Indigo - Review - Marina - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"Indigo is a Marina cocktail bar and restaurant that’s open until 11pm most nights (and midnight on weekends). The menu includes a range of American dishes like a wagyu smashburger, polenta and mushrooms, and a pink peppercorn caesar. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Julia Chen

Google
Was going to a show at Palace of Fine Arts and decided to give this restaurant a try beforehand. Soo glad we did. It was new years eve and the place was very festively decorated. Our server Izzy was top notch, and just added to the overall great experience. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection. The smash burger was recommended, so will definitely need to come back to try that. They had champagne specials for the occasion, which we took advantage of. The cherry on the top was one of the owners coming out to greet us and thank us for checking out their fairly new business. Highly recommend and will definitely be back! Even on a busy night like new years eve the service was still great.

Google
Sad to say this was a mediocre meal (probably great drinks!). We tried several of their seasonal menu dishes - I loved was the stracciatella and the affogato, however the trout was dry, the polenta was bland and solidified in seconds, steak was burnt on the outside. That said, the service was fantastic and the owners seem to really care... I'd like to believe we caught them on a bad night (and didn't drink, which seems to make a difference).

Google
Owners truly care about making every piece of the menu the best! Super fun drink menu and a great smash burger and fries. Perfect place if you want to have a dressy dinner without boring dishes

Google
You rarely find one restaurant that lives up to their 5 stars reviews. Indigo deserved it. The restaurant was located in a nicer part of the City, no homeless people or dirty streets. It offered a simple menu and food was served with delicious flavors. Service was attentive. Overall, it was a great experience, and it didn’t break our wallet.

Google
Love the outdoor patio! The owners and waiters were so friendly and fantastic. Very attentive staff and great food. Happy hour is the move!

Google
The place is great, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent! We ordered the wings and they were spectacular; the hummus is also delicious, and the pita bread is homemade! The apple cheesecake is delicious and the cocktails are fantastic, definitely a place we would come back to!

Google
I visited Indigo today for lunch, and proved yet again to be an enjoyable experience. It was my second visit and is quickly becoming my go to spot. The staff has consistently impressed me with their attentiveness, warmth, and professionalism, always ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. During this visit, I had the opportunity to speak with the owner, Kash, who was great and engaging. He shared the background of the establishment, explaining how much detail and fine tuning goes into each dish, even with their fries (which are perfect and crispy). It was insightful to learn about his vision, particularly given that it is a relatively new addition to the Marina District. I opted for the Kash Smash Burger, aptly named in his honor. The American Wagyu patty is expertly prepared, undoubtedly among the finest smash burgers available in San Francisco. As a local to the Marina, I would highly recommend stopping by if you find yourself in the area. The ambiance is relaxed yet refined, the cuisine is exceptional, and with an owner like Kash who demonstrates genuine dedication, it is clear why the restaurant has gained such popularity. I look forward to returning soon.

Google
We visited Indigo last Friday and received a great service from Kash and Susie, the food (late night dinner menu) was delicious, but the cocktails were amazing!!! Looking forward to go back and try their dinner menu. 100% recommend to try the wings and the tequila lime sauce 💚.

Yelp
A husband and wife team took over Boho in the Marina about 10 months ago. The owner she is running the restaurant as our host and waitress and her husband is the chef. He definitely made a mean burger, she said his pride and joy and it sure showed in each juicy delicious bites. They have brunch menu for Sat and Sun. Extensive cocktails menu for sure. The egg white omelet with mushrooms was also delightful. Very cute and cozy restaurant, can not beat the service and food so it's a win win to eat and chill.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place but not too sure if I'd come back. There was a wait time even though we had a reservation on a Saturday. The ambiance is really nice inside and at the bar. The menu is quite small and there's not many vegetarian options. All the food is also very pricey. I got what the servers recommended. The cuisine is all over the place and all the options seem kinda random. I was expecting to try the gobi Manchurian as seen on the online menu but it wasn't available. I got the salad item to start and it was okay. It had cottage cheese, squash, apple slices etc. I also got the cheese board, fries, spiced rice, and creamy spinach. The consistency of the spinach was too watery in my opinion. The cheese board had various cheeses and it came with naan as the bread which didn't go well with the cheeses and honey. Both drinks I tried were not very good either and had odd flavors. The smoking s'mores dessert was cool but I didn't love the mousse part of it. The service was okay but a bit disorganized.

Yelp
Came in black friday, and was greeted by a calm space with cheery staff. We were given a table, and the host immediately changed their thoughts and gave us an even more illuminated table which we appreciated. We weren't even giving a stink or anything the host was just so kind and moved us. We felt like royalty dining in their home. Suzy kindly greeted us and took our order; they did have happy hour deals going on but she didn't push the drinks on us which again, we appreciated. We did the wings and a side of fries. I kid you not, these were the best fries you can find in the Marina. Perfectly crispy and thin. I will absolutely be back for wing Wednesday for dollar wings (my boyfriend is obsessed with the wings here.) Also seeing a review that the trout al pastor is a must so I will try next time I'm in.

Yelp
We booked a table at indigo for the NYE celebration. The service was amazing - our super active and messy toddler was treated so warm and with understanding! Appeared that it's a relatively new family business and the owners put all their heart in making this place a local gem. The food was not bad, especially the burger. But the polenta was too liquid and the portion was small. We really liked the NY decorations and overall ambience of the place. We might come again to try other menu options.

Yelp
Super cute place in a great location near bars and shops. Metered street parking but there is free street parking just 2 blocks away. Very kid friendly (small space though so may not be stroller friendly but could park it up front) and thoughtful details throughout. Bathroom had changing table for babies, hooks for purses/coats, and a table for larger items. Utensils have a bend in them so they don't touch the table, thus reducing spread of germs/food. Just really nice details. Great happy hour (Tues - Friday 5-6:30 pm) that includes food and drink. Our food was so great - the chicken wings, burger and the trout al pastor - and drinks yummy. Just a delightful experience, I wish I lived closer to be able to keep going back and trying out more on their menu! Friendly and thorough service - the owners are very hands on and have done great work for this restaurant.

Yelp
Restaurant looks very cool. The workers all seem very nice. However, I ordered my Smashburger to go when I got there. It wasn't ready yet. I knew immediately they were gonna rush it and I asked the guy to make sure it was cooked well done. He proceeded to tell me that it was a Smashburger and of course it would be cooked all the way through when I got home with my burger. It was rare. Super frustrating. What's more frustrating they did not have the ability on their website to specify well done. So, wasted meal for me. I'm sure it was good. If you like rare meat, I'm giving four stars since lots of the other parts of the restaurant looked nice and again their people were nice. Except for the male greeter who thought he knew better than to double check with the Chef for me.

Yelp
Came here for their burger and other delicious menu items. Did not disappoint! The owners are very personable and friendly.

Yelp
We walked in for dinner on a Saturday and it was packed. Our wait for a table of 2 was only a few minutes. Make reservations if possible! Parking around the area sucks so park in a lot if possible. The food was delicious and the cocktails sounded unique too. We didn't try any since we came from a bar prior, but they looked amazing when I seen other patrons order them. The steak, fish, and fries were all good! Just not a big fan of the tortilla the fish was on, but the toppings were good. The owner was so kind. He made sure to check up on all the guest and tell us about the story behind the restaurant.
google avatar

Francisco I.

Yelp
The hosts are amazing, making sure that we were comfortable and sharing the story behind this delicious restaurant. The service and the attention we got is of a first class restaurant. The Trout al Pastor is delicious, I must have. Also the Stracciatella, spicy and sweet at the same time.

Yelp
Amazing new restaurant! Their smashburgers and fries are to die for and they have wonderful mocktails and wines. The owners and staff could not be nicer...don't wait GO! Love the ambiance and I think you will too...fun for a romantic dinner and time with friends.

Yelp
Stopped here for HH recently on a thursday afternoon. We started with 2 margaritas and shared some wings and fries. It was pretty quiet at first but it got progressively busier and louder as it got later and closer to dinner time. HH prices are really good! The margs were good, appreciated that they were not sweet and tasted like they use real lime juice. Refreshing and a nice start Tequila lime wings were a little bland but they brought 2 delicious home made sauces that saved them. 1 was a mango habanero and the other was a berry habanero. Both were delicious and had a nice kick to add to the wings. Their fries were awesome. Great texture, flavor and were served hot. The owner came by and introduced himself and made sure we enjoyed everything. He also mentioned that everything is homemade and made to order with fresh ingredients which definitely came across in the food and drinks. To finish I had their espresso martini which is made with a Bob's donut soaked rum. Really tasty, fun and a unique take on it! Will definitely be back for HH and to try more items. A nice addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
Really cool new spot in the marina for food and drinks! Ordered the strachiatella for starter and the polenta and mushrooms as the main. Strachiatella is the filling of burrata, and so it's creamy and gooey texture tasted great with the olive oil and fig balsamic. I liked the polenta and mushrooms as well, in particular the chanterelles. Even if you don't have food, the drinks here are a standout. One of the coolest drinks on their menu is their version of an espresso martini - they soak donuts from Bob's donuts in their rum so it absorbs some of the chocolatey donut flavor and it really comes through in the drink which is a nice twist on the usual espresso martini. The night of the Yokai is a nice fruity drink with a fun presentation. The popping boba added a nice texture to the drink and went great with the overall fruity flavor without being excessively sweet.

Yelp
Wow so good! We had a great experience and got to chatting with one of the owners, so lovely and we learned this is a relatively new venture so i am thrilled to leave such a glowing review: The drinks- my margarita was perfect (and I'm picky) it tasted exactly as I would have made it at home myself, not overly sweet or artificial. Strong! My partner got the seasonal pumpkin drink that was DELICIOUS and again, deceptively strong so be warned that if you're a lightweight like me you might not get to try more than 1 drink in 1 visit. The food- delicious! After our excellent cocktails I got a little worried that the food would be underwhelming and I was so wrong. My favorite was the oyster sashimi creation, who knew that oysters would be even better with little bits of sashimi thrown in? Not me but now I'm obsessed. The berry spinach salad also rocked, nothing that creative but it was well executed and we basically licked the bowl. The steak had an excellent rub on it, though I was starting to slow down at this point. Comes with homemade chimichurri which I don't personally care for but my partner enjoyed. The corn though. The corn was sort of like deconstructed elote and it was SO GOOD I did eat more than my half share. Partner fortunately liked the fries better so we made a trade. Inside is an upscale modern ambiance. We came early and didn't need a reservation but as we left around 6:30 it was filling up, even on a weeknight. We will definitely be back, the owner said the menu will have some seasonal variation and I must have the oysters and corn again.

Yelp
New spot. Super cute vibes esp their back pario area. Super friendly owner and staff - they went above and beyond to make us feel warm in their patio. Amazing cocktails representing different countries! And bob's donut (espresso martini but could literally taste a hint of donut) was interesting. We liked their shrimp tacos and burgers! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Had the tastiest dinner here tonight! We ordered the burger, steak, chicken wings, a seasonal salad, s'mores, and cocktails--and everything was delicious. Our waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable, with great recommendations. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
My friends and I came here for a TGIF dinner and had a very mixed dining experience. We shared the ocean's bounty, chicken wings, arugula and pear salad, Kashmiri chicken skewers, steelhead trout al pastor, chocolate cheesecake and the gelato. The ocean's bounty was oysters with too much stuff (hamachi, ahi tuna, spicy tuna, uni sauce and spring onion) on top. It's really hard to taste all of the flavors and it ended up being a relatively incoherent taste. The chicken wings and Kashmiri chicken skewers were bland and definitely needed more seasoning. The arugula and pear salad was good and the steelhead trout al pastor was excellent. Both desserts (cheesecake and gelato) were also really good. Service was OK at first but got slow as the evening went on. The restaurant is really loud and it's hard to keep a conversation going. The price is good - this was around $65 per person.

Yelp
I came here for dinner with friends and this is a new neighborhood gem. The Santa Muerte cocktail with jalapeño-infused mezcal had a real kick and unique flavor profile. I got the Trout al pastor on a squid ink tortilla - the fish was cooked perfectly and the pineapple salsa gave it a nice contrast. My friend ordered the Smashburger which she thought was excellent and we shared a small chocolate cheesecake at the end - probably worth ordering one for each person if you're still hungry after main dishes. All of their cocktails are inspired by different regions of the world and the menu is an eclectic mix of new American, Italian, and Mexican inspired dishes. The owners greeted us and were quite friendly; the waitstaff was knowledgeable and charming. I liked the smaller, intimate interior. We called in advance for a party of 6 and I highly recommend a reservation for larger groups given the layout. Would definitely come back for drinks or dinner.

Christine M.

Yelp
Such a great new spot! The food was incredible (especially the fried chicken sandwich, highly recommend!) and the staff is so sweet and attentive. We will definitely be back! :)

Jayne M.

Yelp
Amazing! Great owner, great staff, and every better waiters!! Couldn't say enough good things about this place!

Maribeth G.

Yelp
We had a great brunch - the brunch burrito was very tasty - the favorite was a medicinal & extremely yummy drink with bourbon with warming spices & lemon - so good especially since I had a cold! Kash the owner was so welcoming & informative - a great restaurant in my hood w/ a terrific owner!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're a big dude and like a really comfortable chair, this is a great place to go. Chimichurri steak was fantastic, highly recommended. Isabelle provided great service and in general, the staff was really professional. I'll definitely be going back
google avatar

Yelp
The delicious food and friendly atmosphere made for a wonderful evening! We'll definitely return the next time we're in SF!

Yelp
Very cool and trendy new neighborhood spot. Service here was great, the staff being very friendly and attentive. We tried some drinks from their cocktail menu, and I would say they are good if you like creative drinks on the sweet and sour side. My boyfriend loved the smashburger, and I enjoyed the polenta and mushrooms, but not enough for me to re-visit specifically for- my one thought is that the menu is limited on the vegetarian options. But overall we had a nice time!

Sadie R.

Yelp
This was my second time at Indigo - this place is genuinely amazing! The food is super good (I recommend the smash burger and the oysters) and the drinks are seriously so awesome. I love this place and will continue to come back! Our waitress was the sweetest person ever and the owner is very involved. Will be back!
google avatar

Heidi P.

Yelp
We love this place! The owners were both there and the food was delicious and amazing. A foodie spot! Complex cocktails, yum! Passion fruit Martini, Oysters, tequila lime wings, Smashburger, Cherry bomb NA cocktail. So much made in-house. Absolutely delicious! We will be back!
google avatar

Victoria T.

Yelp
This place literally opened 5 months ago and it was packed because of word of mouth. All the tables were reserved, but my party got lucky with the owner holding the last open table for us. Everything tasted so good. The steelhead trout was my favorite. The place is dimly lit, but it had a nice vibe

Yelp
Across the board, Indigo delivered on a welcoming ambiance, exquisite cocktails, bold flavors, and exceptional service! We noticed Indigo from afar walking through the Marina, and were immediately attracted to the vibe. Located centrally in the Marina, Indigo is a breath of fresh air compared to the usual Marina joint. It reminds of a cozy London restaurant with dark tones, but just enough lighting to not be overwhelming. The cocktail menu has perhaps some of the broadest array of flavors, international influence, and composition you'll find without the associated stuffy drinking experience. We really appreciated the mini-game with the owner (who provided a personal touch with all service!!) guessing the country of influence for the cocktails we ordered (Japan, Portugal, Netherland, and Mexico)! The menu is broad, marrying the California local and seasonal mentality with an expansive menu choice of flavors and dishes similar to the cocktail list. We had flavors and dishes drawing on Coastal California, Classic American, and Mexican cuisine. Elevated trout al pastor and the wagyu smash-burgers are must haves! All topped off by exceptional service from everyone that night, great conversation with Kash the owner, and true care and attention from the whole staff. Slightly pricey, but can't wait to visit again to keep working through the menu, as they plan to change it seasonally, and we know the team will keep coming up with great new ideas!

Yelp
First.. the waitress was just perfect, sweet & knowledgeable. Second OH MY GOD THAT BURGER!!!. It was gone before a photo could be taken of it. I in no way can explain through a review the amazingness that was THAT BURGER. All the food was super yummy, we had a breakfast burrito, Crouque Madam, banana Carmel pancakes and THAT BURGER. Everyone had to taste the burger!!! But every dish was just perfect. The MOCKTAIL selection!!!!!! YAYAYAYAYAY!! Even the loveliness of the owner stopping by the table to check on us, really friendly guy!! I will be back here many times!!!! Ambiance was really comfortable and casual. I fear that reservations are gonna get hard to come by in the not so distant future.

Yelp
We loved our meal! The stratciatella (spelling 80% accurate) was the star of the show. Soft mozzarella with delicious toppings and garlic basted pita bread. So fresh and unlike anything I've had anywhere else. The staff was kind and knowledgeable. It's a newer restaurant in town so if you want this great food to stick around...then get in there! You won't regret it!

Anne P.

Yelp
This amazing gem was recommended and did not disappoint. Friendly host who spent time describing menu items. Our appetizers were unique, delicious and beautifully presented. We ordered the Polenta and mushrooms, the steak and the seafood medley for our mains and enjoyed immensely . Dessert was over the top!! Thank you for a beautiful evening. Wall decor in back room made for interesting conversation!

Rowan C.

Yelp
Went for a dinner party with my friends and had the best experience! The menu had so many options, the cocktails were DEVINE, food was delicious and our waitress was amazing. The owner even came up to our table to welcome us and talk about the food. Will definitely be returning and would recommend to anyone in the city! :)

Yelp
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Indigo this week. I'm having a hard time deciding if it was the service, the food or the ambience that was the best part. The owner of the restaurant even spent a few minutes with us and spoke about how important it was to use organic quality ingredients in his dishes. I would love to see a wine label or two added to there by the glass drink menu. The good news is, they have a nice by the bottle list. I highly recommend Indigo for any occasion!

Emelie L.

Yelp
I had the most amazing cocktail here. I have traveled the world and love a craft cocktail. If you love to try new things and aren't afraid of flavor you have to check this place out. I'm excited to try the food!! Vibes are great and the bar tender who created the menu is a genius.

Ann F.

Yelp
Excellent food service cocktails! Love the ambiance!!!!!!!! Stays open late. Perfect if you just attended a show at the palace of fine arts or strolling through the marina!!!!!!! I had the marina mix and alpaca punch! Delish! My husband had the smash burger and malachico bourbon cocktail! I would return here!

Yelp
Awesome happy hour and delicious food. Love the courtyard in the back and the friendly service. The fries and wings are both delicious and the cocktails are excellent. Definitely check it out if you're in the Marina.

Linda R.

Yelp
We enjoyed dinner last Wednesday evening at indigo. Both Kash and Suzy were most accommodating and you could tell how much passion they had for not only the restaurant food the customers came first! The trout Al Pastor was a favorite! I was able to adjust mine to accommodate an allergy that I have and it was beyond creatively presented and flavorful. We enjoyed two salads; the Orchard Mix and the Pink Peppercorn Caesar both were tossed to perfection and crisp. The Pommes Frites came out hot and crunchy and they tasted incredible! I especially liked the mix of people of all ages. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. We were treated by a kind, hospitable wait staff and proprietors. I imagine coming to Indigo with a group of friends. The back patio or the small space before the patio would be a fantastic space for celebratory events. We will be back!

Yelp
The Pornstar Martini was delicious I drink two of does! Smash burger was amazing!!! Definitely coming back

Yelp
Indigo is a great new restaurant we found via Yelp after we cheered on a friend in the presidio half marathon! It's new and not on the map yet so it was completely empty! It had also just opened for the day. The service qas excellent our server was super nice and really knew the menu and had a lot of great recs. We all love our Bennies so three of us got the smoked salmon Benny which was amazing. It had spinach AND avocado and just the right ratio of hollandaise to the rest of the Benny. It also came with a side of arugula salad. I literally cleaned the plate, there was no crumb left. They also have two house made hot sauces one mango habenero which was hot hot hot but had a nice sweet taste. The other hot sauces tasted very similar to sriracha but homemade so better. Haha my other friend had the croque madame, which I've never seen before, also very delicious (she let me steal a bite). We also had to try the oysters, because...oysters ofcourse! They had great flavor, raw oysters with hamachi on top and some kind of ponzu sauce. Yum yum yum! My friend had the espresso martini which she loved and said she could tell there was alcohol in it. Overall a great experience! Give this gem a try!

Frank P.

Yelp
The food was okay, but it didn't really impress us. The burger fell apart easily, and both the patty and bun were quite dry. The polenta with mushrooms had good flavor, but I'd suggest offering a smaller portion at a slightly lower price. I'd also recommend skipping the Parmesan water in favor of regular Parmesan, and perhaps adding a few pieces of toasted sourdough to help scoop up the mushrooms. As it was, the dish felt a bit soupy and incomplete. The restaurant itself was quite loud, which made conversation difficult. That said, the place has potential -- I'd love to see it refine some of these details because the concept is promising.

Yelp
I've been in a lot of incredible places recently but I haven't been posting, but there is no possibility of me not saying this is one of the best restaurants that I've enjoyed in a long, long time! Such Wonderful people and absolutely incredible food in a very charming space in the city. I hate to leave this review because I don't want it to be too busy when I come back, (which I absolutely will) but you've got to try this place out!

Yelp
Visited Indigo twice on a recent trip to the Bay Area with friends. They have carefully curated a fantastic food and beverage menu with thoughtful glassware and presentations. This place was bustling...stellar and friendly service (attentive but not annoying). Highlights were the kash smash burger, polenta with mushrooms, steak, and the tequila lime chicken wings (not pictured, but so flavorful). Cocktails were unique and tasty. Perfect date night spot or place to catch up with friends for an intimate dinner. Cheers to this amazing new spot in the Marina.

Yelp
Highly recommend this new restaurant in the Marina. Cocktails are on point, creative, complex, based in classics, and so worth it. The food is beautiful and tasty. I love that the menu isn't following any specific genre of food which works for someone like me that likes a little bit of everything.
google avatar

Lynne S.

Yelp
Indigo's owner greeted us right away. It was Happy Hour so ... We ordered the chaucutarie tray. The cheeses, olives and the pita were excellent. I ordered trout. It came with a delicious sauce. My parrner enjoyed the chicken skewers. We will definitely be back.
google avatar

Yelp
New spot in the neighborhood. Good slightly upscale casual food. Highly recommend! Their cocktail menu seems interesting: cocktails around the world.

Amanda D.

Yelp
Went here to celebrate a birthday dinner and the meal was absolutely perfect. We ordered a pornstar martini that was crafted so well, sweet and hit the right spot. We also had the tequila lime chicken wings. These were the best wings I've probably ever had. Our mains the NY steak and chicken skewers were both so delicious, highly recommend the steak. The servers were so kind and made my birthday dinner very special. The service was 10/10. I liked the music they were playing as well. Love the interior and dark ambiance as well ! Will be coming back for sure for the drinks and sides they offer. Also the chocolate dessert they had was so rich, we loved it.
google avatar

Rafi K.

Yelp
The Kashmiri Chicken skewers were fantastic! Super savory and tasty on its own but the extra hot sauce on the side gave it the kick I wanted. Even the basmati rice was perfectly flavored. Wish I had taken a pic!

Yelp
Date night at Indigo was lovely. We walked in with no reservation and was immediately greeted by previous patrons who were ranting on how this gem was the neighborhood's best kept secret. The host ended up being one of the owners, and was so incredibly kind from start to finish. As someone who has grown up in the industry, SF puts me out sometimes with how imposed some establishments come off by the act of the diners dining. The service to me my past 12+ years here can come off cold, impersonal, and monotonous. That however was not the case at Indigo. The cocktails and burgers were so delicious, the service was thoughtful, concise and emotive. Thank you for everything, Indigo. We can't wait to come back! Cheers

Yelp
Tried the Smash Burger and the Meat Me in the Morning and both were absolutely delicious! It was my first visit, but definitely not my last. On top of the great food, the staff was so welcoming and friendly, which made the whole experience even better.

Yelp
Delicious! Great cocktails, food, and ambiance! Definitely check it out. The owner was very kind too!
