That’s what makes Ilé, a Nigerian fine dining pop-up in Hollywood, so impressive—it’s actually held inside the chef’s luxury loft apartment. You’ll make a couple of new friends, eat some delicious and dramatically presented food, and enjoy an intimate experience highlighting West African cuisine. The dinner is BYOB and you can reserve spots for a three or six-course meal, depending on the night of the week. Consider this your cue to experience the jollof rice at Ilé, a West African tasting menu pop-up in Hollywood. Served from a big smoking cauldron, the fluffy jollof smells like smoky tomato puree with a pinch of sweetness from the slices of ripe plantain cooked inside. "Ideally, we’d have tons of friends who host dinner parties with interesting strangers, good wine, and experimental West African dishes. But we’re nowhere near cool enough for that. There is however Ilé, a "communal dining experience" in Hollywood that's hosted in a luxury loft apartment and feels like nothing else in LA at the moment. The concept serves a tasting menu inspired by the chef’s Nigerian upbringing and before each of the nine courses arrives—whether it’s spicy lamb suya, mushroom-heavy fish pepper soup, or jollof rice served from a smoking cauldron—a personal story is shared, accented by a 70s Nigerian funk soundtrack and other festive touches. The room seats 16 people split into two long tables, and it's fully BYOB—though the chef might offer you some complimentary tequila shots throughout the night.
