"A small, family-owned Korean restaurant on New Malden High Street, Imone only has a handful of tables but still feels airy and open, with friendly service and home-style cooking. From aesthetically pleasing, perfectly crispy plates of calamari and spring onion pancakes, to excellent kan pung gi chicken in an addictive smoky, spicy sauce, the menu is full of stand-out traditional dishes. Head here for a wholesome lunch or dinner with a small group of friends." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Halal status: Chicken This small family-owned restaurant on New Malden High Street is our favourite Korean spot in London and has plenty of seafood options, like an excellent calamari and spring onion pancake that we could genuinely eat every day. The chicken is halal which means you can load up on the moreish kan pung gi chicken. It comes in a smoky chilli sauce and is one of our favourite dishes here. The menu is lengthy so bring a couple of friends, but make sure to book a table beforehand. " - rianne shlebak
"At Imone, you get an aromatic preview of the excellent Korean dishes before they’re on your table. Like your dog’s ears when it hears you opening the snack cupboard, your nostrils will flair as the smell of saewoo bokkum wafts in from the kitchen and golden, crispy pajeon filled with an aggressive—and entirely necessary—amount of spring onion arrives. Not only does Imone serve the best Korean food in London’s Koreatown a.k.a. New Malden, it serves the best Korean food in the whole city. And it does so in an adorable, homely space with a handful of wooden benches in the main room and a secret space out back for loud dinners. The crockery is mismatched, the servers treat you like a guest in their home, and the pajeon is an absolute must." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"A restaurant that doesn’t market itself as a fried chicken expert (and yet somehow manages to serve some of our favourite in London), Imone is a small Korean spot on New Malden High Street that serves addictive kan pung gi. Apart from the fun-sized fried chicken bites, the incredible smoky, spicy sauce is the reason why we love this dish. Yes, you’ll try to pace yourself. You’ll try to politely pretend you’re OK with your friend taking another piece. But ultimately, this chicken is so good that you’ll be willing to fight for the last piece. "When everything in our lives is going wrong, Imone’s pajeon makes it right. This isn’t just one of our favourite Korean spots, it’s one of our favourite restaurants in London full stop. Aromatic previews of the dishes waft out of the New Malden kitchen before you decide what you’re ordering—which should be the pajeon (obviously) and the fiery kan pung gi (smoky, spicy fried chicken). It’s the kind of place you could bring your boss or your grandma, and both would leave in a better mood than when they walked in, thanks to the bright interiors, friendly staff, and that comforting pajeon." - rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, jake missing, daisy meager
