Inman Quarter is a trendy mixed-use development that opened in Inman Park in 2014. It's in a prime location, at what some may consider the heart of Inman Park. It's close to a bunch of good restaurants, bars, and cafes, many of which preceded the construction of this property, and has a whole set of restaurants and retailers of its own. This review is written from my perspective as a visitor to Inman Quarter's restaurants and not as a resident of the apartment complex.
At the time of writing this review, I've eaten at all of Inman Quarter's current restaurants. If I ranked the restaurants based on my personal experiences (food, service, atmosphere, overall enjoyment), the ranking would be:
1. Bread & Butterfly - European bistro and cafe (December 2015)
2. MF Sushi - sushi (May 2015)
3. Char Korean Bar & Grill - Korean BBQ (September 2016)
4. BeetleCat - seafood (December 2015)
5. bartaco - Mexican food (August 2015)
6. Hampton + Hudson - gastropub (May 2016)
(Opening month and year listed in parenthesis.)
Generally speaking, I think the current restaurant lineup at Inman Quarter is a good one. The restaurant mix is diverse and the only true chain restaurant is bartaco. MF has some other locations as well. All of these restaurants either have established names (chefs/restaurateurs) or restaurant groups behind them. For example, Bread & Butterfly is sister restaurants with Cakes & Ale (Decatur) and Proof Bakeshop, Richard Tang is the man behind Char (he opened Craft Izakaya at Krog Street Market), BeetleCat is yet another successful Atlanta creation of chef Ford Fry, and Hampton + Hudson is from the same folks who run Cypress Street Pint & Plate in Midtown.
I think most of the restaurants are worth checking out, particularly Bread & Butterfly for brunch (currently, I think it's one of the best brunch spots in the city). You can skip bartaco if you've already been to the Buckhead and Westside locations. In general, prices are a bit inflated at these restaurants (e.g. the Korean BBQ at Char is expensive when compared to the Korean BBQ you can find in Duluth and there's a $14 avocado toast on the menu at Bread & Butterfly; however, it is very good!), but this is a popular, high-rent neighborhood.
Along with the restaurants listed above, Inman Quarter is also home to Voga Italian Gelato, which recently opened in September 2017 next door to Bread & Butterfly, and Barcelona VinoTeca, a wine shop (opened February 2016) from the same owners as Barcelona Wine Bar across the street.
Aesthetically, Inman Quarter looks great. There's a large courtyard that you can't see from the street. It's an open, breezy area, clean, with nice landscaping, a waterfall, and plenty of seating. Several of the restaurants have patio seating facing this part of the development.
There's valet parking in front of MF plus a parking deck where you can self-park for a fee. Unlike other developments such as Atlantic Station, where the first two hours are free, or The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, where restaurants validate parking, no restaurant at Inman Quarter validates parking in the Inman Quarter parking deck. Booooo. The parking rates are as follows:
0-2 hours - $5
2-4 hours - $7
4-6 hours - $9
6-8 hours - $11
8-24 hours - $16
Lost ticket - $16
If you have to park in a deck for a restaurant in Atlanta, it's usually free or the restaurant will validate. This is where Inman Quarter fails. Alternatively, you can park on the street for free, but spaces close to the development during peak times can be hard to come by. If you don't mind walking a little (this is a relatively safe part of town), there are plenty of spaces further away. Note certain streets in Inman Park are permit-only during certain days and hours so pay attention to the signs if you decide to park on the street. Good streets to park on are Lake Ave, Austin Ave, and Elizabeth St.
Access to the BeltLine's Eastside Trail is nearby as are many other restaurants, bars, and cafes like The Brasserie and Neighborhood Cafe at Parish (Southern), Amara (Indian), Inman Perk Coffee, Barcelona Wine Bar (Spanish tapas), Kale Me Crazy (smoothie and juice bar), Pure Taqueria, King of Pops (walk-up window), Fritti (pizza), Sotto Sotto (excellent Italian), and The Albert (bar). All in all, it's a nice little area.
