The lattes here are nice, although they could be a bit hotter! I enjoyed the vanilla iced latte, not to sweet but maybe a little heavy on the milk. The service was great, and the wait was only about 10min. And the atmosphere of the cafe is really cool, I love the industrial design and the exposed ceiling. Super cool vibe.

Intelligentsia Coffee in Venice is a coffee lover’s paradise! The quality of their coffee is unmatched—smooth, rich, and always perfectly brewed. Whether it’s an espresso, a latte every cup is crafted with care and attention to detail. The atmosphere is trendy and vibrant, making it a great spot to grab a coffee and soak in the Venice vibe. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about coffee, which makes the experience even better.

Parking for the cafe is along the streets in front or at the back of the building. Can get a bit crowded but shouldn’t be too long to wait for a spot. Coffee is decent and service is adequate and efficient. Nice place to sit at and there’s always a stream of customers coming in but most are for takeaway so not hard to get a table unless it’s the weekend. Worth dropping by if you’re in the area.

Google
Intelligentsia Coffee in Venice is a gem, though it’s no secret— expect it to be pretty popular and sometimes packed, especially during peak hours. That said, the coffee here is hands-down the best in the game, always consistent and never disappointing. I’m obsessed with their almond milk lattes—they seriously don’t miss. It’s a hotspot for people working remotely, with plenty of laptops out, and the WiFi is usually super reliable. The baristas are the cherry on top—always super nice, fun, and ready to brighten your day. Totally worth it, even when it’s busy!

Google
Amazing coffee in the heart of Venice!! Located on famous Abbot Kinney. Perfect place to grab an espresso, flat white, iced coffee and take a work call. Raul is super friendly at the cashier! Gives great recommendations. Peach made my drink with a lot of love and pretty design. Definitely check this coffee shop out next time you’re in Venice!

This place has changed a lot since I was last here. The coffee… well, see for yourself. It shouldn’t have been served. Milk was burnt. Just tasted awful. Too bad.

Google
Really good! I got a matcha and it was definitely yummy, the simple syrup they made was phenomenal!

I regularly meet a friend here to discuss quantum physics. It’s a very popular place, but you can always find a table. The spacious interior creates a comfortable atmosphere, and the tiered seating gives it the feel of a lecture hall. The tea and coffee are tasty, as are the croissants—I haven’t tried anything else. A great spot for friendly meetups and engaging conversations. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Okay, I'm convinced. This is some fantastic coffee :O !!! I can't believe of my 6 years living in LA, this is my first time trying this place. The ambiance here is so hipster and lively, but that really goes for any place in Venice, esp Abbott Kinney. Service was a bit slow tho; this may be due to the fact I came on a holiday. The baristas were friendly and you can tell they really know their regulars (: I ordered an iced vanilla latte ($7.50) which was incredibly smooth, and I could actually taste unique hints of their distinguished beans. I got a ham & cheese croissant as well which was from the same vendor that supplies many surrounding cafes in LA, so nothing special there (they also don't heat up your pastry, sigh); plus, they charged $8 for this, whereas it is $5 for the exact same pastry at other places like Demitasse in SM. This cafe is a great place to get some work done as they have various types of seating (counter, upper stage, side chairs flanking the bar, outdoor tables). Outlets are scarce though--I think I only spotted 2--so try to charge your electronics prior to coming here. They have a restroom for patrons to use. Parking can be tricky, but we saw a lot of street parking stalls open (non-metered) as well as a small lot in the back. Overall, Intelligentsia is defs on the pricier side here but I'd come back for their quality coffee and work space. I recommend visiting to anyone in the Venice area~

Yelp
Intelligentsia on Abbot Kinney is like stepping back into the Venice of the 90s--effortlessly cool, unassuming, and refreshingly free of pretense. It reflects the neighborhood's original charm, blending laid-back vibes with an inviting energy that feels like home. The interior strikes the perfect chord: understated with a slight edge, a space that draws you in whether you're meeting with a friend or grabbing your coffee to go. Everything here flows seamlessly, from the industrial design to the playlist that always seems to hit the right note conveying the perfect vibe for the moment. My ideal Saturday starts early, cruising down Abbot Kinney while the street is still quiet, and stopping at Intelligentsia for a Black Cat espresso before heading to the beach. It's become a self-care ritual--simple, grounding, and the perfect exhale. The lattes here are unmatched: mellow, rich, and flawlessly consistent. For those who know their coffee, the craftsmanship speaks for itself. Of all the coffee spots I've experienced over the years, this Intelligentsia remains my number one. It's not just a café; it's a nod to the old-school soul of Abbot Kinney. If you know, you know.

Yelp
Intelligentsia coffee was one of most beloved coffee shops ever. Not only their drinks were delicious but their cafes were super cool with awesome decore especially the ones that team up with "green Door" group! I had the same vision about their location in Venice but unfortunately it was a bummer to see that this location was not anything special. I got their famous Aveno latte (half sweet) based on the barista's recommendation with a dust of Cayenne pepper. Unfortunately I could only taste the pepper and the milk. The coffee tasted so flavorless and weak. The inside is so plain and boring.... The parking is a nightmare but there are paid parkings in the back. I will be not returning for sure to this location. Perhaps I will go back to the greendoor location in Carson but not anytime soon!

Yelp
Bright airy atmosphere, lots of seating! Friendly and efficient service. Iced matcha tea was yummy and the matcha tasted like it was high quality. Solid pastry selection, I think they get theirs from Sugarbloom? Great place to hang out with friends or do some work. Gets pretty busy on weekends.

Yelp
I like this place a lot! It's got a lot of space and the interior is cool and industrial. Lotsss of seating indoor, with some out front, too. The employees I encountered were all friendly and my iced latte was really delicious! I will say, the vanilla flavor in my drink is quite faint -- I just asked for more syrup. There are also a good selection of pastries that look delicious. I know where to go when I'm in Venice!

Yelp
Like many things along this famous retail corridor, this place is too cool for school. The coffee is excellent as expected with this chain. From simple black to the more sophisticated espresso offerings. They also have a few cocktail like offerings including a lime coffee blend and this matcha with orange offering that are great. The baristas are happy to opine in the virtues of anything you desire. Can we take about toast? They have some variations of fancy avocado toast that are perfection. The sweets and baked goods are also very good. The interior is like a giant college dorm / rec center ...amphitheater style seating and various homages to local artists. Parking the back is limited but available. Love this spot after a hard day of retail therapy.

Yelp
Oh, sad. A surprisingly disappointing way to end my last coffee drink of the year for me, with my final coffee order from Intelligentsia on the last day of 2023. I arrived at 11:40 AM, waited in line for about 10 minutes, and ordered a simple drink--an oat milk latte. Strangely, after I placed my order, the cashier in a grey shirt with a bit of a mustache mistakenly shouted 'one chai latte?' I promptly moved to the left with the other waiting customers. I observed the two gentlemen in front of me receiving their drinks, followed by four others after me, leading me to suspect my drink might have been overlooked. I approached the sole female barista on duty today, inquiring if my order was missed. Her response was, 'Oh, I think we got confused on your order and gave it to someone else... (??)' Despite my clear visibility standing to the left of the ordering line, their indifference was apparent. Though the latte only took a minute to prepare, there was no apology. I acknowledge I'm often too accommodating; I should have spoken up 15 minutes earlier. Having lived in LA for over 5 years, I remember this location being better in the past. I concur with some negative reviews--there's a sense of snobbishness, indifference, and rudeness among the workers. Their poor customer service today validates those reviews. Additionally, their latte quality is subpar. Previously a 5/5, I now feel a 2/5 rating is generous. I'll choose their other locations in the future.

Yelp
I really like the layout of this cafe, great place to sit and do work or have a chat with friends. The coffee and tea is good too, I got the avena latte iced and they asked if I wanted to actually put the cayenne on top and I said yes, it was an interesting touch but I would get it again.

Yelp
Been a long time fan of Intelligentsia but this was our first time at the Venice location. Great coffee as always! Note that there's parking at the back of the shop.

Yelp
Vibes inside were really nice, good place to get work done but it can get a little busy so noise is definitely there. I got the cherry grenadine. I was really skeptical of it at first because the barista said it has a tart flavor and can get bitter if you order the mocha. I settled for just the normal latte with oat milk. My total was about $7 after tip. The drink itself was pretty good but it didn't taste much like cherry. It also didn't taste like any other regular latte so I'd say there is probably the most subtly fruit flavor to the drink. The barista was very helpful in answering my questions about their menu. My friend got their avena latte and I would definitely come back for the two drinks we ordered. The avena was more of like a cinnamon latte which was nice as someone who loves cinnamon. The parking can get tricky, then again, it's Venice. We had to find street parking somewhere else and walk but it was nice to take a look at the cool little stores around.

Yelp
I have visited this coffee shop quite a few times. But it's been a while. I'm the kind of person who will stick to what works. I always ordered a vanilla iced latte and it was delicious. The croissants they carry are some of the best in town. Service I can't say is all that great. They are busy, yes. But there is something about it that doesn't quite seem welcoming. I don't know, maybe that's just me. I ordered a vanilla latte, not iced. And an egg and ham biscuit. Both shockingly disappointing. The coffee for one was not as rich as I recall it, and I didn't taste any vanilla in it. The sandwich was great in size, but a little bland. I don't know about you but if I pay $18 for a coffee and a sandwich, it better be worth it.

Yelp
3.5 stars as this intelligentsia did not compare to my experience in Austin. I brought my boyfriend here in hopes to get the incredible nitro matcha latte I got in Austin that was easily better than any I've ever had. Sadly I arrived to this location which did not offer that drink, which was weird to me since it's a chain. Anyways, I ended up getting an iced oat milk matcha latte with some sweetener, it was good, but being I had the idea of what I had at the other intelligentsia location I wasn't that impressed. The flavors earthy and definitely needs the sweetener if you don't like the dirty kinda taste. The workers also have this kind of stuck up and careless energy. The lack of care for normal customer service bothered me as most cafes have chipper people who seem to care about providing positive service, I did not get that vibe here. Workers seemed kinda rude and didn't give much to care to giving good service. Also did not give me much matcha for the ridiculous price of nearly $8. It was halfway filled, maybe less and then all ice, and still then was not full. For the price, I would expect the drink and experience to match but it did not. They should get the nitro matcha latte as it is much better than the iced one. Not sure I'll come back.

Yelp
My friends took me here as they said this was the staple LA coffee spot and that I couldn't leave without trying. There was a 10 min line on a Saturday around 11 am. I got a hot oatmilk latte and it was solid in terms of flavor and temperature, however it didn't wake me up at all like I was expecting. Overall good but not sure why the hype is so wild!

Yelp
Love this cafe in Abbot Kinney! Good music, friendly staff, and great vibes for people to work on their laptops and chat with some friends. Plenty of seating, albeit they're not very comfortable - I found myself slouching the whole time but it forced me to focus! I got the iced matcha oat latte for $7.50 and it was delicious! Wifi was quick and the bathroom was clean as well. Will be back again soon!

Yelp
This charming nook nestled in the vibrant heart of Venice is perfect for both getting some work done and indulging in a bit of people-watching. While the mocha might tip the scales slightly in terms of price, its superior quality more than makes up for it. A delightful spot indeed!
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down the best and far most favorite coffee in town. The service was perfection, coffee taste is always consistent and such a great ambiance - which gives a homey vibe. A loyal customer since 2012
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered a draft oat milk latte and it was perfect, not too sweet, not too bitter. The coffee here is delicious and strong. The space is beautiful, and great for working or catching up with a friend. The service we received from our barista was excellent.
google avatar

Yelp
The coffee, the prices and the people are all out of this world, and that's partly why you go. A great location on Abbot Kinney. If you need a hit of caffeine or to get work done, maybe go somewhere else. If you want to read an obscure political book or write with a feather quill, this is a great place to be seen and maybe meet your future elitist spouse. The only people who get a pass are the truly rich locals or the European tourists, who will later tell friends back home that all LA coffee shops are like this.
google avatar

Robert K.

Yelp
Intelligentsia is the best place to go for coffee hands down. Whether you get chai latte, cortados, cappuccino, lattes they make their coffee the best. This is a place to go to in Abbott Kinney and need that pick me up. Beautiful cafe with a lot of natural sunlight without the heat. Perfect place to have a laptop and do some work, relax and have a coffee or just for takeout and walk around Abbott Kinney. This is my favorite place to go on weekends. Can't wait to come back. Thanks for the best.

Yelp
BUZZ COMES FROM THE BEANS not THE HUMAN BEINGS The inner sanctum here is serious people sipping serious coffee. Leave your conversation at the door. THIS IS L A's answer to S F's FOUR BARRELS! BOTH ARE ICONS. Coffees here rare single source perfectly-dialed roast. Baristas curating your perfect beverage. Mine: Cortado in a Gibraltar! Those with good "intel"caffeinate here.
google avatar

Sarah L.

Yelp
Great coffee and super nice staff! Came here on a Wednesday morning around 7:30am and it was not busy. I got the seasonal special pistachio rose latte with whole milk. The latte art was superb and the drink was great. The coffee was smooth and creamy with the whole milk. I could taste the rose and spice flavors distinctively but they weren't overpowering. The place was very clean with lots of small tables around. Service was fast too. The line started to pick up around 8am.
google avatar

Annie K.

Yelp
Omg same as when i came here almost 7 years ago! I got the iced vanilla latte slightly sweetened with almondmilk and the barista's choice coffee with some half and half and sweetener. Baristas very friendly and drinks came out quickly. Nice and cool inside with a busy buzz like most popular la places. Def worth stopping by for ur coffee needs!
google avatar

Trung D.

Yelp
Come here to try oat matcha latte, the taste was decent, but the barista rushed through the order and ruined the decoration, which left a bitter taste in my mouth (not the bitter taste of matcha, you understand).
google avatar

Yelp
There is a very nice live/work loft vibe to this place that works. I think that everyone seems to be working on something or at least working very hard to seem like that they are working on something. The people at the front are very knowledgable so please ask questions about the beverages. The food is above average but nothing to write home about. The croissant was on point but I expected that. The cinnamon roll was average. What I wanted to point out, and it the reason for the 5 stars, is the preparation of the tea. I have been a client of Teance, one of the best tea shops in the Bay Area, and I would argue, California. I have seen tea preparation done the right way in their shop. Intelligentsia prepares tea the right way. I asked for the Gui Fea Oolong tea. They took five minutes to actually put the tea leaves in the cup at the right temperature and slowly put the tea in the teapot. A dedicated staff had to do this in order to do this right. I respect the dedication. Not just put a tea bag in boiling water and call it a day. Respect your clients. Respect the product. Respect the tradition. So I enjoyed the tea and wanted to make sure that the effort is acknowledged. Also the service was very good. Not a hint of attitude in anyone I have interacted with.
google avatar

Eunice T.

Yelp
Smooth coffee! I like my coffee sweet, so I had to add in a pack of sugar (provided on the side table) to my iced latte since their default is a bit too bitter for me. Came during a weekday, and this place was definitely very busy at around 8am, but the line died down after 9:30am. Their internet speed is pretty fast once you get connected, but I had to wait for ~5 minutes before the connection starts working. You can order your drinks and food for dine in, but I noticed that most people just leave their trays on the table when they're done. The workers don't go around to collect the trays though, so it's very possible that you'll see an open seat with dirty cups/trays sitting there for a long period of time.

Tal A.

Yelp
So good!!! Great coffee. And goof vibes. Nice service. Love the location as well. Would recommend!
google avatar

Amanda T.

Yelp
Pretty disappointed in the coffee here. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and to my dismay, the latte was premade. I watched the barista pour vanilla syrup into a cup, then pulled a lever and out came a premade latte. They're charging the same price that other coffee shops charge who actually pull their espresso and make the lattes to order. Won't be coming back here.
google avatar

Theo W.

Yelp
Walked in on a Monday at 11am and asked for a cold brew. They said they were out of cold brew. A coffee shop out of cold brew coffee. At 11am. On a weekday. I think I have said enough.
google avatar

Emma L.

Yelp
Overall, the aesthetics are quite nice and the shop is located on a cute street in Venice. We ordered the matcha oat latte and the avena latte (a signature latte they have). The matcha oat is very standard tasting, not quite worth it for their price range. However, I did really enjoy the Avena latte! The subtle hints of orange peel, ginger, and cinnamon were all there but it still had a latte feel which was great! The cayenne pepper on top was not very spice so for those worried about that, it's a pretty cool kick to the flavor of the drink!
google avatar

Tristan N.

Yelp
Intelligentsia is by far my favorite café in LA. Not only is the coffee good, but the pastries are amazing (the croissant beats most croissants I've had France). It is also such a wonderful place to work from. They have fast wifi and outlets and tables for your laptop. They're dog friendly too so I always bring my dog. The service is always very fast and everyone there is so kind. I go almost twice a week and would go there more often if I didn't have to go into work!
google avatar

Sarah M.

Yelp
We got the black cat fizz and the avena latte. Absolutely delicious! The black cat fizz was so refreshing! I love a good sparking coffee drink, they are hard to find. To eat, we got a spinach and cheese croissant. It was stuffed with spinach and cheese, then coated in black pepper. If I lived near by, i would come here all the time as my daily coffee! Only thing is the inside seating is optimized for working. It would be a bad spot for a coffee date unless you're okay with sitting at the outside tables.
google avatar

Ryan R.

Yelp
Having tried quite a bit of Coffee in the Marina Del Rey area, I had been told that Intelligentsia was a place I should try. Unfortunately they did not have the Matcha Nitro on tap that people have talked about, but nonetheless it was great. The Matcha Latte had a great presentation and is definitely very earthy if you don't have sweetener added. I like it that way though! $7.50 for the Latte is a little steep but knowing how everything is pretty expensive now a days it is what it is! The person who served us was not the friendliest but oh well!
google avatar

Osvaldo O.

Yelp
Came here really looking forward to great coffee experience - unfortunately didn't get it. My SL-28 pour over took literally 15+ minutes partly because the Poursteady wasn't working. So the barista had to make it manually but kept walking away from repeatedly. Meanwhile the other baristas are eating and drinking their coffee over my pour over and in front of POS. Not only is it not professional but also unsanitary. I wish I could just leave this review for management because I hate being negative on this platform. But this was my personal experience and I hope not typical.

Eduardo A.

Yelp
Iced caramel latte: mix well, great tasting, good stop for a quick coffee drink at the to go window Breakfast bacon burrito: 6" burrito cut on half, thinner than a subway sandwich. Uses same potatoes that are given as a side with the sandwich. Salsa kicks the burrito up a notch. Bacon and egg sandwich: good size, especially with the side of potatoes. Surprisingly filling. Overall a good stop for a quick breakfast for Terminal 5. Great friendly service with suggestions, quick service, short lines.

Yelp
i come here on Saturday mornings to get my latte fix. their pastries are great and coffees ate phenomenal. service could be better. nice to chill and relax on their lounge outdoors or inside.

Yelp
The best cappuccino outside of Italy. Even while decaf and almond milk - that's how good. For real. Ham and cheese croissant is also tasty and comes from a local bakery.

Ryan R.

Yelp
This place is so cute and one of the best date spots in West LA! All of the specialty drinks are great!
google avatar

Jasmine G.

Yelp
Really great coffee, really terrible staff. I'd recommend mobile ordering. Ambiance: nice patio to sit and do work, lots of indoor and outdoor seating (also shaded) Coffee: great taste, many options to customize Food: mobile order it so you can see the menu and make your decision from there
google avatar

Melanie L.

Yelp
Loved the vibe and my chai tea was great. My friend's coffee drink was enjoyed by her and they made a cute heart on it as well. As a tea drinker, I never get cool designs so I appreciate the ones I see on coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating plus a restroom for the win.
google avatar

Mischa H.

Yelp
Nice vibe friendly staff, but I ordered a coffee with half and half and be half and half curdled terribly... I'm old enough to know when half and half is not right believe it or not it's not my first cup of coffee. Staff tries to tell me that it was because it was organic half and half. Only trouble was it didn't say that on the carton. They poured of the cup song which was nice and then they put the same thing because it was the same half and half. Ended up taking it black and going down to Greenleaf and picking another cup up. Just an off day for them but honestly if the customer says there's something wrong just getting new container
google avatar

Cindy S.

Yelp
Never have I ever experienced this before at any coffee shop. I was there on Tuesday afternoon and I ordered my usual chai latte. I don't know why but the barista that was making my drink kept throwing the shaker full of milk and ice in the air and doing flips with it. I was really scared that it was gonna open up mid air and splash everyone. It fell on the floor and got matcha all over my two chihuahuas. They were soggier than the sandwich I ordered. I've never felt more embarrassed to be a Venician in my life. 5/5 stars love this place!
google avatar

Betsy S.

Yelp
This is a cute little place in Venice Beach! I loved my iced coffee with almond milk and we also ordered a hot coffee. The pool here are very nice and it's also very adorable. Abbot Kinney has a lot of cute stores so this is one that we went into! Lots of benches here as well. You can also sit here and do work on your laptop if you wish! I love the circular area where the cashier is too!
google avatar

Yelp
First: amazing to find a coffee company that doesn't charge extra for plant based milks! I have a dairy allergy and am usually stuck shelling out an extra dollar. Second: Woke up groggy with a headache today, and even after food + water + hours of time, didn't feel any better. Went in here during my break, bought a cold coffee, and on top of being Delicious, I miraculously felt completely renewed. This was at 4:30, and it's now 1 AM, and I still feel like I have energy to spare without being wired whatsoever. I'm quite the coffee enthusiast, so that difference is palpable! Only half joking now: I don't know what that barista did with my drink, but whatever it was, it was brilliant! Thank you Intelligentsia.
google avatar

Yelp
Yasss. Five stars for Intelligentsia Coffee for filling me with caffeine and making me slightly more intelligent. This coffee shop is somewhat hidden in a back alley of Abbot Kinney. In the mornings you can just follow the long line of coffee-goers, but otherwise I'd look for the large horse mural. Intelligentsia crafts up a number of fancy concoctions, but I decided to stick with my go-to.. an iced matcha latte with oat milk. This matcha was tasty, slightly sweetened, and the perfect morning pick-me-up. Since I have no self control I also grabbed a chocolate croissant. Loved this flakey pastry and all its chocolatey goodness.
google avatar

Sherri M.

Yelp
tucked inside a cute alley, is dog friendly, and has good cortados. their packaged instant espresso is good too.
google avatar

Justine R.

Yelp
Overall, definitely an overpriced coffee shop on Abbott Kinney - however, the coffee there is very good and the mocha is incredible. If you're looking for a coffee to splurge on, I absolutely recommend the mocha. Intelligentsia in general is very much a trendy spot. It does have a good amount of places to sit and do work inside, and a few places to sit outside. Everyone that works there seems to be really friendly, and the ambiance allows for both chatting with friends and getting work done, with light background music and places to sit. They do have wifi as well.

Angie L.

Yelp
Sweet Baby Jesus they've finally introduced a bigger size! You can now get a 16 ounce latte. I'm in heaven. Thank you, Intelligentsia!
google avatar

Yelp
This location was the only place to help me and my daughter out in our time of need. We were turned away to use washrooms at multiple locations and this place was the only one to help us out. The staff were kind and friendly and I couldn't be more thankful. Thank you, from a dad in over his head that needed help. I wish you and your staff all the best!

Yelp
Best coffee in LA! I get their whole espresso beans and have the pleasure of enjoying it every day
