"Indie Superette opens tomorrow, January 30, introducing a shiny new health food market and cafe to Cow Hollow, in the same building as a Rumble boxing studio and Shake Shack. It’s a Michael Mina project — the latest in his empire of nearly 40 restaurants, from Hawaii to Vegas. Group president Patric Yumul has a daughter named Indie, and this is the second concept dedicated to her: Indie Girl wellness bar was so successful in Honolulu, they’re now following up with Indie Superette in San Francisco. True to form, Mina is a savvy businessman: The Mina Test Kitchen was just down the street before it paused in 2017, so he’s already tried out various menus in this neighborhood. Indie Superette promises pretty, colorful, and healthy fare, ready to grab and go for yoga-clad residents on the run. The menu, which you can see in full below, leans health conscious and millennial pink. Indie Superette is offering smoothies, bowls, toasts, sandwiches, and soft serve, which come with adaptogenic add-ons and build-your-own toppings. There are a few Hawaiian flavors, which come through with lots of tropical fruit, such as pineapple and coconut, as well as poke bowls. But don’t expect tuna — there’s no meat on this menu whatsoever, and the kitchen is moving toward becoming vegan. Chef Harrison Chernick developed the dishes, and recommends the tofu poke bowl with brown rice, quinoa, avocado, cucumber, and “dynamite” sauce. The “Notorious IVB Burger” is a beet burger stacked with curried mushrooms, avocado, and sprouts. And though its health benefits might be more questionable, the coconut soft serve looks creamy and delicious, in a trio of coconut, almond, and matcha flavors. The location was formerly the Real Food Co. health food store at the corner of Filbert and Fillmore. So in addition to the menu, Indie Superette does plan to be a market. It’s set up with aisles of dry goods, such as chips and granolas, and cold cases for drinks, including bottled juices and kombucha. A couple of cases out front are filled with fresh produce. It’s an interesting reimagining of what a neighborhood corner store now looks like in San Francisco, similar to Douglas in Noe Valley, which supplies parents in the neighborhood with wine and cheese. In contrast, Cow Hollow residents clearly demand smoothies and salads. Indie Superette shares the building with Rumble boxing, the boutique fitness chain that charges upwards of $30 per class, and is facing off with Shake Shack, the New York smashburger sensation that got some unexpected resistance from this neighborhood." - Becky Duffett

"The San Francisco Business Times reports that Michael Mina’s long-anticipated Indie Superette is gearing up to open in the Fillmore and Filbert Streets spot most recently occupied by the Real Food Co. grocery store. It’ll occupy 700 of the space’s 11,700 square feet, sharing room with an as-yet-unopened Shake Shack (3,650 square feet) and Rumble Fitness (6,583 square feet). According to the building owner, “a small bodega like Indie would only be feasible at below-market rents, and would effectively be subsidized by rents paid by Shake Shack and Rumble.” A spokesperson for Shake Shack declined to discuss conditions of the lease with Eater SF, but it’s worth noting that with an empire of 40 or so restaurants across the globe, Mina’s hardly a struggling small business that needs help to survive." - Eve Batey

"Even though Michael Mina’s 7,000-square-foot Trailblazer Tavern just opened, he’s already onto his next project: Indie Superette, a market carrying specialty goods and grab-and-go salads, acai bowls, and smoothies at 3060 Fillmore Street in Cow Hollow." - Janelle Bitker

GREAT food options for vegan/vegetarian customers. We were only in town for a few days and made a point to go back because we loved it so much. Service was so friendly and quick. The Peanut butter toast with blueberries was DELICIOUS, the avocado toast also blew our minds, and each of the smoothie bowls were irresistible. GREAT spot.

A perfect spot for delicious, nourishing eats and drinks! From overflowing acai bowls and smoothies to warm, avocado toast and grain bowls, Indie Superette has it all. Whether you're looking for a steaming cup of artisanal coffee or quick and healthy snack to power you through your day, this is the place to go. We loved the acai bowls and the countless additions we made (spirulina, cordyceps, maca powder, mct oil). Caring and thoughtful service as well. Will definitely be coming back here for more!

The BEST Acaí Bowls in California!!! Get them with nuts vs. granola...even better! The peanut 🥜butter, almond and 🥑 avocado toasts are all to die for! No one can do them better! The vegan 🍔 burgers are equally exceptional. Quick, casual, counter service that is hands above the highest ranking restaurants! 🏆🏆🏆 Due to the quality of their ingredients, the taste of their food and friendliness of their staff.

Located inside Shake Shack; has a surprisingly large assortment of beverages, meals, and desserts – from grain bowls to soft serve to a variety of coffees. Also has a small selection of groceries.

I really wanted to like this spot based on the healthy options however waiting over 20 min for avocado toast is a bit much. Good for coffee or a smoothie but don’t waist your time getting anything beyond that!!!

Very nice use of the space of the food hall/restaurant foot print. Excellent chia pudding.

I’ve ordered the açaí bowl on DoorDash many many times and it’s excellent every time. I appreciate that they put it in a larger container so you can mix it up and not spill. They are more generous with toppings than other places, which makes for a great ratio of açaí to topping. Highly recommend!

This has been a go-to for veggie burgers for a couple years now but my last visit was terrible! First, I asked to add a slice of cheese on my burger. This is not an unreasonable request. Somehow it took three different people hemming and hawing to make it happen. After confirming twice that yes, vegan cheese is exactly what I expected. Fine. Maybe the cashier is new. Not the end of the world. I get said burger and not only is it not warm, it is so salty as to be inedible. I think it was the mushrooms on top that were the source, but the whole thing was mouth-hurtingly salty. I took two bites and had to toss the rest, and ended up with the side salad as my lunch. I am so sad! The IBV burger was my replacement for the [sadly defunct] Hotel Utah veggie burger. Please, please fix this! I expect better from the Mina group and I'll give it another chance.
