Since the 1st time my husband took me here to eat I really loved all the food he ordered. I can honestly say it's never gets old to stop by and enjoy some delicious Indian food. Combo #3 and a few more items for 2 people is more then enough. So if u live in the area or happen to be near stop by and show them some support. You won't be disappointed. Today we stopped by after not being here to eat some authentic Indian food. The food tastes the same as the first time when my husband brought me here. Stop by and give them a try.

I love indian food from all regions. There are a lot of good vegetarian choices offered as lunch specials as well as indian sweets here. I always feel like I've made a healthy choice that is tasty when I get to-go from this spot. Service is always fast and friendly. At times there is live music. Eclectic place in the los feliz/atwater village/glendale area. 👌😋

Good place to pick up Indian groceries. This store carry’s most for the dry Indian foods but their fresh grocery is lacking. The folks who run this place are helpful and polite. Parking is a bit of a challenge from time to time but overall it’s a good place to pick up stuff you need. They also have a restaurant that makes Indian Chaat and is priced reasonably. Overall decent place to check out.

Amazing authentic Indian food/drinks. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options that are incredibly tasty. Parking lot on one side and market on the other with the restaurant in the middle. Reasonably affordable meals for budget lovers and students. Definitely recommend this treasure trove 💯

Service is fast, place is always clean. The food is AMAZING. The mango lassi was sweet but not overly so, the curries had a great kick that I think anyone can stomach and the rice was perfect. From the bread toxthe samosas nothing was done less than spectacular. Factor in the price? Man. What an experience. My only complaint is I don't live close to this place!

Swung by today to get my spice on. I like how both market & cafeteria women were friendly. Go here for hot plates: all vegetarian curries, rice, lunch specials. That’s not me. I came for ghee, ground cardamom. There are outside & inside tables to dine in. Go for it. I witnessed a Tinder date happening for their first meet. It’s become a cute place.

This is a great experience both for dining in or shopping for your favorite ingredients from India. It has a great "hot-plate"style restaurant as you enter, and as you pass the table area you enter the actual market. It looks and feels family-owned and they are all very helpful and friendly.

We frequently cone here for our Indian fix. We order the combo #3 which comes with 2 curries of the day served with basmati rice, chapati, veg samosa, pickle, salad, papad, and choice of 1 shake. We also order Naan bread. They have several selections of dishes to choose from. I wish they would bring back the mango pumpkin. The dessert section is also good, they have so many options for sweets. They have a market adjacent to the restaurant which you can get hard to get ingredients, canned foods and more exported from Asia. A great option if your looking for Indian vegetarian options. There is parking in the complex as well as street parking.

Five stars for: 1. You can literally find any Indian ingredient/spice you're looking for at this market. One stop shop. Prices are amazing, too. 2. Staff is friendly and helpful. 3. The restaurant part of the store has a $6.99 combo which is plenty for a very satisfying meal. I went on a Saturday morning and the curries I got were a tofu/potato curry and a cauliflower potato stir fried curry. Both were delicious. Literally an amazing value for what you get! The combo is 2 curries, rice, salad, pickles, and a chapati. Also got pani puri for $4.99 and it truly satisfied my craving. Don't expect anything fancy, but India Sweets & Spices has everything Indian you'll ever want/need.

Okay, I LOVE this place. A friend recommended I stop by for lunch, and I'm so happy I did! Everything is very reasonably priced, delicious, and the portions are more than enough! I ordered the #2 special that included 2 curries, rice (yellow or white), a samosa, pickle, salad, and 2 types of breads. I especially loved the potatoes and eggplant curry I picked, and the sauces they included were delicious. The ambiance is simple, traditional, and very casual. It's definitely not a fancy night out place, but the kind of place you go if you want absolutely delicious and affordable traditional Indian curries. The attached shop was a pleasant surprise! I got so many spices at such a great deal. The shop has everything from incense, spices, trinkets and dishes, to fresh produce and whatnot. I could have spent an hour looking at everything. The staff was really friendly too. I will absolutely add this into my rotation! What a great find. I can't believe I've driven by this place for almost 10 years without stopping in. My loss! Glad to have it now!

India Sweets & Spices is really a special type of Indian grocery store. While you will find typical spices, vegetables and prepared food, there's so much more. Located on Los Feliz, look for the Folk Art depiction of the many-armed goddess, Lady Durga. Inside, as said, you have a grocery store for nearly all your South Asian cooking needs. But then, if you take a right, you find a large cafeteria. Now, at first glance, the cafeteria doesn't look particularly special. This is definitely NOT an Indian restaurant. The tables are very simple and the walls are pretty plain. And there's no waitstaff. The food, however...now that's a different story. For under ten dollars you can get a HUGE tray of Indian vegetarian food. You can get one or two curries, rice, bread (like naan or chapati), sauces, pickle and dessert. And the food is very tasty. I've never been able to finish everything on my tray, even when I was famished. I suggest checking out both the store and the cafeteria during the same visit as its fun to check out the ingredients, but also the housewares, religious paraphernalia, henna and beauty supplies used by the local South Asian community. Definitely recommend.

I felt like a vegetarian meal, so I ended up at India Sweets & Spices: it's half grocery market and food stall cafe (cafeteria like). The pre-made food is mainly ALL VEGETARIAN/VEGAN items. Lots to choose from; a combo meal is a good option to start with or ask for recommendations. The menu is broken down by Northern/Southern Indian regional specialties: offered as Combos, Snacks, and Desserts/Drinks. You order at the counter then find a seat. No frills type place. Friendly environment. There's parking on the premises; however, it's a little tight during peak lunch/dinner rush. You can park on the side streets. Credit Cards are accepted.

Jan 2023: On the way to a holiday event, with tickets in hand, my friend & I were craving Indian food. I discovered India Sweets & Spices nearby via Yelp! Yay! I love Indian food! Veggie Meal/$7.99: 2 curries, basmati rice, samosas, pickle, chapati, salad...oh my! The eggplant curry was my absolute favorite & full of flavor! I found everything to be quite tasty, as well as colorful...& quite filling! Nice size portions as well! We also ordered the incredibly sweet Jalebi as a snack to go! Cup of Hot Chai Tea: Hit the spot, loved it & the perfect drink for a cold night! Vibe: Very busy! The woman scooping up the dishes smiled often as I selected curries & she answered questions easily. Plenty of seating inside, as most tables were full. I would love to return and check out their grocery store section. I've also been to the location in Culver City, where I tried the Jalebi for the very first time! Overall: If I'm in the area again, and craving Indian food, I will gladly stop by again to eat!

I've been going to this place since it was a billiards hall in the 90s. It's an ok location on Los feliz and can be convenient when you're driving through. But the restaurant feels like more of a market than a restaurant. When I went vegan I started com here again for the food. The food is good, not great. It's a bit oily and sometimes too spicy. They don't seems to have a grip on how to be consistent with the spice. The service has always been a bit bland. They seem to not care if you don't understand them. But I've always been ok with it, until today. Today, the lady behind the counter was so rude. She just had no manners and treated everyone like trash. We asked her which dishes were mild because my daughter can't handle spice. She said "they're all mild" . But when we got home they were all spicy. I'm getting tired of dealing with these people. How hard is it to get normal people to work there? Maybe the quality of the food is what makes them so mean. Anyway, bye bye, rude people.

I had come here once before after having lunch with my friend at the Morrison. I came here accidentally this second time around, because my GPS said this was the "International Market" and navigated me here. I was looking for some Japanese items but was surprised to find Indian delights. I got some frozen samosas, some masala marinade and a few other things. Overall a cool spot, not exactly what I was originally looking for but was happy with my friend.

First time trying them out! They had a stand at the Lotus Festival in Echo Park, and it was so good. The Chana Puri caught our eye because of how unique the inflated airy dough balls were. They were super light and was the perfect vesicle to eat with the chickpeas. The samosas were also packed with flavor. The reddish sauce was a sweeter sauce and the green was moderately spicy. We liked the green one the best. After trying them out, we definitely want to check out their actual standing restaurant.

The two stars are for the food and products in the store, which are great! The updated review taking it down to two instead of my original five is due to the rude customer service I experienced today. Another review said the same thing. My friend and I spent around 16$ on food and pastries. When my friend saw that they now accept EBT, he went to pay for a meal to go with his EBT card. When the lady in her 30's with the reddish hair and noise ring rang him up, she gave an unnecessary dour attitude and seemed like it was such a nuisance that we returned to spend more money at the establishment. She then told my friend very condescendingly that EBT couldn't be used for every meal purchase. Umm... Payment is a payment! Then why place the sign saying that you accept that form of payment if you are going to have an attitude when someone pays that way? Especially after we paid for the previous meal and pastries with our debit cards. It was quite uncalled for. She then gave him his food with no thank you or smile. I haven't experienced any attitude problems at this business in my 12 years of eating and shopping here. So, it was surprising. The owner has always seemed like a nice fellow. One can hope that some of the employees can improve their demeanours for their patrons for this otherwise great restaurant and store.

If you want quick lunch or bite this great restaurant . I had tried plain Paratha carry out . Excellent!. Garden Dhosa I expected uncooked Salad type of inside filling. But it was cooked spicy filling, So I will not recommend Fresh vegetable in grocery side was excellent for sure You can any Indian grocery item in large quantity. It came to my mind smaller grocery stores May be using surrounding ! Owner/ manager was on check out , wonderful person and efficient.

I asked for papadam, they gave me a pre-fab processed something warmed in the microwave. the masala dosa was tepid, not hot, and the garlic and onion were still raw, like finding pebbles in my dosa. and the lady who preps and hands you your food was more surly and unpleasant than usual. Terribly disappointed.

Shut the front door! I can't believe how IS&S carries the gamut of Indian products from masala curry to teas to Indian snacks to incense to organic spices to mala beads. It's an emporium of everything Indian, South Asian, Indian. Dam! AS I learn more about Indian cultural and healing practices for the being and spirit, IS&S provides me the tangible product I'm reading about. Every time I discover an interesting spice or product I am piqued to the nth. AND there is a togo prepared vegan food stall that is heavenly if you're into it. I eat everything lol, so this food option affirms In my psyche, that civilizations have existed without having to eat meat three times a day. Don't get me wrong, I am not vegan but I love this food option and have it often. The two display cases of Indian desserts are excellent. Wish they added more cardamom in their gulab jamun but I'll live. Will post more photos next. End of Yelp.

Not many food options and bad costumer services they should hire professionals the reason I'm giving 2 start because not expensive

A great market/restaurant - the restaurant serves vegetarian/vegan Indian food. They have a wide range of goods from medicinal herbs (neem, moringa), spices, groceries and household goods. The spices are sold in batches but without packaging and are much fresher and cheaper than the grocery store

Nothing sweet about the customer service, lol rude, attitude for nooo reason ‍. However, a good inexpensive spot for quick Indian vegetarian food. Pretty sure they don't pass the cleanliness or disinfectant test...I notice how enthusiastic the cashier cleaned the tables and floors, totally gross...

When they first opened, the food was really good for an incredible price. They used to have this fantastic mango pumpkin curry. I've never had anything like it, and still haven't. They stopped offering it at some time pre-pandemic. Maybe it will come back. The Rava Masala Dosa has also been very good. The quality of the food has steadily declined over the last 10+ years since we first started eating here. It is still fast and cheap. And the workers there are still usually very distant, cold and suspicious. But all things considered, not bad for vegan or vegetarian Indian for the price. And the grocery store has all kinds of interesting Indian products. Worth trying. 3.5 stars.

Happy place, even some impromptu Bollywood bands showing up during dinner. I like the South Indian a la carte menu ;)

LOVE this spot!!! So many vegan options and the price is incredible. Try to beat it, I dare you. You can go and sit inside and watch Bollywood films while you eat. The neighboring store has all of the traditional stuff I never knew existed in one place. Super sweet little set up. Check it out! You won't be disappointed.

They have this place in multiple locations but both restaurants/shops are run by hard working friendly people. Love their selection of buffet items (it's spicy and delicious). Try it all!!!

To the people complaining of customer service, I suggest you watch the soup restaurant episode of Seinfeld. The good folks here at India Sweet & Spices make good food, they're not there to chit chat.

The ladies behind the food counter are the most unfriendly ones I have ever encountered. The girl at the counter seemed super pissed we went to order for the second time to take out sweets. Food quality is horrible. For context we ordered a couple of sweets, samosa and puris and it was obvious the oil was stale and reused, I guess that explains the low pricing somehow. I'm not sure of the store part of it but the restaurant is a BIG NO GO. Extra negative points for the rude service.

Food quality below par, the oil used was stale oil. And the same oil was used in sweets as well as chaats(specifically PURIS), which probably explains the low prices. The service is also bad

I am a devoted customer of this India grocery store and eatery for over several years now. I am so grateful for all of their kind hospitality and customer service every time I go, always greeting me when I walk in and being very helpful when I have a question about a product available. I have been going there for all my shopping essential bulk items, like organic spices & seasoning, organic mung beans, organic ghee, organic teas and coffee, soups, chutneys, fresh produce... I love the Moringa toothpaste and Chandrika soaps. I go to stock up on fresh bundles of sage, camphor, Laxmi Dhoop, also, they have a huge variety of incense & incense holders that I use daily in my household. I've gotten several beautiful large tapestries. Just last night I bought all of the cow dung in stock, 52 pieces to be exact, to use in my sacred fire ceremony during sunrise and sunset, purifying the atmosphere, this is called Agnihotra. Also, setting an intentional prayer for my friends here at India Sweets & Spices! But, WAIT... there's more! I just shared with you my experience with the grocery part of it... I do love the eatery, too!! I have dined in, done take out, and ordered delivery on Door Dash! They do have the best authentic chai tea! My go-to favorite thing to order is the samosas!! I absolutely love the taste of the samosas and their crispy texture, with the sweet sauce and green spice sauce on the side. I'll also order the Wada sambar!!! What!!! It's so spicy and the soup is perfect to dip my Wada in, topping it with their homemade tomato chutney!!! YUM!!! I love it so much... we ordered that last night as well. Thank you for everything! This is a great place, they are here to serve the community! One day I was in the area, walking after so long, and I smelled a heavenly smell: incense. I go inside and feel peace. So many nice incense options at the best prices possible! Also other nice offerings, so many, from malas to clothing, to snacks, prepared foods, kitchen items, varieties of spices, and so much more! Today, I went in again because I was so thirsty, after a long walk on the hottest November day I've ever experienced...I was very grateful for the fun selection of beverages, and very positive and professional customer service of Kumar, the manager. If you are reading this, Mr. Kumar, you do have a great store indeed, excited for the opportunity to return and do more business!

So I've been coming here for years and am now just getting around to writing a review. Their Indian food is phenomenal, and CHEAP!!! Like seriously inexpensive. It's a literal gift to the world. That is really all that needs to be said.

The rubber idlis, ice dosas and dull sambar..absolutely threw my money away. The vadas clearly fried in the morning and re fried in the afternoon. I got one A.M vada and one P.M vada. I know this because I wanted to see for myself during my bachelor days if I could recycle vadas fr previous days. So I recognise the look and taste. WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS PLACE?? Tables were filthy and no floor staff. I got paper towels from bathroom dipped it hot water and cleaned the tables and chairs so my kids can have a good experience. Our dining experience felt like I was eating in their pantry. Good Lord guys ..WAKE UP...RESTORE BACK TO ORIGINAL QUALITY AND EXPERIENCES

This is the closest Indian store to me, so I come here periodically for staple items. Ghee, both branded and homemade. Good selection of rice, with both Indian and Pakistani brands. Spices are what you'd expect: cheaply packaged, but compared to American grocery products, both cheaper and sometimes noticeably better in quality. The refrigerated selection is fairly limited, but they have packaged paneer and some other items you may want. Plenty of other household goods and sundries too. So far, I've been satisfied. Service is what you'd expect. I believe it's a family-owned store, and some of the people working the store are older aunties. Some are friendly. Some have a more flat style of interaction. I can't really speak to the food quality on the restaurant side, as I've never tried the food here.

I love coming here. Great market products and their restaurant is great. The owner is always nice and he's helpful. Sometimes the women serving the restaurant food can be short, but overall I always have a good experience.

Visited this restaurant after a very long time. The restaurant now has a big supermarket inside with an excellent selection of organic Indian foods and spices. Looks like this place is under a new management now and the food section also has a nice decor. I ordered samosas which were made fresh with an excellent taste and the dosa dish & mango lassi never disappoints. Greatly recommend this place for grocery shipping and authentic Indian food.

Been coming here for years. Food is great value and tasty but they do expect you to know what you're ordering and aren't the most helpful, but how much do you expect for less than a standard fast food meal? Grocery is also my go to for spices and other Indian ingredients, selection is very good, prices are reasonable and service is efficient. If you want to be coddled and guided this might not be the place for you, if you know what you want and know about Indian food then this place is great.

This cafe cum store has its own small parking lot, metered street parking is available as well. We have been coming to this store for a while as this is the nearest Indian store around us. We only purchase or eat here if we have to, in emergency. The store is looked after by a nice Indian family, but the employees they have are OMG. Please do check the expiration date of your purchase. They have a wide variety of Indian products from lentils to snacks, from butter to frozen paranthas. Whenever we use to come here to get anything, we used to always order their samosas. But since some time their samosas are turning out to be bad, as in the potato stuffing inside is spoilt, slimy I mean they are not fresh and cause its spoilt the smell is soo bad yuck. They provide chutneys along with the samosas, but the ladies working their just wont give them according to the number of samosa plates ordered and if you ask them to give more, they start making annoying faces. They have combo meals with different curries everyday, we personally do not like them as the curries as very salty. Only on weekends they serve Halwa (Indian sweet dish made of Semolina). Thats really yummy.

This is an amazing Atwater gem. They have so many unique items and the folks who work there are so kind. When we went and told them what we needed for a dish the owner us some from his local garden, free of charge. Very authentic and affordable prepared food as well. Love this place!!!

The food here relies more on making the food hot rather than actual taste. The customer service, especially from the ladies at their restaurant/deli counter is god awful. They are generally rude especially the middle aged lady. Today I saw them not just be rude but cruel. A homeless man who was very polite and not disturbing anyone came in and asked if he could purchase food. He was willing to pay for it but they basically shooed him away as if her were a stray animal. It was appalling behavior.

I love coming to India Sweets and Spices. Everyone here is so helpful and they're one of the only business on LOS Feliz to have a private parking in the back which makes life so much easier since this street tends to be very busy during the day. What I love most about this store is the fact that yes it is heavily Indian inspired and they have 90% all Indian items but they also have other brands that you'd see at a local grocery market as well. So they cater to all needs. They also have a section of their store that is essentially a restaurant. They sell household Indian foods and they have lots of vegan options. Their restaurant is always full of customers devouring delicious authentic Indian food. I am obsessed with their samosas and their mango drinks. They're so good and very authentic.

The food was as good as any other Indian fast food. The lady that helped us was especially sweet. Showing care for our dietary needs. We are vegan with a no garlic no onion preference. They had options for us which is hard to find.

ordered: aloo parantha & chai tea didn't care for the chai tea. my mom & sister (who i was with on todays visit) have come multiple times before and ordered the tea. they claimed to have enjoyed it so much they stopped by 3 times in a row specifically for it. so i decided to try it today but left unsatisfied. both said it was not the same today (all three of us unable to finish our drinks) so i may possibly try it again another time. the aloo parantha on the other hand was incredible. it was warm and prepared fresh. they accompanied it with a side of yogurt that i believe is called raita. i wasn't much of a fan of the yogurt but ate the aloo parantha until i couldn't stomach anymore due to fullness. my mom and sister did however enjoy the yogurt so it likely depends on preferences of taste. ambiance: i don't judge the shape of restaurants or joints as long as the food management is to par and tastes equally as good. i grew up going to hole in the walls and find comfort in them. i hope to return back in the future to sample other menu items including the lassi selection and for the aloo parantha.

Parking lot for easy parking. Super quiet, meaning no other customers when we stopped in prolly due to covid. We were in the neighborhood and I had a craving for ladoos. Didn't try the hot food items or groceries but it looked well stocked. Similar to other India Sweets locations I've popped in. Lady who served us was nice, a little bit of language barrier.

The quality of food has gone down hill, along with the freezer section, and variety of vegetables.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways... Fresh samosas and take out food (I miss dining in and trying the different Dosas). There is also a potato stuffed chili pepper that is battered and fried that comes with a spicy dipping sauce that could kill any bug in your body. It's so good that I eat it in the car, once I've certainly ascertained there is water in the car to squelch the burn! Warning, I did spill a bit of sauce on the middle console of my car, and it still smells delightfully delicious. I also love the imported cotton tunics that are my wardrobe staple. The incense I could buy in bulk. The gold standard is the Nag Champa, but I also buy the Rose, California White Sage, and Palo Santo to mix it up. The varieties will make you swoon. Speaking of swooning, there are many areas to do so which I frequent.... The selection of rices, the fresh produce and turmeric root, the spice aisle, the British digestive biscuits, teas, essential oils, etc.... you must explore for yourself! Make sure to put enough quarters in the meter if you park on the street, otherwise there are quite a few parking spots in the lot.

This review has been long dew As you enter the place firts you can smell the aroma in the air which will make you carve for the delicious and mouth watering food they cook every day fresh. One of my favorite vegan and Veggi place to eat. Friendly people the owner Mr. Kumar saab. Is the most friendly and alway making sure the customer is taken care of . The owner and the staff are just amazing there they go over and beyond to help customers . Tue food is always fresh and mouth watering. The in house sweets all the Indian desserts are always fresh and yum.Never had a bad experience . Always been happy either we take it to go or eat there . Just by writing this review and all the yum stuff i am craving they food as we speak . As you walk into the other section of a huge place with all the Indian , Pakistani , Bangladesh grocery under one roof . You need any thing for cooking spice , snacks , sweets , incense,. This place has it all . Alway in stock oh I forget they also have a huge produce section fresh indian produce . This pace is a super market for Indian food , grocery , desserts,spices ,frozen ice cream and indian yogurt . I can go on and on . If you are in and around this area this place is a must visit

I would rate 5 star for the food but negative star for the customer service. Lady who took our order was super rude with no customer skill or service. She is working for longtime now and every time she has same attitude like she do not care at all. Great & good luck to the hard working owner to have such a staff member who would send customer away with her attitude.

Pav bhaji Sundays. If you don't know what it is, find out! Definitely the best dish here and only available Sunday. We came back from a hike with the dog, they have 4 tables outside and so we were able to chill and eat for awhile. Indian tea is consistently good here too but beware, they are not ashamed to sell you old and expired food so shop carefully. We've had bad milk here so if something tastes funny, it's probably not good. The other food is ok at best. Parking is super limited but usually at least 1 spot available. Can't deny that the prices are super cheap. Definitely better Indian spots in LA tho. Hit me up if you want to know.

This is the real deal. Perfect place to hit on a budget. Food is always fresh and tasty the Chenna Marsala is to die for - also the Indian tea is also very yummy. As added bonus they have a international supermarket for those hard to find items. A must stop especially if you are from out of town.

Love this place! Good section of british teas and cookies and candy bars. I also l like to get their spices and I've gotten good tips on food from them. Really good service and the people that work there are really kind. I haven't had a meal there, but I will soon enough.

One star because I didn't get sick. Very underwhelming food that wasn't even warm. Staff are genuinely unfriendly to anyone that isn't indian. The lady taking my order wasn't particularly intelligent. That's fine but perhaps don't be rude on top of that.

She understood (no/allergy to dairy, which one is best). One section is for vegan, and the other side has dairy and is vegetarian = No meat. - Attached with a grocery supply store in case you want to roam off that full belly after. There isn't much Indian food in the Central/East side area. You really can't be prices -- I don't know of any Indian fast food around the area. Beats driving down to Artesia for Little India/legit good food. This place is near Costco!!! For anyone hungry before or after their grocery/shopping trip there.
