D.C.’s Essential Irish Pubs | Eater DC

"Owner Colm Dillon is a native of Ireland. He and Ciara Collins purchased the pub, which has been around since 1997, in 2004. Cottage pie and and an Irish breakfast fry are among the classic dishes at the bar nicknamed 4P’s. Sunday brunch also draws lots of post-mass crowds. Place catering orders for the big day by noon on Friday, March 15, with live music on the patio all day on Saturday, March 16. On Saint Patrick’s Day, “K’eggs” breakfast fare from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. is followed by three-course menus with reserved seatings from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with Irish favorites available in the bar and patio areas all day." - Tierney Plumb

The Dubliner Lives On as the Patriarch of D.C.’s Irish Pub Community - Eater DC

"Christy Hughes immigrated the U.S. on March 8, 1974 — coincidentally the same day The Dubliner opened its doors to the public — and became the restaurant’s first-ever general manager soon after. He now owns the Irish Inn at Glen Echo and Lahinch Tavern and Grill in Potomac, Md., and also opened Ireland’s Four Provinces in Falls Church before selling it to yet another Dubliner alum." - Dayana Sarkisova

Visited Ireland’s Four Provinces only a few days after Saint Patrick’s Day and it was still packed with people celebrating! The decor was great and really upped the ambiance compared to when I went there in the summer. The menu has a lot of variety from American classics, Irish fare, tacos, burgers and specials. Normally, I’m wary of a place with too large of a menu, so I decided to stick to the Irish food. I ordered the beef stew and my friend ordered the bangers and mash. The beef stew was cooked in Guinness which gave it a delicious and hearty flavor that I was not used to. I thought the mashed potatoes in the center could have been a bit more creamy, but that’s just personal preference. The Irish sausages had a great snap and flavor that I wasn’t familiar with. We were provided with soda bread, two pieces with raisins and two pieces without. It came with some of those packets of diner butter, it would have been better with some rich Irish butter. I would recommend coming here and trying something you’ve never had before, it’s a good experience.

The hostesses, Kiera (wife of the owner) and Blanca, were great! We walked in at 5pm on 16 March and they told us they had nothing other than the bar before 7:30pm - after all, it was Sunday and the day before St. Patrick’s Day. After seeing nothing at bar, we left. They chased us down a minute later to tell us they had a last second opening. Our waitress Justine, who was new, was very sweet. The busboys were super hard-working - hustling nonstop. The staff, a very good Reuben & fries ($18), and the BEST Fish n‘ Chips I have ever had ($22, very lightly breaded, large portions) made this a great experience. Our drinks were on our table 5 minutes after we ordered them and our dinners were there 15 minutes afterwards - very efficient kitchen.

Google
An informal irish/american restaurant with lots of character. They have a good menu, nice brunch and some irish dishes to please everyone. Not to many Gluten free options. We had the Steak and eggs from the brunch menu, which was ok, just because it lacked flavor and I asked for medium, but it was almost well done. Excellent service. Very clean. They have music Friday and Saturday.

Google
Huge location, great food, great drinks. They had live music that wasn't Irish but it was still pleasant. Food was fast and very tasty. The drinks were fresh and didn't take long at all. Our server was very attentive, checking on us for more drinks and making recommendations for what to order. Lots of parking in the garage around the corner. Highly recommend, it's on my list of favorites when visiting DC.

If you are looking for a really nice Irish pub in Virginia with delicious freshly pulled Guinness and typical Irish food, then this is the place for you.

Google
First-time visit - we were impressed. Delicious food, great Irish-themed atmosphere. Service super slow at 1400 on Saturday. Not crowded. Hopefully that's a one-off, liked the food and atmosphere so much will be back to give them another shot.

We recently held a celebration of life for our cousin, Cathie, at **Ireland’s Four Provinces**, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the staff was incredibly accommodating, ensuring that everything ran smoothly on such an important day for our family. The private space provided was perfect—intimate yet spacious enough for everyone to gather comfortably. The food was outstanding, with every dish reflecting the warmth and quality that make this restaurant so special. A special thank you to the owner, who was not only attentive but genuinely invested in making sure our gathering was handled with care and respect. His presence and hospitality did not go unnoticed, and we are truly grateful. If you’re looking for a welcoming place with excellent service and authentic Irish fare, Four P's is a wonderful choice. We deeply appreciate their role in helping us honor Cathie’s memory in such a meaningful way.

Google
- food was good, the Ruben was extremely flavorful that my girl had. The chick tullamore I got was good for the most part but the chicken was a bit dry. - the bread they give you was a bit weird and kinda hard I know it's how it's supposed to be but still not that great to my taste. - have a nice selection of items on the menu. - inside is nice and quiet when we went, the outside is super nice and comfortable looking. Definitely would recommend outside seating when the weather is nice. - staff were a mix, some really friendly and others didn't have much of a personality. - service was a bit off it seemed like when we went but still not the worst we've experienced. - places was clean and organized. - prices normal for the area. - parking is good as long as they are not over the top busy. - overall not a bad first experience at this location.

Yelp
I've come here a few times over the years and it just keeps getting better. My most recent trip had me surprised with how many new menu items they added which were fantastic. This spot was pretty busy for a Friday early dinner and I sat at the bar ordering to go. The bartender is super friendly and quick when it came to getting my order. I went with a jalapeño burger with tots and potato skins. They have some of the best potato skins around and they really load them up. The new burger was fantastic - even though I was full I was committed to finishing it. The jalapeños were large and the meat quality was fantastic. Over the years we've enjoyed the sliders, the potato soup, the chicken tenders, etc. Great service and quality food!

Yelp
Pros -chili nachos were incredible! -bread pudding was delicious -quick, friendly service -beautiful outdoor seating -Guinness -orange crush cocktail Room for Improvement -always bring extra napkins with the chili nachos--they're very needed -onion rings lacked flavor -apple pie was missing a top crust and the ice cream that came with it tasted old/freezer burnt -frozen drink of the week was more than 50% ice

Yelp
We had our mothers celebration of life at 4P's sat march 23,2024. Colm the owner is a wonerful person. he sat with us , explained menu items and seating arrangements, and gave us ideas to help make the day go smooth. The staff were amazing, every detail, even down to placing our programs and blessing cards at each table. THE FOOD !! Every meal was perfection. From Sheppards pie to the Salmon delicious, then add the Belgian choc mouse or bread pudding. so much food and all of it was, fresh and served all at the same time. We can not thank Colm and his staff for taking the pressure off of us and treating us like we were part of the family. no extra charge for running over our original time. THANK YOU IRELANDS FOUR PROVINCE FOR MAKING OUR MOTHERS CELEBRATION PERFECT we will definitely return

Yelp
Do not come here. Food was bland and horrible, drinks were watered down. The ambience is very old and it doesn't make sense this is an Irish establishment. The service was at least good, I would not come back here

Yelp
This place is a classic but original Irish pub. It's been around for years and know at one time they would be staffed by people from Ireland doing a stay in the area. No idea about that anymore and maybe someone knows more facts! The ambiance is fantastic- comfortable and welcoming to all including families. People generally socialize and visit. The menu is full of the traditional fare and salads and sandwiches/burgers. I've had many and it's always been well done. This visit was the traditional Reuben sandwich- delicious ! The corned beef is cooked perfectly and served with 2 types of mustards that go so well. The fries are delicious but nothing unusual or different- steak fries. Service is really great - very friendly and attentive. Enjoyed the experience- both dining room and bar seating is offered.

Yelp
4P has a great patio with an open air bar. We enjoyed a wonderful meal while watching the hustle and bustle of Falls Church pass by. There is a great selection of traditional Irish fare as well as other American cuisine on the menu. We have dinned here twice now and have enjoyed everything. We are looking forward to a return trip to DC and when we do, we'll be back. Great food with wonderful service in a great location.

Yelp
A really nice Irish pub on Main Street Falls Church. A large establishment separated about one quarter pub square foot and three quarters restaurant square foot suitable for family groups but note sometimes live music in restaurant space. Parking out back and enter through back door. Attentive staff and managers. Try the Irish sausage appetizers and as a main the traditional dinner but the quesadillas here are fresh and delicious. I get the quesadillas!

Yelp
Fish and chips not bad, would order again. Servers do have Irish accents and it was nice to get to talk them about family heritage. The hospitality is very attentive, and you definitely feel important and valued as a patron here. Otherwise when not taking your order or checking in on you, they kinda leave you to your thoughts and the bar music, which is much appreciated. You get a lot of reflective sea-side type thoughts when eating at a place like this. Will go back when I'm old enough to order a beer on service alone this place could get five stars.

Yelp
4P's has been my favorite Irish pub for many years since being stationed to the area many years ago. A family friendly pub, like "Cheers" they remember you and welcome you with open arms. Post-COVID, the menu has expanded and the awesome Guinness burger is available all the time (it used to be available only during the weekend). Try it, and you too will be addicted. In addition to the burger, the Irish stew, corned beef & cabbage, Reuben are ALL awesome. In addition to the food, 4P's also serve a great selection of adult beverages. Check it out and you too will be a fan.

Yelp
We've been coming here for decades and it's still a gem. Falls Church has seen a lot of restaurants come and go, but the 4Ps remains. Last night was crispy Chicken Sandwich, Falls Church Burger and Chicken Tacos with a draft amber ale and the special limoncello cake for dessert. All were excellent. Graham was our server and he was friendly, quick and attentive. The manager came by and asked how we were doing. I love the ambiance. Just the right mix of background music, seating and curtains to allow easy conversation. The bar has TV's and amble seating. We'll be back.

Yelp
Drinks came quickly, then service was slow. Fish and chips were soggy, greasy, and tasteless; the meal came with a tablespoon of bland cole slaw and lots of fries. Shepherd's Pie looked grayish (nothing green in sight) and also had no taste. We won't go back.

Yelp
I had the Irish fry's and curry, it was delicious. Beers are an abundance of options. Great food delicious, great service. Go check them out !!

Yelp
Had the most amazing brunch at Ireland Four Province! The food was absolutely delicious and the holiday decorations made the whole place feel so festive and cozy. I've been a loyal customer for years and I can't get enough of their Shepherd's Pie, it's simply mouthwatering! My hubby tried the Smoked Salmon Benedict and it was cooked to perfection, he loved every bite. But what really made our experience even better was the friendly and welcoming service from our waitress. ‍ Can't wait to go back for more amazing food and great vibes! #IrelandFourProvince #BrunchGoals #DeliciousFood #FriendlyService

Yelp
I've been here many times over the years, usually just at the bar, twice with the family in the dining room. The fam is going to Ireland this summer, and we just left a kids sporting event in Falls Church, so I recommend we stop for dinner here to gear the crew up for Ireland. Well my wife was already dreading the food in Ireland, and this solidified it for her. The soups were fine, a little bland but creamy and good. The entrees whew. 4 entrees and one was worse than the other. Although my son said his burger was fine, it was over cooked for the medium rare he asked for. My Bangers and mash were cooked for two days then sloped on my plate. The Mac and Steak that my wife ordered was nothing like the menu description. Unfortunate, but I will not give up on this place for one bad event. The live music was enjoyable, l can only hope Sunday was an anomaly, as I always like stopping here when I'm in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Food was lukewarm.... Steak was raw When trying to talk to manager he was extremely rude. Avoid if possible

Yelp
I had a "celebration of life" event for my late husband there and I could not have been happier with the service and support we got. They were conscientious about having the tv volumes down when we were giving a short speech, immediately corrected a problem when another group mistakenly ate some of our food, and were attentive and gave great service. Ken was great, and I'd absolutely have another event here.

Yelp
This review is about the restaurant and not about the bar. My wife is half Irish and I thought I'd take her to an authentic Irish restaurant. The majority of Yelp reviews said the food was great. A minority said it was not great. The minority was right. We ordered traditional Irish dishes. We tried the Shepherd's Pie and the Beef Stew. We also got a Mustang Sally Amber lager.    They gave us a complimentary basket of Irish bread. It had Irish soda bread with raisins and Irish brown bread. The brown bread had a nutty flavor and was slightly salty. It was relatively soft and slightly dense with a coarse texture like it was made with stoneground flour. The crust was hard. It was good if you like salty bread. Eating it with the beef stew worked well.    The soda bread was moist and slightly sweet. It had the flavor of a biscuit. The raisins were a good addition. The crust was thick, hard and chewy. The interior was soft.    The Shepherd's pie had ground beef, peas, carrots, and onions topped with mashed potatoes. The layer of mashed potatoes on top was thin. There was no sauce in the beef mixture below. It was like they cooked the ingredients and put them in the dish plain. It needed sauce. The whole dish tasted rather bland.    The beef stew had cubed beef, carrots, onions, celery and mashed potatoes in a Guinness sauce. The Guinness sauce tasted like simple beef broth thickened. Where's the Guinness? It made the dish plain tasting and lacking in savoriness.    The Mustang Sally Amber lager tasted similar to Killians Irish Red. It is a Vienna-style amber lager. A balanced, full-bodied, malty lager with a toasty finish. This was the best part of the meal.    The dining room had a good ambiance in a traditional sense. Lots of wood and warm brown colors. It had a comfortable atmosphere. The restrooms were small and relatively clean. There was a long bar in a separate room with plenty of seating around the bar. They had lots of tables and chairs outside. The service in the dining room was minimal. All of the servers were in the bar area. It took a long time before a server would come into the dining room. This looks like a great place to drink and hang out. Unfortunately, the restaurant serves bar quality food (no offense meant to bars with actual good food). Hopefully, their head cook can improve the flavor of their food before they get a bad reputation. Until then, we'll be checking out other places for good authentic Irish food.

Yelp
The best food, the best staff, the best atmosphere. Outdoor bar with live music in the warmer weather. Cozy inside seating area with a fireplace. The bar inside is perfect if you're looking to catch a hockey game and grab a good meal. I have been coming here for years. One thing I always tell people: your food can be dipped in gold, but if you don't have great management and staff, it doesn't matter how good the food is. This place checks all the boxes for me and has it all! Shout out to my 4Ps family for the excellent Thanksgiving Day buffet, I enjoy it every year!

Yelp
Great Irish pub fare and service. Decor is a little outdated but for an Irish pub it works! My go to for a Reuben and Guinness no doubt.

Yelp
Wife and I were in the area at VA hospital just down the street and wanted some lunch. We went on Yelp as always when looking for food and came across this restaurant. We sat at the bar as we do a lot it gives us a chance to talk to other people and find out about other things in the area where we are. The bartender had kind of a Irish accent, I asked about the Shepards pie and the fish and chips she said they were both good the wife asked about the corned beef so we ended up getting the fish and corned beef and cabbage. The wife's food came out looking really good the meat was very tender and the veggies had just the rite amount of crunch not over soft. My fish the first piece I cut in was mushy I cut anther and it was the same my last piece was ok it looked like it was cooked longer. The waitress came over and took the pieces and brought me out 2 more cooked much longer, the one was on but the other one the fish was still very mushy. Maybe it was sitting in water too long or it didn't drain very well. Over all we will give it a try again just try different food for me.

Yelp
Excellent pub fare. The beer and whiskey is plentiful and always flowing. Service is excellent with dinner and bar service progressing smoothly. The décor is authentically Irish.

Yelp
Food and cocktails were decent. Friday night entertainment was awesome and the restaurant had a good vibe. Only negative as was the service. Wait staff all but disappeared after seating us. Had to keep waving them down throughout the evening as they never voluntarily stopped by our table. We had to ask for everything, ice water, a fork, some bread....basic stuff they should bring and you shouldn't have to ask for. Otherwise, it was fun place. Would go again and hope for better service.

Yelp
Decided to come here after a friend's recommendation and the food to me was decent. We ordered the onion rings, Ruben sandwich, and of course Fish & chips. The onion rings were typical onions rings and the sandwich and fish & chips were alright... We also got free bread at our table, however i did not enjoy the bread at all. I'm not sure what kind they were but they were cold and hard.. maybe it's suppose to be?? The location of this place is great and has awesome outdoor seating! There's tons of shops nearby to walk around after eating. Our waitress did a great job being covid cautious. I am rating this a 3 as i was not too impressed with this place. The food is a little pricey and the quality was not that great for the price. I do think this would be a great spot to grab drinks with friends after work but again not too impress with the food here.

Yelp
Five star food, service and ambiance. As an Irish expat I come here when I want the taste and feel of home. The quality is unparalleled in the DMV. Authentic food, that's fresh and high quality every time. The entire team from food runners to front of house is about guest experience. 10/10 would recommend. For food try the chicken tullamore, steak Mac n cheese or the bangers and mash. Fantastic drinks, beer wine and cocktails.

Yelp
Seriously amazing! I loved this pub, the service, the atmosphere, everything. My fiancé ordered the fish and chips and said they were incredible. We were so grateful for the extra touch when they brought both of us a green Jell-O shot with a candle to celebrate his birthday! Absolutely kicked his day off with a bang! AND their cider on tap is vegan, so even better!! 100% will be coming back!

Yelp
No Lunch. No sale. This place has a lunch menu, but doesn't open until 2pm. Why? We went iacross the street to Dogwood. It was fine.

Barry S.

Yelp
Wonderful food! Fish & chips, shepherd's pie, Appetizers and entrees are always good. I go for the food - but they have an extensive bar as well! Always satisfies.

Yelp
This was my first restaurant that I finally got to eat at after the opening of Phase I! It really makes you appreciate the little things. I ordered the salmon for lunch and the boyfriend ordered the Reuben sandwich. Quick easy lunch that was satisfying and done really well. My salmon was scored on the edges which make it crispy while the middle was perfectly flaky and moist. The creamy sauce on it made it that much better. Mashed potatoes and vegetables were decent enough, although the star was definitely how well prepared the salmon was. The sandwich was a simple classic but also done well. I'm glad things are slowly turning normal again. I miss eating with at restaurants and I'm glad places like these have plenty of patio space. We'll be back for sure.

Yelp
Great place for casual lunch or dinner and Irish fare. We had a party of 9 people, and although the kitchen closes at 9pm and we arrived 10 minutes before, they allowed us in and order quickly. Really appreciated their hospitality and service from that and the way they treated us the rest of the night - and the food quality was good too! A lot of my friends ordered the Shepherd's pie, which was reported to be very good. Very soft (I've heard that they can be crunchy versions), and everyone was very satisfied with their dishes. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and that dish blew me away - the chicken was really juicy and tender, with a very crunchy exterior. The fries were okay, generic shoestring, perhaps a bit fatter. A great dinner and it was really nice there was a local group practicing Irish folk music (fiddling and all!) It was nice to appreciate the live music and also see people enjoying the local spot.

Yelp
The problem with memories, they are never good as you remember. We have not been there since pre-covid, we came back and ordered our favorite Chicken Tulamore. What a disappointment. No taste, piled on mash potatoes from an ice cream scoop. We piled on the salt with no improvement. It was a busy night preparing for St Patrick's day. When I asked the waiter if there had been a change in chefs he said no. To his credit he brought us a dessert, but what a disappointment

Yelp
The service was fantastic. I'll definitely be back for another Guinness! The bar area has some cool Christmas lights .

Yelp
First time visiting tonight, and the staff were really off their game beyond the fact that it appears they're short staffed due to Covid/economy. Within minutes after being seated, we realized we were not given a beer and wine menu. Our waiter was not near us, so I intended to ask a busboy with a beard close by if he could grab us a menu, but when I called for him and before I got the question out of my mouth, he barked in a loud tone and said "You need to ask your waiter," and immediately turned his back and walked away. This sounds dramatic, because it was. Maybe busboys aren't paid to help customers directly? The waiter we had this evening was not even a week on the job, a nice young kid, so we have to give him a lot of slack and we were very patient with him, but boy were we part customers/part waiter trainers to him that evening. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks, another 45 minutes to get our meal, and the appetizers were brought at the same time during our meal. One older waiter came to our table early on and said she'd "keep a close eye" on him but that never appeared to have happened. Again, can't blame the kid for learning, but there was no management to help back him up. Food is what gives this review a second star. The bangers and mash were really great and filling, but the Shepards pie was essentially a pile of wet ground beef with some mashed potatoes on top, and the tilapia and shrimp dish came straight out of a dehydrator. I'm all for some homemade beef jerky, but doesn't work the same with fish. I hope to give this place a second chance one day, but definitely need to shake off and try to forget this poor experience. I will probably just stick to drinks next time.

Yelp
My family and I have been coming to Ireland's Four Provinces ever since it opened. I used to play bagpipes there as a kid (yes, I play the Scottish Highland Bagpipes!). They have homey Irish food and British pub food as well-- bangers and mash, fish and chips, etc. They have great beers as well, including imports you can't easily order at bars, like Boddington's. And the atmosphere is just right for an Irish pub. It's a great hangout.

Douglas S.

Yelp
This is what you want in an Irish Pub as it is not overwhelmed with Video Monitors trying to attract pockets of supporters that attempt to out root one team or other. Think Class and Civilized with a great kitchen. The "expected Irish meals" are proper and well worth a try. But well done to the kitchen and how it prepares seafood lightly sauced allows the entre to shine. The mixologist are stars in the socializing and Adult Beverage Delivery. You will be Happy Here, The Dillon's will see to that-Slainte

Dennis F.

Yelp
Ireland's Four Provinces has a limited menu and scheduled seating on St. Patrick's day. The menu consists of a choice of soup or salad, one of six or so entrees, including shepherds pie, fish and chips, etc., and a nice little cupcake for dessert. My beef stew was tasty, although the vegetable portion consisted solely of two very small carrot slices. My dinner partner had the salmon and advised that it was very good. We had Guinnesses to drink; there was no drink menu. The atmosphere was pleasant enough, with live music, a guitarist singing Irish numbers. Of note, the price for the meal was not mentioned on the website, or indeed, on the menu. When we were presented with the bill, we found it to be $49, which was a bit overpriced; it was worth maybe $30-35.

Brandon A.

Yelp
Manager made my first drink. Regulars were great, the one i met. The bartender, Lindsey was a total B seemed annoyed she had to do her job. Being from ireland i was very disappointed they think this is an irish pub

Andrea B.

Yelp
Originally left a 4 star review in 2016 and used to go there fairly regularly. Just went tonight for the first time in a few months and will not go back for a long time. Went for $7 Monday night burger night advertised on their Facebook page and on the menus handed to us when we sat down. We were informed by our waiter that this was a new menu that was just rolled out and the "kitchen was not used to it yet"; we would not be able to order the Monday night special. However, the kitchen seemed to have no problem cooking any regular-priced burger that we ended up ordering. The wings were about three seconds away from non-edible as they were fried deep brown. The kids meal which was supposed to come with a drink resulted in a surprise $2.95 charge for an apple juice on the bill. Guess we should have ordered soda for our 6 yr old. All in all, we spent $50 for one burger, one order of eight wings, a kids meal, and two beers. Not even complaining about the price, but we feel completely cheated (burger night special, kids meal). In combination with the low quality of food received, we will look for other bars to make our go-to place. $50 for two adults and a young kid still gives us plenty of options in walking distance.

Yelp
Ireland's Four Provinces is a true gem when it comes to hospitality, quality of food and service. I am not a Falls Church resident, nor do I even live in Virginia, yet I cannot count how many times my family and I have frequented this fine establishment while visiting distant family in the area. The owner Collum (hopefully I am spelling this correctly) has treated us like family ever since we stumbled upon the 4 P's when seeking a place to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. That being said, I must assert that this review is no favor to the owner. Ireland's Four Provinces is serving up authentic Irish fare and caters to diners of all ages. A large bar area with two entrances is where you will find the host/hostess stand. The bar area contains a wealth of seating options as well as several TVs if you're looking to catch the televised sporting events. The atmosphere is casual but I would honestly consider it family friendly, and even romantic, depending on your attire. Service is phenomenal. Regardless of whether we come in with a party of 5 or 15, they always staff enough servers to our table and enable us to get the most out of our dining experience. A bonus for the Irish patrons - most of the staff hail directly from Ireland (an aspect of Irish bars that I have not seen since I left NYC). It isn't surprising that Ireland's 4 P's menu contains all of the authentic Irish fare (Fish & Chips, Bangers & Mash & Cottage Pie are popular choices amongst my family). However, if you're not feeling the traditional Irish fare, their menu includes tons of entrees that will satisfy almost any appetite. For the first time ever, I ordered the buffalo wings and all of the men at my table LOVED them. They also gobbled down two plates of deviled eggs which I didn't get to try because they were gone before I could! For my entree, I went with the steak and mac & cheese, recommended by a fellow Yelper, and after seeing the accompanying picture, who wouldn't!? Just one word to the steak eaters, these chefs are cooking TRULY to order - so I would adjust your meat temperature up one level. I normally order steak "medium rare" but after receiving the dish, I knew that medium was more of what I was looking for. It honestly reminded me of being back in Europe! In a nutshell, Ireland's Four Provinces is one of the few successful, independently run restaurants left in a country in which big business dominates. I hope to visit Ireland's 4 P's each time I find myself in the Northern VA area for many years to come, and I implore you to do the same. While I don't believe that one could be disappointed here, I know that the management and service staff always do their best to accommodate their patron's needs - big OR small. Cheers!

Yelp
We came to the 4 provinces with our dog because they have a large outdoor patio area. I expected that they would seat us in the patio area like most restaurants with outdoor space. However they are not dog friendly at all. They said the dog had to be attached to the fence on the outer perimeter of the patio. This would mean the dog would be next to people walking by, and some people might not like that. We left. Not coming back.

Yelp
Still a good place. Nice fish and chips. Standard shepherd's pie, bangers and mash. Soda bread is good. Prices have gone up and portions are small. Bread pudding is good and so is the sauce. Nice selection of beers. Good but not great. Come here if you are in the area.

Yelp
We were a large group 35+ people. One waitress for whole party. My food came first and waited about 20 minutes for my fiancés to show up. Food was ok, nothing to write home about.

Yelp
We came here for a late brunch on Saturday! We were so happy brunch is served until late in the afternoon, which made me super happy! There is ample outdoor seating and the hostess was super friendly. There's live music during the week, but not when we went. I ordered the chicken and waffles! The chicken was cooked to perfection and I loved the breading. I hate when there is as much breading as their is chicken and I4P had the best breading (I imagine it's amazing on the fish and chips!). The breading was light, but perfectly crunchy and tasty. The waffle, unfortunately, was really dry and fell apart very easy. I had to ask for more syrup since it came with a tiny packet. The skillet was incredible - super flavorful. I liked that the potato's had a good texture, not overly soggy like some skillets. The eggs were perfectly cooked and sausage had a wonderful flavor. Next time I am in GF I will be back for more!

Yelp
We used to love this restaurant but the last time we went the salmon was burned and dry. Plus they don't allow dogs on their patio and Dogwood Tavern does so that is where we go now.

Yelp
When your website has a menu with $7 burgers on Monday night and when you arrive and your menu says there is a burger for $7. . . You would expect that you could order a burger for $7. After we ordered drinks and an appetizer we we informed the $7 burgers were no longer available. But we could get the same burger for $13. Can anyone say bait and switch. I got the fish and chips and it was poor. The family (3 others) got the burgers. The daughter is sick right now not blaming the burger. . . Just stating the facts. Checked out with a $110 bill for a few burgers a two drinks. Won't be back. I never do business with people who don't keep their word. The proper way to handle this would be to say. . . Yep. That's what the menu says - and honor the price.

Yelp
Visited for the first (but definitely not last!) time today, with a group of friends, for Sunday brunch. Cutting to the chase: the ham & cheese omelet was the best I've had in a long, long, time--and the homefries were TDF! My buddy sitting next to me thought the fish and chips dish was great. But, I'm not going to believe him--I'm looking forward to trying it myself, and SOON.

Yelp
My Mediterranean omelette was awful! I had it in the past and it was good, not now. Not sure if I'll go back.

Yelp
The outdoor seating area is nice and the service was super good. The waiter was super nice. Drinks were tasty and I liked the Irish beer. The food was average tho. The kids menu is very nice with $5 and quality food.

Yelp
Originally visited the place because my boyfriends father used to work here years ago. Not really what it used to be. We ordered a few different items: Baked Brie (4 of 5), Mussels (3 of 5), Wings (2 of 5), Clam Chowder (5 of 5) and Fish & Chips (4 of 5). Food: (3 of 5) Most of the food was okay but other than the clam chowder, nothing would really draw us back to this establishment. Both the Wings and the Fish and Chips were really oily. That clam chowder though, if you do visit, is a must. The chowder itself was not too thick but was (the good kind) of chunky, lump clam meat! Service: (4 of 5) Everyone was friendly and our server was great, however I don't recall his name but do remember he is new and a teacher! The General Manager (who remembered my boyfriends father was still there!) which says a lot. He seemed very proud of the place rightfully so. It's refreshing to see someone excited about their job and greeting all of their return customers. Atmosphere: (2 of 5) This is obviously more opinion based but not my cup of tea. It felt pretty lackluster and dark/depressing. But again this is just opinion based and does not impact my overall score. Was decent but will not be racing to return. If anything, will return just for the clam chowder!

Yelp
I really enjoyed Four Provinces' wings. Battered and fried wings have become something of a rarity at restaurants, and most of the time they're not very good. These wings were very good, I would probably come here again just for them. Fish and chips weren't anything special but they weren't bad. The fish needs to have some salt and pepper pounded in before the batter goes on. I drowned those things in malt vinegar and they were still pretty bland.

Yelp
This is a staple of Falls Church. I love their Bangers and Mash but really almost anything off the menus is great. This place will give you Cheers vibes as many patrons are regulars and know one another.
