The Best Bars In Los Angeles According to L.A. Bartenders

"In Sheep’s Clothing, which is semi-hidden in the Arts District in Downtown L.A., is Campbell’s suggestion for music lovers and audiophiles like himself." - Dillon Mafit

In Sheep’s Clothing Review - Arts District - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"In Sheep’s Clothing is a hidden bar inside in the Arts District. And by hidden, we don’t mean you need a password or to slide down a dirty laundry shoot to find it. You just need to know where the door is (it’s the first one on your right when you walk inside the pizza place) and you’ll find yourself in a large, wooden record bar that feels like a thermal spa in Tokyo. Most of the house cocktails are made with some sort of Japanese whiskey, and the casual crowd is composed mostly of friends sitting around at tables, talking about culturally important podcasts and how good the music is." - Brant Cox

Yelp
Surprised to see this location doesn't have any reviews yet since it's been open since November 2021! Happy to add it to Yelp and spread the good word about a stellar team doing great things for the music community. I only discovered In Sheep's Clothing in June 2021 when they had a pop-up at Neuehouse in Hollywood for a few months. I later learned it was originally a record bar that had closed during the pandemic and had remained in business through their online store. My experience with everyone on their team was wonderful and I was elated they opened up a physical location again in LA. I also hope they can re-open the record bar someday since I never got to enjoy it. The staff is incredibly knowledgable about music so if you're looking for something in particular or something similar, they can recommend a few great selections. They also hold a bunch of events at this shop where they bring in music guests for performances and feature their latest album release. And they have a monthly record fair at Homage Brewing where you can shop their store and enjoy great food and drinks outdoors. If you can't make it to the store, they also have a record club where someone from the team curates 2-3 albums a month (based on your subscription) that align with your interests and ship them out directly to you. I've been subscribed to it since February 2022 and look forward to the packages every month. ISC has introduced me to so much incredible music since June 2021 and I'm indebted to them for changing my life. If you're in LA or just visiting, it's absolutely worth checking out! In the meantime, you can find them on IG at @ischifirecords for more info
