Il Tiglio

"Clinging to the slopes at the foot of Monte Sibilla, Il Tiglio has returned to its original home after a few years based in Porto Recanati. The new modern, designer-style restaurant includes a few sections of the original building which was destroyed in the 2016 earthquake. Chef Enrico Mazzaroni describes himself as a “mountain chef”, but one with a weakness for fish specialities, so don’t be surprised to find rabbit in tempura, clams with potatoes or pasta, squid cream, pheasant ragù and tobiko on the menu. You can also choose between two tasting menus: “Ritorno”, where the dishes are chosen from the à la carte, and “Transumanza” which features more elaborate and experimental options using local specialities and ingredients such as chitterlings, fish and seafood." - Michelin Inspector

What we liked: All three amuse bouche, with the sparkling wine - amazing! Balanced flavoures and textures. Excellent red wine. Great bread with kefir. Very attentive service. What we didn't like: Most of the flavours of the main courses were just unbearable. Too overpowering, too salty or too bitter. Snail gelato... I don't mind eating 'shocking' ingredients but why not make it taste pleasant? We go to starred restsurant a lot and this was... different than Michelin star restaurants we've been to in other countries.

Eating at "Il Tiglio" just become second best experience we have ever had in any Michelin Star rated restaurant, world wide. For sure ranking at first place in the Italian scene. The atmosphere at the restaurant is curated in each detail but manage to remain relaxed and does not come across as pompous, which, in our case is appreciated. The service is friendly and authentic, fantastic I would say! Last but not least, of course, the food... Chef Mazzaroni manages to bring tradition, elegance and purity all together in each plate. You will experience some mind blowing combinations that will make you smile. Yes, the food is so good that uplift the corner of your mouth while eating it. The foodies reading this will know what I am taking about. This restaurant was not just a restaurant was a reminder of the simple things in life, the purity of remaining true to what is right there for us to see and use. Thank you for having us, for sharing with us this journey and to accompanying us all the way. Fantastic!

I have been here many times. Now they got a Michelin star but the place does not change his original spirit. It is actually improved. You have a sophisticated and familiar environment where the superlative quality of the food makes the time there enjoyable and unforgettable. 60€ for a 7 course tasting menu is more than fair price and it is worth a visit even if it may take 2 hours to get there.

We got there by coincidence… And we have fallen in love with the interior, the welcome we have received and the food. The food is absolutely unique and amazing. We had “just” the bread with kefir and then pasta and gnocchi. Everything with a glass of Prosecco. Enrico is an amazing individual. So Kind and helpful. And so passionate about what he does. It was a pleasure to be hosted by him. Unforgettable experience

Our host recommended a visit to this restaurant so we were quite excited when we finally arrived in Montemonaco after a beautiful trip across the Sibillini mountains. The 7 courses menu was advised and can be enjoined with matching wines (which I would recommend). When the courses started we already got spoiled by original 'amuses' before the actual menu started. The quality of ingredients and originality of dishes is really splendid! The chef is also close to nature and grows own vegetables and animals.

I only write a review for restaurants that are exceptionally wonderful or exceptionally bad. Ristorante Il Tiglio is one of those restaurants that is exceptionally wonderful. Everything is first class. The food, the service and the wine were perfect. We ordered the menu degustazione “Il Ritorno” which is a tasting menu of seven items. The first item consisted of numerous finger food items. There were so many that we lost count, but each one was delicious. Both the food and the presentation were very creative and contained duck, lamb, veal, clams, trout and more. In addition to the food, we chose the wine tasting which matched four ample glasses of wine with the food. I’m surprised I made it back on the winding roads to Amandola. The meal was expensive but worth every centesimo. We will definitely go back.

Simply the best Restaurant of the Region Marche. For people not loving the mountain area, it seems to be far from everything but would be, surely, a wonderful discovery. It needs to get here several time to taste all the fantastic dishes prepared by a chef with a great background. Rich the choices of wines. Be careful to not judge the place from outside, because inside you will be contradicted. Try the trout prepared with seasonal wild and rare spices.
