"Isabel Marant has done a pretty amazing job of building a slavishly devoted fan base: It's partly because her clothes used to be nearly impossible to find unless you bought a ticket to Paris (she still refuses to be sold online, and only opened outposts in NYC and LA in the past few years), and partly because she nails a bohemian-meets-modern aesthetic that always just works. There are four outposts across the city. There are also locations in the 3rd, 16th, and the 11th."

Yelp
If you're looking for a store that has a lot of cool things, this is the spot. Whether it's getting something for yourself or to give as a gift, this place has you covered. The selection of furniture, music equipment, kitchen gear, pots, pans, luggages, different tools, small appliances, various brands, there is a lot here to see and discover and get inspired by. I was just there yesterday with my wife for a custom furniture order. The experience was pleasant, and the sales associate spoke English really well, which was super helpful for me especially because I'm still not very good at French. Overall fun store, lots to see, and fun to stop by from time to time!

Yelp
This department store is the oldest in Paris. It's in a grand old building with lots of detail on the inside and outside. It has mostly luxury goods, but there are definitely some items you can buy that are more reasonable for souvenirs. Of course the service is excellent. They do pop-ups throughout the year when we were there it happened to be a dog pop up. They had a dog boutique on the first floor with the chandelier made of dog bones. The elevators look like giant bones, each floor had its own dog boutique, and there was a puppy Cafe an artist that could draw your dog, specialty collars, and lots of other fun stuff

Yelp
Service is perfect and this upscale department store on the left bank in Paris deserves incredible praise. everything from food, coffee, to merchandise choose was very nice. It reminds me of a larger Nieman marcus ---

Yelp
Loved stopping here and getting lost to fashion! Why c'est bon +'s: + Variety of fashion that appeals to those who love all things Parisian for any gender and age. Prices feel like Neiman Marcus or Saks + VAT desk near the kids' section and a bit of a maze to get here so ask for directions + Service is hands off which means I got to browse unimpeded by any solicitous associates + Brought my toy poodle to all the departments and no one made a fuss + High end merchandise prevail but there are more affordable lines such as Polène and Sézane Why ce n'est pas bon -'s: - Selections of a brand may be limited. For example, I wanted a certain style at Polène and the inventory was not available at this location. Really enjoy the stroll here and it is a more laidback vibe than Galleries Lafayette which gets swamped with tourists.

Yelp
I have tended to come to Le Bon Marché when I have visitors coming from the States who want to do some shopping in Paris. One of my good guy friends in particular loves coming here a few times during each of his annual trips to Paris to refresh his wardrobe. For menswear there is a good selection of brands that are perhaps less accessible in some parts of the States; my friend's favorites included Balibaras, Octobre and Magnanni for shoes. The prices are definitely up there so it's more of a special treat kind of shopping experience. I find the layout, atmosphere and service to be more pleasant here than at some other department stores (such as Galeries Lafayette). The staff are very helpful and professional, and by and large speak English fluently. It's a beautiful space to walk around and if you find yourself waiting on people who are more invested in shopping than yourself, there is free WiFi if you really need to pass some time. Conveniently located within walking distance of the metro stations Duroc (metro lines 10 & 13) and Vaneau (line 10).

Yelp
Bon Marche is equivalent to something like Saks - high end, items are beautifully displayed and it's WAY less insane than Galeries Lafayette. I stopped in during "Les soldes" (winter sales) and indeed there were sales. Don't expect to score on super high end stuff like Dior, YSL etc. The bargains are on French designers like Maje, Sezane etc. Most sale items were 20-50% off abd if you spend more than $100 you can claim tax refund if you're in the US. I assure you, if you're shopping here you'll exceed that so bring your passport. Lovely staff and service too.

Yelp
On a 24 hr layover in Paris, Le Bon Marche was really the only place my wife wanted to hit up to pick up stuff to bring home. Although we did end up buying a few knick knacks our main goal was food items so we hit up the food hall to pick up things like butter and cheese which could be vacuum sealed, cookies, spreads, and other canned and jarred goods, and then just a few other desserts from the various specialty stall. Now Le Bon Marche probably isnt the cheapest place to get these items but since we had limited time in Paris on our 24 hr layover, it was the best place to get everything done in one shot.

Yelp
This was only 2 blocks from where I was staying with a friend. I mostly went to purchase food. I'm told the prices here are much higher than elsewhere in Paris. When I asked if it was comparable to Whole Foods back home, I was told more expensive. But coming from San Francisco, I was fine with the prices. You know what I loved about Le Bon Marche? Their self checkout machines. I brought euros with me and often needed to break the 100 or 50 bills because the smaller shops couldn't handle large bills. Voila! Pick up some baguettes or tarfuto salami, and got change for my large bills.

Yelp
To quote our wine trip driver, "Galeries Lafayette is for the tourists, but Le Bon Marché is for the Parisians." So with that being said, I decided to check the place out. Having been to the cluster fuck that it Galeries Lafayette, it was a welcome surprise to not see massive crowds at LBM. All of the big fashion names had their own boutiques and there was makeup and fragrances for days. As far as men's apparel goes, there wasn't too many brands that couldn't be found stateside, but it was still work perusing. Having just eaten, I didn't give the market section of the store the attention that it deserved. That being said, if you're looking for a high end shopping experience without any crowds, this is the place to visit.

Yelp
Highend shopping, it has got all the luxury brands, and local luxury brands that less known outside of France. Right across the street, it has a nice grocery store with all the highest quality grocery, meats, pastries.

Yelp
When I have American guests who want to go shopping in Paris, I usually take them to Le Bon Marché. During each of his yearly travels to Paris, one of my good man friends in particular enjoys returning here a few times to update his clothing. There is a fair range of menswear brands that may be harder to get in other regions of the United States; my friend's faves were Magnanni, Octobre, and Balibaras for shoes. Shopping here is more of a special treat because of the costs, which are clearly higher. https://wegovyireland.com/

Yelp
An elegant high scale department score. It has less tourists than the GL. No lines for handbags here, and I hope it can stay this way. The most impressive thing for me in this department store is their supermarket. Do not miss it! I think it's in the building next door to all the handbags, I am not 100 percent sure. From wine, cheese, chocolate, to French bread, salads, cold dishes, pies, and deserts. I wanted to try them all. However, due to limited time and not having a kitchen in our hotel, my husband and I only tired their beautiful deserts. We read all about them before going to France, and we've never seen, or tried most of them in Seattle area. We ordered their mont blanc, and st. Honoré, and needless to say, they tasted amazing!

Yelp
When I die bury me inside of Le Bon Marche. The best department store I've been to probably in my life. The vibe is very upbeat and lively. It's like a Saks or a Neiman Marcus, but better. I was there around Christmas and the decorations were unreal beautiful. I was lucky enough to be able to buy a Chanel bag here from their small Chanel boutique and the service was unreal. While they didn't have the biggest selection, this was the best service I've ever had at a Chanel boutique and I have been to MANY. Even outside of the Chanel boutique every employee that I came into contact with was so incredibly kind and helpful. The VAT refund situation is all handled on the 3rd floor by the elevator. They are very quick and make everything incredibly easy. I can't wait to go back to Paris and return to Le Bon Marche!

Yelp
The first department store in Paris. I feel that it has a history, which makes it attractive. A beautiful woman in Paris was walking in the store with her dog, and it impresses me on my memory just like a model.

Yelp
Looking for high end shopping without the chaos in Galeries Lafayette, this place is for you. It has all the brands with the leisure of not having to wait in line or bumping into people to people. It might just be me, but feel like the staff is more relaxed and not as pushy like in Lafayette as well. It's a bit smaller than Lafayette, but has all the necessities. Tax free claim is also within the building, I believe on thrid floor by taking the elevator was the easiest route so it has its convenience as well. Afterwards, hit up the market, La grande epicerie, adjacent to the bon marche for a snack and pick up souvenirs. Perfect duo.

Yelp
Very fancy, but for big spenders (scarves $50, some hats starting at $250) but they have shoes and shoes and more shoes. So many high end boutiques and sparkle during the holiday season. And those windows!!!!! So much fun to window shop and people watch. Their famous escalators are cool and decoratif. They had a nice lighting department, and the food in the adjacent building is upward level gourmet. If you have a fistful of cash go for it. PS: There was this handcreme I spied at the Louvre and they had a tester here (42 euros for a small tube) - you bet your sweet bippee that I squeezed some out for my weather chapped hands. :)

Yelp
Our Airbnb was conveniently located across the street from Le Bon Marche so we visited often during our week-long vacation in Paris. + SHOPPING It is a beautiful and elegant department store with lots of shopping options from all the best luxury brands. I had the pleasure of buying a Chanel bag here from their little Chanel boutique and the service was exceptional. I thought it was actually better than the Chanel on Montaigne. + CASH EXCHANGE/VAT REFUND We came here to exchange cash when we needed it. The rates were pretty good. Same place (on the 3rd floor) takes care of VAT refunds. Service is very quick. + MARKETPLACE They have a marketplace very similar to Whole Foods, but fancier. Really loved the fromagerie and charcuterie sections. The fresh bread from their bakery was also phenomenal. They have a great wine selection. We picked up bottles of Bordeaux just about every night. They also have a variety of chef tables around the marketplace to enjoy delicious meals made fresh with their high quality meat, seafood, etc. A great mix of tourists and locals. The vibe is very upbeat and lively. We were there late-October early-November when the Christmas decorations started to go up and it was fabulous. I would definitely recommend a visit to Le Bon Marche-- and I would highly recommend staying at an Airbnb nearby! It was awesome.

Yelp
Oh man - what an amazing department store. I have been in all kinds of retail operations, and this is a very high-end store ... on par with say Harrods in London or the flagship Saks in New York. It is absolutely lovely from start to finish. Since we were there at Christmas, it was decorated to the nines with Christmas trees, festive lights and beautifully classy accents. Everyone who worked there was pleasant and helpful - they would immediately answer any question or drop everything to assist you. I had a grand time looking through some of the fashions (and a less grand time wincing at the price tags). I also was super intrigued by the atelier workshops throughout the store. For instance, in the denim area, there was a glassed-in workshop area where craftsmen and women would customize your jeans any way you like - with the exact hardware of your choosing. It was amazing since everything in America is so mass produced. Le Bon Marche was also very helpful to us as there is a currency exchange office on the top floor. Handy to know. At any rate, if you need a place to shop for yourself or shop for some really primo souvenirs, this would be a great stop. Or hell, just pretend your rich and walk around. It's super fun!

Yelp
High end grocery store with multiple levels of goodness! This place is one of a kind and has everything you want! They also have a food bar that has everything truffle, a food bar with all meats from Spain and another bar for seafood! Be prepared to spend a lot of money but well worth it.

Yelp
Love this mall. Not too crowded. Much nicer and cleaner than some of the other malls. Wait times not as long, so overall staff is less stressed and nicer.

Yelp
First department store in the world, it opened its doors in 1852. At his opening, it was hailed for its architecture: a concourse of a railway station, surrounded by the balustrades of the two upper storeys, cut by suspended stairways and crisscrossed with numerous bridges. The extensive cast iron beneath the white light of the glass roof composes an airy architecture of complicated lacework. Other than its beautiful architecture, the department store can be described as a temple of luxury: with the most trendy clothes of Paris, a museum-like food emporium, known the world-over as La Grande Epicerie, luxury home furnishings departments and a huge extensive wine cellar. Le Bon Marché is a thoroughly luxury shopping experience.

Yelp
Galeries Lafayette or Le Bon Marche? Decisions, decisions... Both are elegant, both sell world class merchandise. Much of it made in the EU. My wife and I actually spent an entire day shopping at both les grand magazins. If you are a serious retail-a-holic, spending an entire day browsing and buying at these fabulous stores will be heaven. We simply don't have department stores of this high caliber in the USA.
google avatar

Yelp
Love, love this place. One floor is wines and spirits, another food, higher up designer clothes and home furnishings, books. etc. It was decorated for Christmas when I was there and very pretty. There was even puppet shows at the outside windows for the kiddies to enjoy. A must visit if you go to Paree.

Yelp
This is another historic department store that's very cool to wander and explore! Definitely worth a look to find that special something to bring back home with you :) My wife's favorite was purchasing an exclusive color Dior lipstick, it's literally made for Le Bon Marche and unavailable anywhere else in the world! It's possible that they feature a new exclusive color each month. Bonus Tip: Just across the street there is an entire food marketplace (called "La Grande Épicerie") and it's INCREDIBLE! We got hungry walking around Le Bon Marche, and this place had everything we could imagine for food options :) Note: We visited in September 2016

Yelp
The Parisian answer to Harrod's. Large department store. It's worth a visit just to see the architecture and art installations.

Yelp
High end store with several high end names: Louis Vuitton, etc. I was impressed that the had a nice bookstore , small coffee shop. Across the street was their grocery store and kitchen store.

Yelp
Le Bon Marché is a quality department store with friendly & efficient employees. Excellent shopping experience we enjoyed all the wonderful merchandise presented with class. The prices are high but so is the quality. It's not like any department store in the US, there are many unusual items you won't find in a typical department store. Love the home selection of accessories and furniture. Very contemporary and current.
google avatar

Sam O.

Yelp
One of my favourite department store as it is way more calm then the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps. You could find all the luxury brands you need and the layout of the place makes it easy to go around. Some works are done (refurbishment) in some areas of the department store nevertheless you could use the indoor bridge to visit the other side and the food store (la grande epicerie) Recommended if you are looking for some shopping therapy time!
google avatar

Percy N.

Yelp
Great store with super selection of household goods but the key highlight is the epicurean market and little chef tables on the first level along with the wine and liquor store on the lower level. Highly recommend the Maison de la Truffe, the fresh seafood section, fromagerie and charcuterie sections. The bakery is awesome as well. You could spend hours in the store and we did! In fact we came here 3 days in a row to sample the selections and grab goodies for a picnic and to take back home.
google avatar

Shannon M.

Yelp
Food porn. Enough said. I'm told there's more to this store. A lot. But I never got past the food. Gourmet food. All kinds of it. Also, international foods. I bet you can find them cheaper, but where else can you find lavender mustard, chestnuts in honey and about 200 types of chocolate alongside? Just go and fill up your senses. You're in the foodie capital of the world!
google avatar

Ro R.

Yelp
Okay I went a bit crazy in here, since they have a section of Mariage Frères and I totally stocked up here. But really mad to learn that I could have just got them at Dean and Deluca!
google avatar

Mariko M.

Yelp
The street level have some awesome premade meals; when my mum isn't in the mood to cook, she'll pick something up from here for dinner. When visiting Paris, I would recommend coming here to shop for souvenirs. Heaps of cute things that you can pick up for friends/family who'd love to go to Paris. I picked up some little treats for work colleagues. Yay, I'm a fan.

Laurent M.

Yelp
This place is a scam and a fraud for their loyalty program and also for their Tax free conditions. - we purchased for over 4000€ of merchandise and we activated the promotion the same day to benefit from the cash back BUT you must have 500 points first, come back the next day and THEN AND ONLY THEN you get your cash back ! This is a fraud and at the Printemps and Galerie Lafayette it's totally different and fair ! - the Tax Free issue, I did not know that the Bon Marche substitutes themselves for the French customs .... Which means that you must carry your passport with you, regardless of all the risks that it involves ... !! A picture of your passport is not acceptable when ALL and I MEAN ALL OTHER STORES gladly accepts your picture passport ! Who are these people that thinks that they can decide about giving you or not a tax free document when we all know that is, tourists must go in front of a customs officer to receive a stamp !! I do not call such attitude as being vigilant but rather stupid ! This place is not for tourists, so go to the Printemps or Galzrie Lafayette and you will not be disappointed !!
google avatar

Yelp
We had lunch at Le Monte Novado and La Maison de la Truffe at the Grande Épicerie at the Bon Marché. The food was good, better at the truffle place than the Spanish one, where the quality of the bellota is not top notch. In addition, service at the Monte Novado is much less precise and less pro-active. Convenient when you shop at La Grande Épicerie, but you'd be better off at La Table on the 1er étage, although the queue is usually longer. Too pricey for its quality.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a department store that sells beautiful clothes, and is beautiful in its own right as well. Despite the name, this is not the place to come for good deals. The items sold here are mostly luxury goods, with lots of designer labels offered, although there are also some things at more of a J. Crew price point (including J. Crew itself). I would say it's akin to Bloomingdale's in the US in terms of prices. Everything is displayed beautifully and the staff was super helpful. My favorite part of this store is that the top floor is all for kids - and in addition to the beautiful displays of kids' clothes, toys and books, there is a play room for kids with staff to supervise them while you shop. Genius, right?
google avatar

Yelp
this is one of my favorite department stores in Paris, sorry galleries lafayette! the service is great and their christmas decorations are so fun! no lines! they have the gourmet market next door with delicious treats!

Yelp
Yes, I'm a fan, BUT...... In the states, if a lipstick costs $20 at Nordstrom, it is $20 at Neiman Marcus. Yesterday, I was at Galleries Lafayette and went to price some Sisley Paris face oil in the cosmetics section. I asked the gentleman working if Bon Marche carries Sisley. He told me that they did, but that they charge more for it. WHAT? Seriously? He said that BM marks everything up more. Guess what? He was right. The face oil at GL was 135 euros and at BM it was 155 euros. Dude...not cool. I'm not sure about other items because I haven't started paying that close of attention to prices. But with cosmetics, this might be the norm.

Yelp
Short point: hit the food department on the ground floor (street entrance) - amazing. Beautiful store and interesting displays. Truly we did not go all the way to Paris to visit a mall. That said, this famous shopping mecca has name recognition and as we were in the neighborhood thought we should at least take a look. This is a HUGE store. Huge. And expensive. If you are a shopper, be prepared to wander and spend a lot of time finding various departments. The staff is very helpful and I did see a few items (bonsai terrarium ecospheres) that I have not seen in the States - so definitely you will find items of interest. Do not go with non-shoppers, they will not be happy.

Cecile C.

Yelp
Whoever took control of this place has definitely killed its soul and charm. It has become one of these countless globalized luxury experiences for rich tourists and it has strictly nothing to do with the Parisian spirit or France anymore. As a Parisian who used to consider this place my headquarters a few years back, I am hardly coming there anymore. I am sad and appalled to see, like yesterday, 16 year old jet-setter girls talking to employees like dogs, who themselves in return seem to mostly hate their jobs and the crowds here. The whole experience feels like being at terminal 2E of Charles de Gaulle airport, or actually, any international airport lounge, with just a ridiculous veneer of fake "hyper France" products, that will only fool the uneducated ones. Call me a romantic, but I can't help thinking of Emile Zola's novel "Ladies' paradise", which at the time actually described the Bon Marche and ...hear my heart cry.
google avatar

John L.

Yelp
Very posh Dept for on par with Barney's or Neiman Marcus in the states. The food emporium across the street is also incredible. Came here twice for the food and groceries. Better than most of the restaurants in Paris.
google avatar

Brittany F.

Yelp
I'm packing up my bags and I am moving into this store! Take Nemian Marcus, William Sonoma, Dean & Deluca and roll it all up into one. Huge doesn't do it justice. This store is behemothic! Make sure to enter both the food side and the non-food side. The food side is a gourmet market with an amazing cheese counter, prepared food section, and the rest is divided by region: your Italian goods, American goods etc. The wine cellar downstairs is divine as well. The non food side is almost overwhelming. The first floor is bags, jewelry and makeup. The lower floor is men's. The upper floors are women's clothing (all very, very high-end designers, but it's always fun to browse!). The top floor is for home and the attic is like a Toys-R-Us. It's pricey but it's one of those places that is just fun to explore!

Yelp
I never bought anything from 'Au Bon Marché'. This store carry over-priced merchandise. I prefer the wider selection at 'Printemps' or 'Galeries Lafayette'. Both departments have good deals durance sales.

Yelp
In general, I'm not a big fan of department stores - there's usually too much muck to weed out. However: This is my favorite department store in Paris. If Printemps is Bergdorf, Galerie Lafayette is Saks/Macy's, then Bon Marche is like Barney's except with an amazing food market complete with an epicerie, charcuterie, boulangerie, patisserie, marche, fromagerie, and various traiteurs. Individually, not all the counters are the best of the best, but collectively, this market is every pinky raising foodie's wet dream (Galerie Lafayette's top floor food market comes close but it's way crowded and I hate navigating through GL.) The macarons at the patisserie counter were miserable though, just a note. You just can't not love a dept store that has a food market on the first floor instead of makeup and perfume. Another reason why Bon Marche is so favored: it was here that I made the best purchase of all time - a navy blue padded Givenchy nightingale at 50% off, plus a VAT refund, for which Bon Marche has a service on the top fl (rare, and so so convenient, I recommend taking the cash, less the handling fee, on the spot, because the airport VAT agents will also take a handling fee and it's a bigger hassle. Plus, if you travel elsewhere in Europe and fly back to the US from an airport in another country, you may not be able to get the VAT back altogether). In terms of shopping in Paris, if you visit in July or January, you will not find better deals anywhere else in the world, especially at department stores. Even if its American counterparts stock the same brands, the Paris stores usually have better selection, because ...well, American dept stores cater to conservative (read: bland) American taste. As far as department stores go, Bon Marche is the most well edited I've seen. Basically, kind of epic.

Yelp
Exceptional service, great cloths are €€€€. Sometimes they make special items just for the store, if you can offered it buy it as you won't see it anywhere else. Don't forget their furniture store across from them & the most exceptional food stores next door! You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Shopping at Le Bon Marche is such a throwback for me as an American. Frankly I can't remember ever shopping at a store that is so customer service oriented except when I've been outside of my own country, like in Japan for example. Looking for gifts we went to the floor with housewares and were so impressed with the sheets, the cookware, the dishes, glassware, you name it. All beautifully displayed and priced to browse in my case. We started looking at French tea towels and the kindest middle aged lady came over to assist. She couldn't speak a word of English and I speak little more French but she was so happy--proud even--to show me the selection and where I could find more since that was my interest. That's the kind of experience that just put me in a mindset to buy gifts for friends and something for myself as well. She was all too pleased to wrap my gift and give me a shopping bag that I enjoyed sporting all over St. Germain de Pres that Saturday afternoon. One thing I loved about shopping in France in general is that when it's your turn it's as if you're the only customer in the store or the market or wherever. You never feel rushed as the clerk is devoted to ensuring that you have everything you need before he or she moves on to whomever is next.

Yelp
5 stars because of the gorgeous escalators, and just the look of the place.... it reminds you of Neiman Marcus on Wilshire, near Rodeo Drive in Los Angeles. The food section is very international and fancy, and everything is just right. For the chic and wealthy it is the in place, for the rest a please touch museum. The whole Rue du Bac from the Seine up to Le Bon Marché is a promenade well worth it. A definite stop if you start in Tuileries and head down to Saint Germain, then to Notre Dame, and through Ile St Louis go through the Marais to Place des Vosges, then lunch or dinner.
google avatar

Kim Y.

Yelp
Beautiful building that is normally less crowded than the Haussmann departments stores. The staff seems more willing to help as well. If you are looking for high end fashions while travelling though Paris you will find just about every well known couturier at Le Bon Marché. They don't, however offer the 10% tourist coupon as Printemps and Galleries Lafayette. That's the reason for the 4 and not 5 star rating.

Yelp
Review for the food and grocery section only. If you can call it that. Le Bon Marche takes grocery store to a new level. An entire fresh and prepared food section with a specialist at each little kiosk. A processed food section with more pates, tapenades, chutneys and oils than you can shake a stick at. We spent as much money at Bon Marche as we did at the Michelin starred restaurant we visited. Go, fill up your shopping basket, and don't pay attention to the price.
