I went here yesterday during Washington DC’s restaurant week and my experience was great!! I got the 3 course meal that is $30 per person, and my partner did as well. All of the food was delicious. Their food leans more towards Indian style than Chinese. Our waiter was very nice and was informative of all times on the menu. Their cocktails are delicious and reasonably priced. I would definitely return!

Recently stopped here for dinner on a whim after visiting the park nearby. It was not too busy despite it being a Saturday night. The food was amazing! I had chicken curry, and my husband had shrimp curry and both were delicious. We split an order of chicken Momo, which were spicier than I anticipated, but still so so good. Even my toddler gobbled down his Mac and cheese! Our server was also very friendly and very attentive. Overall, a very pleasant evening. If I lived closer, I could see eating here very regularly!

Been wanting to try this place and it did not disappoint! I got the lunch bowls, which I thought were a combo from looking at the menu but, they were not. So I ended up with two bowls, which was fine because I enjoyed both of them. No complaints, except for the kulfi not being bigger, lol. *** just adding photos because we keep coming back to this place😅***

I come here pretty often for lunch and I really love their chow mein, fried rice, and garlic naan. The lunch menu is such a good deal. The place is clean and cozy too. Just found out they’re closed, and honestly, I’m kinda sad 😢 Hopefully they’ll be back open soon!

Wonderful Dinner at IndoChen! We stopped in at IndoChen for dinner during our girls trip to Old Town Alexandria, and it was a fantastic experience! The four of us ordered seven different dishes to share, and every single one was delicious. The service was attentive and friendly, and the elegant atmosphere made our evening feel extra special. While we didn’t order any vegetarian dishes ourselves, I noticed there were plenty of options available on the menu. It’s definitely a great spot whether you’re just visiting or lucky enough to live in the area. I highly recommend giving IndoChen a try!

Ending was perfect, best butter chicken I’ve had in a while. (I’m from NM so take that with a grain of salt) The service was speedy, Ross took very good care of me. I gave 2 stars for atmosphere because well, it’s a hotel lobby what do you expect. Additionally they had only one choice of Riesling, although it wasn’t my preferred choice, it was good enough. Overall good experience.

Update May 2025: Food was great, we tried a few new dishes, kale chaat, okra masala, fish curry, all items were delicious! Great food! Just happened upon this place as we were in the area. We ordered the vegetable biryani pot for two, salmon Tikka masala with garlic Naan and shrimp fried rice. All items tasted very good and were flavorful. The biryani was on the spicy side, so make sure you like your food spicy if you get this!

It’s a good restaurant, with good ambiance. We liked their cocktails, appetizers were good in taste. The most important part was their price. They were very reasonable and not too expensive. With the taste which they served and price on their menu is completely worth it. I recommend trying their Veg Manchurian, Cocktails, Kale Chat, Fried rice and Naan. The main course Mix veg curry was average.If you try eating meat side dishes. Should their Dumplings ( Chicken ) and fried rice . Recommend by my friends. Overall thumbs up for Cocktails and reasonably priced dishes.

I've been here twice so far and everything is DELICIOUS!! Tonight, I got their chicken tikka masala and it was everything I wanted- warm, creamy and lightly spiced. Can't wait to try more of the menus Update: Indochen has added new menu items and their Tandoori Chicken sandwich is excellent!!

Indochen is a cozy restaurant in Alexandria that serves delicious Indian and Chinese food. My biggest worry about these dual-cuisine places is that they tend to make one cuisine better than the other, but it was a pleasant surprise to find this was not the case! We were able to come on a Friday night at 5:30 pm without a reservation and got seated easily. Every dish was so, so good, and I have no complaints about anything. My personal favorites: - Pork belly: The orange glaze was perfect (not too sweet, not too salty), and the pork belly was so tender and juicy. A great appetizer! - Chicken tikka masala: I think this was the star of the show! It's a classic, simple dish that you think tastes delicious everywhere, but then you eat this and wonder what you've been missing out on. The sauce had amazing flavors with the chicken, and this might be the best tikka masala I've ever had. - Butter naan: Hear me out about this one. They were so generous and gave each of us a whole basket of naan, and every piece was light, warm, and airy. I loved how well it complemented the entrees, which are very sauce-heavy. I wish more people knew about this place because it's so underrated. Come here if you can!

We celebrated our daughter's 30th birthday here and it was a delicious experience. The food was excellent, the atmosphere relaxing, and the dual cuisine concept was delightful. The service by Riya, including her recommendations, was great customer service. I am so glad we went there and I know our daughter, who just moved in that area, will be back. Thank you!!

So much good food!! Where to begin... We went there to celebrate a birthday. Among 7 or 8 or us we ordered several apps and entrees and ate family style. I dont know the names of the dishes but there were all jam packed with flavor and so filling. They had a decent amount of vegetarian options too. The servers were friendly but I felt they were too shy and not quite sure when they needed to come back to check on us. They were super helpful when it came to managing the cake we brought in. Would highly recommend.

My friends and came at 5:00pm on Saturday. Pre-arrival: Reservations are made on their website but it's weird because you have to wait for the Restaraunt to review your submission, then you get an email back confirming/denying. They was odd and I'd like to know availability immediately. Parking & Service: Considering it was Alexandria, I was surprised parking was so available. It's near neighborhoods and a walking trail and seems like a great location. One of our friends was late in our party of 4, but they didn't mind accommodating us and letting us wait until she arrived 25 mins later. Our waitress continuously kept our water glasses full and they cleared our table as we emptied plates. Food: We ordered so much daggone food, we essentially created our own buffet. BBQ ribs w/ fried rice- 5/5 Lamb Rogan Josh- 5/5 Butter chicken - 4/5 it was a little sweet Grilled lamb ribs- 5/5 Palak paneer- 3.5/5 needed salt and would've liked a smaller portion to order as a side. The cheese was the texture of tofu, not sure if that's the norm cuz it was my first time having it Raita- 5/5 large portion Garlic naan- thick and flavorful *They have cheese naan too, but we didn't order any. I would have loved a dates and nuts naan, that flavor profile would've been amazing with the food. I also appreciated there were chutneys on the menu to order as extra.

I had a taste for some good Indian food. Indochen did not disappoint at all. I ordered the samosas as an appetizer and the Chana Masala (chickpeas) and rice as the main course. The food was full of flavor. I love the mango chutney on everything. The service was just ok. I had to ask for lemons for my water several times. We went on a weekday so the atmosphere was more of working professionals. When I'm in DC again I will definitely visit this place again.

Great!! It's a little on the more expensive side, but the food is good!! The service is fine and the ambiance is really nice. We always get a few appetizers and we pretty much change those appetizers every time we visit. The food is overall good!! I'd recommend

Food was great, but I wish the server asked for our preferred spice level - it was not spicy enough for us! We ordered the butter chicken, saag paneer, cheese naan and chicken dumplings. Food was flavorful but not spicy at all! Chicken is halal!!

The food is always phenomenal at Indochen! Indochen is among the most consistently amazing Indian restaurants in all of the DMV and boasts my personal favorite dish, the crispy kale chaat. You cannot go wrong with any menu item, but that and the mutter paneer are to die for!

Who would have thought an Indian/Chinese fusion would have such a great bar selection! Their wine and whiskey selection is impressive and the cocktails are wonderful. The spicy marg is my personal favorite, not too spicy with a hint of sweetness. The space is open and never feels crowded, it is great for a casual date night or to catch up with a group of friends. The food was quick and delicious. We started with the pork belly app which was so tender and the sauce was flavorful, we then split the vindaloo which had a really nice heat to it and of course had to get the garlic nann. The portion sizes were average and good for one person or getting a few things to split between 2 people, wouldn't recommend splitting between more than 2 max 3. Staff was friendly and attentive. Overall wonderful experience and will definitely be back

IndoChen was phenomenal. Their entrees are so delicious and they come out fairly quickly. Their spicy margarita is a must have! I love Margaritas and this one is just extra special and full of flavor! If you love pork belly, they have an amazing to share platter just such an amazing introduction to your meal. The cauliflower entree was also just as delectable. The star of the show was the tikka masala of course! We asked them if they could bring spicy sauce on the side and it was perfect! Their dishes are made for every palate whether you like it very little spice you can always ask for the spicy sauce and add more to your liking. The service was awesome any waiter that walked by helped us out wether we wanted another drink or to refill our water, or had questions the menu. The interior is beautiful! Now that it is getting nice outside you can also take advantage of their beautiful outside seating overlooking a gorgeous park you can take a walk after your meal.

When I was visiting DC, my group and I went here for restaurant week in Virgina and were amazed! $25 per person for a 3 course meal was a great deal. The food was delicious and the ambience was super cute! It's a good thing we made reservations because it was super packed. The veg Manchurian was a little undercooked but the butter chicken, lamb ghosh and chicken tikka masala were tasty with garlic naan. Out of all the appetizers, the kale chaat was our favorite. And of course cannot go wrong with all the desserts: kheer (rice pudding), gulab jamun and rasmalai. Also great service! Highly recommend!

My sister loves this place so we decided to order takeout while I was in town visiting. I'm a bit torn when it comes to this review because I really wanted to hands-down love it and give it 5 stars but there are a few things I cannot overlook. So here are my pros and cons... Pros: - Indo-Chinese food is a great mixture of flavors and dishes, so I'm all for it - decent portion sizes - there are 2 locations now, but this one is conveniently located inside a neighborhood where parking is easy - short wait time - good food options: Orange shrimp was tasty appetizer, chickpea curry and rice was good, samosas were decent Cons: - why is it soooo expensive??? - I forgot I ordered a protein with my chow menu because there were mounds and mounds of noodles and maybe 4 shrimp and a scant amount of veggies on top. VERY DISAPPOINTING! Especially after paying over $20 for this dish. Listen I totally understand inflation but come on, half of the food was not worth the cost. $60 total bill for what we got is not ideal, especially when the main dishes were basically chow mein noodles (because I barely had protein in it) and chickpeas in a curry sauce with rice. Sorry but this was very disappointing and I hope they make a few changes. This pains me to say but I would give Indochen a 3.5 stars at best.

This restaurant is in the spot of the old London Curry House. They still serve the chicken vindaloo which is a great for me. The naan is fresh and the rice also very good. Service was ok; not super attentive. The food is worth it.

We decided to try this restaurant as part of their restaurant week special since they had great deals - $25 for a 3 course meal including appetizer entree and dessert. We were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and food. The vibe of the interior is upscale casual and we were able to get a reservation for 4 just a few days before. The food was absolutely amazing. As a South Indian living in the states, I don't often find authentic indo Chinese food but this place truly delivered. They respected our spice tolerance in the dishes and we liked majority of the food we ordered. Highly recommend the curries - especially the butter chicken, the lamb rogan josh and chicken tikka masala were also really tasty. The kale chaat was the highlight of the appetizers. The chow mein was good but forgettable. I would skip the veg manchurian, it was a bit undercooked. The chicken spring roll however was quite tasty. The desserts were good and a nice supplement to the meal, but I probably wouldn't have gotten them if it weren't for the restaurant week special. Definitely planning on coming back here and enjoying more Indian food!

I took a small group to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was everyone's first time, so I order buffet style and shared. Surprisingly each item arrived tapas style which was great because it gave everyone opportunity to sample. The service was excellent and because their were multiple people, they all were very attentive without asking. In between the appetizers and entrees, they brought out a new clean plate which was a plus. To top it off, the staff surprise our birthday friend with a delicious dessert. We will definitely be back.

I've been walking by this place forever but finally decided to give it a try because of the restaurant week deal they had. $25 for 3 courses The place was packed on a Saturday night and we had to sit at the bar but service was still okay! Wasn't an issue at all Appetizers: Samosa- good! Fairly average Vegetable Manchurian - The filling wasn't dense but the sauce absolutely brought it home. So delicious! Kinda reminded me of general tso sauce Entree: Lamb Rohan Josh- great flavor but wish the lamb was a little more tender. Butter chicken- this dish takes the cake. It was more flavorful than the lamb. Even if you're afraid of the butter chicken being run of the mill, cast that aside. This dish is bomb. Typical butter chicken is the last thing it could be Garlic naan- fluffy thick naan. Dipped this in the butter chicken and *chefs kiss* Dessert: Rice pudding- not too sweet. Depth of flavor in the rice pudding that isn't usually found in other restaurants. Great dessert! Gulab- syrupy and very sweet! Your average gulab

Tried this place on a whim with friends for restaurant week and we were not disappointed! We tried a variety of appetizers and entrees and everything was delicious. Every chicken dish was so moist and flavorful - some of the best chicken I've ever had out! Great flavors. Don't skip on the spicy margarita, also! Great service as well - very humble servers and prideful of their food. Didn't take any pictures because everything was so yummy!! Tons of leftovers and a nice portion of naan.

location is in a cute, quiet location near a soccer field! The food was so yummy, i felt like i was getting a warm hug. The ambiance and design of the place felt very classy without having you feel like you were under or overdressed. The service was great and they gave us this super yummy, soft dessert on the house!! Overall 5/5 experience, i want to go back to try more food!!

More of a 4.5. Nice atmosphere and love the location too. Food was prepared well and lots of food options. So we made the most of it. We were a group of 6. Apps: pork belly, great texture and delicious Samosa- good but not remarkable Veggie Manchurian- more like a veggie fritter, I enjoyed it. Chili chicken- it was ok Kale chaat- everyone at our table loved it. It contained mango so I couldn't have it. Entrees: Chicken Chow Mein - it was ok. Lamb Rogan Josh- I enjoyed it Butter chicken- flavorful, loved the sauce Palak Paneer-I would get it again Chicken Biryani Rice- large portion! It was good Garlic and plain naan- you just can't go wrong with naan! An overall nice dining experience. We would definitely return but I would request more "heat!" A personal preference.

Love it! Both the Indian and the Chinese dishes are excellent, and there's even some fusion going on with the fried rice (it's basmati)! The fried whole pompano, as well as the sardine, is EXCELLENT. The lamb dumplings outstanding. DEFINITELY get some of the brussels sprouts. Oh, and the chow mein noodles are Grrrrreat! Everything has a nice lo-midlevel heat to it too.

Got takeout for the family here the other night. Ordering process was easy and food was ready on time. The best things we got were the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and chili chicken. The Chana masala, chicken curry and shrimp fried rice were all good, nothing too special. Was given plenty of rice too! Sometimes places skimp, but there was more than enough and it was cooked perfectly. Only complaint was the curry sauces were all a bit oily and separated - both night of and when heated for leftovers.

Indochen is a top-rated restaurant inside the Hyatt Centric Hotel along King Street. Although it's acclaimed for dinner, we went for breakfast while staying at the hotel. It opens at 7 a.m. most days, including weekends. There's bar seating and tables throughout the space. Service was attentive and kind. The menu is diverse and has sweet and savory breakfast items and juice and coffee. My daughter loved the pancakes and my omelette was decent. If you're guests and want convenience, it's a fine option.

As usual, the most amazing tandoori chicken. This is my first choice, but the other items are also delicious, like tandoori roasted rack of lamb; butter chicken; the biryani pot dises and their chow meins. So lucky to have this place within walking distance from our house! Very tasty special cocktail selections. These are my favorites and the booze associated with them: The American (bourbon), the Brennman Park (vodka) and the Indian Mule (Mango vodka).

This was a nice little find. I had no idea there were restaurants off this neighborhood. The restaurant has a great interior and the staff was extremely friendly. The food tasted really good, and I loved the presentation of the dishes (the lunch bowls had the food laid out like the Indian flag).

Lots of indoor seating with limited outdoor seating. Plenty of free street parking. Reasonably priced craft cocktails ($10). Ordered the saag paneer (quality ingredients and not overly processed spinach, cheese wasn't salty like other establishments), butter chicken (incredibly tender chicken and flavorful sauce), garlic naan, and mint sauce. All served with a side of rice. Total bill set us back around $80. Hesitated visiting bc it was a combo of Chinese and Indian (admittedly we didn't try any of the Chinese inspired dishes) but we will definitely be back.

Delicious dinner. We ordered the chicken spring roll and samosa to start, and both were mouth watering delicious. For our entrees we ordered the shrimp chow mein and the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan. Everything was tasty - the tikka masala was rich and the chow mein, although a little greasy, was flavorful. The naan was awesome. Our server was friendly, although very quiet. The atmosphere is a little bland, but clean and roomy. One minor compaint my spouse had was that the chow mein noodles were lo mein noodles, so not exactly what was expected. Overall, great food and good experience.

Love this spot. Perfect place to bring a few people and order a bunch of stuff to share. My favorite bites were the orange shrimp and samosas. We also enjoyed the biryani pot with chicken. The environment I would say is good, not great. It is clean and modern but I think with the theme of food the environment could be more inviting. With that said- food makes up for it!

Having heard positive things, I decided to drop by IndoChen's stand alone restaurant recently for dinner. It's directly located across from the beautiful Brenman Park; and the neighborhood has ample free street parking, even at 6pm. Walking in you're greeted with a simple, but chic interior and we were quickly seated by staff. I went hoping to experience unique Nepali flavors ... and looking to answer the question: what flavors are forged by a people sandwiched geographical between India and China. We kicked off dinner with cocktails, and they tasted great heavenly. I highly recommend you give one a shot. We ordered garlic naan and lamb dumplings for appetizers. The naan was heavenly; soft & chewy, buttered, and flavorful. And the dumplings were freshly made and mouth watering. The name of the dip we got for the naan escapes me but it was something else too and I loved the serving wear used with it's decorated copper handles. With things starting out so strong; I was surprised that the only "miss" of the evening was unfortunately the pork ribs! I really wanted to love these, as they were prepped well (no membrane) and tender. But unfortunately they were completely over seasoned; with the chef using far too much hoisin sauce. Which is best used sparingly because of how salty it is. It was unfortunately a star losing seasoning mishap. Unexpectedly, the fried rice its served with? Was quite literally the best I've had in years. It was just incredible. I left IndoChen wondering if I ordered their best dishes. I also couldn't readily spot (lack of cultural experience and minimal menu descriptions) what dishes I should order to best experience Nepali flavors; and see how those differ from dishes that may exist in India or China, but seasoned differently. And it's why I need to return to try more! While I don't recommend the pork ribs; it's clear the food here is prepared with care. And I want to give them another shot.

Great food, great service and great ambiance. Like a lot of places, the servings were large - and it was wonderful to be able to enjoy the leftovers!

An incredibly delicious meal at Indochen! We've been looking for a good Indo-Chinese restaurant and I think the search is over. Everything we ordered was amazing and fresh. We started with samosa chaat. Piping hot, fresh from the kitchen and delicious. For entrees we ordered chicken chow mein, lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka masala, and garlic naan. Everything was so good. The chow mein was packed with flavor, both curries were amazing and the garlic naan was the perfect pairing. Finally for dessert we ended with gulab jamun. Warm, soft, and the perfect way to end an incredible meal. The service was great, always checking in on us and providing what we needed throughout our time. Can't wait to come back and try more!

Excellent service and tasty food! We ordered the lamb chops which were prepared exactly the way we requested. The restaurant area is smaller as it is part of a hotel lobby; great use of the open space. Noise level is medium. We will definitely be back to enjoy once again.

The food was delicious, and I would definitely consider Indochen for takeout. We had Chicken Briyani and appetizers. However, service was mixed from the very beginning. I tried to create an online reservation from the website, and the automated response said, "We'll get back to you!". That didn't happen. At 7 pm, I called for a 7:30 reservation. Someone answered, and that worked. When we arrived, there was no host. We stood around for five minutes until we flagged down some staff. They handed us cheap black-and-white menus that looked like they were run off an in-house printer. Service was satisfactory; this is the restaurant for you if keeping your water glass filled is essential. However, the waitstaff didn't ask me if I wanted a second beer, but I did get more water. The ambient noise level was loud for me--lots of hard surfaces.

Indochen is one of my favorite restaurants in the DMV. The Chef is amazing and the food routinely beats my expectations. The staff is always very considerate and friendly. When I am looking for an exceptional meal - this place is at the top of my list!

I ordered delivery and it was extremely good. I ordered the chicken tikka masala and samosa 2 pack and they were excellent. It's pricy but the portions were quite large in my opinion. I have enough for lunch tomorrow or could have split it! Definitely recommend

This place used to be called London curry house a while back but they changed their name. Regardless the food and service are still great! I always get the butter chicken and naan!

They have good food. Quiet place to have a lunch. The bread is good. Nice people, nice service. It's not a busy area.

Wow. Wow. Wow. To call the maker of this Shirley Temple a bartender is a complete understatement. This Shirley Temple was made by an artist. Very pretty Shirley Temple indeed. See the below photo for reference. For starters, this person knows what a Shirley Temple is as evidenced by the inclusion of cherries (seems like a low bar, but you'd be surprised at how many restaurants aren't the wiser). Great presentation, great sprite to grenadine ratio. I was a little hesitant that the grenadine was concentrated all at the bottom, but it looked fancy and with a quick stir it was ready to drink, so I approve. The only thing I have to point out is that they used luxardo cherries. The standard is to use maraschino cherries, it makes a big difference. Eating a luxardo cherry when you're accustomed to a maraschino cherry is like opening a tin cookie container only to find it filled with sewing equipment. However, I thoroughly appreciate the effort to provide cherries nevertheless. It shows a real attention to detail and care for the restaurant experience. This person more than sufficiently made did with what they had in their inventory. As my friend Maria very eloquently put it, this is an architect's Shirley Temple. Four stars for presence of cherries and presentation. This would most certainly be five stars with maraschino cherries. Also, the service was great. Harshit took very good care of us. My glass of water was always full, I don't think I've ever drank so much water in one sitting in my life. Certainly five star service. We came for restaurant week and did we pick a good one! Felt like a family affair. Service was great, food delicious!

Fantastic service and food. Food is a mix of south Asian and Chinese dishes. Their naan bread is probably the best I have ever had. Only restaurant in America that you'd find world class naan bread and Chinese style pork belly. We primarily ordered South Asian dishes and find them amazing. The services were team effort and they were all hospitable and attentive.

UsualLy great but the last palak chaat was dry and was inedible. I asked for extra sauce in it and they barely gave any all on the side. Also, the butter chicken has gone downhill. It was missing a richness and sweetness. I dunno what happened. I might give this place one more try but I had a major let down

This place has a greta mix of Indian/Chinese style food and every bit of it is tasty! Definitely recommend as it's never been too busy to be seated immediately, the wait staff is very attentive, and the cheese naan is amazeballs! Go check them out for real!

I stopped by Indochen for lunch randomly and ended up greatly enjoying my experience and making plans to come back! We ordered the the Kale Chaat as an appetizer. I have never seen an Indian restaurant offer Chaat made with a kale base and I really enjoyed the healthier twist on the dish. The kale was super crisp and allowed the flavors of the various sauces to really shine through. We also ordered the Lamb Biryani Pot for two, Butter Naan, a Mango Lassi, and some Gulab Jamun for dessert. The portion size for the biryani was huge and the Mango Lassi was the perfect complement, helping to soothe my tongue from all the (great) spices incorporated into the Biryani. The Butter naan was equally and perfectly fluffy and buttery while the Gulab Jamun was a nice way to end the meal off with something sweet. I do wish that the Biryani came with more Raita, as the serving size was incredibly small compared to the amount of Biryani that you are served.  I'm giving four out of five stars because while the Biryani is part of the lunch special, it isn't included with the special lunch deal that they have available where you can add on things such as the Mango Lassi, Naan, and Gulab Jamun for a cheaper price.

This restaurant is one of the hidden gems in the DMV! It was started by two folks who once worked at a Michelin starred restaurant and it shows. If you're looking for ambiance and a diverse menu that caters to every taste, then you have to come and check this place out. The drinks are also nothing short of excellent (even the non-alcoholic ones I had).

Food was very tasty, service was promise, ambience was pleasant and easy to get reservations.
