Where To Get A Drink Near Your FiDi/SoMa BART Stop

"Despite the name, this is more a sports bar than an Irish pub. There are TVs inside and outside, so if it’s a nice day, you can split a pitcher at a sidewalk table while watching an afternoon baseball game. And they have standard bar food (like wings) to spoil your dinner." - will kamensky

12 Best St. Patrick’s Day Destinations in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Come for the pints, stay for the Irish poutine (french fries with cheddar cheese and Irish curry) and the lively bar scene. There’s outdoor seating for when the weather’s nice, or when the St. Patrick’s Day melee spills onto the street." - Paolo Bicchieri

27 Spots to Watch Premier League Matches With a Pint in Hand All Season Long | Eater

"Located in San Francisco’s Financial District, early bird first-calls will be served at this sports bar, too. With 10 TVs to play the games, there’s no bad seat in the house. Personally, we think the Irish poutine with a classic curry sauce, aged cheddar, and spring onions atop a bed of garlic and parsley fries is the best companion for your glass of Guinness, since the beer’s barley notes and slight bitterness play nicely with the richness of the cheese." - Perri Ormont Blumberg

Google
Awesome vibe. Great happy hour. We tried to find best happy hour in that area, and we think Irish Time is the best. Dog friendly. Love it. The most amazing part is watching the bartender take care of the whole bar by her own self. We were amazed by how attentive she is.

Yuta Higuchi

Google
Had great fish and chips and Guinness. They seem to have relaxed policy about bringing in dogs inside the bar, if you’re worried about those things.

Stefan Bremkens

Google
Very solid Irish bar - as you would expect it to be. Loud, busy and crowded. Service is attentive and has a sarcastic note to it - as it should be in a place like this. I was surprised by the variety of cocktails with an Irish twist e.g. the Irish mule. They had live music one night when I was there, made it even more Irish ;) . Overall good recommendation for a sports bar & grill.

Google
very good vibe with great food. Sometime they are short staffed, but the staff that were there are very nice and helpful.

Erik Meghnagi

Google
Lively pub with excellent pub food. Note: they no longer have a Ruben sandwich on their menu! Lucked out and got the last available table 45 minutes before the end of happy hour. Their fish bits are a sold 5 stars!

Google
Great service, great beers, and I think the buffalo wings actually brought my brother back to life after finishing the San Francisco marathon. A nice street to sit outside on as well.

Google
This is my favorite bar in the city. They are very friendly and provide great service. The food is a huge bonus with great quality and ingredients compared to most pubs. The new owner, Jack, is a great guy who clearly cares about the quality of ingredients/drinks as well as the customer experience. Special shout out to Mel for being the sweetest bartender ever, and to John and Lorraine for having great energy. The whole crew seem to be on the same page about making sure that everything is the best it can be, even when the place is packed. Can't recommend this place enough, especially for the industry crowd (be sure to let them know if you are)! This is really a place to come, get a warm welcome from your favorite bartenders, and feel at home.

Was wandering around San Francisco and was in the mood for some Fish and Chips and these did not disappoint! Very good and the mushy peas were delicious! (I normally hate them!)

Yelp
We stopped in on our travels to the city and it was great! Had nachos as a snack and a couple beers! Service was good, food quality good and atmosphere good. Will definitely stop in again!

Yelp
First of all, why am I at a bar at 2pm on a Tuesday? Let that sink in. Can't really fault much here. Found just was I was looking for: an Irish Pub. It's properly dim, although not much natural light could penetrate the skyscrapers surrounding this cave. There is a mixed crowd pinned to a football (soccer) match between LIV and PSG, whoever the fudge they are. Liverpool and...Persnickety Soccer Guys, I guess. Soccer on 6 of the 8 tvs in this joint. The remaining 2 tvs are NBA analysis blah blah blah. The single bartender is working the entire establishment while doing prep for the evening shift. That's standard. There are 3 females in the bar, including the bartender, and one male/female couple. Why am I describing the mundane details of what is practically every bar in America at 2pm? Because I'm at a bar. And it's 2pm. Maybe you should ask yourself why you're still reading this. Huh? Yeah, I thought so. This is my way of contributing to, um, America? You are welcome, America. You can thank me in beer. I'll take a raincheck, I got a ferry to catch. That's a boat, in case you're listening to my audio-only review, available at most nowheres.

Yelp
Such a great place! The spirit and camaraderie from the guests, and the ambiance from the staff make you want to come back over and over again. Special shout out to Mel, for going above and beyond, and for making me feel more than welcome!

Yelp
Went for a work event. Staff is incredibly kind and hard working, despite us being quite loud and boisterous. Food and drinks are great, had a Long Island Iced Tea. My friends notably enjoyed the Scooby Snacks and the Adios, MF.

Yelp
Legit Irish pub, but with a lot of TV screens for sports broadcasts. There was a 49ers game the day we stopped by and lots of patrons wearing SF gear, so I guess it's popular on game day. Not cheap though. A Guinness and a shot of Red Breast is $26 before tip. Even by SF standards this seems too high.

Yelp
Went during Happy hour on a Friday night. I was charged an extra dollar than what the nachos with chicken was advertised for. No big deal. The nachos were gross, so that sucked. I don't drink so can't comment on that.
google avatar

Yelp
The Guinness on tap a top notch, the food a good, and the service is great! John, one of the bartenders, is great! We love talking with him while enjoying the atmosphere!!!

Yelp
I asked for a pickle...and was told to ask the kitchen for it... my original post was not happy but since I got a free beer I can't be too upset.

Yelp
The Irish bar is very crowded inside, old fashioned decorations and elements for the holiday seasons. I've tried the tequila shot there, and it was very ordinary.

Seini M.

Yelp
Food was amazing, highly recommend the wings and shepherds pie. Our bartender Neil was also very attentive and very kind. Should absolutely come here

Kristie C.

Yelp
Best fish & chips in SF. Perfectly battered haddock & generous portion of fries. I've recently traveled to London, where the fish & chips were superb. It's a toss up as to which are better. Beats a round trip flight to London!

Yelp
Had to walk a long way to get here, but felt lucky to have had a referral from another bar nearby, but at 10 on a sunday morning (actually we needed one at 10, but this worked as well) there aren't a lot of options in the financial district. Irish Times filled the need, and is worth a stop. Very down to earth, basic bar with not too many teevees for sports (i have a nasty case of ADHD and it can cause me problems when I'm drinking). Breakfast, not to say specifically "Irish Breakfast" for me was a very satisfying pour of Guinness, and another then on to a more nutritious Greyhound or two. I'll be back.

Yelp
Ended up going to Irish Times while in the area. Bit cramped, but service is friendly and gave us the attention we needed throughout the madness. Food is good too, and they have a great beer selection on tap!

Yelp
I used to really love this pls e, but not after the last time I was there. I had a table of three and the bill totaled $200. I realized later that a whopping $40.00 gratuity was added to my bill. If you go there I advise you bring cash so you can choose what tip you want to give.

Yelp
I was at Irish times with a group on Monday for the college final four. The bartender was all alone behind the bar with a mob. Gotta say the dude was on fire. Did an excellent job keeping up with kitchen, orders, drinks and tabs. Give the dude a raise

Yelp
As I was waiting for a friend for a little after work dinner, I saw Irish times next door to the restaurant and decided to stop in for some pre-game drinks. Luckily it was happy hour and it's hard to pass up on a good deal. For those looking for happy hour, they offer it Monday-Friday from 2-6pm. They had select draft beer and win for $6, bottled beer for $4, select shots for $6, select cocktails for $7, and a handful of small bites for $6! Honestly one of the best happy hour prices in the neighborhood. I ordered a couple anchor steam beers and went with Buffalo chicken strips. It kinda reminded of me chicken cutlets, cut up into pieces, and drenched with Buffalo sauce. Personally if I had a side of rice I could've turned that into a full meal! Not the best I've ever had but good value and fit the craving. The ambiance is great for my style! Lots of TVs with sports on, friendly atmosphere and plenty of seating for small and large groups. Service at the bar was quick and prompt and I was able to get a quick bite and beer just in time for my reservation next door. Definitely will be back and will be in the rotation for happy hours when visiting the office.

Yelp
I've been to Irish Times no less than 5 times when visiting SF. The full Irish Breakfast is truly exceptional fare! The Guinness is always delicious and the bar well stocked. Plenty of local characters and visitors in a very comfortable space. Again... the full Irish breakfast is one of the best I've had in all the world, and it rivals any I've had in Ireland !
google avatar

B M.

Yelp
This place has such a great Irish ambiance! They always have all the games on, such as Premier League games, NFL games, Rugby games, March Madness, etc.! The Guinness pour is excellent! And they have additional Irish beers as well. They serve bar food that is above average. Great bar that is worth the visit thanks to the variety and service.

Yelp
When I'm in the mood for a fantastic Irish Breakfast I come here! Flavorful, Authentic and Yummy! And the pugs love to chill here too! Staff are excellent! Plenty of screens to catch a game.

Yelp
You know, when I go have lunch at a bar or pub, I expect the usual bar food options. I've never had any issues with the food here but apparently between now and the last time I had a club sandwich, some FiDi queen felt that 3 slices of bread on a club sandwich was too much, and mayo is too unhealthy. So to my surprise, my club today had honey mustard and cucumbers, and was only two slices. Absolutely not. If THEY want to add/subtract from the traditional club then go for it. Us normies want a traditional club: 3 slices of toast, mayo, bacon, turkey, lettuce and tomato.

Billy D.

Yelp
Best Pub experience I've had yet in the city! Nicest people I ever met going above and beyond to make me feel comfortable! Thank you John, Jack, Sara, Lorayne and Nicole for making every visit memorable! Dinners are perfect (light and filling)! Always within view of a game adds to the experience.

Loren G.

Yelp
The bar waitress confronted me after I paid and said is there a reason why you didn't tip ? Lol Then continued to tell me that if I don't tip, I shouldn't come here to spend money LOL I'm not obligated to tip with that kind of ambiance and no respect what so ever. She said they live off of tips and since I didn't, I should not come back.... LOL DEALLLLL let's see how you pay your bills now ? Mind you, I'm a regular.... This was so unexpected and surprising. I was shocked and disappointed in how they talked to me and handled herself. Don't come here if you are gonna get a to go and don't tip...

Matt C.

Yelp
A beacon of hope. SF is a hellish place - and Irish Times might be the only place to seek refuge. You walk into this place and you forget for just one moment that you're surrounded by tech bros who at any given moment might launch another startup. If you're from out of town, stop by. Drinks are cold and food comes quick.
google avatar

Rachel W.

Yelp
You ABSOLUTELY have to appreciate a place that gives you your choice of yellow mustard! That aside, the Fish and Chips are delicious. I love a spot that has beer battered fish, and the batter and the fish don't separate. They are meaty, juicy, crispy, and flavorful in one bite. This is a good spot for Fish and Chips, great bar service, fun staff, and great music.

Yelp
Great service in this Irish bar . Bar tender was quick to offer service, poured a perfect pint of Guinness and even brought it out to the table once ready. Loved the open windows. TVs were on and many patrons were watching sports games. Came too late order food but can recommend for a great selection of Irish Whiskey and a great bartender.

Charlene R.

Yelp
Some improvements I would like to express is accredited to the service that was given to my friends and I once we had entered the bar. We had entered to use the bathroom first, and order drinks once we got out. One of our friend who didn't need to use the bathroom ordered a drink while waiting for us. He initially had asked for any suggestions of beer, and the owner, Jack, had said "look at the menu it has options". Instead, of offering option that were listed out on tap. There was only two, 4 people groups that were seated on tables outside the bar. It was unusual to respond this way as everyone had their drinks already, and about 3 other employees were just cleaning. It was very dismissive and not decently an ounce of customer service there. As more friends entered, the other older female bartender who looked to be in her older 60's immediately kicked them out saying if they were not to order within 5 minutes of getting there; Which they were still deciding on what to order as they are a larger group with a larger tab. Once she was told to wait for a second so they can decide she immediately rushed her attitude negatively and threatened them individually. It was out of no where as there was not much customers to care for, and we had just arrived to this location. I believe what she had done to my friends was very disrespectful, as well as the owner, Jack, who blatantly allowed this behavior to continue. No apologies were made for our experience. There was the option to never come again, and we will gladly follow it. I would like to point out one one person who was trying to accommodate us as much as possible. Thank you Jules for being a team player. My recommendation in the future for this bar is to invest a lot more in common courtesy for different cultures, as well as local knowledge of respect. In my opinion, there are so many nicer Irish bars that excel in every aspect of service, ambiance, and drinks. I would highly suggest Kell's or Chief Sullivans as they have established one of the most renowned spots in the city.

Yelp
Loud music, flowing beer, good drinking food, and good vibes. This irish bar has it all for your st pattys festivities.
google avatar

Monica B.

Yelp
I used to come randomly when I worked in FiDi. I just went today and the vibes were fun/laidback. They have multiple screens on for various sportsball lol. I tried the Irish Poutine, definitely different than normal poutine so don't get it if that's what you're going for. Next time I'm going for the fish and chips! Bloody Maria was good but not spicy. You can ask for more spice I think, I wish we did haha. Service/bartender was super friendly, we will be back!

Yelp
Monday Night Football meant a need for food, beer, and TV. The place was busy, but understandably so. Energy was high, people seemed really into the game as well as the general atmosphere. This isn't the sort of place you head when aiming for pretentiousness. This is a legit pub, and I mean that in the best way. We were all pleased with the beer assortment and the food was better than expected. Burger looked good, but I had the club and some wings and really enjoyed both. Irish Times is that sweet spot between high end fancy and total dive, and the city could use a few more joints like this one.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here for a drink and some food with a friend last Sunday to watch the 49ers. Restaurant was clean and has a good ambiance. Came 25 minutes before game time and there was plenty of seating - it filled up as it got closer to kickoff. Order the Bloody Mary and it was real solid. If you like yours spicy make sure to specify, wasn't as hot as I prefer but was an easy fix. Went with the chicken tenders for my meal and chose the Buffalo and Honey Mustard dipping sauces. Both were delicious and the chicken was perfectly crispy. Overall, it was a great authentic experience. No frills, quick service, and reasonable prices. Will be back!

Ed C.

Yelp
i came in and ordered 3 drinks and food and at the end the bartender gave me the bill. before I could see the amount or even a receipt for the bill, the bartender hit the 20 percent tip on the Toast Handn held. super trashy and desperate . fyi she's been working there for years so she made have screwed other people. she just bought a new Highlander. i sill not come to this bar again

Yelp
Enjoyed via in-person dining. I previously enjoyed fish and chips, and Irish coffee. Fish and chips were crispy outside and flaky inside. The Irish coffee was strong and warming. Thank goodness cuz our weather has been dipping into the low 40s lately. Service friendly.
google avatar

D L.

Yelp
This is a SF FIDI staple and open early to late. Breakfast is always good, lunch service is friendly and quick. Happy hour is fun & Irish coffees are on point with decent prices for SF. This isn't personal but our honest experience
google avatar

Yelp
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! Unbelievable experience at this restaurant. We were waited on by Melyssah who was extremely unprofessional and lacked the customer service required for being in the restaurant business. I came in town for a wedding with my family. We went for lunch (party of 4) and my husband ordered a burger that came out wrong THREE times! It took forever to get him what he ordered to the point that the whole table was done eating. Keep in mind, while we're waiting on his meal we're continuing to order more and more drinks. When the bill came we asked that the burger be removed given the issues caused by the restaurant. Melyssah proceeded with an attitude to tell us that "well he ate the burger" regardless of it coming out wrong three times and the food coming out after everyone was done eating. Her attitude was APPALLING to say the least. The owner came over with the same exact attitude with zero lack of understanding for the CUSTOMER but ultimately removed the burger with nothing short of an attitude. He has no apology on behalf of his rude waitress. delay in food coming out and the food coming out wrong. Tragic experience HARD PASS ON THIS RESTAURANT!
google avatar

Brittany T.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend this place. The staff wasnt friendly and the drinks were mediocre. The Bloody Mary was nothing special. Just vodka and a premix with one lemon. The Guinness wasn't looted correctly l- which is disappointing for an Irish pub. Very transactional.
google avatar

Trev T.

Yelp
It's a nice bar with good food and great bartenders. They have a house made soup of the day, the cream of mushroom is absolutely amazing. Believe it or not, I make the trek from The Richmond district just for the soup, it's that good.

Yelp
Was there about a week & a half ago with a friend who's been there before & raved about the owner (who wasn't there this time). Cute place but couple of unfortunate events occurred. The young bartender was busy & alone, so I had a wait before ordering, which allowed me to observe her obsession with her hair. She was grabbing her hair every 30-45 seconds with both hands & flipping it over her shoulder. It was bizarre, literally both hands playing with her hair each time, then digging those same hands into the container of cut limes and placing one in someone's drink. Ewww! If she can't contain her out of control hair obsession, she needs to cut it shorter. Disgusting! Health department would have a field day with that. We decided against cocktails & ordered tap beers to not risk hair hands touching an ingredient. I ordered my beer, my friend ordered hers from behind me, gave me her card for it, then went to the restroom. Bartender hands me my drink, then hands one to a guy who grabs it and goes out the door. She brings me the check & had rung both up together. Whatever, I paid and was waiting for my friend's. She sees me standing there and gave me an annoyed look and asked, "Did you need something else?". I said I needed the other beer. She said, "What??". I held up the receipt and repeated I need my friend's beer, that she'd only given mine. She looked at me like I was trying to pull a fast one. Like maybe I'd stuck that glass of beer in my bra or something to steal another one? IDK, but then she glanced at where we were sitting, guess she saw no extra beer and just (again, with annoyance) poured one & handed it to me. No clue if she just forgot to pour the second one, if she handed it to the random guy who grabbed it and left, or what. No apologies, no friendliness, and fortunately, no flipped hair in our beers.

Yelp
We stopped in here while visiting San Fran on our way to TX and the bartenders and owner were amazing and super nice. Great atmosphere here! Hopefully we can make it back one day!

Ben Y.

Yelp
Make sure you wipe your glass rims. Price is pretty standard for downtown which I am surprised considering the sanitary practice lol.
google avatar

Justin S.

Yelp
I've been working on the corner up the street for a dozen years and this spot hasn't changed one bit. This is for the better. The key is predictably. This is a very relaxed place to get lunch or just a drink. Standard drinks. Standard pub food. Get the burger and Coke. Maybe with some Jack. Great, friendly service in a clean pub with the game on. Outdoor seating. Open. Don't come here if you want a hipster-trash frou frou drink.

Mary R.

Yelp
Went on a Monday night with friends & we had a great experience! I shared the Irish curry, rice, & chips with my 1 year old & it was so delicious! My friends ordered the nachos, mushroom sandwich, & chicken tenders. Everything was so well made & flavorful. Ambiance was lovely, everyone was so friendly with my 1 year old. Thank you Jack for having us. It was such a pleasant evening!

Yelp
We found Irish Times when we were in San Fran for the night and looking for a bar to watch the UFC fights. We walked in and immediately loved the feel of the place. It felt vintage, welcoming, and a place where friends could gather and enjoy drinks and bites after a long day at work. The menu was fairly priced and the options were way better than typical sport bar food. And no matter where you sat there was a tv in good view to watch what ever sporting event was on. They did have a $10 cover to watch the UFC fights...I thought that was an amazing deal considering we were San Francisco. We will definitely return to Irish Times when were back in the city.
google avatar

J T.

Yelp
Bartender was really nice! Neighborhood bar. Easy to hang out and grab a few drinks with friends .
google avatar

Miquel N.

Yelp
Our first stop in San Francisco was this cute place. We were warmly welcomed by a cute Irish girl. We got one regular and one mini Irish breakfast. It was amazing. We loved everything about this place.

Gavin T.

Yelp
I'm responding to the above review. Group came in with their own food after the marathon and proceeded to eat inside the bar. The bartender asked them if they'd like a drink, the group said no maybe in a while. The bartender then said "if you're not going to eat or drink then please leave", group proceeded to abuse the bartender and left. Lorraine is an amazing hard worker. This group were just pushing limits. As an aside, the bar and its patrons are not fans of John Travolta or The Bee Gees.!
google avatar

Ali M.

Yelp
Nice, chill place to grab a drink or a small bite after work. Really relaxed atmosphere with plenty of places to sit. Bartenders are also great to talk to and super personable. Though I did see one fight when I came here one night, they were instantly on it and kicked that guy out. I will definitely continue to come back.

David K.

Yelp
Came in on Saturday (10/14) and Bar staff stole money by adding additional tips to our checks. Paid for a round of 5 Guinness total came to $59.30 (including tip). Checked my credit card a few days later after a friend informed me that he was overcharged compared with his receipt. Bar charged me $65.16. This happened to me and 5 of my friends on the same day. Bar staff are brazenly adding 20% to all checks despite writing down a specific tip. UPDATE: Bar owner reached out to me regarding this issue and apologized for the misunderstanding. Refunded the entire check. Appreciate them trying to make this right! Upgraded to 3 stars.

Yelp
We enjoyed a trip to Ireland a few months ago and fell in love with the friendliness, and "character", of the Irish people. Most of the owners and staff are from Ireland, so this has the same vibe and friendliness and humor the pubs we visited in Ireland. The Guinness is great, it tastes similar. (No place in the US will taste the same as Guinness in Ireland.) Remembering this is a legit local bar, have been bringing my family back ever since, my youngest is 20yrs old. We do miss Eva though. RIP.

Tiffany P.

Yelp
It was nice that this place is kid friendly and have patio seating. Due the Covid they have a limited menu but enough of something for everyone. I really enjoyed my tri tip sandwich with a pint of Guinness. The meat was super tender and very flavorful, next time I want to try the shepherds pie. It was also fun having a severe who is from Ireland. Parking was hard to find but so worth it.
