Stopped here with a friend after landing in chicago. The service and food were amazing. We highly recommend!

They have 1 lb burgers and they are super juicy and very flavorful. Their fries and mozzarella sticks have such a nice golden color and the best Crispy crunch when you bite into them. 10/10 recommend

The place is absolutely amazing. The food is great. The service is good. The ambiance could be a little better, but overall, it's a local neighborhood bar/restaurant that has built a reputation for itself. Highly recommended for food. (DRINKS VARY)

Just like I remembered, haven't been here in a while and wanted a GREAT burger and of course Illinois Bar and Grill didn't disappoint!!! The onion rings are good too. The liquid in the container with the burger is from the pickles, I'm a pickle bandit ☺️

Great burger the fries are plenty and delish. This a dive bar with great food. the serve RC Cola which i wish more places had. The wings are huge. Bartender is very polite and attentive.

Walked in to grab a quick bite to eat. Their burgers are huge and pretty good. The server was friendly and welcoming. Ordered a Bacon burger, shrimp basket, bun-less chicken breast sandwich, and a HUGE fish sandwich.

Loved the overall atmosphere and the friendliness of the staff. Have to come and try their Bacon Burger it is out of this world. Will definitely be back soon.

Came in on a Friday evening and got a bacon burger and a regular burger with 2 beers. The burgers were huge. I ate half and saved the rest for later. Their fries are nice and crispy too.

Darn big burger. It was very tasty. The fries tasted as if they were freshly cut, as described in the menu. Service was very good. Someone came by often to see how my meal was and to check if I needed a refill of my drink. Definitely will be back, again.

I walked in around 4pm on 10/8. After walking in, I had informed the staff that we were going to have a party of 10. Immediately after informing them, they rudely stated that they were not going to serve us because our party was too big. The staff then said that they would make a one time exception but that they were not going to split anyone's tab and we would have to walk to the bar if we wanted any drinks. My friend ran the Chicago marathon so we wanted to celebrate here. Mind you we were going to the back of the back which was completely empty. Seems like these employees just didn't want to work. Would highly discourage anyone from coming here.

I've been wanting to come here for a while now after I've seen how delicious the burgers looked. I finally made my way down here're and they didn't disappoint. The inside has a very old school feel to it with great customer service. There was maybe another table being occupied other than us so it wasn't a busy midweek day for them. I ordered their bacon cheeseburger while my wife ordered the Famous Chicago burger. The burger was very inexpensive at $6.95 while their bacon burger moved up a whopping three dollars. I've never been a fan of e regular bacon on cheese burgers but all the pictures looked so good with bacon so I decided to order it. An additional three dollars for the bacon is a bit much if you ask me and not worth the extra price as the burgers by itself was just fine. I would definitely be returning and would definitely be ordering their famous Chicago burgers without bacon. The burger itself was huge, and charred to perfection. Put some cheese and ketchup on that bad boy and that's all you need! No other gourmet ingredients needed! The fries were also tasty and tasted fresh. None of that frozen cap. This is gem in the south side and is a must try.

My husband and I came here for some drinks and dinner. We've been here before at the early stages of our relationships before Covid hit. He ordered the Chicago burger with cheese, I did the chicken wings with hot sauce, a polish, and we shared a basket of fries. Everything was affordable, it's definitely not your average hole in the wall spot, and I love that they had the olympics on television. They also serve pitchers of beer, our bartender was very attentive, and the chef personally brought us our food.

Omg. My new favorite place! I've been here several times and the waitress / bartender is the sweetest. She makes the best long Islands and has great people skills! Now the food, the burgers are amazing! Onion rings are the bomb! Prices are unbeatable!

The most remarkable thing about the Chicago burger is its size -13 oz. pre-cooked, I am told. Adding bacon, cheese, and various vegetables and condiments make this a mouthful. While not bad, I would have sacrificed quality for quantity. The bacon was a bit undercooked and the burger lacked flavor. Still, I nice neighborhood dive to hang out in and enjoy a beer.

Very good restaurant when you're trying to get something quick in Chicago. I was looking for a nice juicy burger and in that area they didn't disappoint. The fries I didn't care for. But they have affordable drinks and cheap food. The establishment is small but very intimate to the customers.

I've attempted the place twice and so glad I came back! I'm a visual eater and when I crave food I browse my bookmarks and choose from the pics. Which led me back here! Place is def a no thrills local bar with great food. I had the bacon burger & fresh cut fries. The burger is a double and man it's huge! I only ate half. I do think it's a bit pricey. It was $9.70 by itself, but it was worth it I guess. Lol The waitress was very nice. I'm surprised by the reviews of bad service, but I guess places have off days. I'll be back that's for damn sure!!!!

Burger is very good. Enjoyed every bite. Great portion size of the burger. I recommend to stop in a try a burger.

Let me start off by saying I want to like this place. One night after dropping off someone @ MDW I told myself "let's try this place for a bacon cheeseburger and wings". So that is what I ordered. The burger and the wings are HUGE! Both very meaty. Your stomach will be filled with either and they cook it to perfection... ...and that's it. No seasoning, no flavor, no salt, no pepper. Nothing. Therefore, both had no taste. The bacon is the best on the south side. Maybe I should try the BLT next time? Why can't I get fries with anything??? Did you REALLY charge me 25 cents for a "to-go" order??? A roomy, southwest bar in Archer Heights with pool tables and a killer jukebox. The place could use a makeover though. So much so that they still have a pay phone in the place...and it works!!!

Dive bar at its finest... so the look and feel is pure dive! But, the diamond is in the service and the burger. OMG it was good. So, I don't eat meat and ordered the veggie burger! It was incredible. The carnivore friend with me ordered the bacon burger and he looked like he had a woody. Awesome. The onion rings were amazing. Only downside...not a big beer selection....but found a decent IPA. Highly recommend

AMAZING BURGERS!!! Everything is made fresh and they put the thickest slices of bacon you'll ever have on a burger! The People here are friendly and the prices are great! Boy have I been missing out on this hidden gem. Definitely be back for more game nights!

It may be a little hole in the wall local joint, but many times those are the best! This pic is the baby burger, others with me ordered the regular it was crazy big. The thick cut bacon was great as was the toasty bun. The home cut fries were fresh and delicious too. Yum!

I use to eat here when they were on Taylor, first time at this one on 47th. The Illinois Bacon Burger is Big, juicy, Filling, and the best burger to me! The staff is friendly, oh and let me not forget the Onion Rings, just DELICIOUS!!

Oh my gosh! I came here Sunday 3/13 and I am lost of words. I should of taken pictures. But let me tell you, my table was messy as in there was crumbs of someone else's food there, no paper towel on my table and lots of stains of drinks being there prior to me. You would think they use coasters. Second, my friends and I waiting 45 minutes to over an hour for our food. I ordered the BLT sandwich and it was literally just the toasted 2 big pieces of bread bacon, tomato and lettuce on the side. No condiments! Could of at least put mayonnaise. Third, I believe it was the owners son in the kitchen who came up to us stating "they ran out of wings because it is first come first serve and only having one order of wings left" but then the bartender came up to us saying he was lying he just doesn't want to make them. So that took another hour to receive the other half of our food. Fourth, they do not even ID ! How do you know someone is not underage drinking there? I was amazed at how this place is running. And lastly, I guess they let anyone walk out without paying the tab. I hope this place has cameras.

I have had this place on my list to head on down to for some time now, due to its famed Chicago Burger. It's your classic dive bar, with good service, very good prices, and great service. I would for sure come back if it were closer to where I lived, but it's an hour away via public transit for me. $25 for the chicago burger, fries, and 2 premium draft beers and generous tip. The bartender who was work, although busy, was friendly, polite, and very efficient. The burger doesn't come with fries but the basket for $2.95 would have been enough to share. The burger itself was so big, it was at least a half pound raw patty before cooking. It was served with a plastic fork and knife, good thing as I only managed 1 bite, before I went that route.

The wait on the food is always long but so worth it. I'd like to give it five stars but this last time I went the music was so loud it was hard to carry a conversation with my son. Usually the music is fine but being a weekend I guess they turn it up? You can see everyone talking loudly with whoever they were with. Other than that, great food and drinks!

Super burnt burger, we decided to get the bacon burgers and the result was this. idk how's it's possible to over cook a burger that bad.. super dry no taste. I won't be revisiting this place again, everyone's burger at the office was super burnt.

Great neighborhood hole in the wall, I'm still not 100% sold on the saying that they have the "best burgers in Chicago" but they are nice sized and cooked to perfection. Beers are a great price, esp for imports. Nice scene, people minding their business, very laid back atmosphere. Great hangout!!!

This experience was great! Pool table, music of your choice and the biggest best burgers of the south side! You can have a side of fries or enjoy the delicious bacon strips that come on your sandwich! You will enjoy the service, nothing fancy but always good service! My favorite day of the week to go is on Sunday! There has been a gentlemen that steps up the joint just a bit more! Pool table and darts as well! Nice place to enjoy a great meal!

This place has the Biggest Best Burgers on Earth lol And can't beat those Fresh cut fries. Me and my buddies just took our annual burger trip Saturday. Very Satisfied.

This place has great service and awesome food. It can get loud but it is a bar. The burgers are huge, and he prices are great as well. You will not leave without being full and will still have money to spare once you are done paying. Do not expect it to be fancy it is a grill, but it is also a bar. It has a bar feel to it, and is no frills.

As usual my coworkers and I were hungry and looking for food. A coworker mentioned stopping by this place and really enjoying their burgers, so we figured why not try it out. Walking in, we were told we could sit whereever and the server would be with us. The bar was pretty empty (as expected), so we took our time and laughed as episodes of Maury played in the background. Looking over the menu, everything was straight to the point! Most of us ended up getting the signature 13 ounce burger and a few ordered the 1/3. We decided to also split two baskets of fries! After about 15-20 minutes, the food came out and looked absolutely delicious! The burger, fries and green river were the perfect combination! The food : The burger was grilled to perfection! The bacon was thick and crispy and added the perfect flavor Fries were amazingly delicious and they give a LOT! DEFINITELY worth the price The service: The waitress was super attentive and friendly! Refills came without even asking! The menu was really simple so not much explanation easy needed even though she offered Needless to say we all left stuffed, and will definitely be back for more

I've been here multiple times in the past few years. I've enjoyed everything Ive tried here , the majority of the burgers as well as the reuben sandwich. They are all on the larger side, juicy, and tasty. I personally think they have pretty good food for it basically being a bar. Take note though, if you are in a hurry then you probably shouldnt come here. Id say its more for people looking to relax and not too worried about how quickly their food comes out or the server comes around. Its laid back. Its a bar.

The food is delicious; however, the service is not very good (Unless Olga is your bartender). Olga is off on Tuesdays and Wednesday's. Don't go there then. Today, my husband and I went on a Wednesday. The bartender did not check on us very much. We ordered cheese sticks. Did them come? No! Were they on our bill? Yes. Being charged for things you never received. Did we ask for mustard? Yes. Did it ever show? No. Maybe it was a new bartender, but I'll not be going back on the days Olga is not working.

First of all let me start by saying I had high hopes for this place as a lot of people told me great things about the burgers here. So if I could do different ratings for the food and service, this would be different. Food: not bad itself, healthy sized burger for the price and cooked very fresh. Make sure you order your side as the burger means the burger only. There is a wait as they do cook everything fresh to order, you can tell the freshness making it worth the wait. Would be 4/5 stars for food alone. Service: this is where it went down. We sat at the bar, and The bartender that took our order himself was not bad. He was nice and prompt. When one of the guests in our party noticed that they had made the burger with mustard when they had asked without. They really dislike mustard so they asked if they could get another. They mentioned they wouldn't mind waiting another 20 minutes. The cook went ahead and she tried to scrape off the top of the burger to get the mustard off along with the melted cheese, threw on some cold unmelted pieces of cheese and sent that right back out. She checked and saw that it was a poor attempt to try and take it off so she used napkins to try to wipe it all off. At this point her experience wasn't the best and decided that she was done trying to eat this burger and left to instead wait for us in the car. It wasn't until then that the bartender said they could remake the burger if we wanted and that it was his mistake. This is where it turned terrible, you hear the cook in a very loud voice talking crap about how the burger was perfectly fine and asking who was going to eat the original burger. She kept going at it, even though she knew we were no more than 10 feet away from her. The bartender tried to quiet her and asked her to just make it, but she would not back down. Mentioned how she was mad because "she had to wait to cook one more burger before I can clean the grill". This is terrible customer service in my eyes and that is just rude to say things in front of customers. It was my first and last time as long as the current staff is there.

I have been coming here for many years. I don't think I have ever been to Chicago without coming here. It is what you expect every time. The food tastes the same as it did 20 years ago. I hope it never changes.

This place is the definition of dive-bar, thus being my favorite burger joint. The Chicago Burger is thick, juicy, and delicious-- definitely the best burger in Illinois. You MUST have it with bacon and a nice, cold beer. Hands down one of the best burgers I've ever had. This bar is a chill spot to hangout with a couple of friends and have some great food and alcohol. Absolutely recommended to anyone who loves burgers and beer!!

We just carried out because someone recommended their burgers,so that's really the only thing we can comment on. They were okay. Juicy, dripping all over the place. Not necessarily bad, but by the time we got home (10 min) the bun was a disgusting mess. So maybe eating in is a better idea. Ambiance was .. well it was def a bar. We wouldn't necessary want to eat in there, but to those who like to go to a dark bar and have a drink, watch a game this might be the spot for you. If you live around the area or are passing by and dont feel like fast food, this is def worth a try.

We read a National article on the best burger in each state and saw this place was the best in Illinois. They were 100% right. Burger was amazing and delicious. It's also just a neighborhood bar, Josh and Jazmine were great bartenders, VERY friendly. Highly recommend this place and we will be back.

When you want a burger fix this is one of the places to satisfy that ... It's a local bar that has been doing burgers right for a long time. Believe it or not they know how to actually cook a burger to order on the way you like your burgers cooked. The onion rings are fantastic and home made. They have daily beer specials and a family friendly staff. I don't want to forget that you can even bee a nice guy and afford to buy your friends lunch. So be a nice, buy lunch and get one of the better burgers you have had in a long time.

I'll bump my rating up since I've been back 2 more times. The second time I came back with a friend. She ordered a regular burger and I opted for the bacon burger. We also ordered cheese fries. I think the bacon burger is the way to go. She seems to like the cheese fries, I still think they are ok. This time the burgers were bigger and greasier. Service was friendlier also. Just went today again and we split a regular burger and got the cheese fries. I also ordered the zucchini sticks. Burger was good and not as greasy. Zucchini sticks were ok, but use the ranch sauce as the red sauce is some type of Pace Salsa. Service was really good too. Get the bacon burger. The saying is true....bacon makes everything taste better. Since you eating here, I doubt you are counting calories, so why not just indulge and make it worth while. I guess the first time was a fluke as I noticed the last two times, it was a different cook and server than the first time. I have to say, pace yourself, it's a heart attack meal here.

My gf and I came with family Wednesday afternoon to hang out and have some appetizers. Illinois bar and grill has been a burger institution for many years here in the archer heights neighborhood. So that being said if you want to try a BIG delicious 13 oz. burger that u might have trouble finishing in one sitting, this is the place you need to come to. Just ask for the famous Chicago burger. FYI burgers and sandwiches here do not come with fries so that will be extra. Also if you want to add american, cheddar, or swiss cheese to your burger it will be an extra .75 cents, and $2.00 if you want bacon on them. My gf and I shared the chicken strips, which were big but ok to me but she liked them. They do come with fries, bbq sauce and honey mustard sauce. This place does get crowded on game days and on weekend nights as they close late. I do recommend trying one of these BIG delicious burgers for yourself. I ended up buying 2 to go that night for family members to enjoy. They are open M-F 10-2 a.m./ Sat. 10-3 a.m./ Sun. 10-12 a.m.

I had my first date here 4 years ago...the burgers are delicious, hits home every single time. Expect a wait for service, sometimes you have to call for attention twice. But hey I still come back for that burger! Pricing is alright.

A little pricy food wise & all food is cooked to order, so expect a wait, but plenty of drink specials to hold you. Also, it would be nice to have some booths, instead of high chairs & small tables. However, the food is plentiful & worth the wait.

This bar is a classic local joint with great ambiance, amazing bar food and super service. The bartender served our food and she regularly checked our tables. We were very pleased with the flavor, value and price. $4 for a pint of Revolution. The parking is minimal but available. We would be regulars if we lived nearby. $58 for a family of four including two appetizers and two beers!

The burger was outstanding!!! The fresh cut fries are out of this world!!! The wings are whole, not breaded, fried, and hot sauce is on the side. I thought they were great like that. But some might not like them plain.

OMG~my favorite cheeseburger!!!!!! I am in love and can't wait to go back. I almost passed the place up; I'm sure I've driven by it a thousand times and never noticed it was there! I was happy to see they had free parking. The bar inside looks nicer than the outside. lol The waitress was friendly and attentive and the environment was relaxing. Burgers are descent to much oil so greasy but they're good ,I prefer portillo's tho .

Got off a plane at Midway and asked Siri to suggest the best Cheeseburger around. This place came up and it lived up!! Enormous burger and Rueben - I ended up eating 1/2 his burger. It was insanely good. Food really hot, service great and clean!!

Cold cellar in the rear, with pool table and ample seating for many guests, IBG is a Chicago staple and a must whenever visiting the Midway Airport area! Nothing but pleasant spirits and great drinks! This bar gets all the attention it deserves, but I'll boost about it a little more on here! The Chicago Burger is the best burger in, not only Chicago, but in America!

The service has improved tremendously. Being in the neighborhood I gave this place another chance will continue to patronize this place.
