Such a fangirl when it comes to Insomnia Cookies.
For years in college, I watched in agony as my internet friends indulged in warm, gooey cookies from this place. I saw them getting cookies delivered in the late night hour and sharing such bliss by Instagramming each morsel to torture me. And then, Insomnia came to New Orleans.
Surprisingly enough, Insomnia arrived on Maple immediately after I graduated from college. What a bust, I thought. Until I moved uptown and visited this spot after one too many whiskey cokes at Bruno's. (my collegiate stomping grounds, might I add. While I'm at it, Tulanians, you should beat it. Bruno's is Loyolo territory, fam. And don't you forget it.)
Anywho, I was in cookie heaven from the first time I saw that sign lighting up in all it's pride and glory. Two chocolate chip cookies is what I asked the gentleman for behind the counter who served me, and soon enough I became a Stan of Insomnia.
The cookies are served warm on the inside and chewy on the outside. My regular favorite may be the classic chocolate chip, but I go for the s'mores deluxe cookie when I'm feeling real fancy. Yesterday I ordered delivery for the first time, which was super speedy. I winded up ordering the two cookies and a milk combo as well as a deluxe cookie with a scoop of ice cream. I like that they put the ice cream in a separate container so it doesn't melt while transporting.
In closing, I'm addicted to the damn cookies and they need a punch card for customers (if that isn't a thing there yet). I also appreciate that they hire nearby students. Although, I'm glad this spot wasn't on Maple St. when I was in college. That freshman 15 would've been more like a freshman 30 for ya girl.
