Imperial Treasure Review - Singapore - The Infatuation

"The Paragon is an upscale mall filled with the type of stores that sell $100 socks, but our favorite way to spend money in the building is at Imperial Treasure. You’ll find some of the best peking duck in the city at this white tablecloth, banquet-style Chinese restaurant. Dinner here feels like an event every night of the week and it’s not uncommon to see a head of state eating next to a family celebrating grandpa visiting from out of town. Whichever side of that spectrum your group falls in, make sure you order the signature duck and Imperial Treasure’s lesser-known (but just as delicious) crispy duck stuffed with glutinous rice ahead of time." - Anthony Eu

I had dinner at Imperial Treasure and overall it was a great experience. The food was delicious, served fresh, and well presented. The ambience was comfortable and suitable for a relaxing meal. Special thanks to Ms.Foong Lee Mei, the manager, for her excellent service. She was attentive, polite, and made sure everything was smooth throughout our dinner. Her professionalism really added to the pleasant dining experience. Will definitely return again!

Came for 2 pax birthday dinner. I've been to imperial multiple times over few years, but the food and service standard here have dropped. we liked the chives appetiser, milky chinese ham soup and egg white conpoy, but overall the food was not worth the price point. After dinner, we felt very thirsty which is an indication of high msg/sodium content. Service can be greatly improved. The lady who was allocated to our table didnt seem happy about doing her job, no smile at all, and the way she spoke felt really reluctant. I was hesitant to ask for extra cutlery or even other things. Though i asked about longevity buns (mum's 70th), there was also no answer to that query. I might not return here again.

Google
A bit mixed feelings about this restaurant. While expecting the dishes to have that signature soy-based, elegantly sweet flavour typical of Shanghai cuisine, the food was too light & almost bland. The drunken chicken was difficult to eat as it still had small bones. However, the service was excellent. Plates were cleared promptly & tea was constantly topped up. The atmosphere was also very comfortable, creating a pleasant environment for the meal.

Google
Shanghai Cuisine. I haven’t eaten before in my life. Omg all the food was amazing and i felt that I tried somewhere but for sure I haven’t tried in my life. Every dish was well balanced and portions were just nice. Service staff were well trained as professionals but very friendly. We were very enjoined food and service and satisfied our moment there.

Google
Since it’s Cantonese cuisine, the dishes tend to be relatively sweet, so make sure to choose wisely! The menu is structured for portions labeled as “for two,” but it might actually feel like it’s meant for three people. The pricing is similar to that of Chinese restaurants with higher standards. This is a branch of a two-star restaurant from mainland China located in Singapore. I’d like to try more of their other dishes!

Great great food. The duck is superb. Nice vibe and services also. Everything just makes me feel at home.

Google
Very Disappointed with the food here. Really not worth the price. I would say that the taste on each dishes are not representing the price that are marked on the menu. First, fish maw chicken soup. It cost $55 per pax…It tasted like water , the fish maw, chicken. The water probably cooked separately with the ingredients … it only put together before serve…it totally didn’t “gel” together (those who likes to drink soup will know what I mean). Second dish, fried eel, semi crispy… not so bad but nothing to praise about. Third dish that ordered came out to be sweet and sour pork ( I tot it was the Shanghai style pork ribs) and we demanded for a change, good that the manager changed for us. He recommended some Belly pork , tasted ok. The portion was very small, maybe just one finger size, and it costed $14 each pax. The service of the manager was good not like the rest of the staff, just kept saying that you ordered that. The Shanghai noodle was so-so but praise to the kitchen staff that cut the shredded pork into such thin pieces, his skill is amazing. Total two pax spent about $230+ on worse than hawker food. Overall, I rather go to Paradise Teochew at level 5 which serve better food.

Google
Shredded chicken tossed in sesame sauce, orchid stem lettuce, and the banana and red bean deep-fried soufflé are absolute must-orders. These dishes alone keep me coming back again and again! The service is impeccable—servers are attentive and ensure that every dish is served with a clean plate. They’re so responsive, which makes the dining experience even more enjoyable. The price-to-taste value here is unbelievable. I’m always torn about what to order because everything on the menu is just that good! I keep telling myself I should try more Chinese restaurants, but I always find myself coming back here. It’s just too good!

Yelp
Honestly two dishes here were some of the best I've had all year! Had low expectations given google rating - we came here for a team dinner.. but WOW. Exceptional black cod - steamed to perfection the texture was unlike anything I've ever had or been able to cook myself. It's the whole fish btw super fair prices given size. The cumin lamb was also exceptional .. and I eat a lot of lamb. Green beans hit the spot - great balance of garlic and not too oily. Potstickers were pretty good. Peking duck was fantastic and perfectly rendered. I got the Braised beef noodle - so good and freshest noodles! Overall super authentic Chinese experience - expect things like bullfrog and pork intestine on the menu too! Service was a little scarce but they was super busy for a Tuesday night to be fair. For 24 people it was about $1500. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This place is top notch! It's got a Michelin star, so the prices are inflated, but the service and the food was great! Dumpling skins are delicate and thin and of course the filling is tasty! The sun was a bit salty but it was so good that I couldn't stop myself! The garlic beef was a little tough but the crispy garlic slices on top kept me coming back for more. But the star of the show were the pan fried noodles! They looked like a giant pancake but on closer inspection, you discover the pancake is made with rice noodles. It was so tasty that I could've ordered two!

Yelp
TL;DR: Generally, don't bother. For the price, there are tastier and more filling options nearby. Visited Imperial Treasure on a Thursday evening, and was drawn in by their weekday meal set ($16), which has different selections of a main dish, dim sum, and dessert. I went with that, ordering the Roasted Duck with Noodles for the main, and Siu mai and Salted Egg Yolk Buns for the dim sum and dessert respectively. The ambience was alright, given its location in a mall, though being seated so near to a walkway of shoppers did dampen the experience. Though I was seated and ordered quickly, they took a while to bring out the dishes. In fact, when my Roasted Duck came to the table, the Duck was barely lukewarm. Alongside the noodles being so saturated with oil that they were borderline dripping, it was not a pleasant eating experience. The sides dissapointed as well, with the Siu Mai being bite-sized and the Salted Egg Yolk Bun leaking its filling before I managed to even get around to eating it. I had ordered water as well, which I found out they charged a dollar for. I left the restaurant still mostly hungry and wishing I had spent my dinner somewhere else. I won't be returning, and if you want some actually good Duck Noodles or Dim Sum, i recommend visiting a local stall instead of this restaurant.

Yelp
One of the best Shanghai cuisine. All the dishes were excellent, service was great, and the ambience was cozy. My favorites were the smoked chicken, Pomfret congee(not in photos), and satay horfun. Did not try the fried egg with oyster omelette as I was going to be traveling. Will certainly come back for the Beijing duck and oyster omelette on my next trip.

Yelp
Dinner at Imperial Treasure Fine Shanghai Service was abominable! Reserved 3 hairy crabs and was at first told all sold out last night despite being informed that I had reserved them. Then was told that I had reserved so they had the 3 crabs. Then was told that there were only 2 crabs. The same waitress asked which type of tea I wanted at 3 different times. I said Pu Er 3 times. She isn't old enough to have such a bad memory and there were hardly any customers at 6.30 p.m. The restaurant was only full after 8 p.m. Another waitress poured tea but it was so light. I asked that the tea be steeped before serving. Turns out they served the wrong type of tea.‍ Then the waitress kept saying that I needed to order more because there's not a lot of food. So I did. Of course there was too much food. I requested for the hairy crabs to be cracked properly. They did but it seems that they don't usually do that. For the price, I would have expected it. 5-Star price but service is not 5-Star. Then we had 4 waiters/waitresses staring at us while we ate. Why? Because they were too darn free. They cleared plates and didn't replace them. They took away the lime dishes for handwash when we still had another dish of lobster. Such poor service. Our economy is not good now. People are losing their jobs, shopping centres are empty, GrabCar Drivers are complaining about super low incentives and few passengers. Yet the standard of service in Singapore is generally poor. Sigh!

Yelp
Love. Love that there are so crazy lines (like paradise dynasty at ion or the ding-tai-fengs), love that the food is awesome, love that the price is reasonable and love that there is amazing service! We have tried so many dishes over multiple visits. Imperial treasure restaurants are great in maintaining consistencies and great food at fair prices. This is definitely one of my favorites in the chain (their super Peking duck at Paragon tops this for me). Soup dumpling (the Xiao long baos) are the best in the city (in my opinion!) beautifully thin translucent skin, wrapped around a sweet rich meaty broth and meat. It's even better than those in the famed Ding-tai-fengs. The other ala carte dishes are mostly great. Noodle dishes are good too, since it's a Shanghainese restaurant after all. And they take reservations! So save your time and come get your soup dumplings here.

Yelp
Fantastic oyster omelette, that is fragrant, perfect tinge of crispy infused with fatty juicy tasty oysters spread across the dish. Probably the best oyster omelette I ever had! The taste across all dishes is generally very refined, even with their soups, for example in a chicken broth that is boiled to its fullness and very tasty whilst maintaining a rather clear clean taste. The sour plum fish came with an abundance of appetising gravy which is a plus for soup lovers. A yummy meal no doubt, though somewhat pricey and be prepared for a queue during peak dinner hours. An enjoyable experience nonetheless!

Yelp
Really nice food, good quality and in a pleasant ambience. Had the Xiao long Bao which were excellent - in my opinion better than Din Tai Fung. Skin was translucent thin and filling / gravy was tastier than DTF. Noodle dishes were good too - no overpowering flavours or greasiness. We had two noodles, a Xiao long Bao and a pot of tea for $33, which was very reasonable I think.

Yelp
we came to Singapore for a stop over on our trip back to the US. It's my boyfriend's favorite place in Singapore. We met up with his old student, and some good friends of his. Good food and great company! What can go wrong? We ordered a LOT of food! Peking duck with pancakes, these are always my favorite dish to order. The skin was crisp and not greasy in the least! And they even wrap the duck and skin and green onions for you. they don't do that in the states! long beans with garlic. always a great dish. hor fun noodle dish, that was quite tasty. We also had a tofu dish and 2-3 others, but everything we ordered was delicious with amazing service! Definitely will be back to this place the next time we are in Singapore.

Yelp
this place does it for us when we want truly good, refined cantonese food - which is all at once classy and nostalgic at the same time. gorgeous space, fantastic food. the restaurant predominantly booths (spacious for four, probably tight for six), dark furnishings and well-placed white light. it's a little more intimate, but still very much in a posh-family sorta' way. when you're in a cantonese/ teochew restaurant, always start with a bowl of soup - it opens the palate in a clear, savoury manner that entices but never overwhelms. and while I don't have a picture for you here, any of their double-boiled clear soups would do you well (I like the melon one). jellyfish is always a must-order, and definitely when the imperial treasure restaurants serve the delectable crunchy head. we tried something new with this braised beancurd and belly pork laid over with mildly-chewy slices of squid (very nostalgically tinted orange on the exterior), and it was pretty darn good. they've got some serious food cred here, with skills to the sky in expertly sauteing meats and seafood (like those shell-on prawns that are well-worth the peeling effort - or just eat them whole, eh?). our utter favorite: the diced beef cubes topped with crispy slivers of garlic. impossibly tender like filet mignon, proper browned outside with a good sear, and sauced with a dark brown savoriness, it's really rather amazing. fried rice comes well-seasoned and expertly fried till moist but loose and tender, strewn between with slivers of egg and sliced asparagus, and those free-form patties were tender with tofu and prawn. I'm trying not to be too bombastic with praise - I rather worried I might have over done it in the last post - but this restaurant truly is a family favorite. we return nearly every month and a half at least (if we make effort to try new things), go through as much of the menu as we possibly can, and always have a great time. props for awesomeness.

Yelp
The food at this restaurant was not bad but my issue is with the manager of this restaurant. I was eating at this restaurant with my friends on a Sunday and when booking our table, we were told that we need to be done by 8pm which was totally understandable. When 8pm came, our waitress kindly told us we need to settle the bill and get going. We gave our credit card to the waitress and happily obliged. After 10 minutes the manager came to our table in a not so polite manner and told us we need to leave as the next group have arrived and need our table. We were upset as we did nothing wrong at this point and are just waiting for the waitress to bring the bill for us to sign. We told the manager that and he left without saying much only to come back to tell me sign a customer copy of the credit card receipt. I gave it back to him and he came back again with the same receipt for me to sign while at the same time signaling we have to go. At that point we got up and just left the restaurant as it was piping less to stay there when we were unwelcome and also nothing to sign. What a horrible experience. Getting chased out of a restaurant and making us feel we were the ones who don't want to leave.

Yelp
Service: Yay and Nay. On one hand, it's good to have the waitresses be on standby at all times to change the plates, take orders etc. But it gets pretty irritating when I'm obviously not done with my food and the waitress comes asking us if she could clear the dish. What really pisses me off is that she's not even making the effort to ask politely. 'You don't want this already right?' with an irritated face instead of 'Do you still want this dish?' Food: Good but not fantastic. Honestly, I don't think it's worth the price. One small plate of seafood crispy noodles cost $20. I have to admit that the scallops (although only 2) taste pretty fresh. But still, I think some tze char stall might have even better offerings at $6-8/ plate. Overall: Won't exactly be going back anytime soon unless I get a treat :P

Yelp
We are big fans of the Imperial Treasure Group, and used to go to its first restaurant - the Teochew outlet at Ngee Ann City - at least once a month until it closed down towards the end of 2016. This is the first time we've been to the Ion Orchard branch. With the move, it has added "Fine" to its name, the menu is now more focused on Teochew dishes (many Cantonese dishes are gone, as well as the "Yin Yang" (tomato and cream sauces) fried rice which one of my sons loved), and prices have moved up. The décor is also more refined, but still very 'Imperial Treasure' in style - ie. elegant and understated, much less screaming than its counterparts at Crystal Jade and Paradise groups. What is somewhat unique is the most attentive and professional service by a loyal, low-turnover staff, who REMEMBER old customers like us by name, but treat all patrons with the same courtesy and efficiency. I believe Michelin inspectors are lousy at rating Asian restaurants (be it Chinese, Indian, or Japanese) anywhere (be it Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Shanghai, or Paris, London), so I don't know if the one star here is well-deserved. There are many Chinese restaurants in Singapore which are as good as this one (in fact, I believe the Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck at Paragon is better), but for an overall dining experience (including service and ambience), this is certainly up there.

Yelp
There are a few Imperial Treasure Restaurants in Ngee Ann City (Imperial Treasure Nan Bei, Imperial Treasure Shanghai Cuisine), so make sure you go to the right one. If you are meting up with a friend, make sure you clarify which restaurant you are going to as they are all located within a stone's throw away of each other. I would recommend making a reservation. The price is a little higher than Crystal Jade's, but the dim sum is excellent. You have to fill out a sheet of paper to indicate which dim sum dishes you want. I would recommend getting the fried carrot cake in XO sauce, which is delicious. You will also be served a strong shot of tea before the meal. I guess it s nice way to wake you up before the meal so you will remember good it was. Service is good. I really enjoyed the quality of the food, I ate the usual har kow, siew mai, chee cheong fun, a bunch of different dumplings. No complaints. In fact, it was so good, I definitely overate but I don't regret it. i will be back.

Yelp
Everything from service to food was great. All workers were attentive and polite. Would definitely come again!
