteverde or Rose Mary, two far superior restaurants, for our special night out. Otherwise, I think we'll continue to frequent our usual Italian spots for far better service and equal-to-superior quality food for half the price. One additional note: I am all for adding a service charge to help employees. You'll never see me complain about that. As a former industry employee, I'm always going to tip above and beyond. What I am not for is stating on the menu that a 3% fee is going to be added for the "convenience of using a credit card." The convenience of using a credit card?? What is this, 1986?! So unless I happen to be carrying $150 in cash when I decide to pop in for dinner, I am going to be hit with 3%? Lie to me and say it's to help staff, but let's not pretend you're a small coffee shop that is struggling to make ends meet when you are being hit with fees for a coffee.

My wife and I decided to give this place a try on a Saturday night. Did not disappoint. First of all the service was good, but I think a little slow because there weren't enough servers. That was OK because we weren't in any hurry and we were enjoying a few drinks on the patio. We ordered the fried meatballs appetizer. Lovely flavor. I think we'll definitely order that one again. We also had the zucchini flower stuffed with ricotta, Lightly breaded, tempura batter, and topped with a light truffle oil. Terrific dish. I had the Bucatini carbonara $24.00 Bucatini pasta, egg yolk, parmigiano, pecorino, guanciale, black pepper carbonara. Great flavor, but I also wanted a little more! I'd like to see some bread service at this restaurant to sop up the decadent sauces, but it looks like the only thing they had was focaccia. Next time, I'll try that as well! My wife had the Pappardelle "Bice" $22.00 Pappardelle, Tomato Cream Sauce, Melted Mozzarella, Basil. Great dish! Drinks are well done and not as pricy as other places in the area. Great little neighborhood place! Try it out!

We did an online order Saturday nite at 6;30 pm.. Dont do that!!! we ordered veal Limone and got Veal Milanasse (a chessy dish) Next we ordered fried calamari/shrimp. It came bare.. no sauce, no lemon Lastly we ordered Pasta alla carbonara, I think it was made several days ago Totally dry,,, horrible Plus menu is in Italian with no english. I think it could be a good place but communication is lacking

Had a wonderful meal here with another couple. The octopus leg appetizer was a standout. The recommended wine was just right, and all the entrees were top notch. A great place to celebrate any occasion.

Beautiful, intimate setting. Some of the best food I've ever had in Chicago. I can't wait to come back!

This is a great spot with delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. Our server, Jason, helped make our anniversary dinner incredible. It was my husband and I's first time so we found ourselves asking for food and wine recommendations - all of which were answered by Jason in a kind and intelligent way. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back!

I can't recommend this place enough. The food is AMAZING. We are talking authentic Italian food (THE GOOD STUFF!). The staff is so kind, everyone works so hard. Glasses will never be left unfilled. Large portions. Literally cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Mega bonus is the nice big patio outside just in time for summer with lights strung up around it. Good for date night, groups and families even. Be ready to come back over and over again (and be surprised every time). I did a happy dance with every bite :)

Well, the food was good, the noise level on this place is beyond tolerable. It is so noisy that you cannot carry on a conversation with the person at your table. The staff was very attentive. Perhaps I would come back and good weather so I could sit outside where it would be quieter.

I ate here last night with a friend and I say this place is terrific. The staff is all very warm, friendly and efficient. The decor is impressive. Everywhere my eye landed, there was a sleek line, an interesting color or texture and it was really comfortable. Everything about this place said, "We are happy you are here. Stay longer! Have one more!" We sat and ate and caught up leisurely (we got there early, around 6pm) and by the time we left an hour and a half later, it was packed. The fried meatballs are moist and flavorful. I wish there had been more gorgonzola and green apples in the endive salad. We ordered the filet mignon, which was perfectly cooked and hot. It came with truly unforgettable frites, an amazing sauce and very good steamed greens. The pumpkin ravioli was lovely-not too sweet. When I come back again, I'll bring a seafood eater and try their seafood platter, which looked quite appealing.

The only upside was that the hostess was really sweet. Unfortunately my other experiences here were uncomfortable and unwelcoming. The zucchini focaccia was amazing. But not enough for me to go back.

It's the local, can't stop going back place we have been craving. Food is incredible and the staff is so accommodating that they don't bat an eye when we order a massive side of green peas for our toddler. Been twice and will keep going back.

SO GOOD, SO GOOD! I have eagerly anticipated the opening of this restaurant, and it did not disappoint. My husband and I came here on a Saturday night, and we were wise enough to make a reservation, which I highly recommend because the place was hoppin'. We were seated immediately and soon greeted by our server, Miguel, who was super awesome and deserves mad props. (Service was great all night and by everyone we encountered, and service was also super fast all night, although we never felt rushed: so basically, service was perfect. And when does that happen?!) Now let's talk about the food. THE FOOD!!!! Oh yeah, and the drinks. I had a cocktail to start, the Blossom Spritz, which was perfect and light and refreshing and everything I hoped it would be. My husband and I made the mistake of ordering not one but two appetizers, the fried meatballs and the zucchini focaccia bread: both were delicious, but the portion sizes were so generous we were already pretty full by the time our entrees arrived. My husband had one of the specials, a seafood risotto, which was fantastic. I was torn between two pasta entrees and Miguel helped me decide on the tortelloni, which was absolutely incredible: very rich and unlike anything I have ever had before. Amazing flavors! I didn't let myself clean my plate, though, because I wanted leftovers and also to save room for dessert. The pistachio gelato was OUTSTANDING. I must write that again for emphasis. The pistachio gelato was OUTSTANDING!!!! We also tried another dessert, the name of which escapes me, but it was a cake filled with pastry cream and garnished with fruit, and it was fantastic as well. Also of note, the wine list is very thoughtful and robust: we had a bottle of chianti classico with our dinner and it was just divine. The only downside of my whole experience is that I am still so incredibly full from this delicious and decadent meal that I likely will not eat again for three days, ha ha. Seriously, though, Il Milanese is such a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The value was incredible considering the quality and quantity of the food, the exceptional service, and the overall experience. Run, don't walk, to check it out (well, maybe pause to make a reservation first). You will be dazzled; of this I am certain.

We (two couples) ate outdoors on a mild summer night. I had oxtail pasta and found it astoundingly good. All were happy with our entrees. Service was just right. To make sure we'd get in, we went on the early side and made reservations.

Lovely authentic Milanese restaurant. We had a great appetizer with prosciutto and fresh burrata, followed by a risotto ai funghi porcini and pappardelle al brasato. We ended our meal with the most delicate and fresh meringa ai frutti di bosco. Truly delicious, fresh and beautifully made. Will definitely be back.

North center is so lucky to house this gem. Not only is it 5 star-Michelin ready dining. The staff as well brings it forward to 2024. Compliments to the passion, knowledge, and exemplary ingredients that not only go into every delectable dish that plays on one's palate. Foremost to the hosts that bring our guest an evening of true foodie ambience mixed with an authentic neighborhood vibe. Maximo as usual what will you do next? My family's favorite restaurant everyone is always nice happy to see us the best food. The location is great for the locals I wish I could give 10 stars the ambience is always astounding.I love it

We live in the neighborhood and frequent Il Milanese with some regularity. My husband is Italian and we have traveled to Italy multiple times, and I honestly don't think we've found another restaurant in the US that more closely approximates the meals we have had in Italy. The starters are excellent (the truffled fave beans are one of our favorites). The pasta dishes are perfect and creative without being overly futzy. The proteins are consistently prepared perfectly. The focaccia is perfect. The soups are always incredibly flavorful. The specials menu is always changing and has had some of my favorite dishes (the mixed seafood grill and the linguine dish with olives and swordfish are two recent favorites). We're really lucky to have them in the neighborhood.

We were eager to try Il Milanese, especially after Fork's closure -- it's nice to maintain the variety of restaurants in the neighborhood. We were not disappointed on a recent weekend evening... VIBE: The décor is warm and simple, with light walls and dark wood accents. We were seated by a window, so lighting was good; as night fell, though, it became apparent that the room was rather dimly lit. Noise was prominent, but tolerable. SERVICE: Staff were cordial & attentive, especially our server, Miguel. Food delivery and drink check-ins were well-paced. FOOD: We started with a delicious side of garlic spinach (extra garlic). I enjoyed veal scaloppine in artichoke sauce with crispy roast potatues -- tender & flavorful. My wife loved the branzino. For dessert, the Sbriciolona, a shortbread cake filled with pastry creme, was so-so. There was a decent selection of wines by the glass. Given the good food and friendly staff, we'll surely return (and hopefully score a table with decent lighting).
