AN ABSOLUTELY MUST DO! 5 STARS! A FREE EVENT & FREE PARKING!
It's Time to jump into The TimeMobile & scour the Earth & take you to places from a different time that you won't believe still exist. We have set the dial to 1948 in the town of Baldwin Park CA. On October 22 1948 @ 4:15 PM on Francisquito & Garvey in Baldwin Park CA. IN-N-OUT was created. It was located in a tiny building that was only 10 foot by 10 foot. On the very first day the newlyweds Harry & Esther Snyder sold a whopping 57 burgers. They took orders in their Drive-Thru restaurant via a 2 way speaker. The original store is unfortunately gone; it's where the current freeway overpass is now. They have erected this replica so people can experience what eating @ an In- N-OUT Burger in the 1940's feels like.
This replica is a FREE MINI MUSEUM with FREE PARKING. No Food is served here but you can bring over your Burgers & Fries from the restaurant & eat on the old fashioned outdoor picnic tables. It's only a 2 minute walk or drive under the bridge. They have some FREE GIFTS here & at the restaurant too for their 75th Anniversary which is in 2023. This replica will be open Thursday-Sunday 11 AM-2 PM. You can come here anytime but when the gates are closed you can't get in, but you can still view it from outside the fence.
When you enter, you'll see the original Huge multi story In-N-OUT Sign that has a clock on top which differs from the current logo sign. It sits next to a set of those famous criss crossed palm trees. The founder was a Huge fan of the 60's comedy film It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World where everyone was on a wild goose chase in California trying to find a treasure buried underneath a Giant Letter W. This is a Hysterical Movie watch it. The owner loved the idea so much, it inspired him to put his own spin on it. He had 2 Palm trees crossed to form the letter X - to mark the spot of his own treasured In-N-OUT restaurant. You'll also see the green grass & white stones along a driveway where you would pull your car up to order. They have a 2 way speaker box & their outdoor Menu items & prices at that time. Imagine Burgers were 25 cents, Cheeseburgers were 30 cents, French Fries were 15 cents & Cold Drinks were 10 cents. There's a Large Free standing sign that reads IN-N-Out HAMBURGERS NO DELAY. There's also a cigarette machine which used to dispense cigarettes that cost 20 cents & 1 penny extra for the matches. Now inside the museum you will see the 8 different sodas that were served in Glass bottles. There's Hires Root Beer, Nesbiitt's Orange, Nehi Cream Soda, Pepsi-Cola, Coca-Cola, Nehi Strawberry, Delaware Punch & 7Up. The Sodas were all 10 cents & if you returned the bottle you got 2 cents back. Yes recycling decades before it became main stream. Later on they added Lemonade, Hot Chocolate & Milk. Coffee was also 10 cents. There's also the stove, the fryer, the refrigerator, the French Fries Dicer, sink etc. Later on they added Lemonade, Hot Chocolate & Milk. It's tiny place inside but pretty cool. Yes this is how it all began folks. They have some FREE GIFTS next to the vintage Coca-Cola machine. There's Stickers, Hats, Candy etc. Take one of each. Outside there's a double sink & wooden soft drink container cases. There's also a gray plaque on a stand with pictures & more info.
Heading Back to the restaurant, when you order your food do it the way they originally did it through the Drive-Thru. They will give you a Free paper placemat that has a picture of the original founders & some info too. Ask for a FREE second one for a Souvenir. Then head on over to The Company Store. They have all kinds of Special Merch for the 75th Anniv. - T Shirts. Hats, Toys etc. They have even reissued Merch from their 60th, 55th Anniv. Make a purchase & they'll put it in a Free 75th Anniv bag. Pick up a copy of their Free brochure. On the back is a FREE Mini IN-N-OUT poster. You can pass by their University where they train employees but you can't go inside. See my review of the Baldwin Park store for more details & more pictures.
