Still remember my first visit here as a kid. Still visit when I'm in the area. Bring your kids here there's lots of fun activities to do.

A popular place for wedding and special events. A secure parking lot for visitors. LA City security guards are visibly patrolling the surrounding area.

I used to come here when I was little with my classroom. I often think about this place because it brings so many wonderful memories. Paining, crafting, acting, singing, music instruments etc. Definitely a core memory. I wish I can go back in time! It just makes me sad how fast we grow up. I would like to re-visit some time. I love this place & would recommend it 1000+++

Best place ever! My son loves his acting class. Teachers are awesome, there’s a lot of classes for kids/teens.

Inner city art located at the 💜 of the Skid Row provide Education to children through different Programs also provide creative art for all ages group ,It's a great place to be because you are not judged ,see you as a human but any other characteristic .

My daughter went to this with her class.She went to creativity lab with half of her friends.They got to work with Disney and make Disney slot cars.It was so awesome.😁

Rosenthal Theatre is on the Inner-City Arts Campus south of Little Tōkyō. It's an oasis of culture in the middle of small warehouses and small manufacturing shops. Rosenthal Theatre is a large, flat space with no raised stage. Bleacher seating on the first floor against all the four walls. Shallow mezanine seating looks down on the performance space below. Since it is sort of like a theatre in the round with no front, back, sides, I unfortunately sat where the actors mostly faced away from me so I couldn't always see their faces during much of the performance. With such a huge space that swallows up sound and with poor acoustics and not all their voices being projected and enunciated clearly, it was a slog trying to catch every word. Also coming in from the bright May afternoon sun and not being used to the dark lit theatre, going up the stygian stairs was awkward. Hero Theater presented "Tea" by Velina Hasu Houston, directed by Rebecca Wear. It's a story about Japanese women marrying American soldiers in occupied Japan right after World War II and living in their husbands' state of Kansas. They go through many hardships trying to assimilate living in an alien land facing anti-Asian discrimination. It reminds me of "The Women" directed by George Cukor in that the husbands that they talk about never appear on stage. A little bit of Mort Crowley's bitchy "Boys in the Band" where they lose their polite façades and tell each other their true inner feelings, but this time there is a less bitter, sweet ending. Nice production where perhaps a little knowledge of Japanese American culture & heritage does help understand some of the culture based humour & asides. 80 minutes went by quickly. 4- stars...If only the acoustics were better.

Great beautiful art, great staff will definitely be returning. Love the enthusiasm as well.

Came here for Summer on 7th and to see a play a few months ago. It's like a campus of sorts and serves as an elementary school and summer camp facility. The Summer on 7th event was like going to a museum/open house - pretty fun! It was organized and staffed well. The labs, activities, and arts on display were very cool and inspiring. Made for a fun/different date night.

Attended Inner City Arts annual Summer on 7th event this past weekend and not only is it a phenomenal non-profit offering arts classes to kids in schools that are lacking creative outlets, it's also a gorgeous campus/event venue. The event was a blast, with free spin art courtesy of Art Rebel Studio, live painting, an art exhibit, complimentary shirts from Seventh Letter and hats, as well screen printing (for an additional donation), food from Patina group (taco station) and Hungry Nomad (hefty sandwiches with flat bread chips), coupled with sweets, beer, wine, and bubbly. There was also a fantastic photobooth from Oh Snap!, DJ with ample room for dancing, and a live band playing Latin-inspired jams. The mystery box game is a hoot ($20 and you pick a box from a huge table of mystery gifts and all proceeds go back to the organization). There was also a tiny market featuring local artists selling their creations, and of course, tours of the campus. A really fantastic cause, summer activity, and evening out on the town wrapped into one!

An awesome cultural oasis in the middle of an emerging neighborhood. That's a nice way to say, there is so much goodness going on inside this campus that with any luck, before long, that goodness will spread to the somewhat sketchy environs. The Phil Rosenthal Theatre (named after Arts Patron and creator of 'Everyone Loves Raymond') is comfortable, flexible theatre space that houses, among other productions, work by the folks from The Virginia Avenue Project. (Disclaimer: I've done some volunteer work with these fine folks, including a show featuring kids with Adult Mentors). Talking with the people of I.C.A., I learned that the facility is used yearround for programs that bus kids throughout Los Angeles to come and explore and express themselves through Art. They have good folks here who now concentrate on making sure the next generation(s) get a chance to get involved with all facets of the Arts. Bravo!

We were here for the Summer on 7th event. This is a great learning campus. It looks fantastic. There are labs for all types of arts and learning. They do a great job of working with the next generation to get their minds working on another level. We were able to tour the various studios and speak to the staff about their roles. Everyone is in this for the right reasons. They are passionate about helping making the next generation great. The event was also great. There were two stages for music and multiple bars. Four food trucks were available too. Take some time to check out this campus and the programs they make available. It is a great cause.

This school is an oasis in the middle of skid row. Giving children a chance at life that would never have been able to experience on their own.

Back in the day (some mmm...something years ago) my friends and I in elementary school just assumed that somewhere in our day we'd get the chance to draw, play music (is the triangle really an instrument?) and learn a little bit more about being a creative kid. These days kids in Los Angeles along with too many other cities in our country don't have that chance. For many kids coming from the under served downtown neighborhoods of Los Angeles, Bob Bates and team to the rescue. Inner City Arts serves thousands of elementary school age children each year, giving them the chance to take part in hands on activities such as music, ceramics, drawing, dance and theater. Over the past few years I've had the chance to volunteer with this organization and I remain completely inspired by the enthusiasm of the children ICA serves. I went here for the Summer on 7th event and had a fun time! I only came here to see a band I really liked (The Internet), but I was surprised by the event and the space itself. Walking around, there is a lot of art to appreciate.I wish I knew the official names, but here I go: there's that 3D flash movement exhibit, the swirly pen drawing thing, marble mazes, ceramic art, cool water fountain, awesome paintings, and more! Seeing all this impressed me and happy that Inner City Arts provides a place for kids to be creative. It's truly an inspiring place! As for the Summer on 7th event, it was a super fun event. There were many food trucks and vendors, multiple bars, two stages (one indoor and one on the rooftop), and super cool people and music! My boyfriend and I boogied the night away, especially when the Internet performed! It was a great night. Another thing I loved about the event was that they provided shuttle service to a parking lot about 2 blocks down. Normally I wouldn't mind walking the two blocks but the area is pretty sketchy, so the service was really nice to have. I'm looking forward to the next Summer on 7th event! Overall, I'm glad this place offers a lot for the kids! Thanks!
