15 Places To Have A Unique Dining Experience In LA

"Finding enough space in your apartment for your crochet button collection is hard enough, let alone hosting a proper dinner party. That’s what makes Ilé, a Nigerian fine dining pop-up in Hollywood, so impressive—it’s actually held inside the chef’s luxury loft apartment. You’ll make a couple of new friends, eat some delicious and dramatically presented food, and enjoy an intimate experience highlighting West African cuisine. The dinner is BYOB and you can reserve spots for a three or six-course meal, depending on the night of the week. Just be prepared to learn a lot about the chef, who tells personal stories about his upbringing in Lagos between courses. " - nikko duren, brant cox, sylvio martins

LA's 16 Best New Dishes Of 2022

"Jollof Rice When was the last time you ate something worthy of a grand ceremony? Chances are, it’s been a while. Consider this your cue to experience the jollof rice at Ilé, a West African tasting menu pop-up in Hollywood. Served from a big smoking cauldron, the fluffy jollof smells like smoky tomato puree with a pinch of sweetness from the slices of ripe plantain cooked inside. The chef explains the inspiration behind the dish while he doles it out: an attempt to end the (mostly friendly) rivalry between West African countries over who makes the best version. His recipe blends elements of Nigerian, Ghanaian, and Senegalese jollof in one huge pot, to create something wholly original and deeply personal." - nikko duren, garrett snyder, brant cox, sylvio martins, arden shore

Ilé - Review - Hollywood - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Ideally, we’d have tons of friends who host dinner parties with interesting strangers, good wine, and experimental West African dishes. But we’re nowhere near cool enough for that. There is however Ilé, a "communal dining experience" in Hollywood that's hosted in a luxury loft apartment and feels like nothing else in LA at the moment. The concept serves a tasting menu inspired by the chef’s Nigerian upbringing and before each of the nine courses arrives—whether it’s spicy lamb suya, mushroom-heavy fish pepper soup, or jollof rice served from a smoking cauldron—a personal story is shared, accented by a 70s Nigerian funk soundtrack and other festive touches. The room seats 16 people split into two long tables, and it's fully BYOB—though the chef might offer you some complimentary tequila shots throughout the night. Tickets are $250 per person (or four courses for $120), so keep this spot in mind when you want a big, fun night out involving inventive food and sharp storytelling. Book through Ilé’s website. LA Guide LA’s Best New Dishes Of 2022" - Nikko Duren
