Käserei

"This restaurant with a modern yet rustic feel and a cosy atmosphere is located in the former cowshed of a typical Engadin house. The restaurant still has a focus on cows and dairy products today, serving dishes such as cheese fondues, raclette, capuns and even Chinese fondue. Cheese-making demonstrations are held regularly in the evenings." - Michelin Inspector

I rarely write reviews, but this hotel is the epitome of warmth, service, and charm and deserves praise. From the minute we walked in the door and Jonas greeted us and checked us in, we felt at home. This is a family run establishment and everyone plays a magic part. One of the brothers does all of the woodworking that makes each room glow with warmth and meticulous attention to detail. He also takes the majestic photographs that hang throughout the hotel. Chef Dario exceeds all expectations with beautifully plated and uniquely delicious offerings in all three of the restaurants. From breakfast to dinner, no special touch is overlooked. We particularly enjoyed our tasting menu at the Restaurant Vivanda. Alex, our server and the sommelier took particular care in explaining each course and the reasons for each of his wine pairings. They were all spot on - and the cheese course where we got to each choose our own cheeses was something I have never experienced. The location is breathtakingly beautiful - rooms look out over nearby mountains and cowbells chime nearby. It should be noted that though our group speaks Chinese, French, Japanese, and a smattering of other languages, none of us speak German or their native Romansh. We were very much the odd ducks at this hotel, but they went out of their way to speak English and assist us in any way necessary. As with everything else, it was all above and beyond! And finally, upon our arrival home, we received a lovely thank you note from the owner Tamara. A thank you note from a hotel - handwritten! That I have never received. I want to thank them for the cherished memories we created while in their care.

Spent four days there, and honestly cannot think of a team I have met that did a better, more friendly, and more thorough job making me fully comfortable throughout. The food is spectacular and so are the rooms - designed to the detail. I miss the scent of the wood that pervades the entire experience. I spent time skiing and backcountry skiing all of which immediately accessible from the hotel. Will repeat, for sure.

Was very good, we came here in winter 2022 and it was very very cold, I would advise bringing thick winter kits if you would like to leave your room and explore the snowy heaven outside, during night time, you could see the entire Milky Way galaxy and andromeda was also visible, very good place for astronomy lovers. It is like a completely different planet during the night time, the staff were very kind people too who welcomed us. ||This place has a beautiful view, the restaurant here had a view of the mountains. It feels amazing being here, a town you should visit when leaving the hotel is Saint Moritz, we went there many times and loved it.

In Lain Hotel Cadonau||This place is nothing short of a little gem in a corner of paradise where everything is done to make your stay unforgettable.||||By way of introduction, we are fine gourmets and have had the opportunity to visit many Michelin-starred establishments in France and abroad. We stayed for several days at the IN LAIN hotel (1 star, 17/20 Gault et Millau) and had the pleasure of a gourmet meal with eight courses. Simply put, it was a memorable experience: the cuisine is original, refined, with meticulous presentation and outstanding service. I must admit that I had to double-check whether the restaurant had only one Michelin star, as it seems it deserves a second star. The chef pays very special attention to his cuisine, and everything is made in-house here: bread, butter, and even several cheeses, a rare feat worth noting. Some dishes will stay engraved in our memory, such as the vegetarian mushroom dish accompanied by an equally vegetarian reduction, a dish bursting with flavors, as well as several perfectly cooked fish dishes with delicate accompaniments. It's worth noting the balance of the dishes (acidity, harmonious balance of salt/sugar, a rich combination of textures and temperatures). The desserts are equally remarkable for their lightness and finesse, without an excess of sugar.||||I recommend it without hesitation, hoping that the renowned Michelin Guide will soon award them a second star.

A few years delayed on this review, but we are planning a trip back -- leading me to make one. We stayed for a few nights in September, and the entire experience was magical. Every meal we had was fantastic. The sauna was stunning. The service was top-notch. The setting is absolute heaven. One of the top hotels we have ever stayed at (on par with the best in Africa) and we cannot wait to be back.

Top notch experience. The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are great. The views from the garden suites brings peace to your heart. Great food, very nice hospitality. If anything, the bar could use a little more hype... But who needs that in the magically beautiful Engadine?

I think I have never been served so greatly anywhere before in my life! We visited for a simple afternoon tea with dessert , but the service ? Amazing ! Such kind waitresses . Simply marvellous ! Along with the emphasis on detail and quality, it has to be the nicest experience so far . I can't wait to visit again soon !

The best of the best, simply put. And very likely to be one of the best hotels in Switzerland! There isn’t anything in this hotel that you cannot enjoy. The food is amazing, the decoration sublime, and the staff simply world-class. Rarely have we seen such a careful and tasty attention to details and a deep investment from the owners.||We got some eggs cooked to perfection by the Chef himself for breakfast. My wife is lactose intolerant and they prepared a special muesli every morning for her. We had a small basket of fruit, homemade chocolate and biscuits in our room every day!||The sauna and spa in the garden are also an amazing experience. Again, this is just the best of the best when it comes to luxury hotels, and exactly the experience you expect from a best-in-class Relais & Châteaux!
