Cosy, polished basement spot offering elevated Italian cuisine & wine inside the Belgravia hotel.
"We like to smell—and feel—like a walking pepper grinder after eating cacio e pepe. But for some strange reason, not everybody does. If you’re after a cacio e pepe that’s more cacio than pepe, then Il Pampero is the one for you. This stylish, upmarket restaurant inside The Hari hotel has a distinct Sinatra, New York feel and more importantly, the cacio e pepe is served out of a giant wheel of pecorino romano. Just be sure to let them know that you want the full tableside cheese experience. We like to add more pepper to ours and it’ll set you back an eye-watering £21. But hey, welcome to Belgravia baby. "Welcome to Belgravia, baby. The table cloths are white, the prices are high, and the glamour is, well, glamorous. At least that’s what you’ll find at Il Pampero, an Italian bar and restaurant inside The Hari hotel. To get a good idea of the feel and food, we only need to tell you one thing–you can add black or white truffle to any of the pastas. Our go-to here is the cacio e pepe and although it isn’t a total knockout–we like to feel like a walking pepper grinder when we eat cacio e pepe–it’s worth it for the experience of eating it out of a giant wheel of pecorino romano and the rat-pack, high-roller look of the bar. Ask for one of the intimate little window booths if you’re heading here for date night and it’s worth knowing that it’s the perfect setting for a breakfast meeting over some eggs royale too." - Heidi Lauth Beasley
